Oath Keepers Militia Carrying Assault Rifles in the Streets of Ferguson

At the behest of conspiracy peddler Alex Jones
US News • Views: 70,377

As St. Louis County Police stage mass arrests of black protesters for suspicion of possessing weapons, tonight in Ferguson, Missouri, the extreme right wing militia Oath Keepers are stalking the streets openly carrying assault rifles.

And they were sent by conspiracy lunatic Alex Jones to protect his “reporters.”

Were you wondering how insane these people are? Wonder no more. Here’s the guy pictured above in a video he posted at YouTube. (h/t: gdf.)

Pretty sure that guy is J Duane Weed, a St Louis County chiropractor and, according to CNN, the President of the St Louis Oath Keepers chapter.

Here he is on Alex Jones’ show in August of 2013, apparently just before he harvested his beard:

Huge power outage in Twin Falls. Went off 3 hours ago, my measurements say it came back on about 2 hours after it went out. Thankfully I unplugged my PC / Home Entertainment setup / etc. God, that wouldn’t be a good day…

Right after I put a pot of navy beans on the croc pot, too. Bleh.

Twin is really pretty at night with no power. Apparently no one remembers that you’re supposed to STOP at an intersection with no power — treat it like a four way. Damned fools. Saw three ambulances out tonight, which doesn’t surprise me at all.

(Related: I’m regularly getting 95-100%s on the Idaho DMV practice written. Just gotta get down and take it and renew my tags to practice driving a bit.)

Discovered the best time to find out you’re missing your emergency flashlight is BEFORE the power outage, not right at the beginning of one. On the plus side, I got to meet the Walmart loss prevention guys again — they stopped me from leaving the store to check my receipt. Pretty sure they’re not allowed to do that (it’s not like Costco where there’s a membership involved) but I just wanted to get home by that point.

In other good news, I’ve lost 15 pounds in the month or so since leaving the Casino. I won’t say where I’m at (I’m still outrageously overweight) but downwards is progress, right?

7
KiTA  Aug 11, 2015 • 3:27:09am

I’m guessing it’s my black safari vest that’s triggering something at Walmart’s loss prevention department. I usually go in quite late at night and they’ve stopped me oh, 4 out of the past 5 times. Today there was an older gentleman at the door when I came in, I spoke with him briefly, did my rounds, paid, went to leave, and there was a different younger guy who didn’t have much in the way of customer service experience waiting for me.

Ah well, fuck’m. If I was going to steal from a store, it’d be a higher class establishment than WALMART. :P

Hoo boy, this one is the craziest yet.

Way to go STL PD! You’ve let an group of openly armed and up armored fuckwits, led by this pathologically paranoid delusional beardo patrol your streets, simply because they’re white. All while tackling and arresting black people who just look at you funny, and freaking out if you have an inkling that they might have a weapon.

Smelling smoke, I look at the weather map and see we are getting NE wind, all the way down from Anza. It’s many miles to Anza from here, but apparently that is where the smoke originates. The fire there is up to about 150 acres now, and there is a heat warning out for tomorrow in the desert.

I swear, the OafKeepers must have some kind of magical coating on their bodies that allows them to basically be invisible to law enforcement in STL, while others get snatched and grabbed under the “assumption” of having a weapon, get detained while being a 12 year old, or some other bullshit.

From Wall Street player to a broken down man, the power of addiction, cunning, baffling, and powerful.

The stockbroker — who was pals with “Wolf of Wall Street” Jordan Belfort — raked in the dough from plum jobs with Merrill Lynch and Oppenheimer & Co., living large in a Soho loft and driving around in a BMW.
But the tall, blue-eyed-and-blond regular at downtown dance clubs partied too hard — sucking down Rémy Martin-and-Cokes and snorting mountains of cocaine.
The good times turned into a downward spiral that lasted three decades — and led him to a life on the streets, sleeping on empty pizza boxes on a Greenwich Village sidewalk, his family says.

They only reason these people show up at these events, heavily armed and shielded is the hope of provoking the protesters so they have an excuse to open fire. I’m sure in Missouri it would be a defensible stance for them. I know it’s been said many times, what will it take for people to finally get the NRA out of Congress and to take back our streets? These delusional people are a minority but let’s face it with guns, body armor, and a loud voice (Fox News, etc) they get most of the attention. It’s a bullying tactic.

