Independent Analysis of Planned Parenthood “Sting” Videos Finds Deceptive Manipulation

The videos “do not present a complete or accurate record of the events they purport to depict”
US News • Views: 63,831

An independent analysis by a team of forensic experts has found the “sting” videos created by the Orwellian “Center for Medical Progress” to smear Planned Parenthood were so deceptively edited they would be useless as evidence in a court case.

Planned Parenthood commissioned independent research firm Fusion GPS to conduct a thorough review of the videos, and their conclusions were scathing:

A thorough review of these videos in consultation with qualified experts found that they do not present a complete or accurate record of the events they purport to depict.

Each release by CMP contained a short edited video, between eight and fifteen minutes in length, that intercuts clips from the undercover recordings with other content, and a “full footage” video that claims to provide the raw, unedited footage of each interview. A video forensics expert, a television producer, an independent transcription agency, and Fusion GPS staff reviewed this material. While these analysts found no evidence that CMP inserted dialogue not spoken by Planned Parenthood staff, their review did conclude that CMP edited content out of the alleged “full footage” videos, and heavily edited the short videos so as to misrepresent statements made by Planned Parenthood representatives. In addition, the CMP transcript for the “full footage” video shot at Planned Parenthood’s Gulf Coast facility in Texas differs substantially from the content of the tape.

At this point, it is impossible to characterize the extent to which CMP’s undisclosed edits and cuts distort the meaning of the encounters the videos purport to document. However, the manipulation of the videos does mean they have no evidentiary value in a legal context and cannot be relied upon for any official inquiries unless supplemented by CMP’s original material and forensic authentication that this material is supplied in unaltered form. The videos also lack credibility as journalistic products.

I watched several of the “complete” videos myself and compared them with parts of the transcripts released by CMP, and it was obvious that they deliberately left out important information, even from the “full” versions of their videos. This analysis confirms what I had already discovered, and powerfully demonstrates CMP’s unhinged, deceptive anti-choice agenda.

Planned Parenthood has been the target of yet another dishonest smear campaign, and it’s time for the media to wake up and stop legitimizing these right wing hit jobs.

And will be promptly ignored by the republicans in the House and Senate. PP just needs to sue CMP and move to have those responsible for the unlawfull filming in Ca. charged and prosecuted.

They don’t care. They got their lies posted. Those who want to think PP is a bad thing will continue because they are that kind of idiot. It’s what feeds them. Facts and truth are irrelevant. One more talking point. THIS. Get the boot of the EPA off the neck of industry and let them do their job.

There is going to be backlash. Especially if they attempt to take this into the next election. It’s a losing issue for the right.

7
EPR-radar  Aug 27, 2015 • 1:51:23pm

The CMP goons that produced these lying videos probably seen their own work as being completely honest. To them it is obvious that Planned Parenthood is engaged in every manner of evil, and the only task of an investigation is to find or create evidence in support of that thesis.

This is exactly the thought process of a witch hunt or an inquisition.

The only defense against this kind of evil nonsense is insisting that investigations etc. be based on real evidence. However, the entire right wing noise machine has promoted reality-denial for decades.

From Wiki:

World War II (1939-1945) hardly affected Kamchatka except for its role as a launch site for the invasion of the Kurils in August 1945. After the war the Soviet authorities declared Kamchatka a military zone: it remained closed to Soviet citizens until 1989 and to foreigners until 1990.

Of course, this is just a cover story—they knew Sarah would be watching.

So, what they’re postulating is a government so evil that they’d kill hundreds of Americans over a number of years, so clever that they could do it again and again without detection, and so stupid that they don’t just bump off people like Alex Whats-his-face by natural causes. The more we learn…. What a scam.

Now we know that almost none of the woman in the Ashley Madison database ever used the site. The question is, was this a deliberate fraud? Or was it just a dating site gone wrong?

Yesterday I published the results of my analysis of the Ashley Madison member database, which contained 37 million profiles of people seeking discreet affairs. What I discovered was that, at most, about 12 thousand of these profiles seemed to belong to women who were active on the site. The rest of the 5.5 million women had profiles that appeared to have been abandoned directly after they were created.

In this case, AM preyed on both the poor schmo stuck in a loveless marriage and the sleazy bastard making his marriage loveless with the promise of consequence-free sex with women who are ‘safe’ because they have just as much to lose.

And a while back a bunch of us wer’e figuring where ol’ Andy was buried so we could piss on his grave anyway.

