It’s interesting how my perceptions of 9/11 change as time goes by. I rewatched the ABC as it happened footage on Youtube as I ate breakfast this morning and I couldn’t help wonder how differently 9/11 would have played out had it happened in 2015.

Back in 2001 there was no Facebook, no Twitter, no Youtube, no iPads, no Smartphones, no HD video and so on. I mean can you imagine the Tweets and Vines from people in the buildings or on the planes if the technology had existed?

On the one hand it doesn’t seem like it was so long ago but then I think about how I had to locate and burn 9/11 footage to a CD-ROM for a college project (I was a week into my classes as a fresh faced 20 year old when the attack happened).

The death toll there continues climbing.

The Saudi government has been on a huge construction binge to increase capacity at Mecca and Medina for the hajj. They’ve completely remade both cities central landmarks - destroying so much history along the way all to try and increase capacity for pilgrims.

With hajj to begin later this month, this will be casting a pall on events there and renewed scrutiny on what the government has been doing.

Because the NRA is choosing to remember a gun that was “saved.” Really the NRA makes the idea that they care more about guns than humanity easy with that. I mean if they wanted to honor a 9/11 victim or hero who was a NRA member, that would be fine but remembering a gun that was “saved” just reeks of distasteful to me.

As I got at downstairs, Obama and Clinton actually knew Stevens and had to tell their families about what happened. The four to Jeb and the other Republicans? Not a single gun was fired on 9/11/2001 in relation to the attacks. Not on the aircraft and not in NYC, DC, or Shanksville.

The law enforcement officers responding to the WTC didn’t need their weapons - they were there trying to rescue as many people as possible, along with the massive FDNY response.

343 firefighters died at the WTC. 71 law enforcement officers died, from multiple agencies including the NYPD and PAPD.

Many of those killed were among the elite of their respective departments - hazmat, rescue, ESU, etc. Their sidearms were no help that day.

Yet the NRA chose to memorialize a gun that was recovered from the WTC.

I know who I want to remember for their sacrifice - in running towards danger and uncertainty - not a piece of equipment.

What differentiates a gun like what Dana and the NRA memorializes and say a helmet of a FDNY who was killed? The helmet is personal to the firefighter. It has their badge number, their personal details (some include photos inside, etc.) The gun is a tool, while a helmet might have been the only thing that a grieving family might ever have gotten back of their loved one.

After all, 40% of the victims have not been positively identified through DNA or other means even as the coroner issued their death certificates.

Here’s our handy guide to 9/11 conspiracy theories — and how we know they’re b*llshit

And here is the 3rd highest updinged post at the RS post:

Jay Tee • 2 hours ago
I have studied this for years. Anyone who says they believe the official story has not read the official version. The physics don’t work. NIST could never recreate, even with a computer simulation, anything which even resembled their actual findings. It also misrepresented the twin towers as being hollow, with the load bearing columns being the outside columns. The 47 massive interior core columns, which *were* the weight bearing columns - well, NIST simply pretended they didn’t exist.

I will not go on and on, nor will I debate here.

I have done the work and put in the time - hundreds, probably more - of hours. You want to call me a nut - to hell with you.

I would be utterly ashamed and embarrassed to admit that I still, in 2015, believe the incredible, monstrous bullshit callously thrown to the U.S. public.

As was said about the JFK lone assassin theory, “the story does not wear well”.

This is what the NRA is commemorating on 9/11==>

This is beyond evil.

I have been to the WTC Memorial, as I’m sure many of you have. It was one of the more somber, moving experiences of my life. The things there are very, very personal. A pair of glasses, a wallet, a passport. Helmets of firefighters, police badges, pictures of every single person killed. A child’s teddy bear. Destroyed fire trucks and support beams. If you’re at all spiritual, it is a sacred space filled with objects that have deep, deep meaning to the people that carried them.

There are no guns there.

I understand this officer’s family donated this revolver to the NRA for the museum to honor him. That gun being there is not what is profane. The sick thing is the gun being honored, not the man that carried it.

I didn’t think the NRA could disturb me more than they already do, but this one crosses the line from crazy to evil.