43
lawhawk  Aug 11, 2015 • 5:51:12am

This is white privilege on parade. Every last bit of it.

Imagine if you will if a bunch of heavily armed black men just happened to show up claiming to protect the protesters from the cops.

Do you think the cops would allow them to do so? I think not. There’d be arrests, and quite possibly shooting too. After all, blacks in STL are shot and killed without so much as being armed, let alone waltzing around with semi-auto guns and body armor.

This is the problem in a nutshell.

This is why the whole #alllivesmatter is BS. Because it’s abundantly clear that not all lives matter equally. For the police, whites matter more than blacks. Blacks are still stopped more, even though the MO AG’s office repeatedly found throughout the state that police found more contraband with whites than blacks.

Minorities are targeted.

Minority communities are levied an open tax on their existence - police fines, fees, arrests, and lost time trying to fight the deluge. It just isn’t called a tax. It’s just the cost of living while black.

And this has to end. Justice demands it.

But the Missouri legislators and governor aren’t about to put their feet down and end the inequities. Nope, they aren’t. They are allowing the STL area police to continue doing what they’ve always been doing, and last night’s non-event with the Oath Keepers is proof.

Blacks protesting peacefully results in state of emergency. Whites carrying semi-auto guns openly gets a mere shrug of the shoulder from cops.

While the police departments need to be gutted, filleted, and shuttered - especially the FPD and STL Co. PD - change must come from the politicians governing the state to enforce change on the muncipal governments that maintain the status quo. We’ve already seen that Ferguson has reverted to type in treating the community as a piggy bank after a short reprieve.

The spotlight is insufficient. This requires still more action.

Bradley, an 11-year veteran of the company, said he was shocked, and so was fellow deliveryman Alex Brooks, who has worked with Bradley for years and was sitting next to him in the delivery truck when the manager called.

“To me, it just ain’t right for a business that we work at to go on with the woman’s wishes,” Brooks told WSET.

Brooks, who is white, told the station he refused to get back in the truck and complete the delivery without his longtime partner.

“It was one of those things like, ‘These guys will get over it,’” Brooks said. “They’re tough guys, they’re delivery guys and that’s kind of where I just had to put my foot down and say I couldn’t do it with them.”

Bradley told WSET that he didn’t expect his employer to accept the customer’s demand.

“I mean, I thought that Lowe’s would take up for me,” he said.

Chris Ahearn, a Lowe’s spokeswoman, told The Washington Post that the manager involved in the incident has been fired and that the company wants its drivers to know that “we back them completely.”

Good, that manager was fired. Good on the white driver for refusing to cave to the racist customer.

Perry. He already can’t pay his bills and is telling staffers no pay except travel reimbursements. That’s a sign of circling the drain and drawing down on his meager resources.

Frankly 10 of the 17 should be calling it quits based on their polling/debate performance, but they wont. This is such a weak field that they still think they’ve got a chance. Even Pataki who can’t even rate anyone as supporting him in some of the polls.

The employer thought legal Mexicans can be treated just like illegal Mexicans:

[…]

According to the complaint, Jernigan “also threated [sic] to report Plaintiff to immigration and to kick Plaintiff out of the housing supplied by Defendants.”

Bolanos-Ramirez is not the first — and won’t be the last — immigrant to experience wage theft from employers who use the H-2 visa programs to take advantage of legal guest workers. In June, Mexican guest workers sponsored under the H-2A visa program, which is specifically reserved for agricultural work, alleged that they were housed in squalid conditions, paid less than the guaranteed wage, and threatened with deportation or arrest.

A May 2015 Economic Policy Institute report found that temporary legal guest-workers are just as likely to be subjected to low wages as undocumented workers. H-2 visa holders “are tied to [individuals’] employers, therefore they cannot change employers or jobs while working in the U.S,” Lauren Apgar, the EPI study author, said during a panel in May.

Isn’t that exactly what the African Americans in Ferguson are doing. Are they not mad as hell and not going to take the Ferguson police departments terrible policing anymore?

