Remember the whole “Iran will self inspect” craziness

Well…

Exclusive: Iran to take Parchin military site samples with IAEA present - diplomats

United Nations inspectors will be present with Iranian technicians as they take samples from a key military site, two Western diplomats said, undercutting an objection by U.S. Republicans to the nuclear deal between Iran and world powers.

The diplomats were familiar with details of a confidential arrangement between Iran and the U.N. nuclear watchdog for inspections at the Parchin site, where some countries suspect nuclear weapons-related tests may have taken place.

I wonder how Christians know they’re not the ones being deceived. I mean, it’s the DECEIVER man, right there in the name, deception is his fucking kit and kaboodle. It would be just like that guy to make people think they’ve got all their shit squared away and then *BAM* you’ve been DECEIVED!

This is why I argue that agnosticism is a superior religious identity, because whatever happens you’re all loosey-goosey and ready to roll with it.

Coming to a boil, and I’m wondering when Trump will exploit this:

Hungary PM slams migrant ‘rebellion’, U.N. warns of millions more refugees

Hungary’s prime minister angrily accused illegal migrants on Friday of “rebelling” against the rule of law in his country as security forces across Europe struggled to control record flows of hungry, scared refugees.

[…]

Citing security concerns, Austria partially shut a highway linking Vienna and Hungary on Friday. Some 8,000 people had crossed the border on Thursday and a further 4,500 arrived overnight, Austrian police said. The rail link to Hungary also remains shut due to “massive overburdening” by the migrants.

Hungary is racing to construct a fence along its border with Serbia by early October to help stem the tide. It also plans to implement much tougher immigration rules from next week.

Prime Minister Viktor Orban, a fiery populist who has framed the crisis as a battle to preserve Europe’s prosperity and “Christian identity”, angrily criticized the behavior of the mostly Muslim migrants who have been filling up central Budapest and disrupting traffic along roads running westward to Austria.

“They seized railway stations, rejected giving fingerprints, failed to cooperate and are unwilling to go to places where they would get food, water, accommodation and medical care … They rebelled against Hungarian legal order,” Orban told reporters.

“From the 15th, Hungarian authorities will not forgive illegal border crossings,” he said.

More than 170,000 migrants have crossed into Hungary from non-EU Serbia so far this year. Many try to avoid being registered in Hungary for fear of being stranded there or returned to the country later in their journey across Europe.

I didn’t foresee Trump coming along as a “Third Way” (pardon the expression) candidate. We could see a three-way fragmentation this time: 1) Those who like corporate shills like Bush and Walker; 2) Those who want a Bible-thumping nutcase like Cruz or Carson; and 3) Those who want a strongman, racist, chickenhawk , bomb-‘em-all YEE-HAW!! maroon like Trump.

Couldn’t happen to a more deserving party.

Same here. My dad gave me his Amiga 1000 when he upgraded to a 2000. At the time, I was using Apple IIe’s and PCs at school, and a PC at home. The A1000 quickly replaced the PC as my workhorse — WordPerfect, baby! They were good computers, but Commodore was such a failure of a company, the Amiga was doomed from the start.

Calgary Transit driver who refused to drive rainbow bus allegedly relieved of duties

Speaking through his church, bus driver Jesse Rau says he has been fired from his position with Calgary Transit two weeks after expressing his unwillingness to operate the ‘Ride with Pride’ rainbow bus due to his Christian beliefs.
On August 27, the day of the Pride Bus unveiling, Rau told CTV Calgary that he feared for the future of his promising career over his refusal to drive a bus that ‘clearly promoted the homosexual movement’.

My parents bought me an Amiga 500 in 87. I wrote a program in Amiga Basic to multiply two numbers of any length by performing human multiplication. Then I would just let it run, squaring numbers over and over.

And then, because I didn’t know there was such a things as computer science or software engineering, I went off and attempted to become a physics major. The perils of growing up in a place not connected to the rest of the world.

Which makes me wonder since my local eye care provider uses Zeiss for eyeglasses should I bite the bullet and have them make my next set of eyegleasses or just use the massive Luxottica operation.

