Anti-Choice Extremist Behind Planned Parenthood Videos Arrested in Australia

Newman calls for doctors who perform abortions to be executed
World • Views: 61,284

Operation Rescue leader Troy Newman, one of the people behind the deceptively edited Planned Parenthood “sting” videos (and a crazed extremist who calls for doctors who perform abortions to be executed) was denied a visa to visit Australia yesterday, but today he got on a plane headed for Oz anyway, obviously hoping for a confrontation he could exploit for propaganda.

But tonight we learn that Newman has been detained at Melbourne Airport pending his removal from Australia: Anti-Abortion Activist Detained After Flying to Melbourne Despite Visa Cancellation.

Mr Newman, who has questioned why doctors who abort babies are not executed, had his visa cancelled by the Immigration Department yesterday and was stopped from getting on a flight in Denver.

But the ABC understands he flew on a United Airlines flight, and a spokeswoman for Immigration Minister Peter Dutton said the airline now faces a fine for carriage of a person who does not hold a valid visa.

“Since Mr Newman-Mariotti does not hold a visa, he is unable to enter Australia and remains in the presence of ABF (Australian Border Force) officials at the Melbourne Airport pending his removal,” the spokeswoman said.

Damn right United ought to face a fine - and a hefty one, too, one hopes - for letting this bozo on a flight w/o a visa. Did he maybe, lie to the airline when asked? DID anyone ask? Or did some desk agent in Denver fall for a story:
Oh, he seemed like such a nice man, and he had to get to Australia right away to see his poor sick old granny….

From the Southern Poverty Law Center:

A [Center for Medical Progress] board member, Troy Newman, is also the president of Operation Rescue, a hard-line anti-abortion group that boasted of aiding the CMP “investigation” with advice and material support and has demanded “criminal prosecutions of Planned Parenthood officials.”

In 2003, Newman issued a press release attacking “judicial tyranny” in the prosecution of Paul Hill, who murdered an abortion doctor and his bodyguard in Florida, and arguing that Hill, who was executed the same day, should have been able to present a defense of “justifiable defensive action.” A 2004 Los Angeles Times story described Newman shadowing clinic workers and seeking “not just to make their lives uncomfortable” but also to “disgust their friends and associates.”

Fuck this dude with a chainsaw.

Because the US and Australia don’t have an arrangement to allow that. We have a no-visa arrangement with Canada and the UK, but not with Australia.

It’s my understanding that Troy Newman is the eminence grise behind the “Center” for “Medical” “Progress” videos. He knows he’s poison, so he got David Daleiden to front for the group. But you can’t hide those initial filings.

A “initial registration form” for CMP (viewable here), filed with the Office of the California attorney general in 2013, lists three board members: David Daleiden, Albin Rhomberg, and Troy Newman.

thenation.com

Charles pointed out how Newman supported anti-abortion murderer Paul Hill. I went to Pensacola in May, that’s where Hill murdered a doctor and his bodyguard back in 1994. I wasn’t 10 minutes out of the airport when I came to a T-intersection and up in the trees, facing me, was a sign, red on white, which read “ABORTION IS MURDER.” I said to myself, “I am not in Arizona anymore” and was thoroughly creeped out.

Outside in the courtyard behind the church associated with Paul Revere in Boston, there was this memorial to the American troops that died in Iraq and Afghanistan, which I thought was beautifully and simply done.

They knew his visa had been cancelled as he got pulled off a connecting flight, and I suspect the visa system is automated and notifies any carriers of visa status changes. But then likely the arsewit made a range of threats, some involving lawsuits or bad PR from the anti-abortion crowd and of course someone at United caved in. And likely the size of the fine wasn’t enough to deter them.

Anyhow, good on the Australian government (for once) for cancelling his visa, although it shouldn’t have been issued in the first place.

And it was partly at the request of an Opposition MP that it was cancelled

“Newman … was branded an “anti-choice extremist” by the Labor MP Terri Butler, who said Newman’s visa should be denied on character grounds. Labor calls for visa ban on activist who called for abortion doctors to be killed

Butler wrote to the immigration minister, Peter Dutton, on Monday arguing that the campaigner could “cause significant harm to our community” because he had previously called for the execution of abortion doctors. “

In another blow to the Clinton campaign’s “nothing to see here” narrative, the latest release shows that hackers targeted her personal email at least five times in August 2011, as part of a widespread speeding ticket hoax. It’s not clear if Clinton ever clicked on what appeared to be virus-laden attachments that security experts say seem to have originated in Russia. Clinton and her surrogates have argued there is no evidence her “home brew” email system was ever compromised.