Here’s our handy guide to 9/11 conspiracy theories — and how we know they’re b*llshit

And here is the 3rd highest updinged post at the RS post:

Speechless.

New Oliver Stone 9/11 Film Introduces ‘Single Plane’ Theory

NEW YORK—Academy Award-winning director Oliver Stone said Monday that his new film World Trade Center unveils “compelling and controversial” new evidence that a single plane was responsible for all four collisions in New York, Washington, D.C., and Pennsylvania on Sept. 11, 2001.

Viewers of the advance screening agreed that the most striking and pivotal scene was Cage’s character’s discovery of security-camera footage that affirmed the single-plane theory. Showing his skeptical but supportive wife the footage frame by frame, Cage notices that the so-called “first” plane, which, according to official, whitewashed reports, detonated upon impact with the North Tower in the initial collision, actually banks “back and to the left, circling for about 17 minutes, and then diving into the other tower.” He repeats the phrase over and over in increasing intensity, toggling back and forth between individual frames while the music swells and the emotional drama rises to a fever pitch.

The sad thing is he wouldn’t need to say we at war with all Muslims. All an ass like Grassley needs to say is Jihadists and the idiot RWNJs that listen to him will fill in the blanks and in their heads it will be “all Muslims.”

That is what is so sad about some humans. It doesn’t take much to trigger the hate.

Trumps running a whole presidential campaign on it. And it is working. Blow the whistle and the haters gather up and follow. They just “got to hate!”

From Raw Story, 2006:

Former Ambassador to Croatia Peter Galbraith is claiming President George W. Bush was unaware that there were two major sects of Islam just two months before the President ordered troops to invade Iraq, RAW STORY has learned.

In his new book, The End of Iraq: How American Incompetence Created A War Without End, Galbraith, the son of the late economist John Kenneth Galbraith, claims that American leadership knew very little about the nature of Iraqi society and the problems it would face after the overthrow of Saddam Hussein.

A year after his “Axis of Evil” speech before the U.S. Congress, President Bush met with three Iraqi Americans, one of whom became postwar Iraq’s first representative to the United States. The three described what they thought would be the political situation after the fall of Saddam Hussein. During their conversation with the President, Galbraith claims, it became apparent to them that Bush was unfamiliar with the distinction between Sunnis and Shiites.

Galbraith reports that the three of them spent some time explaining to Bush that there are two different sects in Islam—to which the President allegedly responded, “I thought the Iraqis were Muslims!”

That one always made me laugh considering Bush is a recovering alcoholic. I also don’t get why people want a leader “who is just like them.” I want someone that can understand the average American’s struggles but I also want someone intelligent enough to understand the big picture.

Exactly. Not an isolated incident. And then here we are with a political party screaming about yet another war, that will not be called a war, but a police action or intervention or hell, just bomb them, they deserve it. Fuck them all. Civilians? Fuck them too. If we did any military action on Iran at this time, it would only drive the people deep into the arms of the fanatics.

1. it’s an oral conversation;
2. it’s a conversation between people speaking different languages;
3. it’s a recounting of the same conversation from memory.

Now, I have no pro-Bush bias, as I said, I’d like to see him as a defendant before the Hague tribunal. I’m trying to think a bit as a skeptical historian would here.

Very good point. I’d add that, for many people in that part of the world, history is a living thing that informs their daily lives. I’m talking history that stretches back hundreds of years.

They used to say the “troubles” in Ireland were caused by “too much history.” The Middle East has way “too much history.” They have washed back and forth across each other since the dawn of history itself. And then Europe and America came calling.

from about us page:

This web site and apostolate is lovingly dedicated to the Great Mother of God, Our Lady of La Salette, and to the honor of St. Vincent Strambi and Blessed Anna-Maria Taigi.
The primary mission and purpose of Novus Ordo Watch is to educate. We wish to compare and contrast the Catholic Church and the Catholic Faith with the new religion (“Novus Ordo” — see below) instituted after the supposed election of Cardinal Angelo Roncalli as “Pope” John XXIII in 1958 and his disastrous Second Vatican Council (aka “Vatican II” - 1962-65). We are confident that our web site provides sufficient documentation, esp. at our continually-updated Novus Ordo Wire blog, to prove that since the death of the last known Pope, Pius XII (1939-58), the apparent Catholic establishment in the Vatican has been run by anti-Catholic infiltrators who have done everything in their power to destroy the Catholic Faith and cause scandal and impiety among the faithful, all under the guise of a “Great Renewal” of the Faith and ad nauseam references to a supposed “New Springtime” of Catholicism. The truth, however, is quite the opposite. This web site is dedicated to pointing out that truth.

HAHAHAHA. I guess his whole plan to go straight didn’t work out. Must not have been as easy as he thought to simply choose a sexuality.

I’M SOOO BORED OF BEING GAY

I’ll never forget the precise moment I chose to be gay. It was the endpoint in a process of rebellion against my white middle-class parents that climaxed with me smuggling a black drug dealer into my bedroom at 3 a.m. on a school night aged 15.

Today, thanks to society’s endless mollycoddling and celebration of “alternative” lifestyles, the joy of rebellion is drying up for me. You see, I only plumped for homosexuality to irritate my parents. But now even they are fine with it. A few years ago, my mum said, perhaps cannily, “All I want is for you to be happy.”

That came as devastating news. Because my sexuality was never about maternal acceptance, but rather the mischievous and incorrigible pursuit of social censure and the threat of being cut out of the will. Now my gayness was not only roundly applauded by wider society but even my own parents, what was the point?

Since gay people have been so endlessly praised, flattered and catered to by the media and politicians, I’ve lost interest in sleeping with men. I want to feel oppressed again! That’s why, from today, I’m going to make a go of being straight. Wish me luck!

As a matter of fact, it’s not unusual for racists to be sexually attracted to the races they hate. Very common, in fact.

Just like it’s the homophobes who tend to get wood at the sight of gay porno.

Only the homophobic men showed an increase in penile erection to male homosexual stimuli. The groups did not differ in aggression. Homophobia is apparently associated with homosexual arousal that the homophobic individual is either unaware of or denies.

OT

I’m a little but shaken today.

Yesterday a coworker of mine passed out while walking across a concrete floor and created a massive gash where his head made contact with said floor. He then proseded to go into seizure immediately after.

I and another man who is my supervisor were the ones that found him, after we noticed two other people just staring at him as he was flopping around of the floor like a fish. Neither decided it would be a good idea to call 911 or at least try to help in the situation, just gawk at a helpless man with a serious injury who was unconscious.

As I held his hand and helped a first responder put an oxygen mask on his face because his blood pressure was cratering for twenty minutes waiting for EMT’s to arrive, I noticed as a I looked up from time to time to see the ever growing crowd I could see smirks on several faces as I panned across my field of vision.

He’s a drunk you see, and they thought that this was just funny and what he deserves for being an alcoholic and an idiot. Absolutely no compassion and empathy for another human being that prostrate on the floor, regardless of whatever personal problems he might have been suffering through.

Because of this I have been very upset and depressed all day. Quite angry too. Wondering if humanity really deserves saving.

It has a name. It’s the psychological defence called reaction formation.

Basically, it turns a subconscious anxiety-inducing impulse, thought, feeling etc. into its exact opposite, and exggeratedly so. Love turns to hate, compassion turns to hate, sexual attraction turns to hate. And pathological such.

I could go on for ages about psychological defences.

You have every right to be upset. I know I was raised old-skool, but I wouldn’t go past someone who is need of assistance like that. Not even if it is a homeless drunk which smelleth of the tinkle. At the bare minimum, I would call 112, if not do what I can.

Speaking of which, a while back, I helped this girl who fell down with seizures (grand mal), thankfully I had better luck than you, happened to have two nurses walk by. Girl came to as I was speaking with 112, I handed her the phone and she talked to 112, trying talk them out of sending an ambulance.
Then she got another seizure, I picked up the phone and told the operator “Gone into grand mal again, I would suggest you go prio 1 on this, sorry if my responses are delayed, putting her in recovery position and checking airways.” Their response was “Stay with her, we are sending an ambulance right now”.