I miss maestro Fellini as well. His best work imho was photographed by the late and truly great Tonino Delli Colli, who also performed wonders with Sergio Leone. Magicians they were, and it was mostly in camera! I don’t believe Fellini or Leone ever had a matte shot. Not that it would be a bad thing, I love mattes, particularly the painted glass matte shots perfected by old Hollywood.

Has anyone here tried out the mirrorless cameras, like the Sony A-series? I was toying with buying one last year, but ended up sticking with Nikon so I can still use the Tamron zoom lens I bought in 2011.

But when I was in Target last month, I checked out a Sony A500 (I think that was the model no.) and was impressed by its compact size and minimal weight. I love my Nikon D3300, but sometimes I wish it wasn’t so big (and obvious).

Compact and sharp has its place. No shutter noise, far less intimidation or attention on the street. Lot to be said for those. I had joked with friends years ago one day a camera the size of a pack of cigarettes would just snap onto the back of our old school SLR / DSLR lenses and outperform them. looks like this is IT.

Of course I have my place. It’s walking 5ft behind my wife.

If I buy another camera, it might be a mirrorless wed into some kind of micro-viewcamera rig w/ swings and tilts. got to rethink photography completely before going digital, though.

Nikon’s entry into the mirrorless field is rather disappointing so far: 14.2 Mpx, while Sony’s is above 20. Sony also includes more bells and whistles, like WiFi builtin and an app to send a photo directly to your smartphone. Neither, of course, allows me to use my existing collection of F-mount lenses, so I’d end up investing in yet more glass.

I really like the idea behind the Sony Alpha series but there are a few issues I can’t get over. First, shutter lag. Because the shutter has to close, open and close again none of the mirrorless systems have the immediacy of response that a quality DSLR will attain. Second, because the sensor, display and most of the imaging circuitry are all continually powered on while you’re composing, the number of shots per fully charged battery is massively reduced. Also the lens availability isn’t really there yet, but that will sort out over time. The other issues are intrinsic to the platform.

Basically they’re just as good for many uses such as landscape, editorial and portraiture, and they excel for casual photography, but the limitations become a noticeable hindrance for sports action and nature.

I haven’t explored all those issues yet. DSLR cameras are a mature technology now, since the lenses and bodies were basically adapted from film models. The mirrorless systems are the new kids on the block, and there are kinks to be worked out still.

One professional photog, whose name eludes me now, was so impressed by the higher-end Sony alphas that he ditched his Nikon gear entirely for field work. But I can’t afford the high end alphas, and the A5000 still has lower res than my D3300.

Sony is absolutely dominating the shit out of the mirrorless market right now. They supplied the sensor that Nikon put in my 36MP d810, and it’s so good that DxOmark give it a far higher image quality score than the new 50MP Canon 5DS.

I have a Nikon FE2 I bought for a photography class in college - 12 years ago now!! :O. I grew up with Nikon F-series cameras and lenses in the house and I think I’ll always own one. I haven’t shot with it since school but I can’t NOT have one. It’s in the drawer along with two rolls of black and white film which may still be good, but I don’t know where I’d get them processed.

A fun moment for me was visiting Carlsbad Caverns two years ago, walking out onto the first section of trail in absolute awe with my little Panasonic digital in hand, and up ahead I hear the distinctive PING-Scritch! of a Nikon F being worked… An older man and his wife in front of me were doing it the old-fashioned way. WATCH: Screaming Muslim man tells mum she ‘should be in prison’ for resting feet on chair

Ruby Butler had her feet up on the train chair when the outraged man threatened her.

He even told her she “should be in prison”.

The horrified 27-year-old started to film the furious man after he told her she should be killed.

[…]

“He told me that I deserve to be killed and then as soon as I heard that I started recording.”

The mum-of-two posted the video on her Facebook page.

It has been viewed over 500,000 times.

The man is shown standing over Ms Butler before he says: “I cannot sit there and I cannot pray with my clothes okay? And I travel every day.”

He eventually says to her: “You should be in prison.”

Ms Butler can be heard saying: “This is all because I have my feet on the seat.

“Please get the police. If they can arrest me for putting my feet on the chair then I will gladly be arrested.

