Right Wingers Circulate Photoshop Fake of Young Hillary Clinton With a Confederate Flag

Images • Views: 126,529

This morning an iconic image of a 20-something Hillary Rodham in her Wellesley college dorm, wearing psychedelic pants, was “discovered” to have a Confederate flag in the background! Nobody ever noticed it before because we were all dazzled by the trip-inducing pattern of her pants.

Interestingly, the first photo to appear in my Twitter feed this morning was from @Bipartisanism, a liberal account. When I pointed out that the photo did not match other instances of the picture and that it was a Photoshop, he deleted the Tweet.

Confederate flag in the background? Who knew?

Wingnuts highlighted the flag, in case you were too tripped out by the pants:

But 5 seconds of Google image search showed that the flag was never in any of the previous images, particularly this one tagged by GettyImages at Huffington Post in 2012:

A Tineye search for the first instance of this real photo on the Internet leads back to our old friend zombietime, in April 15, 2008 (donotlinked)

You’d think if there was a Confederate flag in the background, zombie would have noticed? And you would think somebody might have noticed before today?

Admit it, you were all dazzled by the psychedelic pants!

UPDATE

First instance of the fake photo at this wingnut site (donotlinked)

Yeah. There were a number of places to go bowling in and around Park Ridge back in the day. Still are a couple, that I know of . I know Maine East had a bowling club back then, but I’m not sure if they still do.

The preceding references the Chicago suburb where Hillary Clinton grew up. It’s not meant to be hostile, just semi-informative.

Those pants remind me of a pair of pants I bought for myself from Chess King in 1970. They were striped, but they also had a bit of a large houndstooth pattern as well, and they were brown, black and burgundy. They were also made of wool! I thought they were so groovy. I only wore them a couple of times because there was no way to match a shirt to them and they were itchy as hell, but they were so cool when I bought them.

There’s a much easier way to embed tweets at LGF - just right-click on the tweet’s timestamp, then “Copy Link” and paste the link into a comment. No need to use that “Embed Tweet” code. All you need is the link to the tweet.

That’s the problem with living in The Bubble - you keep being surprised that not everyone agrees with you, or thinks you’re not full of shit. They also mis-and/or overinterpret polls, so that if they see 40% of Americans oppose marriage equality, they assume those 40% will choose that hill to die on, rather than simply thinking, “Nah, don’t really like it, but it looks like that ship has sailed.”

I was born at the very end of the 70’s, but I have childhood memories of goldenrod shag carpet, mustard-yellow and avocado green rotary phones, paisley wallpaper, and bright red corduroys. I still get a kick out of the fact that antique stores here in Texas have entire rooms dedicated to 70’s avocado green items.

I had an apartment when I stationed at Ft. Lewis, Washington. Would have been mid 90’s or so. Place was called not “The Evergreens”, or “Mountain View” or any of 100 names that would be appropriate to the area. It was called the “Kon Tiki” and had the tiki statues, lanterns and pavilions to match.

The best part is that the apartment (and it was a very nice apartment) was the Harvest Gold deep shag carpet, and the appliances and fixtures were Avocado Green. Thing is, it wasn’t old stuff, it looked like it was just installed a year or so ago.

I think that there was something in the dyes that made that stuff last forever.

i had two white shirts with purple paisley patterns when I was in junior high. No buttons, just a half-length zipper with a O-shaped pull. I wore one of them for my school picture in ‘70 or ‘71, so it’s been immortalized. With a necktie, too, since we boys had to wear one for the photos.

Now I look at it and think, why? What was I thinking?

One of my fb friends posted a video of the guy from “Family Guy” riding a dolphin naked set to so called “house music” (she likes that shit)…it actually woke Fozzie up from his sleep…he stared at the TV for a sec, then realized it was coming from my computer and gave me the dirtiest look. I replayed it and taped him…once I get it onto Youtube I’ll share it. Fucking hilarious.

Here it is…transcript is as follows:
Wha? What is that crap?

Is it the TV?

No…it’s coming from you!

Anyone up for a shaggy dog story?

Forget What I Said. That Scott Walker Call? Never Happened

Last Wednesday, Stephen Moore, a scholar at the Heritage Foundation who is an outspoken supporter of an immigration overhaul, described a recent telephone call with Gov. Scott Walker of Wisconsin, in which he said Mr. Walker had assured him he had not completely renounced his earlier support for a pathway to citizenship for illegal immigrants.

On Sunday, after three days of pressure from Mr. Walker’s aides, Mr. Moore said that he had “misspoken” when recounting his call with Mr. Walker — and that the call had never actually taken place.

