Stupidest Man on the Internet Cheers Donald Trump for Using the Term “Anchor Babies”

In love with sheer meanness
Politics • Views: 62,260

In today’s example of the deliberate hatefulness of the right wing, here’s the legendary Stupidest Man on the Internet, Jim Hoft, cheering Donald Trump for defiantly refusing to avoid the racist term “anchor baby.”

Once again, we see the real source of Trump’s appeal to the right wing voting base — his sheer ugly meanness: Reporter Tries to Lecture Donald Trump on Offensive Term “Anchor Baby” - BIG Mistake.

Notice that the ever-idiotic Hoft just assumes the reporter asking the question is a “lib,” because only a “lib” could possibly want to avoid using racist terms.

This is why he’s winning - in a landslide-
There are currently 350,000 to 400,000 babies born to illegal immigrants in the US each year.
Donald Trump has a problem with this.

A liberal reporter tried to lecture Donald Trump yesterday on the offensive term “anchor baby.”

Trump responded as only Donald Trump can.

Lib Reporter: Are you aware that the term “anchor baby” that’s an offensive term.

Donald Trump: You mean it’s not politically correct and yet everybody uses it? So you know what? Give me a different term, give me a different term on what you would like to say.

Lib Reporter: How about an American-born child of undocumented immigrants.

Donald Trump: So you want me to say that OK. I’ll used the word “anchor baby.” Excuse me, I’ll use the word “anchor baby.”

I don’t judge him by his appearance, but by the content and character, and Hoft is sorely lacking on both. He actively shills for white supremacists and hate mongers, and peddles smears easily and often.

And is rewarded for both by frequent mentions on Drudge.

And I am convinced he’s not as stupid as the easily debunked stories he peddles would make it appear. He knows, in a lot of cases, just how false the story he’s pushing is, but he doesn’t care if it gets his audience all outraged. He’s a bullshitter, a propagandist, who cares only that what he says is effective, not whether it’s true.

Learned something new on the internet today.
American born women who married a non-American between 1907 and 1922 lost their American citizenship and had to apply for naturalization to regain their American citizenship:

While it appears foreign-born women did not complain about any remaining link between a woman’s naturalization and her husband’s, some Naturalization Bureau officials thought any remaining connection was unfair.(14) Clear dissatisfaction was expressed by U.S.-born women who, in many cases, belatedly discovered they had lost their citizenship by marriage prior to September 1922 and now must petition for naturalization if they wished to regain it. After considering that other Americans who expatriated themselves by swearing allegiance to another nation during World War I needed only to take the oath of allegiance in court to restore their U.S. citizenship, U.S. Commissioner of Naturalization Raymond Crist suggested that Congress might create some similar provision for U.S.-born women:

Some women feel that a certain stigma attaches to the need of “naturalization” in the same manner as any lowly immigrant. Women of perhaps Mayflower ancestry, whose forbears fought through the Revolution, and whose family names bear honored and conspicuous places in our history, who are thoroughly American at heart, and who perhaps have never left these shores, but whose act in choosing alien husbands has caused forfeiture of American citizenship, bemoan the stipulation that such as they must sue for naturalization by the ordinary means.(15)

Not until 1936 did Congress comply with Crist’s request, and then only for those women who lost U.S. citizenship by marriage between 1907 and 1922 and whose marriage had terminated through death or divorce. If she met this criteria she could file an application with her local naturalization court and resume her citizenship upon taking the oath of allegiance. The application was typically made on Form N-415, Application to Take Oath of Allegiance to the United States, which should be filed in separate volumes from each court’s other naturalization records. Some courts, however, interfiled these documents with other petitions. In 1940 Congress allowed all women who lost citizenship by marriage between 1907 and 1922 to repatriate, or resume their citizenship, regardless of their marital status. Since then, any woman who lost U.S. citizenship in those years by marriage to any alien, even if they remained happily married, could resume her citizenship by applying and taking the oath of allegiance.

Police said Scott Leader, 38, told them it was OK to assault the man because he was Hispanic and homeless.

“Donald Trump was right, all these illegals need to be deported,” he allegedly told the police.

Scott Leader was convicted of a hate crime and imprisoned for one year after attacking a Moroccan man in Boston days after the Sept. 11, 2001, terror attacks, according to court records. Leader threw a cup at the man, who was working at a Dunkin’ Donuts, calling him “terrorist” and several ethnic slurs.

hmmm…my maternal grandparents were married in 1918 in NYC. Grandma was born in Pennsylvania, grandpa was born in Hungary. So, given the information in those government archives, neither of them were American citizens.
My mom, aunts and uncles were all anchor babies!!!

It’s telling that in the Elian Gonzales case, the INS raided a home to REUNITE a family, and got untold shit from the Family Values crowd that now talks of things like deporting undocumented immigrants and putting their citizen children into the Foster system.

Don’t know who insures them. But the main reason there haven’t been any incidents to date is that after you open that first beer or drink your first glass of wine, you are NOT allowed back out onto the firing line. 2nd rule is if anyone has any reason to believe an individual has been drinking prior to arriving, one word to the manager and they are not allowed out onto the line. These two rules are nonnegotiable and attempting to violate them can and will get you banned from the premises.

