Missouri Supreme Court Shuts Down Chuck C. Johnson’s Appeal to Get Mike Brown’s Juvenile Records

The final end of a sordid smear attempt
Wingnuts • Views: 62,123

He was banned permanently by Twitter, but right wing hatchet man Chuck C. Johnson still had an appeal filed with the Missouri Supreme Court, trying to get the juvenile records (if any) of Michael Brown unsealed, so he could prove Brown was a “violent criminal” who deserved to be shot down in the street. (Johnson claimed he had law enforcement sources who told him Brown had been charged with second degree murder as a juvenile, but the Juvenile Court attorney flatly denied Brown had ever been charged with a felony.)

Last September, the St. Louis County Court officially denied Johnson’s lawsuit to get Brown’s records, and yesterday the Missouri Supreme Court shut this deranged quest down for good. Here’s a screenshot of the ruling from Missouri Casenet:

A “writ of mandamus” is a command to take an administrative action; in this case Chuck was trying to get the Supreme Court to compel the St. Louis County Juvenile Court to unseal Brown’s records. Denied! So ends the final chapter of this sordid story.

Before he was banned from Twitter, Chuck Johnson would have been ranting about this on his website. But it’s now been 26 days since he’s updated anything at the site.

Obviously another big win for CCJ in the courts.

This should put the fear of Gd into the Illuminati in charge at Twitter.

Just wait until his lawsuit against Gawker is thrown out.

You got it - a case filed in a jurisdiction of convenience - Missouri, and not California where Chucky lives, or NY, where Gawker’s offices are located.

So, why Missouri? It’s because Chucky found a lawyer stupid enough to file this crap there - and to avoid the anti-SLAPP suit laws in both CA and NY that would hit him hard when he loses.

The filing:

It shows just how stupid he (and his lawyer) truly are. You don’t want to tamper with evidence or potential evidence used at trial, or that which might be used by the defendant at trial, because it looks real bad.

If I’m Gawker’s lawyers, I’d be laughing my ass off at that all while taking copious notes/screen grabs showing that Chucky is a conniving and sniveling runt who ought to get SLAPPed for his nonsensical ravings/entitled worldview. Oh, and it should get both Chucky and his lawyer sanctioned for tampering with evidence that would otherwise be used at trial (and yes, I know Gawker could just as easily get them from Twitter, but it shows Chucky’s mindset and worldview).

So, I have been following some of The Donald’s™ great business strategies all afternoon from the previous thread.

Is he going to be filing for bankruptcy soon? Again.

At the rate it is going everyone he does business with will have put on their track shoes and run from the World’s Greatest Business Man by this weekend.

Brilliant.

I still think he is capable of tearing down the GOP presidential run, but damn, I did not think he was also going to destroy himself and all his business at the same time.

Also, did he fire Carlos Slim yet..before Carlos fires him?

Trump’s great business strategy boils down to the following:

1) get a sizable inheritance from dad - which includes a big portfolio of NYC metro area real estate;
2) get others to pay for your business mistakes - avoid personal bankruptcy and get creditors (suckers) to lose their shirts instead;
3) Go to 2 4x and continue;
4) Play up your name as a brand even as all your shiny stuff turns out to be gold plated crap;
5) Attempt to take on airlines and fail;
6) Attempt to take on the NFL and fail;
7) Run a paper mill masquerading as a “university” and hope that the state AGs wont notice (they did); and
8) Complain about outsourcing manufacturing to China even though his clothing line is made in China.

He still manages to build new skyscrapers and the occasional golf course, but even there he benefits from state and local tax breaks that are available to developers (when he’s not complaining about big government, he’s seeking their handouts).

