Breitbart “News” Hack John Nolte Invents “Gag Order” Fake Outrage About Anti-Gay Oregon Bakery

Dangerously deranged
Wingnuts • Views: 61,000

Breitbart “News” hack John Nolte is really cranking out the fake outrage posts lately. Today he’s raging and ranting about “overt fascism” because the fanatical Oregon bakery owners who wanted to refuse service to a lesbian couple are being subjected to what he labels a “gag order” by “the Left.” (Capital L Left.)

What’s really happening is that Oregon has a law prohibiting businesses from publishing or communicating that they plan to discriminate against people based on “race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, national origin, marital status or age.” Here’s the law: ORS 659A.409 - Notice That Discrimination Will Be Made in Place of Public Accommodation Prohibited - 2013 Oregon Revised Statutes.

And that’s why Oregon’s Commissioner of the Bureau of Labor and Industries ordered the bakery owners to stop doing this. It’s not a “gag order.” They’re not being prohibited from speaking about the case, and they’re not being prohibited from “opposing gay marriage.”

They’re prohibited from boasting that they plan to discriminate against gay people. It’s that simple.

And it’s not “the Left” — it’s Oregon state law.

Nolte’s entire post is deliberately misleading, utterly ridiculous right wing grievance theater garbage. And to top it off, this is what he tweeted to promote it:

This guy is seriously twisted — and he’s one of the main writers at Breitbart “News.” The right is getting increasingly, dangerously deranged.

LGF contributor “thecommodore” has compiled some excerpts of the hundreds and hundreds of horrifyingly bigoted and hateful comments posted at Breitbart for this trashy article: “HATE WINS” - Breitbart.com’s Reaction to OR Ruling Against Baker Who Refused to Serve Gay Couple.

The river of stoopid is flowing wide over the plains:

Nine Iowa lawmakers think same-sex marriage violates the separation of church and state

A group of Iowa lawmakers released a statement this week saying they opposed a Supreme Court ruling that legalized same-sex marriage nationwide because of the “separation of church and state.”

“Today a group of my colleagues and I sent out a press release in response to the baseless opinion of the U.S. Supreme Court concerning marriage. We will have to stand up the the excesses of all three branches of our federal government,” Republican state Senator Jason Schultz wrote on his Facebook page.

Nine state senators and representatives signed the document, which proclaims that “the rights of mankind are anchored in Natural Law.”

The statement claims that same-sex marriage violates natural law because same-sex couples cannot reproduce.

Wow. They’re openly twisting and distorting the meaning of words now. This is a direct result of media letting the Christian right get away with redefining “religious freedom” as a license to hate and discriminate.

re: #4 Charles Johnson

Along the lines of redefining words, note how “religious liberty” is now the euphemism for not doing one’s job because of bigotry:

Marriage equality and religious freedom collide in Granbury

[…]

Their struggle — which began when County Clerk Katie Lang refused to issue such licenses, citing religious reasons, and grew with their plan to file a federal lawsuit to get the license — reached a flashpoint Thursday in this small town about 40 miles southwest of Fort Worth.

Religious freedom squared off against marriage equality Thursday as demonstrators for each stated their cases, at times loudly, on opposite sides of the historic courthouse in Granbury’s Town Square.

[…]

Commenters are taking the Star-Telegram terms to task.

Yeah. No mention of any firearms so this guy probably wasn’t dangerous, but if the Panther is in running condition or can be restored to same, I do hope we get some footage of it on the move. It was a pretty impressive tank, although more on paper than in real life.

But seeing that Panther and that 88 remind us of how brave the US tankers who had to face them were. Both the 88 and the Panther’s 75mm 70 cal. gun could penetrate the US Sherman from any angle, and were longer ranged at that.

Here’s a fun story:

Morongo Tribe Rides to Colt’s Rescue

A business-savvy tribe of Native Americans, the Morongo Band of Mission Indians, is riding to the rescue of Colt Defense LLC, the embattled gun maker caught up in a contentious bankruptcy case.

Private-equity owner Sciens Capital Management has been clashing with bondholders over control of Colt. Sciens had the upper hand, but bondholders then moved into the lead, offering to finance a turnaround via the chapter 11 proceeding that began June 14. At this point, the fate of the Connecticut company, which has roots that run back to the 19th century, is unknown.