“But I don’t have the same religion as you, Sir. I pray with my shoes on.

“Every day I with my shoes on. I am Christian.”

The man shouted: “I am a Muslim and I cannot.”

She replied: “This is not a Muslim country.”

So, there’s the punchline, at the end.

Donald Trump disagrees, no doubt:

Record number of migrants cross Mediterranean, agency says

More than 430,000 refugees and migrants have crossed the Mediterranean to Europe so far in 2015, a record number that is more than double the total for the whole of last year, the International Organization for Migration said on Friday.

The United Nations refugee agency called for decent mass reception centres to be set up immediately in Greece, Italy and Hungary, on the front lines of a huge influx of refugees being received in “appalling conditions”.

The U.N. High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) welcomed a European Union proposal to share out 160,000 refugees and an offer by Washington to take 10,000 Syrians over the next year, but said “the United States could and should do much more”.

[…]

About half of those crossing the Mediterranean are Syrians fleeing civil war, a figure “expected to continue rising rapidly over the coming weeks and months”, the UNHCR said.

Afghans, Eritreans, Nigerians and Somalis compose the other four largest groups of nationalities in the human tide seeking European shores, Spindler said.

They will not be deterred by barbed wire or even taking dangerous sea voyages. The answer is to provide adequate legal avenues for people to come to Europe in safety,” Spindler said.

Local Dover politicians, still lying:

Dover intelligent design 10 years later: Defendant says ‘nobody did anything for religious reasons’

For Jim Cashman, what’s still “tragic” about the lawsuit filed against the Dover Area School District over its policy mentioning intelligent design is how the ACLU made the case about religion.

“This was a freedom in education situation,” said Cashman, a former school board member who supported the idea but did not vote for the policy, as he was appointed to fill a vacancy on the board in March 2005. “It was surprising to me; I never saw it as a religious issue.”

[…]

The case thrust Dover into an international spotlight.

Nowadays, Cashman, a businessman from Dover Township, said the case rarely comes up anymore. Looking back, he said it was the board’s intention to allow students to debate different ideas — not to force a particular religion on them.

The concept of the separation of church and state, he said, was introduced by the Founding Fathers to prevent a state-run religion from being forced on people, but attorneys seemingly want to change that interpretation. The board was not trying to replace evolution, but wanted to introduce another idea, he said.

[…]

Yeah, right.

These people never change.

It looks like it’s going to be pro-Trump vs. anti-Trump civil war in the wingnuttia-lands of America.

Townhall runs an article attacking…. Bobby Jindal, by a Trump supporter no less:

Bobby Jindal The Desperate Bomb Thrower

Only one comment so far, from an anti-Trump and ODS-suffering true conservative.

I for one hope Trump can keep stirring things up. While in the end I think his xenophobia is bad for America, that he has the wingnuts fighting among themselves is brilliant.

Trump has, I believe, demolished the fairy tale of a post-racial America. There were other ways that could have been done, but done it is.

As most of you know I’m a poet and although it’s technically 9/12 now I just put the finishing touches on this one and although it is kind of raw, I wanted to share:

88th floor

I didn’t see a damned thing, I just heard the bang.
Then the black cloud came.
Rushing to the nearest phone, I tried to call my lover,
but she didn’t answer.

My final words would be spoken
to a heartless machine.

“I’m sorry honey. I don’t know what happened.
I’m scared. I don’t think I’ll make it out of here.
Know that I love you until the end of time
and be sure to look after the kids. Tell them
Daddy will be with them always. Goodbye.”

Around me there is shouting, blood,
broken bones, shattered lives.
I see a few of my colleagues trying desperately
to carve a path through the blocked stairwell.

The smoke fills the room.
I am coughing, straining.
Trying to keep myself sane in the madness.
But it seems chaos is the order of the day.

I am practically flailing about
but soon I realize.
There’s no point.
Help is not coming.
There is no way out.

I crawl over to what is left of my desk.
Nearby my family smiles from the picture frame.
I smile back, tears running down my cheek.
Someday we’ll be together again.

Suddenly a loud creaking.
A quake like rumble.
This is it.
My soul collapses into me.

Then there is nothing.

