I’m putting up this open thread because I’m currently trapped in a nightmarish flood of cascading computer problems, that started when an external drive suddenly stopped responding. I’ll get it figured out, I’m sure, but until then here’s a thread for whatever.

Apparently, his balls came back accompanied by the latest Gallup/Ipsos polls, showing that any hope of success in the general election comes only if he manages to insulate himself from the clownishly racist Southern redneck base. The rednecks are blaming the liberals for their precious flags coming down, and the polls show that it’s safe for him to acquiesce on this, as their ire is directed at the Supreme Court and Obama.

My guess is that there will be a lot of Confederate flag waving at some of these rallies. Interesting to see if enough Republicans are willing to stand up to the hate.

They missed their chance to call out or distance themselves from that sort of hatred and bigotry long ago. Now they are going to be shouted down by the very people they tried to recruit into their cause.

Bird (Heron?) in light rain. Cleveland National Forest

Lots of work to do on lots of photos but here is a little hint of how our 2 day photo excursion went. We went from Oceanside, to vista to up in the mountain highway summits. Lot of fun saw a lot of California we had never seen.

Fascinated by the architecture of Palomar Observatory. I keep getting reminded of the old film Metropolis.

It was good, if not long enough. The kitties are happy to have us back home, although part of that might be the fact that they will get wet food tonight.

I have the kitchen mostly back to normal, but the rest of the house will take a bit. Only one bug cropped up while I was away, and that fix is already in to Google.

We did some hiking and while I wasn’t necessarily overall the happiest with how my photos came out, there were some gorgeous places.

Appropriately named Fern Canyon.

Had a strong storm here in VA several days ago. Shut down my computers shortly before the worst of it, but neglected to power off a newish 1TB HD with a USB connection to main PC, and that HD seems to have died from the power outages. Or maybe some ants found a way in.

Oops—sorry. Hard to tell the clowns apart without the red noses!

Don’t have a feel for how the fools feel about Jeb—time will tell. They’ll all be camping out here for the next 9 months as they did last time, so they’ll have plenty of opportunities to state their cases step on their dicks. (And don’t forget—there’s a “native son” running here—yeah, I’m sure Lindsey will really draw the big numbers.)
