Obama Locks Down Democrat Votes Needed for Iran Deal, Breitbart Commenters Go Cuckoo

Amid the deluge of hate speech, one comment is hidden, awaiting moderation

Check out the photo the goons at Breitbart “News” use for their post on President Obama getting the votes he needs to stop Republican from torpedoing the Iran nuclear deal.

They know exactly how to tweak the raving nutbags in their audience and get them enraged, and sure enough, they’re ranting away like swivel-eyed street corner madmen again. A selection of the bad craziness, conspiracy theories, Bible-pounding and heinous abuse of punctuation follows:

I was told as a very young child, raised in a Catholic school, that the final war would begin with the destruction of Israel …

I guess I should have been told it would begin with a black President who has a hatred of this country far worse than the hatred of the Jews by Hitler.

I’m sick of hearing about Hussein Obeyme Soetoro and his victories that are aimed at the destruction of the USA…. and especially tired of the wonder wussies of the GOP who only know how to betray their constituents while attempting to hide their criminal complicity in the Obeyme/ Soetoro Felony ID Fraud and unverified citizenship caper and the subsequent cover-up….

As I was scrolling down through these deranged comments (currently more than 2000 of them), I noticed one that was hidden, marked, “This comment is being held for moderation” with a link to show it. What in the world could have been so horrific that it needed to be hidden and approved by the Breitbart moderators, in the midst of this tidal wave of pure insanity?

Well, I clicked the link, and here’s that comment. Prepare to be more appalled than you’ve ever been by a Breitbart commenter:

Ah, I see we were traitors when we didn’t support GWB’s war, and we’re still traitors if we support Obama’s Iran deal.

We have three options. One, sign the deal, which keeps Iran’s nuclear program under strict controls for a very long time. Two, reject the deal, and go to war with Iran. Three, reject the deal, then saber rattle and beat our chests impotently while Iran enjoys the benefits of trade with the world, and builds a bomb because we deep sixed the deal. The GOP, of course, is all aboard for options two or three.

Morons, the lot of them.

Ask them what in the deal they want to be tougher?
Ask them what isn’t sanctioned now that they want to be sanctioned.
Ask them why Iran would listen to us at all when the rest of the world has signed off on this and is acting like adults.
Ask them if they think that ISIS and Iran get along.
Ask them if they think Iran would exist for more than 5 minutes if they ever used a nuke.

Paranoid, cowardly, morons, the lot of them.

The standard response is “Do you really trust Iran to keep its word?”

Leaving aside the whole inspections thing, think what this really says: You can’t trust Iran, so there is no deal you could make that would be acceptable, which means that there’s no holding out for a better deal. No level of sanctions could get a better deal, because ANY deal is unacceptable. So, if not deal is acceptable and Iran with nukes is not acceptable, that leaves…?

Anyone?

26
Targetpractice  Sep 2, 2015 • 6:20:18pm

It seems the GOP has once again fallen victim to their own “brilliance.” They figured that forcing a vote on the agreement would kill it, then they thought that forcing a vote to overturn a veto would be even sweeter because Democrats would get scared of election year consequences of being associated with the President and vote to override. And now that they’ve failed to do that, you can be sure they’ll act in that grand GOP tradition: They’ll declare that the deal made to allow a vote is null and void, the agreement is really a treaty that requires 2/3 Senate approval to ratify, and the President is violating the Constitution.

For some reason I’m still on this mailing list.

Dear Charles,

The Restoration Weekend is just over two months away and I wanted to update you on our speakers and program. As you know, this year’s Restoration Weekend is taking place November 5th - 8th at the Charleston Place Hotel in Charleston, South Carolina.

Our confirmed speakers include: Jonah Goldberg, Katie Pavlich, David Horowitz, Congressman Louie Gohmert, Andrew McCarthy, Bruce Thornton, Thomas Lifson, Gordon Chang, Robert Spencer, Bill Whittle, Pat Caddell, Edwin Black, Mark Tapson, Stephen Moore, Erick Stakelbeck, Michael Walsh, Daniel Greenfield, Heather MacDonald, Richard Baehr, Carl Goldberg, Charlie Kirk, Daniel Pipes and many more to follow!!

Of special note, we have arranged two very special off-site events during the Restoration Weekend. On Thursday evening, November 5th we will have the opening reception at the Governor Thomas Bennett House. Built in 1825, it is one of the most magnificent homes in Charleston. Then on Saturday evening, November 7th we will have our banquet dinner aboard the aircraft carrier, U.S.S. Yorktown. The Yorktown is at “Patriots Point” and includes the Congressional Medal of Honor Museum which will be open for us to visit on the ship.