But the deep recesses of eternity.

Hell of a way to spend a Tuesday morning.

Nope, she can’t be jailed simply for asking the appeals court to intervene, no matter how stupid or baseless her request is. That would be a 1st Amendment violation, namely the right “to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.” As long as she limits herself to court filings and doesn’t physically attempt to stop the issuance of licenses again she’s scribbling within the lines

The rubber meets the road next week when she finally returns to work. If she attempts to disrupt the issuing of licenses absent an explicit, written stay of the lower court order issued by the 6th Circuit Court of Appeals then she’s fucked and will almost certainly be sent back to jail. Then we get to see if the Oathkeepers really do plan to throw down against the US Marshals.

If the Oathkeepers actually back up their bullshit rhetoric with a show of force the DOJ’s response should and probably will be sweeping RICO indictments of the entire regional arm of the organization. BLM / Department of the Interior blundered enormously letting the Bundy Ranchers get away with that shit, but DOJ will not make that same mistake. Obstruction of justice is a predicate crime under RICO, and while those clowns are busy pulling armed guard around the clerks office the US district attorney will identify every member, preemptively size their assets, homes, cars, pretty much everything.

Heh, Chris Kluwe supports a self-described pedophile who posted half-naked pics of her 8 y.o. cousin online:

The article he links to is a confused mess that gets basic tech details wrong. The 2005 logs come straight from Nyberg’s site (unlike the later logs which come from an IRC chat participant), were saved by WebCite back in May and were admitted as genuine by Nyberg herself, and in addition to the logs there are also her forum and livejournal postings where she names herself a pedophile and defends sex with children.

Gamergate and anti-gamergate are basically two sides of the same coin and both are chock-full of horrible people.

So to figure out what’s needling me about the lyrics, here is the Dylan song:

Come gather ‘round people
Wherever you roam
And admit that the waters
Around you have grown
And accept it that soon
You’ll be drenched to the bone
If your time to you is worth savin’

Then you better start swimmin’ or you’ll sink like a stone
For the times they are a-changin’

Come writers and critics
Who prophesize with your pen
And keep your eyes wide
The chance won’t come again
And don’t speak too soon
For the wheel’s still in spin
And there’s no tellin’ who that it’s namin’
For the loser now will be later to win
For the times they are a-changin’

Come senators, congressmen
Please heed the call
Don’t stand in the doorway
Don’t block up the hall
For he that gets hurt
Will be he who has stalled
There’s a battle outside and it is ragin’
It’ll soon shake your windows and rattle your walls
For the times they are a-changin’

Come mothers and fathers
Throughout the land
And don’t criticize
What you can’t understand
Your sons and your daughters
Are beyond your command
Your old road is rapidly agin’
Please get out of the new one if you can’t lend your hand
For the times they are a-changin’

The line it is drawn
The curse it is cast
The slow one now
Will later be fast
As the present now
Will later be past
The order is rapidly fadin’
And the first one now will later be last
For the times they are a-changin’

Boldfaced are the parts that I think are relevant to me today. Time is indeed quickly slipping away. Well, that is a personal thing. But also, as a society though I think we are seeing the old societal structures really showing their age now. Perhaps that’s why we seem a bit thin on leaders, though we have politicians and pundits coming out of our ears. Too many in a position of leadership are trying to fit the 21st century into middle-of-the-20th century framework.

I watched parts of The Decent One tonight. My take away from this documentary is that the people closest to Himmler seemed so willfully self-blinded to the reality of what he was doing.

The capacity of us humans to lie to ourselves is amazing.

Maybe because it was earlier last night that I was pulling up those headlines about the refugees wanting into Europe. Are they the “waters” that are growing?

It’s been fashionable of late, at least in some circles, to point out how civilized we humans have become as the world has gotten more populated, about how serious crime per capita is decreasing globally, etc. I don’t know about all that - I wonder what is being counted and what is not being counted. If things are so wonderful around the world why are there millions of people displaced due to this or that conflict?