I am SHOCKED someone associated with Heritage might be lacking in integrity! /

Walker office already acts as if records exemption is law

Gov. Scott Walker announced over the weekend that Republicans were abandoning their plan to create new exceptions to the state’s open records law, but for months the all-but-certain presidential candidate has been operating as if one exemption already was in place.

Two months ago, Walker declined to release records related to his proposal to rewrite the University of Wisconsin System’s mission statement and erase the Wisconsin Idea from state law. He argued he didn’t have to provide those records to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel and others because they were part of his office’s internal deliberations.

The Progressive magazine and the liberal Center for Media and Democracy sued Walker over those denials. The cases have been combined, and the litigation is pending in Dane County Circuit Court.

No but she could pick the other legislator like him - Senator Tammy Baldwin. She’s a good, honest, leftist Democrat who’s been pushing single payer as long as I’ve known her. She’s also a lesbian which might be a big help with the left for Hillary, more than enough to offset some of the right wing hate.

Water carrier for Walker drops a giant lie into the states largest newspaper without one shred of evidence to back up his ridiculous claims.

Wisconsin’s business climate outshines Minnesota

President Barack Obama addressed that question during a visit to Wisconsin last week. In his mind, comparing the Wisconsin and Minnesota economies discredits Republican governor and presidential hopeful Scott Walker’s reforms and promotes those pursued by progressive Democrats like him and Minnesota Gov. Mark Dayton.

The problem is that any history professor worth his or her salt will tell you it is far too early in Walker’s tenure to determine how his pro-business reforms have impacted Wisconsin’s long-term economic competitiveness. That is especially true when you consider that Walker’s first term was marred by protests and a series of recall elections that delayed a lot of business decisions because of the uncertainty they created.

Even so, many indicators are bullish on Wisconsin’s future economic prospects. For example, business optimism is sky high and many leading rankings on both business climate and economic outlook have shown dramatic improvement for Wisconsin since 2011 when Walker took office. Minnesota hasn’t done nearly as well in many of those same rankings.

This is his evidence. Business optimism.

OT, I finished listening to the CCJ interview with Adam Carolla. Not much new there, but now he says GotNewsDotCom has 6,000 researchers. That’s 1,000 more than he said a couple of weeks ago.

I gather CCJ is trying a new tactic to drive people to his website — appear on podcasts and radio shows. Carolla must have mentioned the website at least a half dozen times during the podcast.

Carolla also described GotNewsDotCom as a “new website.” It’s a year old.

Another softball interview. The Milo interview was way more interesting.

Carolla is another one of those conservatives who feels put upon whenever someone from “The Left” objects to his views. He went on and on about some PBS station in Cali not running an interview with him about his book, because the interview “didn’t go the way they wanted.” Clearly, he’s buying CCJ’s contention that Twitter is censoring him, because Twitter wants to be a LeftWing/SJW vehicle only. They failed to mention that Dim Jim, Dana L, Dan Riehl and a host of other cons are still on Twitter, unbanned and uncensored because they, like, follow the rules.

Crybabies, the both of them.

CCJ said he filed a complaint with the FCC because Twitter favored net neutrality, but net neutrality says no one can be censored, so Twitter is something something something. And his lawsuit against Twitter is still pending.

Just reading a thing about tanks. He mentioned how the classic saying is “don’t volunteer for anything” - but sometime if you do you get the best jobs.

I remembered being at basic training for the Armor School at Ft. Knox. It was saturday and everyone would have a detail. We were asked for volunteers for “cleaning” duty. I raised my hand.

I got sent to the Armor museum. I spent the day dusting a Tiger tank and Patton’s car. It was the most wonderful day of my time at Ft. Knox.

Those who didn’t volunteer? They spent the day picking up litter on the main road into the post…

I was reading a fascinating book called Hitler’s Panzers. It was all about the development and then the de-evolution of Germany’s armored force in WW2. What surprised me was first, I had forgotten how few Tiger tanks were made, and second, they really held up. There weren’t too many battlefield losses, in comparison with abandoned vehicles. You would think they had to scout ahead just to find bridges that would hold them.

Back when I was in Comm battalion, I was senior corporal and the aide to our Platoon Sgt. We noticed that any time we called for volunteers, the same two Marines always jumped to while everyone else took their sweet ass time to respond.

So one Friday morning, the Platoon Sgt told me to handle it.

“Hey, I need 2 volunteers!”

The same 2 guys came right over.

“OK, you guys take off. We’ll see you Monday. Everyone else, FALL IN! We’re doing a Field Day of the Office, start pulling everything out from the walls!”

The Germans had some great tanks, but they lacked the resources to build and run them late in the war.