Won’t protect them from a suit/lethal publicity if Cheney shows up and peppers a friend.

If anyone opens a beer on an Army sport parachute club dropzone, the day is over and the helicopter flies away. That’s just because they could not survive the shitstorm if someone bounced and the word of drinking got out.

I don’t think I’m understating this by saying that in the last week the Republicans have pissed away any chance they have in winning Florida in the presidential. There is just zero chance….I’ve never heard people as worked up as they are right now over all of this.

And let’s be clear. What the Republicans are proposing is a militarized country that kicks down doors, drags people out of their beds kicking and screaming and loads them up in a paddy wagon. Or in today’s Conserva-speak, “small government.”

Remember how many of these voting Hispanic citizens are the legally born children of undocumented immigrants…this will all come back to bite the GOP in the butt.

So, OF COURSE, a couple violent assholes start acting on it. And OF COURSE there’s no backing off the eliminationist rhetoric, as the other GOP candidates pile on to make sure nobody thinks THEY are soft on immigrants.

It didn’t just go away of its own accord, it had to be fought long and hard.

And that is something we need to remind voters of in 2016: all those gains we have made in recent decades over women’s, gay and minority rights are not written in stone, and there are people out to actively turn the clock back on all of them, just like they have managed to do on workers’ rights.

The proposed charge is misdemeanor vehicular manslaughter.

The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department is set to recommend a charge of misdemeanor vehicular manslaughter against Caitlyn Jenner for the February crash that resulted in the death of a 69-year-old woman, authorities told ABC station KABC.

The Sheriff’s Department said it will present the recommendations next week to the District Attorney’s Office, which will decide whether to file charges against Jenner, who was then known as Bruce before her transition.

The 65-year-old former Olympian and reality star was involved in the Feb. 7 crash that resulted in the death of Kim Howe, after Jenner’s Escalade hit Howe’s white Lexus, causing the car to roll into oncoming traffic, where she hit a Humvee, the Sheriff’s Department at the time.

The Sheriff’s Department is recommending the charge “based upon Jenner traveling at an unsafe speed for the prevailing roadway conditions,” the office told ABC News.

Definitions of whiteness in the United States

The cultural boundaries separating White Americans from other racial or ethnic categories are contested and always changing. David R. Roediger argues that the construction of the white race in the United States was an effort to mentally distance slaveowners from slaves.[1] By the 18th century, white had become well established as a racial term.

The process of officially being defined as white by law often came about in court disputes over pursuit of citizenship. The Naturalization Act of 1790 offered naturalization only to “any alien, being a free white person”. In at least 52 cases, people denied the status of white by immigration officials sued in court for status as white people. By 1923, courts had vindicated a “common-knowledge” standard, concluding that “scientific evidence” was incoherent. Legal scholar John Tehranian argues that in reality this was a “performance-based” standard, relating to religious practices, culture, education, intermarriage and a community’s role in the United States.[2]

The 2000 U.S. census states that racial categories “generally reflect a social definition of race recognized in this country. They do not conform to any biological, anthropological or genetic criteria.”[4] It defines “white people” as “people having origins in any of the original peoples of Europe, the Middle East, or North Africa.[5] The 1990 US Census Public Use Microdata Sample lists “Caucasian” or “Aryan” ancestry responses as subgroups of “White”[6] but the 2005 PUMS codes do not.[7] In U.S. census documents, the designation white or Caucasian may overlap with the term Hispanic, which was introduced in the 1980 census as a category of ethnicity, separate and independent of race.[8] In cases where individuals do not self-identify, the U.S. census parameters for race give each national origin a racial value.

The U.S. Department of Justice Federal Bureau of Investigation also categorizes “white people” as “people having origins in any of the original peoples of Europe, the Middle East, or North Africa, through racial categories used in the UCR Program adopted from the Statistical Policy Handbook (1978) and published by the Office of Federal Statistical Policy and Standards, U.S. Department of Commerce.[9]

European Americans
Main article: White American

Various ethnic groups native to Europe were not considered white at some point in U.S. history. Among those not considered white were the Slavs, Greeks, Irish, Italians and other Mediterranean peoples.[10] This reference defines White as a part of the majority or equal under the law, and uses the word in quotations indicating that it is not intended as an official term.

OK, my grandma was born in Pennsylvania in 1889. Her parents were immigrants from Slovakia. Wondering if they were considered “white” for naturalization purposes back then. If not, then she might not have been even an anchor baby herself.
My maternal paternal (oops!) grandmother was 100% Irish and her father was most definitely an ill eagle.

your grandmother born of Slovakian parents would have been a US citizen even if her parents weren’t able to become citizens, that was the holding of Wong Kim Ark, 9 years earlier.

No glee, but she did sign up for life with this guy. Unless her father sold her off to the Duggars, which is always possible.

In any event, I can only hope it leads to some introspection and a rearrangement of the power structure in her family.

Her father sold her off to the Duggars. Sadly I doubt he’s a decent enough individual to extract her from the situation.

And she was most likely raised to be exceedingly submissive and just accept the situation quietly with no recriminations against her husband.
