California Court Bars Anti-Choice Group From Releasing New Videos

Time to fight back against the smears
US News • Views: 63,587

AP reports today that the Los Angeles Superior Court has issued a restraining order preventing the anti-choice group calling itself the “Center for Medical Progress” from releasing any videos targeting Stem Express, a California company that provides human and fetal tissue to medical researchers.

Apparently the Center for Medical Progress was planning to attack this company with a video showing three Stem Express officials taken under false pretenses at a restaurant in May. The temporary restraining order applies until a hearing scheduled for August 19.

CMP’s head fanatic, David Daleiden, issued a statement calling this TRO “meritless litigation” intended to conceal “illegal baby parts trade,” and said, “The Center for Medical Progress follows all applicable laws in the course of our investigative journalism work.”

Which may not be entirely true. For starters, California has laws against recording video without explicit permission from subjects, which the CMP clearly did not have in these cases. And they may also have broken laws against identity theft and falsifying identification.

It looks like they just released a new one anyway.

And if the (not a) “Center” “For” (not) “Medical” (anti) “Progress” website gets shut down, gotnews will be happy to host the video collection.

This TRO applies only to videos targeting Stem Express. Planned Parenthood’s lawyers need to wake up and do something similar.

Those going ballistic over the illegal baby parts trade have made me ashamed of my own ineptitude. For the life of me, I can’t find any past mention of a large and lucrative market for baby parts here in the US.

“The Center for Medical Progress follows all applicable laws in the course of our investigative journalism work.”

A TRO being issued means the plaintiffs made a showing that great or irreparable harm would have occurred if it was not issued. That means they probably violated some law in the process. But don’t bother taking a lawyer’s word for it.

29
mr.fusion  Jul 30, 2015 • 10:23:33am

Shot:

Gov. Rick Scott launched an investigation Wednesday into Planned Parenthood offices across Florida, suggesting they could be illegally selling body parts of aborted fetuses.

Chaser:

There are 16 Planned Parenthood branches in Florida, including one in Orlando, but none of the Florida offices have been a part of any of the videos.

Planned Parenthood officials in Florida say they do not do tissue donations.

“Some Planned Parenthood organizations in other states do [tissue donations], and they follow all laws and ethical guidelines,” stated Laura Goodhue, Florida Alliance of Planned Parenthood Affiliates executive director, in a release. “We will, of course, cooperate fully with any investigation, but important medical issues shouldn’t be politicized. This isn’t what people in our state want our elected officials to spend their time doing.”

But as has been proven by these videos, the truth is the farthest things on their minds.

The point here is to paint Planned Parenthood as an organization that lures women in to their Abortion-plex and then after ripping a fetus out of a pregnant woman sells the fetus (probably to make some kind of godless Frankenstein) all so they can buy Lamborghinis

This is true. I’m simply pointing out that for any party involved to get a TRO, there has to be a prima facie showing of great or irreparable harm. Which means that the CMP likely violated the law, whether that was with respect to PP or another company is somewhat irrelevant when they’re claim WE FULLEWED TEH LAW!!!!

I wish I could give you all the updings for this. Sigh. I can only imagine the amount of actually already born babies they could help if they’d use their powers for good instead of evil. If they honestly gave a damn about “the children” then not a single child would be going to bed hungry tonight. Not a one would be abused, neglected or trafficked. Every child would have a shot at a good education and a job at the end of that education that paid well enough to support a healthy family unit.

But no, we all know it too, it’s not about babies, it’s about this insanely stupid need to punish poor women for just being here. They’re pathological and PP and all it’s allies need to start fighting back yesterday. Otherwise these assholes are going to win and women will die as a result. And have more unwanted kids that these same people will continue to hate for being poor.

One measure of pro-lifers’ commitment to children is the number of children in every state waiting to be adopted. You would think they’d be snapped up immediately, but it’s obviously easier to whine incessantly about embryos.

The Ultra-Orthodox are the ones who edit women out of newspaper photos, right? Or is that someone else?

There are groups of ultra-orthodox in Israel who are against the State of Israel. They believe there can not be a Jewish country until the messiah comes. In other words, lot of different versions of orthodox. (never easy being a Jew, but here we are).

