Gateway Pundit Says Lafayette Shooter Was “Obama Supporter” (Because He Wanted Obama to Wreck the US)

The dumbest right wing post on Lafayette, as usual, comes from Gateway Pundit
Weird • Views: 74,454
Jim Hoft poses with anti-Muslim hate group leader Pamela Geller

You just knew Jim Hoft, the fabled Stupidest Man on the Internet, would do this, didn’t you?

We predicted earlier that he’d be the first out of the gate with a claim that Lafayette shooter John Russell Houser was a “leftist:”

And right on cue, like clockwork, within minutes after my prediction, there he goes: FIGURES. Lafayette Shooter Was Obama Supporter: “I Was for His Re-Election, I Liked His Spending” - the Gateway Pundit.

Was Houser really an “Obama supporter?” Sure, because he thought Obama would wreck the country and bring about a revolution.

I accepted this it came to me that the president is doing exactly what Tim McVeigh did, only the president is much more effective. The way I see it,the faster he wrecks this nation, which in no way resembles what it’s founders envisioned, the faster working people with morals may re-assume command. ie I was for his re-election. I like his spending habits.etc

And that’s all the SMOTI needs to fire off one of his trademark context-free bursts of malicious idiocy. He’s openly lying to his readers because he knows most of them don’t care.

This is why the far-right have become a cesspool of hatred and violent tendencies, because there is absolutely no introspection whatsoever, nobody who will stand up and say “Dude, this shit is not right!” They don’t address the loonies in their ranks, they embrace them enthusiastically until they act out, then they immediately expel them and (worse) try to portray them as elements of the opposition.

It’s the sort of shit that “evil” regimes throughout history have thrived upon, the idea that there is nothing wrong with their philosophy, only in those who do not approve of it.

It’s the same kind of failure to understand context that make people try to link our very own Charles to the Oslo shooter, even though he was attacking Charles for his stance against the likes of Geller and other Islamophobes.

Context. How does it work?

Of course, these same nitwits don’t read beyond the headlines or 140 characters. tl;dr. They don’t understand what they’re reading, and they don’t care.

Is there really a big difference between angry white men with guns who murder innocent strangers and angry GOP Congressmen who want to trash the most stringent arms control treaty ever negotiated and rush into a war with Iran? The one big difference is that the angry white men in Congress would kill vastly more people.

no that’s not how it works. Shooter knows people are armed and does not go to theater.

Let the Free Market decide: If you feel safer in a theater knowing that there are armed people next to you ready to protect your life and safety by blazing away at an assailant in the dark, then go to a weapons-friendly theater and ask to be seated next to a Good Guy With a Gun.

I don’t think so.
Given all of his social media we’ve uncovered since this morning, Houser wanted anarchy.
From one of his postings (what Hoft called the “manifesto”):

For the few who will understand this, it is my hope that you will see to one preparation for the coming downfall, which will be worse than a Mad Max scenario. That preparation is not storing up canned goods, munitions, etc, but to gather what will be necessary to put in your families food to insure a painless and certain death should the need arise., if there are no cell phones,no TV,no power, gas,no stores,no police, etc.

Very like Jim Jones or David Koresh thinking.

…because it isn’t idiotic to manufacture deceptive materials about one’s opponents.

The repeating pattern of counterfeits shouldn’t be scoffed at as simply the stupid catering to the stupid. Yes, the individual examples are often shoddy creations, but the amassed effect is powerful and awful.

The tricky, scary thing about belief is that people can perform legerdemain on themselves. They want to be fooled, they want mountebanks…so the question becomes, emphatically, what do they derive from participating?

Well, they get a conflict in which the opponent is blacker than black, and thus their own vices are virtues. Any means are justified.

Louisiana theater shooter ID’ed as ex-Columbus candidate, political activist Rusty Houser

The man alleged to have shot up a movie theater in Lafayette, La., has been identified as John Russell “Rusty” Houser, a former political candidate and activist here in Columbus.