Ohio cop tells black man he tailed him and pulled him over for ‘direct eye contact’

A black Ohio man got a police officer to admit to him on video that he followed him for nearly two miles and pulled him over for making “direct eye contact,” talk show host David Pakman reported.

“As suspicious as ‘making direct eye contact’ may be to a police officer, doing the exact opposite — that is, avoiding eye contact with a police officer — could be considered equally suspicious by an officer,” Pakman noted. “In other words, both making eye contact and not making eye contact with police could, conceivably, be grounds for a traffic stop, if you agree with the general principle suggested herein.”

There was a reason I was calling them bogus videos from the first. There was nothing legitimate about them. Consider the agitprop source.

And given that they’re now preparing to release four more of these agitprop videos, it’s a good reminder that this isn’t about truthiness or even facts.

It’s about the anti-choice extremists hoping to convince enough people to cut off funding to PP and to force action to curtail access to abortion. TRAP laws weren’t enough (even as they’re attempting to impose them elsewhere).

It’s also about ginning up funds for extremist candidates too. So there’s that.

Trump’s idea of simply taking Iraq’s oil is also a war crime.

(ii) Other serious violations of international humanitarian law committed during an international armed conflict:
• committing outrages upon personal dignity, in particular, humiliating or degrading treatment and desecration of the dead;
• enforced sterilization;
• compelling the nationals of the adverse party to take part in military operations against their own party;
• killing or wounding a combatant who has surrendered or is otherwise hors de combat;
• declaring that no quarter will be given;
• making improper use of distinctive emblems indicating protected status, resulting in death or serious personal injury;
• making improper use of the flag, the military insignia or uniform of the enemy resulting in death or serious personal injury;
• killing or wounding an adversary by resort to perfidy;
• making medical or religious personnel, medical units or medical transports the object of attack;
pillage or other taking of property contrary to international humanitarian law;

I’m with John Ralston Saul in Voltaire’s Bastards. It used to be that moneylenders were on a level with pimps. Now paying back these debts, shoveling interest into their gaping maw long after the principal has been paid off, is considered some kind of sacred obligation. Fuck that shit. In a way it comes back to the idea of “strict textualism,” which apparently means the opposite of just strictly reading the text. Apparently we’re supposed to limit the 14th Amendment Section 1 Equal Protection Clause to men only, and not extend it to women or gays, even though it says “any person.” We’re supposed to do this way of playing Ouija with the ghosts of the dead men who wrote the Amendment.

I don’t play that game, and I think recent Supreme Court rulings have rendered that argument dead on arrival. What matters is what the text literally says, not our own half assed supposition of what authorial intent might have attached. Also, the Section 4 provision was seriously brought up by many experts during the government shutdown stunt as a way for the President to continue paying US debt in the face of congressional refusal to do its job.

Yeah, I’m not buying it. Time marches on, the right to bear arms is now a personal one, gays and (in most cases) women are now considered persons due equality under the law. Our reading of the text in such cases has become more strict, not less, and less encumbered by subjective supposition, not more. Yeah, but this is bullshit. “Arms” that are “necessary” for the “security of a Free State” today might very well include ICBMs with MIRVed warheads. Anyone think the 2nd Amendment authorizes personal ownership of them? Well then, it has nothing to do with personal ownership of anything.

and it’s superficial like damn near everything else the GOP “stands” for… they’re pro-fetus, but anti neonatal healthcare. They’re pro-family yet they’re the ones cheating on their spouses, begging for forgiveness in a public stage and at the same time willing to break up families when it comes to illegal immigrants….

They say that they love the vets, but cut VA spending every chance they get…. They want small government but are damned concerned with what each woman’s vagina is up to.. They claim to love Jeebus, but aren’t willing to forgive, be tolerant and stop worshiping Mammon.

They care about babbys but don’t want to pay for their food, shelter, healthcare or education….

and people sit up and wonder about the ethics of politicians like Clinton and Biden and expect me to take their concern trolling seriously.

The GOP has become the Party of Lies and the GOP base are People of the Lie. Lies are what they do all day, every day, to an extent that would stagger us all if properly reported on.

The second says that a well regulated militia is necessary, not arms. It says that the existence of a free state is predicated on the right to bear arms. It makes no claims as to absolutes, and a strict reading can easily limit it to such arms as can be born, distinguishing then from ordinance.

Anyway, the point is that the Court has moved steadily away from caring about authorial intent, which is the only reasonable way to move forward as a society. We can argue that this causes negative impacts in certain cases, as I definitely would with the ubiquity of modern gun violence, but that’s another issue.