We have updated our Weekend website; you can get all the information on additional speakers, program, sign up information and hotel contact information at: restorationweekend.org

Registration for the conference is $1,750 for an individual and $2,750 and we also have sponsorship opportunities available. The registration fee covers all the meals and programs. We have a conference rate at the Charleston Place Hotel for $355 a night.

I wish every one of the Freedom Center’s supporters could attend this event, but unfortunately the cost deters many people. That’s why for the third year in a row, the Freedom Center will cover the costs for a lucky supporter and a guest to attend.

This includes round-trip airfare, three nights at the Belmond Charleston Place Hotel and admission to all of the retreat’s programs, meals and activities.

YOU could be the lucky supporter! All you have to do is donate $5 right now to be entered.

If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact me. Thank you for all your support of the Freedom Center and our Restoration Weekend. We hope you can join us again this year!

Good luck!

Sincerely,

Michael Finch
COO, David Horowitz Freedom Center

What’s especially hilarious is that the wingnuts are going “If you vote for this, you’re a traitor,” ignoring the fact that due to the GOP’s own maneuvering, there is no vote to approval of the agreement. There’s going to be a vote to kill the agreement, which the President will veto, and then there will be a pointless vote to override that veto. At no point is there an explicit vote to approve the deal.

In other words: YOU’VE BEEN PLAYED, MORONS!

I’ve noticed something about conservatives when it comes to foreign policy. When dealing with a country, something “bad” will happen (usually that bad thing is they are not being a client state of the US), and then that country becomes the worst thing ever and we can never deal with them because they are lying, cheating, rat bastards.

It happened with China after WWII and the communist revolution. And that was only resolved because “only Nixon could go to China.”

It happened with Vietnam and took 30-plus years after the war ended - and John McCain saying it was ok.

It happened with Cuba. Despite 50 years of the embargo not working, they refuse to try anything else that doesn’t involve a modern day version of the roughriders.

It happened with Iran after the Islamic revolution and the hostage crisis. Anything other than destroying the current regime is unacceptable. That’s what they want, and the fact that they can’t get it because of this deal pisses them off.

It happened with Iraq, after Saddam decided to invade his neighbors not named “Iran.” Plenty of them wanted to remove him in 1991 (and maybe, with GHW Bush in charge things might have been better), and were chomping at the bit in 2001 to try again.

I just don’t get it. I fully understand that at different points in times, nations are going to be rivals, they’ll have conflicting interests and war may happen as a result. But holding a grudge over something that happened 20, 30, 50 years ago - that didn’t specifically involve you or your family (I get why the Cuban side of my family is skeptical) - that just makes no sense to me.

This is new and, I think, important: the first interview with the county attorney in Rowan County, from the (very reliable) Kentucky Trial Court Review, via FB. Shorter version: Davis is out on her own here.

Exclusive. Just conducted an interview with Cecil Watkins (pictured being sworn in to his post), the Rowan County Attorney. Watkins (to my knowledge) hasn’t given any interviews.
Watkins indicates that Kim Davis “does not represent” Rowan County and is not representative of its inclusive values.
From Day One, Watkins told David I “will not and cannot support” you in her defiance of the law. Not only that he was clear he would not represent her as the law in the case of same sex marriage is clear.
While he has no stance on same sex marriage, well-established federal law must be followed.

Watkins wanted to emphasize to several other things.
First that everyone who works at the courthouse has endured cursing as they enter the building. And it’s not just at her office. Everyone in the courthouse is scared to come to work.

Second that Liberty Counsel will leave Kim Davis high and dry when this charade is over. Watkins thinks the funds they raise off the case should go to Rowan County.

Finally and most importantly he has learned that deputy clerks would issue lawful marriage licenses. They are simply afraid to do so. And if Judge Bunning instructs them to do so … they will.
Davis has put, in the words of Watkins, her employees and everyone in the courthouse in a “terrible position.”

Watkins, in his role as the County Attorney, will be in court tomorrow for the hearing at 11:00 in Ashland. He is pictured (sitting) with his staff.

Ed. Note - The takeaways from the Watkins interview are clear. Davis is acting alone in her zealous mission. Her conduct has terrorized not just her staff but everyone that works in the courthouse. And all for a foolish mission aided by out of state charlatan lawyers trying to raise money for their “religious liberty” mission.