The pet trade brings huge numbers of salamanders into the United States. Fish and Wildlife Service records show that about 780,000 salamanders were imported between 2010 and 2014. Dr. Vredenburg and his colleagues found that 98 percent of the imported animals are native to Asia.

Who knew? I had a pet turtle for a short time, but never a salamander.

The Israeli security apparatus is actually loosely based on the British model.

MI-5 is roughly equivalent to the Shin Bet. Shin Bet handles internal security and other Israeli security is covered by both border patrol, IDF, and local police.

FYI, MI-6 (SIS) is roughly equivalent to Mossad (and Mossad has actually pulled off stuff that would make James Bond jealous - without all the crazy gadgets).

I just wish we could somehow weaponize Cleek’s Law. Seems like you’d only need a few of the right people on the Democratic side to denounce Nazi Germany — or even better, have Hillary ask if maybe flags with swastikas should be banned — and by the time the conventions rolled around, every GOP delegate would be wearing a swastika armband, and the Republican nominee would’ve grown a little toothbrush mustache.

Of course, I’ve always wondered why the Obamas wouldn’t go on TV and ask people not to drink bleach or throw themselves into woodchippers…

If the GOP shuts down the government over Planned Parenthood that would cause an absolute shitstorm that I don’t think they fully comprehend.

It would be along the same lines as when Congress called Terri Schiavo to testify.

The wingnuts want an absolute shitstorm.

They want massive riots in the streets. They want house to house fighting in the suburbs. They want guerrilla war in the countryside. They want the White House, the Capitol building and the Supreme Court reduced to rubble.

Why?

Because they believe that when the shitstorm is over all the ‘bad guys’ will be dead and the ‘good guys’ will be able to rebuild America the way ‘the Founders wanted.’ By which they mean the way they want.

There’s a reason I call them revolutionaries in the Marxist mould.

Like I said yesterday:

An unwanted pregnancy is a chance to shame a woman for having unapproved sex.

Forced carrying to term and delivery are punishments for having unapproved sex.

Poor people raising a child they didn’t want to have and can’t afford is a lifelong opportunity to shame and ridicule them for their irresponsibility, and if they’re not white, to attach that shame to their entire race.

It’s a gift that keeps on giving, provided you’re a horrible enough person.

I find Seth McFarland to be sporadically very funny. Thinks like doing the “I will find you, and I will kill you” bit from ‘Taken’ in Kermit’s voice? REALLY funny. The random shit that fills about half of every “Family Guy” episode? Meh, often wandering into downright annoying.

When McFarland’s on the mark, he can hit it out of the ballpark.

I have been finding myself liking this particular bit from Walter Mitty: ” Sometimes I don’t. If I like a moment, for me, personally, I don’t like to have the distraction of the camera. I just want to stay in it.” It’s basically not taking a photo and keeping the moment for yourself. Let your mind’s eye remember it.

Of course, that’s easier when not in the mood to take photos, but it still applies here. Sometimes it’s best to enjoy the moment, and not deal with the distraction.

That’s what it came down to, that I didn’t want to do the prep to haul out the camera with me that night, and so it was easy enough to pull the cell out and snap a few and then go back to enjoying it.

I find I’m doing that enough that I should look at one of the smaller, easy to carry ones. Or just a better phone camera when I upgrade.

Gabriel Sherman writes in New York that “inside Fox, the debate is generating controversy among Ailes’s senior ranks. “A Fox personality told the reporter that there is “total confusion” about the debate process, and accused Ailes and other executives of “making it up as they go along.” Another personality described it as “crazy stuff” where “you have a TV executive deciding who is in — and out — of a debate.”

According to Sherman, advisers for Gov. John Kasich and Gov. Rick Perry “have taken to lobbying Ailes and Fox executives to use polls that put their guy over the line.” A source close to the Perry campaign said that “GOP fund-raiser and Ailes friend Georgette Mosbacher recently called Ailes” on his behalf. Sherman notes that “Ailes is certainly hoping to produce the best television, which would give the unpredictable Perry the advantage.”

It’s always possible that a potentially good President might be a billionaire, but what you need to do to be a good President, and what you need to do to become a billionaire don’t overlap that much.

So, the idea of a ticket composed entirely of billionaires, based almost exclusively on their being billionaires, seems really, really misguided.
