Even Ted Cruz’s Republican Colleagues Are Tired of His Far Right Antics

Republican colleagues loudly bellowed “no”
Politics • Views: 49,153

How unlikeable is presidential candidate Ted Cruz, anyway? So unlikeable even other Senate Republicans are sick and tired of him.

On Monday night, Cruz’s colleagues ignored his attempt to disrupt Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell’s efforts to fund the government without attacking Planned Parenthood. In an unusual rebuke, even fellow Republicans denied him a “sufficient second” that would have allowed him a roll call vote.

Then, his Republican colleagues loudly bellowed “no” when Cruz sought a voice vote, a second repudiation that showed how little support Cruz has: Just one other GOP senator — Utah’s Mike Lee — joined with Cruz as he was overruled by McConnell and his deputies.

In tried and true right wing fashion, Cruz immediately began whining.

Cruz was incredulous on Monday, calling it an “unprecedented procedural trick.”

“What does denying a second mean? Denying a recorded vote. Why is that important?” Cruz said. “When you are breaking the commitment you’ve made to the men and women who elected you, the most painful thing in the world is accountability.”

That’s what happens when you’re an unrepentant dick who actually believes the crap your lunatic father tells you about being your country’s savior. It would have been better for us if he stayed in Canada since no way in hell he’d ever get elected there.

Some of these guys even if they’re disagreeable as hell you can see them being able to laugh over a beer or whiskey. Cruz OTOH is the man who admires Jesse Helms and as I Said really seems to believe the crazy crap his father says about him being a savior.

I’d like to take Mike Lee aside and explain to him, “No, Ted Cruz does not consider you a Christian, because you’re a Mormon. Are you REALLY sure you want to take that asshat’s side?”

I was talking to my cousin the other day and her mom’s parents (not my grandparents as she’s my dad’s brother’s kid) was telling me about how her grandparents were staunch Republicans but also staunchly pro-choice too. Gerald and Betty Ford were too. H.W Bush and Barbara until H.W needed the lifers to win the nomination. In fact, there were always a lot of anti-abortion Democrats in Western PA and a ton of pro-choice GOPers like John Heinz.

OK, so Trey Gowdy is from South Carolina. SC has the death penalty (lethal injection since 1994, electric chair prior). He should take out some of the “executioners” (staff, etc) to lunch and discuss their jobs. He may come to learn what gallows humor or just natural desensitization to medical procedures is.

The reality is the Republican leadership knew they could get the RR by opposing abortion. Even Reagan signed one of the then most liberal aborton laws in the nation. Abortion and the right to choose has never been a Democratic or Republican issue until the GOP decided to adopt the oppose all abortion position that you see echoed by Rubio, Huckabee, and Waler today.

It’s getting harder and harder to give people a pass for saying they don’t feel they have an opinion on topics like abortion and then they vote Republican. That is an opinion. You are saying that women’s rights and healthcare comes second to whatever drives you to vote Republican. That’s a very clear statement of where I, as a woman, rank in your worldview.

It’s something that’s very hard to forget, no matter how polite and nice a person they are otherwise.

I don’t want to have children. I don’t want to have an abortion. I don’t want to face that decision, because I don’t know what the decision would be, but I know it would be an incredibly difficult decision for me. I am doing everything I can to avoid having to make that decision - and a large part of what Planned Parenthood does is support women - and men! - in that goal.

They also support women who do want children.

They support women’s right to choose. Our right to agency over our own bodies. That this makes them deserving of attacks in today’s political climate makes me angry, especially with my fellow citizens for thinking that I don’t, as a woman, deserve that right.

The Southern Baptist Convention thought Roe v. Wade was the right decision when it came out.

It was a religious freedom issue to them. It would be a stretch to says they were overwhelmingly in support of the idea but they generally felt it was supposed to be a personal choice and didn’t appreciate the Catholics trying to impose themselves.

As late as 1976 their national convention was passing resolutions in support of Roe, then the politics got ugly (bussing, integrated schools, no scholarship $s for segregated colleges and Univs ), then Falwell.

At the level I do it works out to $10 a book, roughly, and watch for the sales. Also sometimes when you buy the ebook version for Kindle the price for the audiobook will drop down to like $4, so if you can get the ebook for $2-3 then it’s cheaper to do it that way too.

Angela Dawe is my favorite reader but she does mostly romance stuff which I suspect is not what you are listening to. :)

What must the world look like to a committed RWNJ? A movie producer has veto power over the timing of a major scientific announcement. The national army can be subverted into a nefarious and illegal domestic coup and not a word leaks from the inside. Planned Parenthood butchers babies, sells their little bodies to pay for Lamborghinis, and respected media figures and politicians are complicit in this atrocity.

The real world is harsh enough but it must be absolutely hellish for right-wingers.

Indeed, he’s always been an ass but more coherent than this.

Yep. The man was her lawyer and stood up and answered Jim Jordan. Cecile looked shocked at the question. The lawyer looked pissed. Chaffetz asked that they keep the questions to Cecile.

That was a red herring. If it was Nazis half of the conservatives would have to call their doctors about that “lasts longer than four hours” thing.

I wonder if Obama Derangement Syndrome will bleed seamlessly into Hillary Derangement Syndrome, or if there will be some transformation that will take us to new, never-before-seen heights of derpitude.

Unless the murderer is white and uses a gun. Then they are “patriots”.

It’s perfectly OK to murder a born human being in cold blood. But we care about the blastocysts.

Probably. Clinton Derangement Syndrome, like some medieval plague (but uglier) may subside at times, but always flares up again when its vectors (like rats, or the political MSM) get out of control.
But I think you’re right about the supernova-of-derp we can expect if Hillary Clinton gets
elected President next year: few things will send political extremists right around the bend like a blatant public rejection in a national election: I just have a sinking feeling that “uglier” is going to be an inadequate description….

Our right to agency over our own bodies.

I continue to be flabbergasted that there are still people who think denying an adult that agency can somehow be justified.