Is it wrong of me for thinking some Cuban-Americans i.e. Rubio, Cruz, Medenez are spoiled brats? I mean I won’t try to call Cuba a democratic regime at all but these guys do realize that we do business with far worse regimes than Cuba daily. If you have a sincere problem with us doing relations with totalitarian regimes fine I respect that but I never see these guys complain about China, Saudi Arabia, or anywhere else. I also think Cuban-Americans like these guys need to realize that the Castro regime is far form the only totalitarian show in town. And I deeply apologize if I offended any lizards from Cuba or of Cuban background here, it’s just that I am tired of the Cuban lobby and its political allies acting like we can’t do business with Cuba. If we can do business with the PRC, Saudi Arabia, and Vietnam, than we can do business with Cuba. If Cuba wasn’t so close to us and if we didn’t have so many failed operations to overthrow the government there, this wouldn’t be an issue to most people.

The US has an embassy in Israel (Tel Aviv), and it has a consulate in Jerusalem.

Congress enacted legislation in 1995 ordering the location of the embassy to Jerusalem, but Clinton, Bush, and now Obama have not moved it because it would interfere with their foreign policy objectives - and because the final status of Jerusalem is still TBD by the parties in final status talks (if and when that ever happens).

Why Are White Racists Always Called “White Trash”?

To be a dumb, “white trash” killer from “South Carolina,” then, is to fit the contemporary description of a “racist,” whether from the right or the left, perfectly. Should actual details of the killer’s life fall outside the stereotype, they will have to be forced into it for any societal closure to occur. It will likely mean nothing that Dylann Roof comes from a middle-class household, or that he is not stupid: At the very least, he was sharp enough to know that attacking a black church—Denmark Vesey’s church, no less, and on the anniversary of Vesey’s attempted liberation—and killing nine black people, including a black churchman and elected official, was the most incendiary act he could possibly perpetrate. He was sufficiently far-seeing to transpose the images of apartheid South Africa and Rhodesia—former British colonies like South Carolina whose especially virulent racism, much like South Carolina’s, originated in the fear of a black majority visiting upon their overlords the same unkind favors delivered unto them—onto his vision of a United States on the verge of being overtaken by black insurrection. Certainly, he was a strong reader of the message delivered to him daily, in real American life through radio and through television, and last but not least online: That the assertion of black humanity, whether expressed in churches, marches, or riots, constitutes a mortal danger to white lives and livelihoods.

None of this can count in the eyes of the national media because it steps beyond the given cultural narrative, that anti-black racism is purely the province of accented simpletons in greasy overalls as opposed to what it is really—a web of suppositions and insinuations whose cruelty animates the minds and words and acts of Americans of all classes and all political ideologies. The guilt for Roof’s killings falls primarily and overwhelmingly on Roof himself, but its shadow touches all non-black Americans, with an especial emphasis on the white Americans who profit most from anti-black racism. But since these white Americans happen to be—at once, and not coincidentally—America’s wealthiest demographic, the primary audience for the national media, and the people most confident of their innocence, the media coverage of the killings so far has a muffled feel to it. The chase for Roof is over, but the quest to get away from what his act implies about his various social milieux (white, South Carolinian, Southern, American) goes on.

re: #104 lawhawk

The US has an embassy in Israel (Tel Aviv), and it has a consulate in Jerusalem.

Congress enacted legislation in 1995 ordering the location of the embassy to Jerusalem, but Clinton, Bush, and now Obama have not moved it because it would interfere with their foreign policy objectives - and because the final status of Jerusalem is still TBD by the parties in final status talks (if and when that ever happens).

It’s easy to make these kind of demands when you’re a freshman senator who rarely attends meetings and prefers to make his name as a right wing demagogue rather than being a senator.

Rechecked by disallowing, and noticed other breakage, such as being stuck on Front Page. Previously, NoScript had whitelisted googleapis[dot]com —which of course included all sub-domains implicitly, and was overly permissive. Latest version supposedly whitelists ajax.googleapis[dot]com but for whatever reason, I had to explicitly allow it.

re: #162 BeachDem

I love miniaturization. One of the coolest attractions I’ve ever visited:

google.com

I was always amazed by some HO gauge model railroad layouts. You should know where this is BeachDem.

This video is of the Columbus Model Railroad Club’s layout. It is in an old switching tower on the grounds of Columbus Steel Castings, the old Buckeye Steel Castings plant out on south Parson’s Avenue.