I don’t know how old I’ll live to be. If I live as long as some of my ancestors I will be around for a while yet. Should I live to a 100 I don’t know what America will be like - it will be like today of course but I don’t know what aspects of our society will grow more dominant and what will whither. Maybe the changing demographics will bring about a bit less war-mongering (I hope). My feeling is that sitting here in North America we’ll be better off than most places in the world. Well, good for us. But what about other people. Should we care about them?

Troll Baits Trump:

The picture shows Jeremy Corbyn, who has been campaigning in the Labour Party leadership contest (that is the left-leaning party of Tony Blair), after the party got a drubbing under the fratricidal Ed Milliband (who looks and sounds like a Wallace & Gromit character and was deemed utterly unelectable). Corbyn was considered an outsider and in fact only got nominated by way of some very well-orchestrated trickery (in full public view, getting enough MPs to put him on the ballot ostensibly for the sake of variety), whereupon the Labour membership mysteriously skyrocketed ahead of the vote. Some of these new members were inevitably weeded out, exposed as meddlers from the Conservative party who figure such a radical Unionist Labour leader will scare the voters. So in having a slickly produced outsider strategy bring results that were not forecast, he has something in common with Trump, but only that.

Trump has extensive investments in the UK and really should know more about this man, but really I only post it so as to break the news that Corbyn just won the nomination by a landslide.

NB A little screed from me. Personally, the resurgence of a hard-left in Labour isn’t my thing, but then I don’t like the left-right system, guessing which bag of shit is supposed to be good for me if we send it to London with another few hundred such shitbags that it turns out are all full of shit from the same place, at their best representing a coalescence of either hobnailed recruiters or economic scaremongers who bicker and vote on how to spend our money in what passes for debate. I don’t presume that any given individual is corrupt, but in this case a) I am beyond suspicious that Corbyn won on a platform of integrity amid so much unionist politicking. b) There is at least a clear label on this bag.

btw I think America would be crazy to put this particular bullying mogul in the White House, it seems like he has a very aggressive business and would likely serve himself. But I don’t know about the business interests of the other Republican candidates.

Planning intelligently for the future includes taking into account that Putin’s regime has finally degenerated into fascism and presents danger both to the Russian citizens and neighbors. Many on the far left and far right refuse to understand this (or do, and support this, claiming that Putin struggles against the US, NATO, Rotschilds, global oligarchs, Jews and so on).

I was about to post the story about Corbyn but I see that Trump beat me to it… :-/

Anyway, in brief:

The political party of Tony Blair just took a hard left turn

He is in favor of:
Renationalizing the railways and energy companies
A “maximum wage” to limit the salaries of top executives
A minimum wage of £10 per hour
Financing large scale housing, energy and transport projects through quantitative easing
Crackdown on tax avoidance and tax evasion
Increased top rate of income tax
Scrapping university tuition fees at a cost of £10bn
Nuclear disarmament in the UK
Cutting defense spending

If anything, at least the Overton Window in the UK will be pulled back from it’s increasingly laissez-faire direction.

It’s also telling that writers think of this as a “hard left” turn. When I look at that list only two strike me as inherently socialist:

Renationalizing the railways and energy companies;
A minimum wage of £10 per hour.

Some of the other stuff is proposed, for example, by various “libertarians”. Such as decreasing defense spending.

Financing large projects through “quantitative easing” is more mainstream than lefist.

And even the salary cap isn’t that radical of an idea, if places like Switzerland have toyed with the idea.

It’s really quite amazing how gentle Princess is with the little guy given how big and clumsy she is. She’s really protective of him too. A neighbor down the block walked their dog by while Princess and Schnitzel were playing. The neighbor’s dog started to bark and growl at Schnitzel and Princess moved in and interposed herself between the two. Whenever Schnitzel would try to get around her, Princess would move and step between the two again.

Overall though, the Schnitzel is doing great!

So that guy, Joshua Goldberg, they arrested in Floriduh for impersonating an Islamist on twitter and then helping an undercover FBI agent posing as another Islamist with assembling a bomb to blow up people at a 9/11 memorial?

He also used the handle MoonMetropolis for twitter and for writing articles for Blazingcatfur, a Kahanist site associated with JDL-Canada.

Then you simply didn’t do the proper research.