Columbus police confirm that federal authorities have contacted them about tracking Houser’s background.

Houser is the son of the late Rembert Houser, a longtime city tax commissioner.

Rusty Houser had a history here of political activism, fighting taxes and at one point running for office.

In 1994, Houser joined opponents who helped defeat a proposed bond issue for the school district. He accused the school district of punishing his wife, a public school teacher, for his role in that effort. Years later he ran as a Republican for tax commissioner, but was charged for stealing an opponent’s yard signs and withdrew.

After a subsequent sales tax passed, Houser filed papers trying to get the Muscogee Superior Court to invalidate the election. He had been admitted to practice law in Alabama after attending night law school.

Louisiana theater shooter ID’ed as ex-Columbus candidate, political activist Rusty Houser

Houser had his own problems to deal with: “He had some legal issues. He was always looking for his niche. The thing he enjoyed the most, and he would tell you, is that he would like to almost cross-examine elected officials on talk shows and in council meetings,” Peters said.

Among Houser’s legal issues was his trying in the 1980s to hire a man to set fire to the law office of John Swearingen, who was then an attorney representing the owners of pornographic theaters, which Houser detested.

The man Houser tried to hire was a police informant who turned Houser in, Swearingen recalled, adding Houser reportedly told the prospective arsonist to be sure not to kill anyone — except maybe Swearingen. “I don’t mind if he dies,” Houser was alleged to have said.

Rank dishonesty. Notice it says “stopped by civilians,” not “stopped by civilians with guns.” Why? Because the genius who did the study even had to admit that, of the 17 shootings where he claimed a civilian had stopped the “rampage,” 11 were done by unarmed civilians.

So unarmed civilians are our best bet! Let’s make more!

Targetpractice  Jul 24, 2015 • 12:18:28pm

Sorry, I forgot a link to the “analysis” that lead to that blatantly dishonest “statistic.” Get a load of this shit:

Second, within the civilian category 11 of the 17 shootings were stopped by unarmed civilians. What’s amazing about that is that whether armed or not, when a civilian plays hero it seems to save a lot of lives. The courthouse shooting in Tyler, Texas was the only incident where the heroic civilian was killed. In that incident the hero was armed with a handgun and the villain was armed with a rifle and body armor. If you compare the average of people killed in shootings stopped by armed civilians and unarmed civilians you get 1.8 and 2.6 but that’s not nearly as significant as the difference between a proactive civilian, and a cowering civilian who waits for police.

Now here’s something else to riddle about-as he was a former mental patient, normally that’s a red flag for anyone to obtain any firearm-and states usually share their admit lists with other states.

Irony abounds here-I see many RWNJ’s crying about better mental health support, yet at the same time their local governments gave ACA the middle finger so folks could get the necessary treatment which could have possibly prevented this loon for causing the chaos he brought forth.

Sounds like that’s an avenue of attack that needs to be whacked into the heads of the RWNJ who live in non-ACA states yet complain about wanting better mental health support, no?

Admitting that the Republican party has come to be dominated by batshit insane nihilists would compel the media to dump the horse race metaphor and false equivalence that has allowed it to pretty much phone in political coverage since 1992 and do its fucking job of informing the people.

And there’s the mental illness angle. Look - if he was genuinely ill, obviously that’s a problem and we’ve talked about that before. But I’m getting a little tired of white male shooters being labeled as “mentally ill” and everyone else being labeled “Muslim terrorist”.

People don’t like nuance, and really, really, don’t like nuance when it comes to constructs about how the mind works. Public discussion of mental illness is still inflected with more literary tropes than actual psychology/psychiatry. We like stable identifiable types, and those with mental illness are often subtle chimeras: the same bits, in slightly different assembly and proportion. In the study of aggression, there’s definitely a place to talk about mental illness. It’s just not as simple as causation, which is how “mental illness” is deployed by public commentators and the press. It’s more…catalytic.