Just got off the phone with my Dad down in Florida, asked him what he thought of Trump. After he stopped laughing, he said that “The GOP hierarchy doesn’t know whether to shit or go blind. They created this farce, and now it’s become their worst nightmare. Now he’s got people saying things that they are going to have a hard time walking away from come the general election.” And people wonder why I love him so much. He has also decided that he doesn’t want the 2014 Town and Country van he has, wants to get something smaller like a Nissan Cube. Going to give it to me, which is fantastic, since my Impala has hit 250,000+ miles (got it with 22,000). All I have to do is make a run down to Florida to pick it up in a few weeks once he finds his new ride.

So, how was your day today?

LOLWUT:

Fox News anchor sues Hasbro over toy hamster’s shared name and likeness:

An anchor for Fox News is suing Hasbro for more than $5m over a toy hamster that shares her name and possibly even her resemblance.

Harris Faulkner sued Hasbro this week over its plastic Harris Faulkner hamster, sold as part of the Pawtucket, Rhode Island-based company’s popular Littlest Pet Shop line. She says the toy wrongfully appropriates her name and persona, harms her professional credibility as a journalist and is an insult.

“Hasbro’s portrayal of Faulkner as a rodent is demeaning and insulting,” says the lawsuit, which was filed Monday in US district court in New Jersey.

Julie Duffy, a Hasbro spokeswoman, said the company doesn’t comment on litigation, but she took issue with the lawsuit’s contention that the doll is a “known choking hazard that risks harming small children”.

The wife of the Washington Redskins general manager publicly apologized to ESPN’s Dianna Russini on Wednesday evening, for posting vulgar tweets directed at Russini.

In a statement, Jessica McCloughan, wife of Redskins GM Scot McCloughan, said: “I deeply apologize for the disparaging remarks about an ESPN reporter on my personal Twitter account. The comment was unfounded and inappropriate, and I have the utmost respect for both the reporter and ESPN. I regret that my actions have brought undeserved negative attention to the Redskins organization and its leadership. My comments in no way reflect the opinions or attitudes of the organization and I regret that my behavior has in any way negatively impacted the team and its loyal fan base.”

The apology came after Jessica McCloughan, on Sunday, posted tweets directed at Russini, who broke the story of Kirk Cousins replacing Robert Griffin III as the Redskins’ starting quarterback.

Jessica McCloughan’s Twitter account was taken down Wednesday afternoon.

ESPN issued the following statement Wednesday evening: “Dianna is an excellent reporter who should never have to be subjected to such vulgar comments. We are obviously extremely disappointed by today’s developments.”

I was in and out watching Rachel Madddow tonight, but I think she said there is going to be some kind of meeting tomorrow or Friday with Reince Priebus and The Donald TRUMP. Then I believe she said there will then be a TRUMP Press Circus Conference where he will have a big announcement. She mentioned the big talk in the politics world is it is a meeting to get Trump to commit to being a Republican and swear he won’t go rogue. The talk then says Trump would then announce he is going independent. This was said to be good for the party.

Can anyone tell me if I heard all the right?

That’s fairly close. It’s all speculation as to what Trump is going to do. Maddow pointed out that that it kind of doesn’t make sense for Trump to agree to the pledge, as he’s holding all the cards right now.

I think it’s fucking hysterical to see Reince Preibus, a supposed leader in the GOP, groveling before Trump right now. Of course, Reince could be going into the meeting with some sort of blackmail plan, but that would imply intelligence and competence on the GOP’s part.

For some reason I’m still on this mailing list.

Hasn’t Charleston been through enough for one year?

$355 a night for the hotel? Apparently, they don’t want any “true Amurkin patriots” to attend.

It really only makes sense for Trump agree to the pledge if he can be certain to hold his lead throughout the primary season. Assuming of course that he really does want to be President. On the other hand everything so far points to him feeding his ego instead of trying to create a pragmatic path towards winning a general election. Maybe he’s too myopic and belligerent to care about the general at this point and just figure since he’s winged it so far he can wing it when he gets there. Who knows.

The thing is though that even if he signs the pledge he’s done an amazing level of irreparable damage to the entire GOP slate, and if he remains popular with the base but for whatever reason doesn’t get enough delegates to win there may well be an open revolt on the Convention floor, with or without him actively stoking the fire.