The early marks of Panzers were more armored fighting vehicles, lacking anti-armor cannons, relying on heavy machine guns and light automatic cannons

When I was in basic training there was a real push for “truck drivers”. Everyone thought the drivers would be pushing brooms. I reluctantly volunteered and found out it really was driving a 2 ton stake truck hauling the trainees out to the various ranges. It was easy. Drive the truck out to the range and sit around until it was time to go back. When our basic company had base guard duty I got to drive the Lt. around in a jeep.

I missed more than half the basic training (and PT!) while I was at Basic at Ft. Dix,

I’m glad to see the “Hillary Confederate Flag photo is a Fake” going viral on Twitter. The fake photo is still getting lots of RT’s to be sure, by the usual swarm of idiots most of whom I have blocked.

Sad to say, liberals (I think we used to call them “moonbats”) are not immune to this same type of Photoshop fakery. I keep seeing this fake photo of Scottt Walker wearing women’s underwear and making the nazi salute while sprawled on a swastika rug. It gets sent to me at least a couple of times a week but I have to inform people that it’s a fake.

More Fake Fakeness, the “Columbia Foreign Student ID Card” shown earlier in this thread, which was actually copied from a German student’s ID. So lame that it contained the same ID# as the original ID, misspelled “Soetero” and barcodes did not appear on Columbia IDs until 1996.

I think we should have an archive of all the Fake Fakenesses that have been circulating on both sides just to keep track of them all.

They did have to do that. And it’s one reason the various bridges in Europe (or at least the ones I saw in Germany) are marked with weight limits to help with moving tanks and other military stuff around.

And the Germans had a very well developed tank recovery and repair service in their military. Excellent to the point where they had to send tanks back to the factories for repair.

It’s one reason Rommel lasted as long as he did in North Africa since if he held the battlefield they could recover and put back into service most of their disabled tanks as well as salvage and use British equipment. I remember reading in one book that British infantry in one battle were specifically setting abandoned German tanks on fire to prevent their later recovery.

re: #151 Feline Fearless Leader

What happens if the Greek economy totally crashes out though? I expect in part you’d see a sudden influx of refugees into neighboring countries of people looking for work or at least a way to get some stability and basic resources.

One idea that’s being floated around is no more bailouts, kick Greece out of the EZ (not the EU, mind you), offer Greece humanitarian aid, and offer investment assistance.

Earlier today, it was reported that of the 19 EZ countries, 15 were ready to say “Adieu” to Greece. I personally don’t doubt that for one minute. Even though the Czech Republic isn’t part of the EZ, the general attitude among Czechs is “fuck ‘em.”

A German official admitted earlier today that admitting Greece into the Eurozone was “a mistake”. I think the Germans at least, along with the Baltic States, Slovakia certainly, and quite a few others are simply at the end of their patience with Greece. It’s a money pit, basically.

re: #120 Kragar

The Germans had some great tanks, but they lacked the resources to build and run them late in the war.

The early marks of Panzers were more armored fighting vehicles, lacking anti-armor cannons, relying on heavy machine guns and light automatic cannons

They had three major advantages over the Allied tanks at that time; ergonomics, tactics and communications.

German tanks were much better designed. Even the two man turrets of the Panzer IIs were better than the other side’s. The three man turrets of the IIIs and IVs meant that every one; loader, gunner and commander had only one thing to do. As opposed to most Allied tanks where one man turrets were common.

In tactics the Panzers practiced combined arms. People look at the tanks and think that’s what made the Panzers so powerful. In fact it was that infantry, artillery, engineers and aircraft were co-ordinated into a single flexible unit. They could concentrate the right weapons at the right point to get the job done.

And finally, radios. They were ubiquitous in the Panzers and that made it easy to reconnoitre, plan and react. Their opponents took hours to react to changing conditions, sometimes days at the higher levels. The Panzers could do it at once.

Can you tell I’ve spent way too much time studying WWII? ;)

It wouldn’t be a problem, but the zoom lens I have does not focus to infinity at 300mm at the extreme rotation of the focus ring. Infinity is just a few degrees before full stop. I need to try my 200 mm Nikkor prime focus, assuming I still have it here in China.

Also, I’m near sighted and wear contact lenses most of the time. If I’d worn my glasses, I could probably find a sharp focus easier.

Like I said, it was that “We’re all gonna be one big happy family!” that gripped Europe in the period after the Cold War came to an end.

Greece has had underlying systemic economic problems for a very long time; for as long as I’ve been alive, at least (45 years). Hell, even a Nineteenth Century travelogue I read years ago described Greece as very poor, with dodging the taxman as something of a sport. True - in theory, the EZ is designed to be permanent. However, I’m pretty sure either the markets or the EZ member-states will find a way to boot them out.

