Video: WH Press Secretary: Offensive Views Are Part of Trump’s (And the GOP’s) Base

“Those are the priorities of today’s Republican Party”
Politics • Views: 58,154

YouTube

Following that harrowing moment at Donald Trump’s town hall event yesterday, White House Press Secretary Josh Earnest let Trump and the Republican Party have it today, saying, “Is anybody really surprised that this happened at a Donald Trump rally? I don’t think anybody who’s been paying attention to Republican politics is at all surprised.”

Watch the whole thing. Earnest tells it like it is; this is about as blunt as the language ever gets in Washington DC.

You might say Earnest was just being earnest in his accesment of the GOP. YEaaaaaaaaaah! And yeah he’s absolutely right and they will prove him right by spewing a bunch of racist crap about Earnest’s boss.

Well, we all know the old saying ‘Ye shall know the truth, and truth shall set you free?”

That is the ultimate poison in politics.

“All lies in jest, still a man hears what he wants to hears and disregards the rest.”.

Pandering to racists. It is the go to GOP strategy.

When they say the President is a muslim, what they mean is Obama is NOT an American.

Absolutely seething right now. Just saw an old friend who was assaulted yesterday on the Red line subway here in Los Angeles. He’s really hurt. Not hospital hurt but in pain, bruised, sore. Beat to crap. The man that attacked him did do so not because they argued, or for a crime like robbery. It was a STRAIGHT UP HATE CRIME. Slurs, then insults, my guy tries to run, then run down to the end of the subway car, punches, kicks more slurs…. And nobody stepped up to stop it. Not a fucking soul. I’m leaving the ethnic details out as irrelevant.

Coming after that seeing this video just,…. it’s too much. Donald Trump is fomenting violence against us, our friends, our fellow Lizards, the very empathy and kindness in our souls.

The GOP has got to go. History’s dustbin. Excise the cancer.

About time the White House started to wade into the hateful, racist rhetoric coming out of the GOP. They’ve let it fester until it’s reached the stage where they can use the Bully Pulpit to call fucking bullshit on these scumbags. Should be fun to watch over the next few months. If the GOP is stupid - and Trump is arrogant, but not stupid, and it’ll be interesting to see if it comes down to being the same thing - they’ll escalate with the White House.

Thing is, Mr. Trump: Obama can call press conferences with the big ol’ Presidential Seal and flags all over ‘em. And when he calls you out for being a racist dickbag, that is something that we in the media are going to run in heavy rotation. Over and over again.

That’ll leave a mark.

Meanwhile, the GOP blocked passage of the Zadroga Act, which assists the 9/11 responders suffering from ailments due to exposure at Ground Zero.

The GOP considers these folks disposable heroes. They claim the cost is too high. Thousands of responders were exposed to toxic materials at The Pile. Many of them middle class folks.

This is after President Bush promised to make sure that the nation would do what it took to care for these folks. That promise has been ignored time and again - mostly by the GOP that wants to avoid its responsibilities.

And I love their talk of fiscal responsibility here too. That’s their stock response, but it rings hollow since it will cost the government more in doing nothing here - and it will cause even more financial harms to these responders too.

A beat-down on the Red Line? WTF? I ride the Expo Line with some regularity, and there are often LA Sheriffs around (if for no other reason than to bug us for our Tap cards). Nobody thought to report this shit?

Damn. Sorry to hear ‘bout the beat-down. Not cool. I know LA is a seething cauldron of races bumping up against each other - the “Crash” movie kinda tried to show that, albeit in a simplistic & reductionist way - but still.

Yeah the Sheriffs are all over the platforms and stations but way too rare on the trains. And there is no 911, no cell service. If you pull the emergency stop between stations the sheriffs take a long time to get there. The next station is the closest help underground. Need the cops on the trains! Not just fare checking at the turnstiles.

Racial tensions had improved, but then the economy turned and now we have The Hair out there inciting violence over imaginary training camps, imaginary terrorists. Gah.

Speaking of SMOTI:

Yeah, he’s a plant. So too is Trump, because his answer simply pours gas on the fire that Obama is a Muslim, non American, etc.

Trump has long been a birther. That’s indisputable. His answering the question is likewise indisputable.

But to claim the questioner was a plant? That’s laughable, especially since if Trump didn’t believe that Obama was Muslim/outsider he could have slapped down the guy by saying no - he’s an American citizen born in the US, and there are no Islamic terror training camps here in the US.

Trump refused to say any of that. Rather, he said he’d look into that - the object of that being the claims that Obama’s a Muslim non-American.

For several months, I’ve been thinking I had a computer problem. Six years old, out of date software, everything loaded incredibly slow… so I finally went and bought a new computer. It’s lovely. Called Earthlink (stop laughing) to talk me through setting up my e-mail, everything was way slow, they informed me there was a problem on the line. It’s Verizon’s fault.

The Verizon people were just here, they tested the line in the basement and said oh, yes, it’s very slow, definitely our fault. Too bad it’s after five on a Friday. Maybe tomorrow morning we can fix it.

I’ll love the new computer when I can use it. There’s no wires on the mouse or keyboard. Nifty.

Good as time as any. Obama’s heading into his last year, he already has the Republicans scrambling over his lame duck moves, they are sorta forced to look somewhat reasonable in an election period and that makes it an open hunting season if they choose.

But they don’t have to go crazy. Just like they did with this press conference. Answer every dumb move and explain it in black and white. The Republicans are their own worst enemy. Gentle nudges and some creative Obama trolling and they will continue to look the fool. And he can do it for the party and not cost the candidates much issue.