Folks…if you haven’t checked the images Sergey just posted in a comment downstairs you have to take a look. Just incredible color and cool plants and rocks, etc. I found them stunning.

And if you ever need a lesson in how to use color, just check out the job mom nature supplied in these scenes.

Sergey’s images post in last thread. Must see!

A couple of the pictures towards the end are of “yellow boy” run-off. Either a mine entrance, bore hole, or spill pile that is leaching out acid is near there.

I don’t give a rat’s ass what the Supreme Court says. I can read, even if they can’t. The 2nd says nothing about personal protection at all, only that “The People” (collectively) must be able to “Keep and bear arms”—the kind of arms that can protect the security of the state. That’s changed since 1787.

A well regulated militia would mean standardized weapons and ammunition across the board, so that in time of national emergency, civilians could be formed into units under the control of the military to aid in the defense of the nation.

It does not mean every fucking asshole in America can own what ever fucking artillery he wants because he’s a paranoid gunfucking psychopath.

Wondering what to wear for Halloween? Are you a jackass? If the answer is yes to both these questions, you might want to consider one retailer’s new costume: Lion Killer Dentist.

The costume, available from costumeish.com, features a bloody dentist smock and gloves, dentist tools, and a stuffed lion’s head.

The kind of arms conducive to a militia, the existence of which in turn is deemed necessary to a free state. The McDonald ruling and other recent Supreme Court cases, which deems the 2nd and individual right while preserving all NFA and explosives restrictions, is actually in line with that.

Yes, of course. It also doesn’t restrict arms to muzzle stuffers such as an “original meaning textualist” reading of the Amendment would.

Imagine the chaos of trying to supply all the different rounds that you’d have to provide to a self-armed militia today:

“Hey, can I get 100 rounds of .45-90 for my rifle, and 200 of .40 S&W for my pistol?”

“Sorry. All I have is .223, .30-30, .30-06, and 7mm Magnum for the rifle, and 9mm, .38 Special, or .45ACP for the pistol.”

Americans Are “Fired Up” About First Commercially Available Flamethrowers

Gee, what could go wrong?

Why does one need a handheld flamethrower, you ask? Here are some “ideas” from the Ion Productions’ official XM42 website:

start your bonfire from across the yard
kill the weeds between your cracks in style
clearing snow/ice
controlled burns/ground-clearing of foliage/agricultural
insect control
As Ion goes on to point out (correctly, we might add), there are “endless possibilities for entertainment and utility.”

And don’t worry all you lefties out there, in the FAQ section the answer to the question “Is there a left handed model?” is emphatically “yes.”

It may be only a matter of time before some deranged yokel decides to light up his ex-wife’s Christmas or wedding party with one of these, as just such a yokel did a few years ago with his home-brew flamethrower. He also set himself on fire in the process, a risk that would presumably be mitigated with these professionally engineered commercial models.

194
goddamnedfrank  Aug 27, 2015 • 5:48:52pm

The point is that original meaning textualism is an utter joke and we’ve been moving away from that kind of jurisprudence since at least the 1950’s. We shouldn’t try to dust it off and apply it to just one amendment out of twenty seven simply because modern application of that amendment has become deeply problematic.

re: #190 goddamnedfrank

Yes, of course. It also doesn’t restrict arms to muzzle stuffers such as an “original meaning textualist” reading of the Amendment would.

The amendment doesn’t mention muzzle-loading muskets, though. It only specifies that the people must be able to keep and bear arms for the security of the state. The type of arms necessary for that have changed. It says “the people”, not “every man”, and if it had meant “every man” it would have said that. They weren’t shy about saying it elsewhere.

I can tell you just exactly what kind of “arms” they didn’t have in mind, though, and that’s dueling pistols or naval boarding pistols. The 2nd amendment has no relevance to handguns, period.

And yet original meaning textualists do argue that the 14th Amendment EPC reference to “any person” does not apply to gays or women. That’s the way everyone understood it at the time. If the EPC was understood to mean women the 19th Amendment giving women the right to vote would not have been necessary. Again, the point is that times change and we’ve moved towards reading the text more strictly and caring about the biases and understanding of the people who wrote it less and less. It’s very unfortunate that the 2nd was written in such an cludgy, ambiguous way, and it continues to cause much death and suffering. In my opinion anybody who says its meaning is clear is trying to sell me something.

So - good news, clueless beer-gutted yahoos! You’re off-duty! You can relax now and lay that security-protecting burden down. Thanks for all your help; the Army will take it from here.