Nice political tie in too. From a wiki page ob Buckeye:

Buckeye Steel Castings was a Columbus, Ohio steelmaker best known today for its longtime president, Samuel P. Bush, who was the grandfather of President George H.W. Bush and great-grandfather of President George W. Bush.

Buckeye, named for the Ohio Buckeye tree, was founded in Columbus as the Murray-Hayden Foundry, which made iron farm implements. Finding success manufacturing iron railroad car couplers, the name changed to the Buckeye Automatic Car Coupler Company in 1891 and Buckeye Malleable Iron and Coupler Company in 1894. Eventually demand for stronger coupling assemblies led to a switch to steel and the name Buckeye Steel Castings.

The video is a cell phone video traveling around the whole layout. The layout is big! The video is 21 minutes plus. That is how big!

I saw it many years ago and was totally fascinated by its size and detail. They are always working on it and adding to it.

OT but I just realized I never posted an update about my knee replacement surgery and it’s been a month since it was done. Everything went very well. About 3 hours after the surgery the nurses had me up and walking around the room. Had some swelling but the ice pack machine kept it to a minimum. Have physical therapy twice a week since then. Now walking around without a limp. I do believe my Physical Therapist trained at the GITMO School of Physical Therapy as I feel completely beat up after each session. But, no pain, no gain. My best PT is my recumbent bicycle exercise machine I have at home. Use it a couple of times a day.

THE FED!!

Rand Paul Predicts Possible Stock Market Crash Because of Fed

Republican presidential candidate Rand Paul is warning that a stock market crash may be coming because the Federal Reserve has kept interest rates from fluctuating, Radio Iowa reported.

“People say, ‘Oh, we can just do that forever,’” the Kentucky senator said Wednesday, according to the radio network. “I don’t think so. I think there’ll be a day of reckoning.”

Paul’s family has a long history of Fed criticism. His father, former congressman (and three-time presidential candidate) Ron Paul, wrote a book called “End the Fed.” The younger Paul, who hasn’t gone quite that far (his campaign mantra is “audit the Fed”), made his comments while campaigning in Sioux City.

352 freetoken  Jul 1, 2015 3:12:18pm

Paper in Cognition looks at why people believe in creationism:

“Override the controversy: Analytic thinking predicts endorsement of evolution”

Despite overwhelming scientific consensus, popular opinions regarding evolution are starkly divided. In
the USA, for example, nearly one in three adults espouse a literal and recent divine creation account of human origins. Plausibly, resistance to scientific conclusions regarding the origins of species—like much resistance to other scientific conclusions (Bloom & Weisberg, 2007)—gains support from reliably developing intuitions. Intuitions about essentialism, teleology, agency, and order may combine to make creationism potentially more cognitively attractive than evolutionary concepts. However, dual process approaches to cognition recognize that people can often analytically override their intuitions. Two large studies (total N = 1324) found consistent evidence that a tendency to engage analytic thinking predicted endorsement of evolution, even controlling for relevant demographic, attitudinal, and religious variables. Meanwhile, exposure to religion predicted reduced endorsement of evolution. Cognitive style is one factor among many affecting opinions on the origin of species.

Seems like a lot of work to show that magical thinkers are so big into analysis.

FWIW, I’ve always shown up as “intuitive” by various measures, yet that never kept me from embracing science at a young age.

The real sad thing is that Perot turned out to be spot on in regards to NAFTA. And then when the whole Lewinsky affair broke wide open and Phil Gramm switched sides and became a Republican, the GOP and neo-liberals rammed through the three most toxic pieces of legislation that Clinton signed that almost (although some will will argue wer’re still in) caused a Second Depression:

(1) Repeal of Glass-Steagal
(2) Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act
(3) Commodity Futures Modernization Act

And then when C-Plus Augustus minor was President, he sealed the deal with the Bankruptcy Reform act of 2003.

And it’s even worse now in the Obama era, since the head of the SEC, a former DOJ Prosecutor (Mary Jo White) is married to the lead attorney of a firm who represents many of the financial service firms whose supervision falls under the SEC purview.