A couple of minutes later, ambulance came by and after some coaxing took her to hospital. The nurses and me waited in case they would leave her so we could at least walk her home.

The discussion we had was quite interesting apart from me having to explain to them repeatedly that I wasn’t a colleague, but that (my now late) ex had seizures, and had seen grand mals first hand enough times not to loose my cool and how to handle things until help arrives.

They had noted that over the past decades, people just stopping to stare instead of providing help had become much more common, and the only thing they could say had happened over the same period of time was that society had moved to “more freedom of choice” and “everyone looks out for themselves” in terms of policy, and that we might be seeing a psychological consequence of the policies.

I can’t but concur with their gut feeling.

Or maybe it’s just me, raised old-skool, that we have obligations to society as well as ourselves.

They say OMG SEGREATIONISTS WERE DEMS but ignore that Mr. Dixiecrat Presidential nominee, Strom Thurmond became a Republican as early as 1964. I think the Republicans who supported Civil Rights deserve accolades but the party itself nope, you don’t get to claim the Civil Rights mantle when you nominated one of your party’s few opponents of the CRA-1964 for president that year. It is interesting to note that Jackie Robinson went from being a Nixon supporter in 1960(He felt and I have to say despite being a Kennedy fan felt with good cause that Nixon had the better record and desire on Civil Rights) to supporting Humphrey 8 years later. Jackie was no radical. He was staunchly anti-communist and one of his favorite people in politics was Nelson Rockefeller.

Every time the topic of gay rights came up on the Bowsite, there’s always be a couple guys absolutely obsessed with the mechanics of gay sex. Not only is this obsession suggestive, but moreover, I wondered in what universe does YOUR disgust with the sexual practices of other consenting adults give you the authority to deny them the same rights as you? I’m certain there are heterosexual couples who practice all the same kinda stuff. Do you get to deny them their rights as well? Or is that ‘none of your business’, as if what the gay couple does IS your business?

They started going to the Democrats under FDR. Hell some say even earlier since Hoover as Commerce Secretary really bungled up the relief during the great flood of 1928. Their condemnations of blacks who vote Democratic are usually done in the idea that they have that blacks are somehow too stupid to know that the GOP actually has their best interests at heart and don’t get me started on the “Democratic Plantation” bullshit. Blacks started voting Democratic because the Democratic Party actually took their interests seriously. The GOP like the idiots on Twitter now just was going “Well we’re the party of Lincoln, you should vote for us” but at the same time, they were moving away from being the party of Lincoln. Honestly the last Republican presidential candidate with any real credibility on Civil Rights was Thomas Dewey. Now Ike did send the 101st to Little Rock and he deserves props for that but he wasn’ta gungho supporter of Civil Rights.

i hear people who talk like this excusing themselves from racism since they believe that a black person is capable of overcoming this widespread venality that they believe infects the overwhelming majority of black folks

in other words, they dont know that it is possible to be horribly racist in an ignorantly prejudiced way without actually being a nazi-ass, biological, racial-inferiority racist

They like to claim they’re not “racist” because they “think” everyone should be treated equal but they show their true colors when they say that blacks vote Democratic because of government programs even though some of the biggest recipients of government programs are whites in some of the most Republican areas of the country. Now I don’t knock someone for getting that aid. You may be a disabled vet, have a terrible disease, etc but I do get tired of the right wing racist hypocrisy on the issue that Democrats are all “takers” and Republicans are all industrious people who would never dare take a penny of government aid money.

Meh. What really gets them is how few care about their little heresy.

As they say, the ones you never notice are the ones you have to watch. Serena is not through with her career by any means, she still had a great year. Congrats to Vinci, Leonardo’s progeny? :-)

Yes indeedy, Serena had a fantastic year, and that Vinci broke her code has to hurt.

I’m imagining Leonardo growing up in a town where everybody thought they were winners before football was nvented. What were they winning at? Bocce? Tarot Texas Hold ‘em?