After the initial dustups in the bankruptcy brawl, the Morongo tribe had its lawyers on the phone to everyone concerned, offering to open talks with the maker of the “gun that won the West.”

“We are the West,” said Drew Ryce, attorney for the Morongo tribe, which is based in Southern California near Palm Springs. “All we know is that the company failed and we don’t want that to happen. It’s an iconic American company. It shouldn’t fail. It shouldn’t go away.”

You gotta see the final paragraph:

For Colt’s Native American suitors, it’s not just business; it’s history, interest and commitment, their attorney said. “We have gone to great lengths to get our hands on Colts,” he said. “Just ask General Custer.”

There is nothing dignified about being a slave. Nothing. Justice Thomas was wrong. Full stop. George Takei was absolutely correct to take on Thomas’ nonsensical ravings masquerading as a Supreme Court dissent. This is the same George Takei whose family suffered at the hands of the US Government’s interment program for Japanese Americans that was later found unconstitutional (but for which right wingers like Michelle Malkin think were legit and should be considered for Muslim Americans during the WoT). So, while FDR was a Democrat and his move was wrong, that doesn’t make all future Democrat actions wrong or immoral even as Democrats try to right wrongs against minorities, just as certainly as Lincoln’s actions to end slavery and defeat the insurrectionist Confederacy don’t give all successor GOPers a pass on the racism that they’ve come to fully embrace (or refuse to denounce, which is just as bad).

Meanwhile, there is nothing scientific about being anti-vax, or claiming that the immune system can’t handle the number of vaccines being mandated.

There is nothing fascist about being required to be vaccinated against diseases that are entirely preventable (see my Twitter feed for the ongoing anti-vaxxer claiming just that - where even her statements/claims are actually proof of need for vaccination, not a rebuttal). And don’t get me started that public health is somehow fascist - that’s a slap at anyone who actually suffered at the hands of fascists.

55 freetoken  Jul 3, 2015 12:52:00pm

Meanwhile, over in supposedly progressive Denmark:

Science minister doubts Darwin: God created Earth

Esben Lunde Larsen - the new minister for education and research, who will be responsible for scientific research in Denmark - is making headlines due to his scientific scepticism and belief that God created the Earth.

When asked by Jyllands-Posten whether humans are descended from apes, the 36-year-old from the so-called Bible belt near Rinkøbing answered that there was a divine hand at play.

“I think there is a creator God behind it. How he has done it, I haven’t considered too much,” he said.

When asked whether the Earth was created in a Big Bang, the new minister appeared to favour the biblical version of events.

“I believe there is a creator God behind most things in the world, and how it was created is explained by the Bible on the one hand and by science on the other,” he said.

[…]

The last time Larsen made the headlines was last year when the politician publicly declared that he would only refer to black people as ‘negre’ - a term considered by many to be derogatory.

Well, from what I read it was running back during the late 1970’s* but hadn’t gone out in recent decades. It seems restorable, though it must be noted that the Panther’s many mechanical problems mean restoring is harder than restoring a Sherman or a T-34 to running condition.

Not that familiar with Fred Meyer. The Moms Demand Action boycott was about Kroger allowing people to open carry while shopping in the stores. They did a series of spots showing that things like ice cream cones and bare feet were not allowed in Kroger, but all kinds of guns were.

Contract negotiations coming up again soon, so we’ll get to hear them poor-mouthing about how they can’t afford to raise wages/maintain the healthcare benefits/et alia. Contract negotiations coming up again soon, so we’ll get to hear them poor-mouthing about how they can’t afford to raise wages/maintain the healthcare benefits/et alia. There are ‘Hiring’ signs up at every store in our neighborhood because they’re having such a hard time keeping employees with the crap they keep pulling on employees.

Even deader thread. In Ohio, Big Bear was a local chain that was in business for about 60 years before it got swallowed by Penn Traffic, which ran it into the ground in about 3 years. So sad.

A good grocery chain story (if you can keep the family names straight) is DeMoulas Market Basket in New England.
