From the link:
Conclusions Conducting epidemiologic research on ASD in adults is feasible. The prevalence of ASD in this population is similar to that found in children. The lack of an association with age is consistent with there having been no increase in prevalence and with its causes being temporally constant. Adults with ASD living in the community are socially disadvantaged and tend to be unrecognized.

As I had to be out and about doing things I was not able to watch tonight’s entertainment.

While on the road I was able to find a Salem Communications Network station - and I hope that corporate name rings a bell - through which to listen.

I only caught about half of the 2 hour extravaganza, in 10 minute pieces.

But from what I heard it didn’t sound that different than the first “debate”.

Walker did sound a bit more aggressive tonight, but I don’t know if bearing his teeth will bring back the masses to him.

The one person who stood out to me, in a bad way, was Carson. He sounds even limper on the radio than he seems on TV. Just listening to him speak betrays that he is not into debating.

Also, were the other candidates afraid to really attack Fiorina? I realize the GOP really, really wanted a woman on stage, so maybe the memo was circulate to not expose her too much?

Trump on vaccines was hilarious, in a sad way.

Rand on Trump on vaccines was sad too.

And how can Carson, who seems so aware of what scientific literature says on vaccines, be so oblivious to what scientific literature says on climate change?

I miss seeing the visuals, in order to evaluate the quality of their cloth, whether it be poor or if it be fine. You can tell a lot about a man by the way he is bespoken.

Here’s a bit of reality - while driving around San Diego I could only find one station, AM or FM, which was broadcasting this show.

That was the Salem Radio station (local 1170AM).

So, for all our interest in this topic, it would seem that the radio audience in San Diego mostly skipped it.

Now, for CNN they will get good ratings. Perhaps 3 or 4 million households, significantly above their average. Most Americans will have missed this.

I don’t know whether that is good or bad for us.

re: #229 KGxvi

The thing that made me go Defcon 2 was the fact that the community that I was referring to in my first rant has gotten really nasty for me, because I am the one being judged for liking Clara and Moffat’s writing.

Fun fact, as I mentioned before Series 7B pulled me from a bad depression. I’ll be blunt. There were times I had decided that hell would have been preferable to the loneliness and pain at that time. If not for that, and The Name of the Doctor especially, I might not be here, but be a sad statistic. And, when I went to New York last year, I met other fans who said the same (My greatest regret recently is not getting the FB for a handful of women who made that conference a blast).

So seeing the bashing now, and the rather stupid cheering, and to some extent the bashing those who are fans of Clara and Moffat, finally got to me. It took more than 2 years though.

Oh, and fun fact. People have said Moffat has been bad for Doctor Who. American Audiences have tripled under his Showrunner-ship, and South Korea now has as many viewers of Doctor Who as the United Kingdom. I would say he is good for Doctor Who. And that is not counting the rise in ratings in other nations, namely Canada, Mexico, and Brazil.

re: #239 whitebeach

You bring up one of the most glaring bits of lack of self awareness by that GOP crowd.

The successful 9/11 attacks - and people always seem to forget there was an earlier terror attempt on a “9/11” that failed, -happened 9 months after the Bush administration had been in office.

I personally don’t blame GWB for the attack, but it shows that his administration was as negligent as the previous one (under which the failed attempt took place.)

Another bit of lack-of-awareness, though in this case it might be more a lack of honesty, is calling ISIS an “existential threat” to the US. I don’t think that word means what they think it means.

Why are the so called mainstream media so blind to her overt bigotry?

Reading The Commission: The Uncensored History of the 9/11 Investigation last month, I got the distinct picture that, while the Clinton Administration did have failings, they at least were wanting to deal with it.

The Bush Administration simply did not care about Al-Qaeda.

I do know it is risky admitting a little of that, but I have had really bad times, and I am thinking hiding them doesn’t help anyone.

Fun Moffat fact - he was a writer for the series Coupling which in season 3, I think, had a character wearing a t-shirt about bringing back Doctor Who.

I have no idea. It doesn’t help that Maher sticks up for her and calls her liberal critics anti free speech. Uh no Bill some of us have Hispanic friends and family and we don’t like your racist pal Annie accusing them of ruining America.

The three thousand who died on 9/11 might also have some opinions about how safe W kept them.

That’s very true. I don’t blame Bush for 9/11 but Obama is and was much better on national security.

Rand Paul (yes, I know, WTF), John Kasich, and Bush and Rubio to a certain extent.

Right she’s a fascist. Bill is just blinded because they’re friends who I think had a fling once. Opposing Coulter’s hate speech isn’t anti free speech at all.

I partly agree with what you say. But the 9/11 attacks and the first WTC bombing don’t show that Clinton and W were as negligent as each other. The first attack was a sucker punch thrown from nowhere. The second was letting the same guy sucker you again, much harder.

As for the “existential threat” posed by ISIS, you’re absolutely right. They’re no more an existential threat to us than the Viet Cong were. Unfortunately there’s one political party that survives purely by spreading fear.

re: #240 The War TARDIS

I jokingly refer to Moffat as MOFFAT! on line. But he’s a hell of a storyteller, and telling a story like a Doctor Who has to be incredibly difficult because with this type of time travel, writing and continuity issues must be difficulty level 11. Like I said, if you love the show - and it sounds like you do because it saved you - enjoy it and screw the haters. The next companion might not be as good as Clara, but the show will go on and still be fun.

re: #262 KGxvi

I accept Jenna will want to leave. She first appeared as a companion over 3 years ago (making her the longest lasting companion, aside from Nicholas Courtney), and will have a run longer as a companion than a number of Doctors (1st, 2nd, 5th, 6th, 7th, 8th, and 9th Doctors).

Doctor Who is an incredibly intense show, and actors have been known to disappear into their character. This happened to William Hartnell and Tom Baker.

I do hope they choose someone amazing. I wouldn’t mind Alex Kingston rounding out the remainder of Capaldi’s Tenure, which if history is correct, Series 10 or 11 will be his last, along with Moffat’s.

Since Tom Baker left, it has been a general rule to keep the Doctor for 3-4 seasons. Largely for earlier reason of mental health of the actor.

Also, I love this clown graphic. It’s the tires.