1. Until the last week the 2005 logs were available at Webcite:

pastebin.com

Those were saved straight from her site back in May. They were in a directory Sarah apparently forgot about.

Then either Sarah or one of her fans complained to webcite and they were taken down. (I saved the webcited copies tho.)

The bulk of the damning quotes comes from these logs on Sarah’s own site.

2. There are still her postings at various forums/blogs. E.g. this one, where she posted as opiumprincess:

web.archive.org

Aside from the outrageous content of the post itself she also wrote in a comment:

I suppose I would’ve had more credibility if I came out in the first post as both trans as a self-identified childlover, but I avoided doing that because I figured it’d mostly just turn into flames about me being a pedophile.

There is more, but that’s the gist of it.

‘Tiffany Setting’ Not Generic, Court Finds

On Sept. 8, a New York federal court handed Tiffany & Co. an unequivocal victory in its two-year-old trademark battle with Costco, ruling that Tiffany setting is not a generic term, and the warehouse club was guilty of counterfeiting by selling unauthorized engagement rings with Tiffany marks.

Tiffany first filed suit against Costco on Feb. 14, 2013, after a customer alerted Tiffany that a Costco store in Huntington Beach, Calif., was selling rings marked as Tiffany that were not produced by the company. Costco said the wording referred to the rings’ Tiffany settings and asked the court to declare Tiffany setting a generic term.

But Judge Laura Taylor Swain wrote that for a term to be ruled generic, it must primarily serve as a generic descriptor. Tiffany, however, also refers to the retailer, she said, citing a Tiffany-funded study (disputed by Costco) that found that 9 out of 10 consumers think of the retailer when presented with the name Tiffany.

Indeed, glad to see Duckworth is running for the Senate now too. She’s great.

Well, I won’t support her in that effort, but I not due to animosity. I simply agree with Mark Kirk more politically. Moreover, he isn’t a rotter like Walsh.

I know-I used to live there. Patronage just spewed out everywhere. It wasn’t too bad out where I was (Kane County) but the property taxes were just obscene.

You think Kane County is bad — It’s one of the least expensive.

Orwellian Nightmare: Congress May Block States from Requiring GMO Labeling

Alternet is being loopy. Commerce is GMO foods is interstate commerce and, given the potential for state laws to have national implications on this issue, the Constitution empowers Congress to act to preempt state laws if needed.

On this matter, Congress can stand solidly upon the Commerce Clause, IMO.

And Mark Kirk does not have to be all Tammy Duckworth is for me to vote for him, since he’s on my team and he’s much more than good enough to pass muster.

Not “party over all”, but I’ll take the very good candidate I agree with over the excellent candidate I do not agree with.

And that in a crux is why the BLM movement exists. People like to cry out “Blue Lives Matter.” Well cop killers aren’t being acquitted or not even indicted. In fact, you’re far more likely to receive the death penalty if you kill a cop than anyone else.

I’m sorry but I have to downding that. If you honestly think the USa would start a world war you have truly taken the counsel of your fears.

Please do. But the US’s history in meddling in other country’s affairs is no longer debatable, and since the Korean Conflict the US’s foreign military engagement has left more death and destruction than the sum of all natural disasters since the Korean conflict. And what did we get in return?

A whole lot of dead and wounded Americans and many allies now no longer trusting us.

And we deserve that.

I had a 1400 sq. ft townhome in Carpentersville. Property taxes were $4,000.

I now live in a suburb of St. Paul in Ramsey County, MN in a 1200 sq ft townhome. Property taxes are $728.

(Of course, I do get hit when it comes to renewing my plates. MN taxes the vehicle value unlike IL, where it was always a flat rate. Since I bought a new RAV4, I expect my sticker renewal to be close to $400.)

Meanwhile, we’re looking at a government shutdown over defunding Planned Parenthood. The House Freedom Caucus, with more than 40 members, will oppose any funding for PP. The leadership attempted to appease them with the offer of a bill to halt all PP funding for a year while “investigations take place” and they refused the deal.

Boehner has stated that he does not want to negotiate with the Democrats to get enough votes to pass the budget bills. McConnell says that he’ doesn’t want the House wasting time on bills that will either die in the Senate or be vetoed by Obama.