There is a North/South divide in the EU and the EZ, no doubt about that. The Northern countries are definitely hardasses about things. I’ve read some of the comments from the reps of the Baltic States - which underwent some very severe austerity not all that long ago - and they can’t understand WTF is it with the Greeks that they can’t just suck it up? After all, they reason, if they had extremely high unemployment and a majority of the population living on cat food, well…..why isn’t that good enough for the Greeks, then?

Needless to say, folks down South (in the EU) don’t see things that way.

Yeah, exactly. We have a couple of Subway shops here in Ostrava, and how they stay in business, I have no idea. Maybe they’re money-laundering fronts, LOL.

Subway is one of two sandwich shops across the street for me. So it’s convenient. Everything else is a bit of a walk. But I bring my lunch most days.

The thing about Greece having its own currency is that it would force people to spend money in Greece - because, really, who, outside of Greece, is going to accept a new Greek currency that will likely rise in numbers equal to the Lira?

I was in Greece just before the Euro started. Drachmas were as bad as Lira back then. Also, as far as places I’d like to see again, it ranks pretty low - yeah, ancient ruins and shit, but even the Marriott sucked and the city (Athens) itself was filthy once you stepped outside the museums.

I actually really like their bread—the meat and other ingredients is another matter. Haven’t had any problems with undercooked bread from them. The other sandwich shop near me is the opposite-much better meat, cheaper bread that crumbles easily.

Here we quite a few other choices, mostly Czech cuisine, but also kebab stands, hot dogs, pub food (which is quite good, btw) and assorted pizza and Chinese restaurants. Almost all of them are less expensive than Subway as well.

I always thought Jared was a bit of a freak for eating Subway that much…I can handle a sandwich from there every now and then, but they’re not ‘good’ or even ‘tasty’…they’re just placeholders to keep me from having a growling stomach for eight hours when I’m on a long drive.

You know, for people who don’t know shit about nutrition and dieting, having a half a sandwich with veggies all the time - and cutting out all the other bullshit - will make people lose weight. It’s simple calories in and out. Even if he did nothing physically, taking in three Subway sandwiches a day (assuming you do a lot of veggies and not a lot of sauces) will guarantee weight loss.

According to a Best Week Ever exclusive from back in 2007, while at Indiana University, Jared ran a black market pornography rental service straight out of his dorm room. From Best Week Ever:

His porn collection was vast and extensive, and Fogle took his business pretty seriously. A video would run a patron a dollar a day (cheap!), and people would come from all over to take advantage of the deal. Needless to say, Jared had enough porn to keep his customers happy.

Fundamentalism, though its believers would certainly deny it, is bi-theistic, and some versions with an extensive belief in demons, could be classified as polytheistic. Fundies, as you say, give Satan a lot of power, while also insisting God has more power. But the only way to get God to be on your side is to implore him. Otherwise, Satan will make you do bad stuff. But Jesus will forgive you afterward.

The Jared Foundation guy arrested earlier appears to have some real issues. How it ties into Fogle himself is not clear but this is messy.

Indianapolis Star - Police investigation underway at home of Subway pitchman Jared Fogle

In May, the former Jared Foundation executive director was arrested on federal child pornography charges.

Russell Taylor, 43, attempted suicide on May 6 at the Marion County Jail and was placed on life support.

Tim Horty, a spokesman for the U.S. attorney’s office, said Tuesday that Taylor’s health is improving and he is in the custody of the U.S. Marshals Service.

He faces seven counts of production of child pornography and one count of possession of child pornography.

State police detectives began investigating Taylor after getting a tip from an acquaintance, according to court documents.

A woman was exchanging texts of a sexual nature with Taylor when he asked if she wanted to see pictures of young girls, court documents said. The woman was concerned and called police.

Federal charges. Production of Child Porn. FBI, State Police and Postal Service all involved. And he tried to off himself.

And yeah, the guy was arrested in May. He tried to off himself and since then he has probably had a lot of interviews with forensic psychologists which has probably had a lot to do with today.

Yeah, at this rate, they’re going to go through the whole clown parade, like they did in 2011-12, with everybody getting their 15 minutes as frontrunner, only they’re going to have to go through the whole list over and over again (unless they can recruit a bunch more idiots). By November of next year, everybody is going to be completely used to the idea that Hillary’s next. It’ll simply be a done deal in most people’s minds.

Speaking of pedophiles:

Jill Duggar is leaving for a lengthy mission trip ahead of possible lawsuit against molester brother

Lengthy mission to an undisclosed country. Sounds like a beachfront cottage in Palau to me.