Should not these OathKeepers actually be there to protect the “mad as hell” Ferguson protesters???

Oh…I am finally waking up this morning. I think I see the differences. All the people in the OathKeepers video and in the streets of Ferguson are white.

Well, something similar to just that did happen in Dallas, and they call themselves the Huey P. Newton Gun Club.

I find it utterly fascinating that the Oath Keepers, a group ostensibly formed to stop the police state from occurring, is actually in Ferguson to help facilitate the police state. And that the police in St. Louis, who would in theory have issues with the Oath Keepers group, have no problems with them running around fully armed with long rifles. And it’s because, in my opinion, when it comes down to it groups like the Oath Keepers are really formed to protect the white power infrastructure from a police state. If minorities are the object of an oppressive police state like we’re seeing happening in Ferguson again then the Oath Keepers have no qualms about allowing and helping it to happen.

It’s ridiculous to see unarmed black Americans exercising their 1A rights by peacefully protesting be assaulted by the police while armed white Americans are exercising their 2A rights being given a wide berth by the police. If that is not the best example of white privilege I’m not sure what is.

WTF? The military was already bending over backward to accommodate religious preferences when I joined the Navy in 1968. I’m a Buddhist and I’d designated that as my religious preference. It’s stamped on my dogtags. Though I was a lowly Boot, the Navy offered me a car and driver along with the required pass if needed to transport me to a temple off base.

As a vet it nettles me when people who don’t know the first fucking thing about military life pontificate on that subject. Anyone with combat experience knows that prayers in combat are rather terse. They usually goes like this:
BLAM!
“Jesus Christ!”

Yeah, because the toys and other items themselves aren’t gender-specific? Barbies, toys draped in pink, or blue, etc? Clothes? Accessories?

All the cues are still there on the toys or clothes or other items themselves. That isn’t changing.

Just the store deciding it is cheaper/easier to stock stuff regardless of gender - allowing them more flexibility to display/stock than to hew to a blue or pink section or one that has signs identifying boys or girls.

We won’t mention the massive amount of foreign aide from France as well as the critical importance of their fleet blockading the British at just the right time…

Note that a few years later, when our government poked the British one too many times and provoked the war of 1812, they sent over troops that had fought Napoleon and we were quite lucky to pull off the draw that got us back to status quo antebellum.

I like to think about what motivates people to do what they do.

In regards to all of these armchair warriors like the OathKeepers I wonder if it was all the over-the-top TV and movies they watched where the hero never got a bloody nose and was able to overcome insurmountable odds by their shear awesomeness and a good script. The Sly Stallone, Bruce Willis Effect.

The Mother Jones article in my #46 mostly profiles Pvt. 1st Class Lee Pray, based at Fort Drum:

Pray himself had been eager to go to Iraq when his own unit deployed last June, but he smashed both knees falling from a crane rig and the injuries kept him stateside. In September, he was demoted from specialist to private first class—he’d been written up for bullshit infractions, he claims, after seeking help for a drinking problem. His job on base involves operating and maintaining heavy machinery; the day before we met, he and his fellow “undeployables” had attached a snowplow to a Humvee, their biggest assignment in a while. He spends idle hours at the now-quiet base researching the New World Order and conspiracies about swine flu quarantine camps—and doing his best to “wake up” other soldiers.

It’s guys like him who are gonna save America from tyranny…smh

That’s pretty much it. Snopes.com on Target gender signage.
They may not have even abolished the different sections, just the gender-specific signage.

They also have some choice messages from outraged consumers:

I always shopped at Target, but as today I will not step foot in their stores, I have Grandchildren I always bought for, and I will not be forced to turn them gay. I am so offended with what these store are doing, telling us dress your daughter like a boy, heck better yet dress your son like a girl, sounds stupid right, because it is, leave things the way they were.

Worth noting that the signage for boys and girls clothing will remain in place.

Target, this will cost you. I’m going to make sure of it. I have a plan to retaliate against you for catering to sexual deviants. I intend to seriously damage your financial security by taking customers away from you.

CNN and the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library, which is co-hosting the Sept. 16 debates, said invitations have been sent by former first lady Nancy Reagan to 16 candidates who meet their criteria. All but Gilmore “have qualified thus far and have received invitations,” they said in a statement.