While some of the GOP’s putative nominees pour gasoline on the anti-PP flames, other GOPers remain convinced that this time, this time, Obama will be blamed for the shutdown - even though polling still shows strong support for PP.

I lay 3-1 on a government shutdown. Should that sorry thing come to pass the GOP will have shut down the federal government over some doctored video tapes produced by a known fraud. The media will portray the shutdown as an act of conscience by deeply religious people.

re: #341 Higgs Boson’s Mate

Any shutdown can and must be laid down at the hands of the extremist GOP within Congress. It’s all on them. Democrats must make this absolutely clear.

The videos by CMP were BS. Every last one of them. Completely and unequivocably so. Just because CMP produced a bunch of them makes them no more accurate than the Hobbit relays events of an earlier age of man in world history.

The videos are agitprop. And they’ve worked by giving the anti-choice extremists a lynchpin to try and defund PP, even though abortion is legal, fetal tissue donations are legal, and nothing that PP has done - on or off that video falls afoul of the law.

The law is quite besides the point to the anti-choice extremists. They want to see the law undone, and they are more than willing to harm the health care of millions to do it. We know that they’re more than capable - witness the 50+ votes to defund the ACA, which has brought health care coverage to millions that otherwise would not have it and the ongoing efforts to thwart access to millions more.

They must be stopped.

Depending on the individuals medical issues and job functions, I’m actually surprised we’re not seeing more of this here. Between CPAPs, getting paged in the middle of the night when something shits the bed at work, etc, you would think it would be a no-brainer for some home builders to create ‘splittable’ master bedrooms with matching beds. Sleep disturbances isn’t trivial-your body does a significant amount of damage control/repair, and having that get messed up isn’t a good thing.

It’s also telling that writers think of this as a “hard left” turn. When I look at that list only two strike me as inherently socialist:

Renationalizing the railways and energy companies;

The US basically had a salary cap when we had a 90% top marginal rate.

It is quite a disturbing video. I know nothing of how this is handled by law enforcement routinely. Dealing with a mentally ill person who is obviously agitated, I gather, is handled differently in a medical setting.

why medical personnel couldn’t be doing the transport is not something I understand.

It’s probably a jurisdictional/procedural/bureaucratic/budget/personnel vipers nest as to how this is handled by police departments.

All I see is a person of an ethnic group that is at risk for high blood pressure. This mentally ill person who may have high blood pressure is agitated from the start possibly raising already high blood pressure—then is man-handled (by what seems like standard uncooperative prisoner procedure), falls, and is subsequently tasered 4 times.

Yeah, this could be recipe for a heart attack or stroke.

From the video, I can’t see that any of the officers were openly hostile to the prisoner.

It doesn’t help to hear her say “you guys said you weren’t going to kill me” as she is removed from the cell.

I have to get on with my day.

What I am sick of is this notion that wanting police officers who are trained professionals to be held to a high standard is somehow anti cop. I am not anti cop. I am anti police brutality. Just like being opposed to war crimes doesn’t make me anti military. We need to be better equipped as a society to deal with and understand mental illness. Blaming mental illness as we often do following tragedies like Sandy Hook and Charleston isn’t the way to do that. It just stigmatizes those with mental illness and puts an image in the public’s mind that mentally ill= violent and out of control.

LIHOP or MIHOP?

MIHOP. (Had to look it up.) “Controlled demolition”

She started out with the standard ‘Jet fuel burns at 1700 degrees, but steel melts at 2500 degrees’, and when that was debunked, she went to ‘why did it fall symmetrically?”

So I told her she had to answer these questions:

Why?
By whom?
For what purpose?
And how do you account for the Pentagon and Flight 93?
Why did Osama bin Laden and Al Qaeda take credit, and later when hounded by the US, why did they not go public with that knowledge?
How has this effort, which must have involved hundreds of people, managed to be kept secret?
For 14 years, not ONE PERSON involved has had an attack of conscience that made them go public?

Her response? “Look into them for yourself!”

The worst thing is, like a lot of truthers and denialists, she’s rational about pretty much everything else. I’ve known a number of folks who have just one CT they fall for, where they go completely off the rails, while arguing rationally against all other CTs.