We also don’t like deep introspection about the continuity of violent behavior. Terrorists are “other,” and thus their propagation and pathology is alien, sharing no features with “normal” killers. The inverse—that how a terrorist radicalizes is instructive about other forms of identity formation—is just as uncomfortable.

Pollard is not the misguided hero and devoted friend of Israel his numerous defenders claim. He is a traitor and a mercenary sleazeball who initially offered his services to South Africa and Pakistan among other unsavory regimes and used stolen classified documents to help his wife’s business interests in China.
He also brokered illegal arms deals, including some with Iran.
The Israelis must take him because they own him, but the ones who know the truth will be secretly holding their noses as they do.

Open carry a katana?
Whoa, there! That’s too far!

The only thing that can stop a bad guy with a katana is a good guy with a katana, or nunchuku.

I’ve given up being surprised at the lengths right wingers will go to deny an evil act done by their side.

And that’s the entire reason Hoft exists - he provides denial fodder. Much of it is so blatant that I really don’t think he believes it himself.

A wingnut friend once sent me a link to a Hoft post claiming Obama used an autopen to sign ‘Thanks of a grateful nation’ letters to the families of soldiers killed in action. A few minute’s inspection of the allegedly identical signatures definitively proved they were not identical, and I told my friend that, pointing to the easily identifiable differences.

A few months later, he sent me a link to another Hoft post, dinging Obama for sending form letters to the families of soldiers killed in action. The pics were all the same damn letters. Hoft simply reused the same crap to generate a new outrage.

In this case, Hoft had to have plowed through pages of Houter’s rantings to find a few sentences he could twist to claim Houter was an Obama supporter, and thus a Liberal.

I cannot really believe he read all that and still really believes Houter was a Liberal. I believe the reality is much worse, that he sat down with the cynical intent to fabricate support for Right Wing denial. I suspect he knows that what he’s posting is false, and knows his audience are a bunch of gullible rubes who will latch onto anything, no matter how flimsy.

He has to generate counter talking points because the facts of this case are not at all beneficial to their cause.

There’s always the danger that someone, somewhere might start to think the Teabag GOP is serious about public policy. So they have to pre-empt that misapprehension.

Theater Gunman John Houser Flew Nazi Flag Over Bar After City Shut it Down: Cops

The gunman who allegedly opened fire in a crowded Louisiana theater Thursday, killing two people in an attack seemingly carried out at random, once hung a Nazi flag over his bar after it was shut down by a Georgia city, police said.

John Russell Houser, 59, described by police as a “drifter” with a history of erratic behavior, turned the gun on himself after the deadly shooting at the Grand Theater 16 in Lafayette on Thursday night.

He used to own a bar in LaGrange, Georgia, that had been closed by the city after police in 2000 found that alcohol was being served to minors, LaGrange Police Chief Louis Dekmar told NBC News Friday.

“He was pretty frustrated with the police department and the judicial system generally, and his response was he had a Nazi flag attached to his building,” Dekmar said. “If it wasn’t the size of a sheet, it was pretty close.”

After racist rant? Sex tape wrestler pulled from official website

Hulk Hogan appears to be gone from WWE after all references to him were sensationally removed from their website.

As well as his profile in the alumni section, all his merchandise has been pulled from the online store - certainly making it look like his time with the company has come to an end.

When searching for Hogan’s profile online and attempting to access it that way, an error message appears which reads: “You are not authorised to access this page.”

There are reports that the sudden end to their working relationship is the result of a video or audio of the star on a “racial tirade”, although renowned professional wrestling writer Dave Meltzer described it as “a rumour going round”.

An audio clip has surfaced online in which Hogan repeatedly uses the n-word during an interview discussing his early career and the use of the word on screen, although it appears this is from around 2012 and not the incident leading to the controversy.