This is why teachers are awesome though in another note. Mentioned it last night but I got my ten year reunion coming up and on the last day of government class, the teacher had us write letters to ourselves ten years from then. Well that day has come. I’ve moved from where I lived when I graduated HS so I had to contact the teacher who did the letters. I was honestly amazed that he remembered me after all these years. Granted I was the obnoxious political kid in the 2004 election but he’s had to have to taught over 500 kids since then and he had been teaching before then too. Appreciate your teachers folks. After my family, I really can’t think of any other adults that impacted me the way teachers have since teachers helped inspire my intellectual curiosities and those are things that have led me to learn more and to travel.

Yeah the pressing issues of our day: Food, shelter, medical care, and labels at Target. The former three are trivial by comparison to the latter. Seriously this is exactly the kind of shit that makes me disdain this vision of Christianity. Franklin Graham could be using his clout that he has gained on his own and more specifically from being the son of America’s most famous evangelist to focus on real serious issues but nope Frankie boy bitches about Muslims having rights, gays having rights, and fucking aisle labels.

I’m sure there are plenty of problems with Kasich, but he is one of the few conservative christians I know of willing to acknowledge that the government has any role to play in providing for the poor as Christ commanded. This, of course, probably renders him unelectable in the GOP presidential race.

Kasich does have a human side. He lost his folks in a car accident and shares a bond with Biden that way about losing loved ones in a tragic accident. When Beau died, Kasich talked about that. And you’re right, that does probably disqualify Kasich. If he were to start talking about that in the primaries, he’d get booed off the stage.

True. Stassen was one of those now-extinct liberal Republicans. He was a credible candidate the first few times he ran for President, up to 1952. He stayed at it right up to 2000, just a year before his death at age 93. He was a butt of jokes for his persistence but in later years he was really doing it more as a voice of conscience than a serious candidate.

Yeah he’s kind of forgotten now even though he ran for president as recently as 1992 but he was a great voice of liberal republicanism that has pretty much disappeared from the GOP. I think he probably ran against my username’s namesake once but Stassen is someone I respect.

Assembly panel hears ban on use of fetal body parts; UW-Madison predicts it will halt life-saving research

A state Assembly panel is hearing a bill this morning to ban sale or use of body tissue from aborted fetuses, including for experimentation or research — a step that UW-Madison and biotech leaders say could halt important medical research in Wisconsin.

Supporters of the bill, which include anti-abortion groups, say it would prevent fetal body tissue from being trafficked for profit by Planned Parenthood or other organizations.

But officials at the UW-Madison School of Medicine and Public Health, as well as other biotech industry leaders, say the bill could hinder cutting-edge research on fetal tissue. About 100 labs on the UW campus use cells derived from fetal tissue in studies on cancer, heart disease, Parkinson’s disease, blindness and other conditions.

“This life-saving research would come to a complete, abrupt stop in Wisconsin,” the dean of the UW-Madison medicine school, Robert Golden, testified to the panel.

I never thought about it like that either. Nixonland as I said really was an interesting read. His whole thesis in Nixonland is trying to understand how people who had voted for JFK/LBJ/even Humphrey ended up being strong Nixon supporters in ‘72. He has another book about the rise of Reagan and I think he wrote a Goldwater biography or something like that too.

re: #299 Lidane

It began, as cultural historian H. Bruce Franklin has documented, with an opportunistic shift in terminology. Downed pilots whose bodies were not recovered—which, in the dense jungle of a place like Vietnam meant most pilots—had once been classified “Killed in Action/Body Unrecovered.”

During the Nixon years, the Pentagon moved them into a newly invented “Missing in Action” column. That proved convenient, for, after years of playing down the existence of American prisoners in Vietnam, in 1969, the new president suddenly decided to play them up.

Amazing how history repeats (see GWB and Scott Speicher).

Yeah I didn’t know it went back to the Nixon years. I knew a little about Bo Gritz or whatever that guy’s name was and I think Perot may have also had a role in that. Interesting how many roads lead back to Tricky Dick. Here’s a good what if for my fellow history buffs but what if Ike had given in and chosen someone else as his running mate in ‘56? He still wins re-election I’d say but Nixon doesn’t run against JFK or whoever the Dem nominee in 1960 is and the course of the 60’s and our history is changed.

