How do you determine turnout at a White Supremacy rally?
Count the teeth and divide by six.

Kudos to Bree Newsome!
That is Civil Disobedience in the grandest tradition - openly defy unjust law, hurt nobody, force the authorities to arrest you in public, and unapologetically risk the consequences.
Hear, hear!!
It’s interesting. I wonder if Shawn King is going to pay her court expenses after the tweet he made yesterday?

Is that Grant waiting in front ready to summon forth an army of iron shod liberal golems to trample the traitors underfoot?
8 | Rev_Arthur_Icantbreatheing Jun 27, 2015 1:51:50pm |
You know things are changing fast when only about two dozen people show up to support the Confederate flag in South Carolina.
IIRC, there’s a huge building across the street from the capitol (a bank? It’s been a while).
It wouldn’t take much for an enterprising photog to go up there and get a really close headcount.
I’d say use a drone, but that would probably not fly (pun intended) right over the capitol.

I saw a tweet/comment earlier today that Michael Moore offered to pay all of her legal expenses.

I was in front of a different state capitol building this afternoon. No confederate flag, just a few wedding parties taking photos on the front steps.

I’m sure she’ll get a lot of support. And FWIW, I agree that this is appropriate civil disobedience. The Rev. King would have given a thumbs up, I imagine.

Have fun. I wonder what the reaction is to SSM in Pennsylvania? I can’t imagine Connecticut being too out of joint about it, but I know there’s a lot of Pennsyltuckey/Pennsylbama out there. (Gorgeous state though).
20 | Feline Fearless Leader Jun 27, 2015 2:00:04pm |
If a lizard is ever in downtown Hartford the Wadsworth Atheneum is probably worth the stop. An art museum of the right size - large enough to have a mix of interesting types, but not too large that you feel rushed to go through it or get tired and opt to skip a few wings. (Which is one reason admission to the one in Philadelphia is good for two days.)
Didn’t take many pictures, but here’s something I thought was interesting and brought a Lizard to mind.

Yeah. But gay people, ISIS, both scary.//
My cousin - no, not THAT one - commented on Jon McNaughton’s FB post showing a soldier having to eat a piece of gay wedding cake. It’s a corner of his ‘Obamanation’ picture. Behind the soldier with the piece of cake from the oddly un-cut gay wedding cake is Ahmadinejad, behind a wall that says “Fort Hood”.
The tendency of wingnuts to roll all their fears/enemies into one big ball is nothing short of amazing.
And funny.

The tone of composed, but serious, concern is what makes this so funny. “From a national security point of view, should be people be concerned?”
“Could it be a sign? A warning?”

It’s like the scene from ‘Arrested Development’:
Wayne Jarvis: Michael, when we started talking to you, we didn’t have anything. But now… we got something. And you’re going to do time for it.
Barry: Those are the pictures?
Wayne Jarvis: They’re all over the news.
Barry: Those are balls.
Wayne Jarvis: What?
Narrator: Barry was right. Tobias had inadvertently photographed himself while learning to use his camera phone.
Barry: This close, they always look like landscape. Nope, you’re looking at balls.