You just know that someone is going to find her and expose the ‘mission’ for what it is.

Jared could be guilty, or this guy could just be trying to implicate him to take the heat off himself. Or both. This wouldn’t be the first fishing expedition like this the FBI’s engaged in. Problem is, once they start looking, they’re going to find something. One way or another.

He’s busy claiming that he’s all for made in the US and American workers rights, except when he’s busy trying to max out his bottom line. That’s when he goes with construction contractors who aren’t using union workers, and are hiring illegal aliens to do the work.

That’s TrumpPatriotismTM in a nutshell

So I did a news search for ‘Trump hired illegals’, and with few exceptions, the results are all from wingnut blogs saying “The MSM got their marching orders to destroy Trump!”

You’d think that at some point, people would catch on to the bullshit.

I read a book the other day by one of my fav authors (Against All Enemies by John Gilstrap) and while the bad guys were of the insane militia types, all the characters hated the president who was corrupt, scandal-plagued, etc. I will admit that many of the supposed scandals were more of the Bush era, but you could tell that isn’t where the author was going.

Anyway, it made me think about the XXCommitte guy. This was a guy who was that the war college (I think that’s where he was…at one of the military learning institutes) and how reading him these days made me sad. This is a guy who should know better…and if this is what he thinks, what do others think (really believe, not just think). That made me even sadder.

The divide and conquer, party above country bullshit of the GOP really has damaged our nation. Throw in Fox news with continual lying bullshit and the other media dancing around truth and really…how long does a country exist like that? How long do we exist when you have half of the elected officials actively blocking a functional government due to ideology (be it GOP or religious ideology, same difference really)?

In a SF novel I read years ago ‘went, “Oh shit!”’ was slang for dying.

“What ever happened to Trevor? I haven’t seen him around in a while.”
“He went, ‘Oh shit!’ about a year ago.”

They had a ‘Wall of “Going Oh Shit!”’ to commemorate their dead.

They missed the stupidest/craziest passage in CCJ’s rant:

There’s a photo making the rounds of Roof supposedly wearing a pin from pre-1990 apartheid South Africa and of Rhodesia. This supposed revelation caused Rhodesia (modern day Zimbabwe) to trend on Twitter….

On a personal note: the nicest dog on my paper route when I was a boy was a Rhodesian Ridgeback. Your humble reader has some friends from Rhodesia who are Jews who opposed apartheid but nevertheless fled Zimbabwe.

That’s some high IQ journalamisim there!

1) Nothing wrong with the flag
2) But it’s a Democrat flag
3) So Hillary would like it
4) That’s why, even if the image is photoshopped, it doesn’t matter
5) Because she would have liked the flag anyway
6) So she’s a bad person
7) But there’s nothing wrong with the flag
8) By the way, she’s ugly9) Republicans freed the slaves!
10) Black people only vote Democrat to get free welfares & food stamps!

11. She’s too OLD.
(She’s younger than Romney and McCain)
12. SO? She’s too OLD!
(Women, statistically, live longer than men)
13. SO FREAKIN’ WHAT?

re: #371 ObserverArt

How do you know the picture of Hillary without the Confederate flag isn’t a fake???

You can use Photoshop to remove things too!

Obviously the Libtards have reasons for taking it out of the photo to protect her as she runs for president.

////

This is why we can never discuss things that matter in this country. The right invents an issue, then Gish Gallops away with it.

There is something about the ‘shopped image with the Confederate I noticed right off when it was posted at first the other day. So I did a redo of it and added what I noticed. It is very very subtle, but then it would be.

Let’s have a contest to see if the sharp LGF members can spot what I added and what the original Photoshopper should have to help make it more convincing. You might need to click on the image to see the larger image so you can compare.

If you look at the original image it might help.

Eh. That wont go anywhere. The state at least has a Lt. Gov., and that’s better than the old situation where it wasn’t clear who was in charge when the governor was out of state.

And by having a lieutenant governor, it gives the GOP the option to run her as Christie will be term limited.

Which Trump is kind enough to hire instead of American workers to do his construction projects, so he can make even more money than he otherwise would be able to (and depressing American salaries to boot - particularly because he’s not employing union trade workers).

re: #427 Dr. Matt

Yep. Can’t slide anything by Lizards. But then, it was all about the flag so there was only one place to look to see what I had done.

It’s little things like a proper shadow that makes things convincing. And since the flag is standing out from the back wall, the shadow wouldn’t be on the same line as the shadow on the back wall as it would be shorter due to the differences in the two planes.