I really doubt that. The airlines have the responsibility to check passports and visas, when required. That’s a very important obligation on their part and, if they want to continue to fly into foreign countries, it’s one that can’t be abrogated or ignored and United has a very large presence in Australia. It sounds more like an oversight on the part of the gate personnel. Since it’s resulting in a fine being imposed on the company, I suspect they’re subject to being fired or scheduled for additional training. United is a very large company and I don’t believe they’re too much worried about the fetus fanatics.

When I travel back and forth on United between China and the States, my passport is checked at least three times: check in, security, and immigration/customs. Sometimes, the gate personnel do not check the passport/visa, if you have a boarding pass stamped by security, but sometimes they do. The visa and passport details are on the airlines’ computer systems, so the gate personnel would see a passenger flagged on their terminal, and call him or her to the desk.

As I understand it, Newman was on a connecting flight within the USA, so no one probably would have bothered to check his passport/visa until he reached the international departures terminal. I’m betting he threw a fit about being denied boarding, and badgered the gate personnel to allow him on board. Their mistake, because the law is on the airline’s side.

Wow, the wingnut press is going apeshit over Putin and Obama, claiming Obama is weak and hence the U.S. is weak. Quite a difference from the Bush years when *ANY* criticism of him regarding Iraq was viewed as emboldening the enemy and claimed to be treasonous.

I’m not sure McCarthy’s quote means what everybody thinks it means. If you remember that guy from PA who said something like “Voter ID in PA which will give the sate to Romney - Done”. That’s unequivocal. This guy’s words (I know he’s a sleazeball) say that the hearings showed that Clinton isn’t trustworthy (which they didn’t). I think this guy chose his words carefully enough to give himself wiggle room to act like he’s being persecuted when anybody would misconstrue them.

How about sending him via slingshot? We’d need one heck of a mitt to catch him.

How about this: We buy him a little house and call it a consulate, making it US territory. And we leave him there. He can’t leave without entering Australian territory, which he isn’t allowed to, and we just drop him a supply of chips and beer every so often.

Consulates are not the territory of the nations that run them, only embassies count as that. Consulates do have some special rights and consuls and some of their staff do have consular immunity, but the consulate remains part of the nation in which it is located.

It could hardly be otherwise, for in Chicago a number of consulates simply have floors in downtown buildings. It would be a problem if they were territory of the nations running them, for then said nations could keep people from using the building’s elevators to go to work without first getting permission.

The gay marriage angle is irrelevant and is simply Fox News trying to enflame religious conservatives in order to drive up its ratings. Such DERPitude is standard FNC procedure.

However, Russian hackers trying to break into the Secretary of State’s server? Important news story, though its to be expected that Russia would try to break in. But Hillary’s early failure to encrypt her server and some of the messages found on it make the case in my mind that she is not paranoid enough about information security.

With all the time and money spent on the Benghazi investigation, here’s a question that the GOP wont want to answer. Have they increased funding to State Department security budgets to improve security at diplomatic facilities worldwide? We know that the DoD has set up a rapid response force to address some of the concerns in Europe. But has the GOP funded the State Department budget appropriately so that they have sufficient budgets? Or are they playing the game of talking about security and Obama Administration shortcomings while doing nothing about the Administration requests to bolster said security.

For those of you who are at all in doubt of what the endgame of the push for”Voter ID” legislation, yesterday’s actions by the Alabama state government should make this absolutely crystal clear.

Voter ID and driver’s license office closures black-out Alabama’s Black Belt

A helpful breakdown of where those closures are taking place:

Eight of the top ten counties polling for Obama in 2008 have an office closing.
All of the top five counties polling for Obama in 2008 have an office closing.
11 out of the 17 counties with more than 24% of individuals living in poverty have an office closing (65%).
All six counties with the highest % of black residents have an office closing.
59% of the 17 counties with the highest % of black residents have an office closing.

Having trouble with a spinning blue wheel showing up when I scroll down the page, as well as having the page jump to the top or bottom without warning. Most of the time when I try to scroll it works fine for a dozen or so posts and then the blue wheel shows up again and the page freezes entirely. Typing anything is a nightmare too, so far this short post is almost 10 minutes in. I’ve tried Chrome, Microsoft Edge and the last version of IE I had installed before I went over to Windows 10. It’s pathetic that every time Trump says something bigoted, nativist, or otherwise hateful and demeaning, his polling jumps. It’s as though something among the self-identified GOPers who are swarming to him see something they like.