Trump, for once, is showing genuine fear in canceling the Heritage Forum appearance with less than a day’s notice. He’s terrified of having to talk about the shit that went down yesterday. He can’t just come right out and defend the asshole who called Obama a Muslim, and he’ll look like a coward to his base if he admits Obama is a Christian. He can’t get into the minutia of whatever ethnic cleansing policy he would enact, or “look into” to use his parlance, and he can’t continue with his Christians are the real victims DARVO much longer either given the exact nature of the hate speech he condoned. He can’t further legitimize the lie that there are islamist terror camps in the US without being called on that by the fact-checkers, and he couldn’t possibly avoid the question either if he went to the forum.

Only a total fucking idiot would buy that business transaction excuse, but then only a total fucking idiot would support him to begin with. Right now his campaign is furiously huddling trying to figure out the magic sequences of words that will dig them out of this hole, when everyone knows the only way to get out of a hole is to stop digging.

In a rare setback for the Trump campaign — this time over something the candidate didn’t say — Trump has come under attack for glibly passing over the man’s comments and not stopping him when he first attacked Muslims.

He may not have said it this time, but in the past Trump has said all kinds of fucked up shit about Obama, leveling bigoted innuendo and outright false accusations about his religion and heritage. That’s the reason shit-head fans of ethnic cleansing like the guy who asked him the question yesterday feel safe saying shit like that at Trump’s events, they know he’s one of them.

I don’t think Trump et al. are taking this time to think of a way to dig out of this hole. Instead, I think they are considering how to most effectively double down.

re: #75 EPR-radar

I don’t think Trump et al. are taking this time to think of a way to dig out of this hole. Instead, I think they are considering how to most effectively double down.

Stop digging is simply not an option, because that will lead to Trump losing the GOP nomination.

If they wanted him to double down he wouldn’t be skipping out on the Heritage Action Forum at the last minute. He’d just go and be his usual unmitigated asshole self. His campaign is desperately buying time in an attempt to sort this shit out.

When asked, I predict Trump’s campaign will NEVER identify the supposed super important business deal he’s negotiating today. It’ll be some sort of ridiculous secret and everyone will know he’s just lying again but his supporter’s won’t care.

Not that I think Trump is severely wounded within the GOP or anything. Just, this is the first time I’ve seen his campaign even flinch.

They knew for a long time that they were glibly skipping towards a minefield. Now they know for a certainty that they’re in it.

What are Trump’s options?

1) Some more or less useless attempt at damage control, which will piss off his base and not impress any of his critics.

2) Double down and really try to sell flagrant anti-Muslim ideology.

If Trump and company see option 1 as a ‘loser’ and option 2 as a possible ‘winner’, they may take option #2 even though it is (hopefully) doomed to fail.

I think they’re too stupid to recognize a mortal wound, and stupid enough to campaign through one to victory if there were enough morons to vote him in, which I really really hope there aren’t.

He’s definitely taking #2. All along he has had a real problem with POTUS. That has not ended.

That’s altogether too likely. The media we have wouldn’t bother to check if such an audience person was a GOP plant, even if the lines were obviously scripted “Gee whiz, Mr. Trump. You are so right that hating on others isn’t good.”

That’s why I’m expecting doubling down that is much worse than more of the same. I’m expecting a real attempt by Trump to start running plays from the Nazi playbook.

The international teams are already arriving in the Syracuse area for the World Indoor Lacrosse Championship. 13 will compete, looking to reach the finals at the Carrier Dome on September 27th.

The tournament is being hosted by the Onondaga Nation. Faith Keeper Oren Lyons, at 85, may be retired, but he’s been busy putting the event together. The opening ceremony is Friday evening, September 18th at the Onondaga County War Memorial in Syracuse.

Teams from Serbia, Israel, Ireland, Germany, Turkey, Finland, Switzerland, Australia, the Czech Republic, England, Canada, the United States, and the Iroquis Nationals (ranked #2, Lyons tells us) will be competing. The first rounds will be on the Onondaga Nation, at the Onondaga Arena (Route 11) and at the Village Pavillion, a multi-million dollar facility just completed, on the site of the old Nation firehouse.

35He told the crowd to sit down on the ground. 36Then he took the seven loaves and the fish, and when he had given thanks, he broke them and gave them to the disciples, and they in turn to the people. 37They all ate and were satisfied. Afterward the disciples picked up seven basketfuls of broken pieces that were left over. 38The number of those who ate was four thousand men, besides women and children. 39After Jesus had sent the crowd away, he got into the boat and went to the vicinity of Magadan.

Seriously though, in the Russian translation something else stands in that place in the text (“the vicinity of Magdala”). So I was like 0_o when finding this in the English text.

Taking out members of the American far right brings Clinton’s numbers even lower.

Of those 227 terrorism deaths on Bill Clinton’s watch - 176 of them were caused by domestic rightwing acts perpetrated by two individuals.

Timothy McVeigh: 169 deaths at Oklahoma City bombing
Eric Rudolph - 7 deaths as result of six separate attacks, including the Centennial Park bombing at the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta.

This leaves a total of 58 casualties by all other sources.

The translation of that specific word varies. I’d imagine proper names are probably the hardest to correctly identify and transcribe into a different language.

In the original Greek it’s Magadan, and it could have been translated flawlessly into Russian, but I suppose they went with the manuscripts that have “Magdala” instead. Note that KJV also has “Magdala”.

Also, Jim Bakker’s son also is following quite a different path from his old old man as well when it comes to saving souls.