Boring to watch, but fascinating to think about.

MN has The Devil’s Kettle on the Brule River in the northeast tip of the state along the north shore. It’s a great hike back in the woods and it’s pretty fascinating to watch. The river splits in two at a rock outcropping. Half of the falls drops to the river below, and the other half disappears into a hole and no one can figure out where it ends up.

Jeremy Corbyn is 66 now, he’ll be 71 when the next election comes around in 2020 and he doesn’t look in the best of health anyway. I don’t see him still being the Labour Party leader in five years time but he’ll act as ablative armour while he lasts. His election may push the currently right-wing Labour party to the left such that a sliver of daylight can be seen between them and the Conservatives. Oh, and fuck the UKIP.

Was it the Naniboujou lodge? I’ve never stayed there but that dining room is amazing. The colors are just as bright as in this photo. An amazing place. The north shore of Lake Superior is my favorite getaway.

BTW, screenshots are not the best evidence when it comes to tweets. Arguably they are not evidence at all since they can be easily faked.

This however is evidence, while it lasts:

So that guy, Joshua Goldberg, they arrested in Floriduh for impersonating an Islamist on twitter and then helping an undercover FBI agent posing as another Islamist with assembling a bomb to blow up people at a 9/11 memorial?

He also used the handle MoonMetropolis for twitter and for writing articles for Blazingcatfur, a Kahanist site associated with JDL-Canada.

A thoroughly twisted individual who dabbled in a little of everything - and none of it any good.

Of course, that will likely be the spin his lawyers use - that he was mentally ill and therefore not fully aware his actions were wrong.

It’s either that or he really is just as sick and twisted, and that he knew what he was doing - and did it anyways.

One of the sadder things I’ve seen on the Internet has been Richard Dawkins’ descent into virulent anti-Muslim bigotry. He’s always been an argumentative atheist, but now he’s as bad as Pamela Geller when it comes to Islam in particular.

I’m not inclined to believe anything a terrorist who posed as a free speech advocate, a female feminist and an ISIS Islamist at once has to say, esp. before the arrest, while he was still managing these multiple sockpuppets

Maybe he was the first to tip Milo off to that website, or maybe, as Milo claims, he already knew about it. Speculation either way.

Sam Harris is another lefty that is very anti-Muslim too. I sadly know all too well that the left isn’t immune from anti-Muslim hate. I really understand why people have a problem with religion but I also have a problem with blaming Muslims like you, Dr. Lizardo, Tardis, and I apologize if I missed any other Muslim lizards and my friends, neighbors, coworkers, and classmates who have been Muslim for Al Queda. Plus I hate how it is ignored that Al Queda, ISIS, etc has killed more Muslims than non-Muslims.

We have a black and tan doxie and I really (really, really) want an English Cream. Our little bean is so cute and he never ceases to amaze me. He can jump onto almost anything (couch, bed!) and with his little stubby legs I have a hard time wrapping my head around the physics. He jumps onto things my Cav wants to but never can.

Keep us posted on Schnitzel’s progress. Pictures welcome!! :-)

Well, “inclined to believe” doesn’t mean I do believe. But that post was written at the time, and it’s backed up by an email. We don’t know if he was telling the truth, but I don’t see why he would lie about that, and Milo’s reply back to him seems to indicate that he was hearing about it for the first time: “This is right up my alley.” If he had already heard about the Shaun King accusations I think he would have said so.

And Milo is behaving in a very guilty way right now, deleting tweets and lashing out.

I don’t know for sure who’s lying, of course. But Milo has a very strong motive to lie at this point.

re: #440 Charles Johnson

Note that I don’t doubt the emails, because Milo did confirm them (he already has a whole article about this). So the question of trust is indeed irrelevant: Goldberg couldn’t know whether he was the first, he could only speculate on the basis of this correspondence, exactly what we are doing now.

So it boils down to whether Milo would or would not have indicated that he had read the renewsit article to Goldberg. Seeing how Milo is hardly a straightforward fellow (going by his twitter behavior) this is a shaky basis for a firm conclusion.
