Almost makes more sense than the real thing.
Watching a tv reality show clown totally dominate the race for President of the United States has been very entertaining. But perhaps we should take a moment to reflect on the tragedy of a once great political party tearing itself to shreds. The hate filled, racist fanatics who now dominate the GOP are the political descendants of the fanatics who tore the nation apart that the GOP was founded to oppose. The GOP is no longer a political party in the secular sense of the term. It has descended into a hate cult, and Abraham Lincoln would not be able to recognize it.

Or it, him.

Makes you wonder if Pinkerton is staffing up with goons, given the rise in anti-union fervor on the Right.

Sure, if they remember to make sandwiches.
I saw that. What in the fuck.
Wondering who will be the first #GOP candidate who suggest citizenship be based on pure bloodlines and land ownership?

A lot of them have already said only “property owners” should be able to vote. I wonder if they realize that most “property owners” are living in some bank’s property—or would Social Security recipients who have paid off their mortgages be the only ones qualified? If Fred Thompson sells them a reverse mortgage, do they lose the franchise? Inquiring minds want to know!

I just wonder if they’ll say it in German. Blut und Boden.

They got paid, didn’t they? They should have saved their money and gone to college or set up a small business with that.

Haven’t they always said that? Social Security, too.
re: #8 Kragar
You know, sexual freedom does not mean freedom from the consequences of sexual encounters, especially if they involve only casual acquaintances. This applies to both men and women.
But sexual encounters, like almost all aspects of human interaction, are too involved and nuanced to be summed up in a few catch phrases like “regret sex” or “legitimate rape” and I am sick of pundits who spout shit like that.

Yay—I own my place outright, so I get to vote…UNLESS, they insist that I prove that all of my grandparents came here legally in the late 1800s, which could stymie my chances. (And once they get that property-owning thingie taken care of, they’ll probably go the Ann Coulter route and rescind voting rights from women, so I’ll be right back in no-vote land.)
“Iran can delay inspection of a site for 24 days” is a whopper of a lie on par with death panels.

Five years seems like a short maximum possible sentence for making those threats three times, assuming he gets convicted.
I gathera lot of people have a different concept of what is meant by “birthright citizenship”. If it means that only the children born in the USA to US citizens receive citizenship, then that is a real step back to Blut und Boden.
But if we amended the law to extend citizenship by birth only to children born to legal resident aliens, I could support that, but only the condition that it was part and parcel of a comprehensive package of immigration reform.

It’s like they’re using a ‘No True Scotsman’ argument to determine who should vote: No True American would vote for Dems, so the kinds of people who would vote for Dems shouldn’t be allowed to vote.
Seriously, I think they’d be really happy with a system that mimicked the way shareholder votes work - more shares (wealth), more votes.

Willis makes a salient point. I’d say “Dammit right wingers, it’s only August…”
By the time the Iowa caucuses kick things off in February the GOP hopefuls will have to threaten both Mexico and California with nuclear annihilation.
