As more and more politicians and retailers renounce the Confederate flag (which is amazing to see), the latest bizarre, hateful meme to emerge from the right wing fever swamp is equating the Confederate flag to the gay pride rainbow flag.

Yes, they really are this twisted.

And of course, cretinous American Family Association spokesman Bryan Fischer has to weigh on this as well: Fischer: If You’re Going to Take Down the Confederate Flag, You Should Also Remove ‘The Rainbow Flag of the Gay Reich’.

On his radio program today, Bryan Fischer once again contributed some of his typically well-reasoned and insightful thoughts on the controversy over the Confederate flag by demanding that if this flag is going to be removed, so too should the rainbow flag, which is the symbol of “the Gay Reich.”

“If we are going to remove symbols of oppression from our culture,” Fischer said, “if we come to the point where we say any flag that represents bigotry, any flag that represents hatred, any flag that represents slavery or oppression needs to be removed, then I want to suggest to you that the next flag to go ought to be the rainbow flag of the Gay Reich.”

When choosing fallback fonts for your CSS stack do NOT use “cursive” for your headings because in Windows it will display as giant Comic Sans, making your news/e-zine site look clownishly amateur. It tumbled along with other heroic (and out of fashion) statues when the Soviets went down in 1989. For a time, the seven-ton Lenin lay face down in the mud at the Poprad dump — until rescued by American entrepreneur Lewis Carpenter. Carpenter, who admired the artistry, mortgaged his house to buy and transport the statue to Seattle.

Carpenter died in a car accident in 1994. To recover the statue debt, Carpenter’s family arranged to loan it to the Fremont district until a buyer emerged. Asking price: $150,000. In 1995, Fremont put the statue up in the center of town, near a Cold War era rocket also displayed as public art.

Robert Toombs address to the United States Senate January 7, 1861. He is furious about the issues of slavery. In reading this note how slavery is the issue of this very solemn speech about constitutional principles. After the Civil War you just quote the pious humbug about the consitution and discreetly avoid the mention of slavery in the sentence before or after.

Documents in the period of Secession immediately prior to the Civil War:

“Cornerstone Speech” of Alexander Stephens in which he says that the cornerstone of the Confederacy is slavery.

Declarations of Causes, at the beginning of the Civil War it was about slavery. Texas had a little manifesto of white supremacy in addition.

“Ordinances of Secession” The ordinances of secession of the various Confederate states. Seems it has to do with slavery.

Confederate Constitution. Sections on slavery highlighted

Supposed ban on the importation of slaves in the Confederate Constitution. This is about a diplomatic circular of the Confederate government to diplomats abroad about the supposed ban on the importation of slaves. It is a few pages from DuBois’ book, “The Suppresion of the African Slave Trade.” pub. 1896.

Documents Threatening Secession Over The Issue of Slavery Prior to 1860-1861:

John C. Calhoun, Address of the Southern Delegates In Congress

Georgia Platform 1850 Conditions underwhich Southerners would remain in the Union. Something to do with slavery it seems.

Jefferson Davis speaks in the U.S. Senate on slavery May 7, 1860. It is very illustrative on how long pious legalistic speeches about the constitution and states rights was then about slavery. It also shows how respect for the Constitution is undermined by persons like Jefferson Davis. While scanning this the website manager was also going through “The Citizen,” the publication of the Citizens Councils of America. This was the major organization which fought Civil Rights in the 50’s and 60’s in this country, much more important than the KKK by a factor of over 10 times. Same old arguments. The continuity of slavepower to Jim Crow in their argumentation is amazing.

On June 19 several family members of victims killed in a June 17 mass shooting at Mother Emanuel AME Church in Charleston, South Carolina, attended the first court appearance of the alleged gunman and forgave the man for killing members of their family.

Hours later Katz, who makes regular Friday appearances on the NRA program Cam & Company, reacted to the court appearance by calling the move to forgive not “a moment of strength” but rather “a moment of serious weakness that we do not respond with a ‘you don’t get to kill us, we kill you.’”

Katz continued, “As a matter of fact, we kill you tenfold, who’s in your family today?” — putting forward the suggestion that the family members of accused murderers should be murdered themselves in retribution.

He concluded by calling his reaction — which included advocacy for the killing of innocent people — “far more natural and in many ways far more decent than sometimes the reactions I see.”

When choosing fallback fonts for your CSS stack do NOT use “cursive” for your headings because in Windows it will display as giant Comic Sans, making your news/e-zine site look clownishly amateur. IIRC, Macs will display Brush Script, which isn’t as horrible as Comic Sans, but will look really bizarre & inappropriate as a big headline for serious articles. Oh, your default headline font is Alfa Slab One? Great, then FFS use one or more serif fonts in your stack so your front page doesn’t end up looking like this.

Gah! I surf with a NoScript running at all times, so I often see really ugly, weird stuff upon my first visit to a site. Oh, and BTW—don’t set up your site in such a way that nothing displays if javascript is turned off. Which brings me back to what I had intended to comment about:

Initially, I didn’t buy Jack Hunter’s (the Southern Avenger guy) “I’m not a racist; I just played one on the radio” announcement in 2013, so I looked him up. As far as I can tell, he does indeed seem to be following through—as an editor at Rare his articles appear to be largely sane & empathetic.

Wikipedia says says the following, but I wasn’t able to confirm him actively working for/with and of the wingnuts listed (at least not recently):

Still…. the horrible racist stuff he said… he was “just acting”? How much integrity does someone have if they’re willing to be a paid troll spewing racist invective? I don’t think he was just acting over the racist stuff. I think he really believed it. Now, maybe he exaggerated due to his Southern Avenger character and ratings, but I believe the basic sentiments were real.

I do think people can change. We see it all the time. Some old Leftists are now extreme nut jobs, like Michael Savage and David Horowitz.

Then we have our own Charles, while not in the category of the aforementioned, he did change his alliances. It is a matter of degree. He hasn’t gone Moonbat on us.

Time will tell. I know Charles still fights his changing opinion of the right after fighting their DERP for many years now. Hunter will have to pay his dues either way.

Fitzgerald: Scott Walker would sign abortion bill without exemptions

As he prepares to launch a presidential bid, Gov. Scott Walker wants a 20-week abortion ban to come to his desk soon, and he doesn’t want it to include exemptions for rape and incest, according to one legislative leader.

Another top lawmaker who met with Walker on the issue could not recall whether the governor specifically asked that the bill leave out such exceptions.

The state Senate passed the bill without exemptions earlier this month and Assembly leaders are now determining when to pass it. Both houses are controlled by Walker’s fellow Republicans.

Senate Majority Leader Scott Fitzgerald (R-Juneau) told The New York Times that in a meeting Walker had asked that the measure not include the exemptions. Fitzgerald spokeswoman Myranda Tanck confirmed Tuesday that Walker did not want to see such exemptions in the bill.

So did I—they’re selling like hotcakes. I would imagine they’re not just going to immediately shut down all auctions involving Confederate flag items, but will probably only prohibit any new ones going forward.

I’m feeling good. Good about the confederate flag going down for the hateful symbol it is. Glad to have taken a fair slap at Ben Shapiro today of twitter. Sure I’m a nobody but sometime the point made is bigger than the speaker of the point. Time for some thick crunchy guitar music. Not sure how many Slash fans we got here but i did find this… Something about how he punctuates the notes.
