In a letter to the House Energy and Commerce Committee, Planned Parenthood said it fell victim to a fake company called Biomax Procurement Services that posed as a buyer of human tissues. It was actually created by David Daleiden, an official of the group that released the video, and was engaged in “a campaign of corporate espionage” targeting Planned Parenthood, the letter said.

“A group of extremists who have intimidated women and doctors for years — in their agenda to ban abortion completely — are not ‘documenting’ misdeeds; they are trying to create them, quite unsuccessfully,” Planned Parenthood wrote to lawmakers.

Donald Trump is Chucky with a lot more money at his disposal. Entitled egotistical nut cases who think that everyone owes them something.

Memo - it’s the other way around. You are part of society and have to pay your way and be civil towards others.

Trump’s outbursts are indicative that he’s not stable enough to be President. He lacks the character and judgment to be president. It can’t get any clearer than that.

I think the worst nightmare for the GOP is that Trump keeps leading in the polls right up until the primaries actually begin, when he then pulls a Dean by imploding before he even reaches Super Tuesday.

37
HappyWarrior  Jul 20, 2015 • 2:46:33pm

So I am seeing that the Fox spin is that Trump was criticizing McCain’s Senate record. Riiiiiiiight. That’s why he specifically brought up being a POW. Really I lost whatever respect I had for John McCain politically years ago but for Donald Trump to spit on his service is pathetic.

38
goddamnedfrank  Jul 20, 2015 • 2:46:48pm

re: #13 Charles Johnson

How long the Trump surge lasts is an open question; this poll was conducted Thursday through Sunday, mostly before his controversial criticism Saturday of Sen. John McCain’s status as a war hero. And Trump’s support was conspicuously lower Sunday than in the three previous days.

I guess the question is how much damage Trump did to his campaign with his McCain remarks.

I’m guessing not very much.

We can’t forget this bit but the GOP base despises McCain. I thought it was telling that the most vocal and honestly most personal defense I saw of McCain came not from a fellow Republican but from Secretary of State Kerry.

42
ObserverArt  Jul 20, 2015 • 2:49:03pm

So, I see in the previous thread Johnny Kasich released his campaign logo image today. Rather underwhelming. I wonder if that is how his campaign will come off too.

Anyway, tomorrow the focus of the GOP will be here in Ohio’s Capitol City. It will be fun watching national media hit the city for something like this. He is going to be announcing from Ohio State University’s cool new student union. He’ll probably glom onto OSU football in some cheap manner…but he is a graduate.

It will be interesting to see if he can get any traction in the clown show and make it to the first debate up the road in Cleveland. I expect he’ll get an immediate bump in polls and shove someone out of the debates and get in. Being an ex-FOX yak head will help him too.

You can’t leave an Ohioan candidate out of the debate in his state when it is also where the RNC convention will be held. That would piss off Clevelanders that are Republicans.

He’ll manage to stir up some crap somehow. He always does. I see him as another Walker type Governor, but more politically polished. I think he will suck some of Walkers cred his way doing the same thing but better at it. He will also not be shy about going after Trump. He can be a dick to anyone!

Trump is going to benefit from the bandwagon effect. He will effectively shut out all the candidates who are not anointed (Walker, Bush).

The real question is how strong his legs are, and how good of a ground game he’ll have. So far I see him running entirely on bluster.

44
HappyWarrior  Jul 20, 2015 • 2:51:32pm

Here’s a sad fact. Trump would have lost more ground in the Republican polls if he said Ronald Reagan wasn’t all that than he (we see now that he actually gained ground) for trashing John McCain’s military service.

45
freetoken  Jul 20, 2015 • 2:52:19pm

Bluster… will get him far. Someday he will tire of this toy and just go away, but for now Trump seems to be relishing all the attention he is getting.

The GOP nomination has always been, in my opinion, between Walker and Bush. The rest are just there for show.

I do think Hillary will energize women in a way Obama energized the African-American community. I can’t speak for either being a white male but I think a lot of women will be genuinely excited that a woman will be at the top of the ticket and then you see Hillary’s attitudes about issues important to women and contrast that with whoever the GOP will nominate. I really think the GOP’s got a tough road ahead.

Almost a month after the U.S. Supreme Court ruled that same-sex marriage bans are unconstitutional, Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton quietly conceded a case against the federal government over medical leave benefits for certain same-sex couples.

Paxton and the attorneys general of Arkansas, Georgia, Louisiana and Nebraska filed a voluntary dismissal on Friday with the U.S. District Court of the Northern District of Texas, where the states had sued the Obama administration over a rule change to the federal Family and Medical Leave Act, or FMLA. That change was intended to grant time off to legally married same-sex couples, even if they lived in a state like Texas that at the time did not recognize same-sex marriage.

Future ex-wife #3, on their wedding day. Hillary was a NY Senator, so maybe she felt the need to put in an appearance. (You know it was all about politics, ‘cause Bill is looking at Donald and NOT at the bride!)

I am not excited by Hillary. I don’t like her at all. If she gets the nomination I will swallow my vomit and vote for her, but I have no feels about her great advancement for Teh Wimmens.

That’s the entire point of the anti-PP movement. They don’t care that PP provides health care to millions of women or that only a fraction of their health services involve abortion.

They want to systematically destroy this lifeline that many women rely upon for health care.

It’s because my tweet about it was retweeted by New York Times tech writer Farhad Manjoo: @fmanjoo

Looks like Rand Paul is desperate. He must be getting vibes that his candidacy needs a little kick starter so that it can wheeze for another month or so. The PP video is ideal for him to pander with and go for some dollars. It doesn’t matter if it has been doctored up…Rand is good at being less than truthful, remember all the plagiarisms he was hit for?

Amazing how much Trump has just slammed some of the lesser candidates out of any media mentions. They are going to have to start to come up with some real crazy statements and ideas to get back in the news. Paul, Santorum, Jindal, Cruz, Huckabee all gots work to do.

I have faith in them. /

Trump uses the words “Dummy!” and “Loser!” a lot, and also seems to believe that your entire worth as a human being comes from how much money you have. I suspect that he heard those words frequently at home while he was growing up.

Doesn’t Jake Tapper as CNN Anchor and Chief Washington Correspondent have better things to do with his time than publishing email rants from Sarah Palin?

Is he afraid she’ll unfriend him of fakebook if he doesn’t?

I love Simple Sarah’s “and Donald Trump is a hero in another arena.” She obviously couldn’t think of what it was.

Also, she distinguishes “sacrifices made by all ethical service members” so I guess she doesn’t heart people like Allen West et al.

Pathetic—both Tapper and Sarah.

I said earlier that I feel it’s a negative mark on Obama’s presidency. I want to clarify that it’s a small negative mark that won’t affect my overall view of him, which is that I’m close to thinking that he is one of the best presidents of my (almost) forty-four years on this rock.

That being said, it was early in his tenure, and I bet that’s one he would really like to have back.

Mideast war with cause an immediate increase in oil prices, as well as the immediately available substitute energy sources; e.g. coal. Koch Bros would profit immensely. Therefore I am not surprised.