Too bad Ubisoft has ruled out ever making an Assassins Creed set in WWII or the Civil War. I get that some gamers are WWIIed out a little but I’d play a stealth WWII game in a heartbeat. That subgenre is really lacking. The only two I know of are The Saboteur and Velvet Assassin (which was a bit glitchy but a neat game since you played as a woman SOE operative and had tons of unique missions.) It was based off a real operative who sadly unlike her video game counter part did not survive WWII.

It’s utterly amazing to me how people like Loesch love to cry about big government tyranny and when the Ferguson PD actually is oppressive towards people, they’re there to cheerlead it on. Kind of like how they had no problem with Freddie Gray, Eric Garner, and Michael Brown being killed by cops when they were unarmed but were perfectly okay with Bundy and friends aiming at federal law enforcement.

That nitwit decided to stand and protect the cops (who don’t need protecting) from protesters who do (need protecting) from the cops who’ve shown reckless abandon in using excessive force..

I think Bristol is just as nasty as her mother. I don’t like attacking candidates’ children and I defended Bristol when her pregnancy was revealed even though it exposed what a double standard hypocrite her mother really is when it comes to sex. But Bristol is just a nasty hateful person whether it’s making homophobic and racist comments and insulting the President by saying that his daughters’ watching the show Glee pushed his support for SSM. It’s not even that she’s a Republican. I like George W. Bush’s daughters, they seem like nice people and Meaghan McCain despite IMO being delusional about the reality of her party is someone who does have a good heart. But Bristol’s different.

Considering they’re the ones who never cared when Rush Limbaugh likened women trying to get equality for women to Nazis for years, yes……………. I mean this is all so funny. I mean Megyn Kelly sucks but there is a rampant culture of sexism at Fox and you can see it in who they hire and how they present them.

Let’s be honest. Those kids were never going to go to college anyway.

I remember the right crying sexism when Obama used the “lipstick on a pig” metaphor when talking about Palin. The right cried that he was being sexist and I was just thinking. Gee aren’t you the people who have said nothing when Rush calls feminists, feminazis. Aren’t you the people who actually have people on your shows like Ann Coulter that insult the very idea of women participating in our government via voting? It’s sort of like how they cry racism whenever a minority conservative is criticized. Ben Carson, Ted Cruz, Marco Rubio, Bobby Jindal, and many others I am forgetting would be criticized by the left for being fanatical jackasses if they were white. Sean Hannity and Bill O’Reilly sharing Irish heritage with me doesn’t make me see them as any less of jackasses than they already are.

I always thought gun hoarders with children were unbelievably selfish because of that. And of course they’re the first people to complain about any tax increase. Maybe if you didn’t feel the need to buy several guns every time the NRA lied to you about how the next Democrat elected governor or president was going to take your guns, you could afford the bills.

And that was before the US government started spending more than the next dozen countries combined on their military.

I’m paywalled from Newsweek. I know for damn sure I haven’t hit their 5 limit view.

Me too. I am fairly sure I could defend this article, since I have carried on a running feud with the “left behind PoWs” conspira-liars for 40 years, but I don’t have anything but this graphic. Thousands of wingnuts don’t have anything else either, but it is all they need to launch a viral shitstorm at Newsweek. Note that our old fiend, John Stacey McCain has weighed in on the Newsweek Twitter feed. “Patriotism is racist hate?”
Their bogus paywall has left them defenseless.

It’s worse. Obama wasn’t even talking about Palin. He used the ‘lipstick on a pig’ metaphor regarding GOP policy. The reason the wingnuts complained was that Palin had made a joke about the difference between pitbulls and hockey moms being lipstick.

So, they invented the reference to Palin, because lord knows, nobody’d ever used the ‘lipstick on a pig’ line before, and claimed Obama had called her a pig. It was pure bullshit.

I’m planning on going to Switzerland for a little while in a couple years. I will probably forget but I’ll check out how many people actually open carry there.

They open carry..without ammo. Those girls are taking their guns to a shooting match empty. Which means they will be unable to use them to defend themselves against a rapist…