Comparing it to the flu kind of misses the mark. Having your personal server in your house on which you conduct some of the affairs of state = just plain stupid. For the life of me I can’t imagine the thought process that says “I’ll do my State Department work using the server I have in my basement instead of using the actual communication apparatus of the government” is a good idea.
Using hacked emails for anything is worthless to me. If it can be hacked it can be faked. The way I see it there’s a break in the chain of evidence.

The NHC forecasts are all over the map, which reflects the spaghetti models showing no consensus about what will happen past the next 24/48 hours. In fact, they show everything from a direct hit in the Carolinas all the way out to blowing out at sea with no effect on the East Coast beyond waves and some rain.

My guess is that the East Coast from VA through NYC metro gets a ton of rain - enough to cause significant flooding. Still, the models are also starting to lean towards at least a glancing blow landfall, if not a direct hit somewhere from the Outer Banks to NJ. It’s gonna be a bumpy ride to say the least.

Having your personal server in your house on which you conduct some of the affairs of state = just plain stupid.

I don’t believe that was the situation. I think the server in question was hosted by a private company in a commercial data centre. I’d hate to try and set up an email server covering the sorts of traffic levels that an SoS and her team would deal with on a daily basis over a cable modem or DSL connection to a private home. It was still a personal email server in the same way friends of mine have such remotely hosted setups for personal email.

The security of traffic and access to the server’s stored information would not be up to Government standards or overseen by State Department employees and there would be no official retention policy the way there is for most corporate and .gov email accounts to meet legal standards.

Senator Clinton made an unforced error doing email this way, the protests that other SoSes did this in the past doesn’t make it not a mistake on her part. She may have been badly advised on this but at the end of the day it’s her private communications that have been targetted and exposed due to what she chose to do. The buck stops with her.

<blockquote>This week’s episode involved an appearance by Planned Parenthood head Cecile Richards before the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform. Some critics have claimed the members made no attempt to actually get any information from their witness, but just made speeches for the cameras. Well, duh. At least they let Richards into the room. Which is more than you could say for the Judiciary Committee’s recent hearing on “Planned Parenthood Exposed: Examining the Horrific Abortion Practices at the Nation’s Largest Abortion Provider.”

Richards was fine, whenever she could get a word in edgewise. She explained several times that Planned Parenthood’s federal funding was mainly just Medicaid payments for treating low-income patients. However this is a concept that her opponents made it clear they plan to never get their heads around.

What’s really scary is that if Trump is the GOP Presidential candidate, he may get 46% + of the vote despite being a raving, egotistic bigot. There are people out there who support candidates with an “R” by their names, no matter how deranged those candidates are (see Louis Gohmert, for example).

116
Belafon  Oct 1, 2015 • 6:26:51am

OK, I didn’t know how silly the report on her server actually was (bigstory.ap.org):

Russia-linked hackers tried at least five times to pry into Hillary Rodham Clinton’s private email account while she was secretary of state, emails released Wednesday show. It is unclear if she clicked on any attachments and exposed her account.

Clinton received the infected emails, disguised as speeding tickets from New York, over four hours early the morning of Aug. 3, 2011. The emails instructed recipients to print the attached tickets. Opening an attachment would have allowed hackers to take over control of a victim’s computer.

So, it’s not even clear she was hacked, it’s just that some of her emails could have allowed people to hack. Do you think she wondered “When did I get a speeding ticket?”

Fixed, since Bill Clinton was first elected in 1996.

As for the children of presidents who turn 16 while their presidential parent is in office, I believe they get taught to drive by the Secret Service, which does have a facility set up to teach driving skills. It’s meant for law enforcement, but it can adapt for civilians. Though the children of presidents are apparently taught evasive driving skills as well in case they even get ambushed.

I wonder if I could pay to have my kids taught by the secret service? Then again, I’m not sure I want one of my kids having some of those skills. I’d likely hear about him on TV.

It’s only children of presidents and vice presidents that they teach, as I understand it. But if you want to thank me, upding me.

What frankly Re: Trump and the GOP I’m tired of is the scapegoating. I don’t care if someone is “illegal” or not, they’re a human being goddamnit. Human beings with families and human beings who are far more often than not fleeing a very difficult situation back home to get here. When my first ancestors immigrated to the US in the late 18th century, there was no illegal or legal immigrant, there was just immigrant and not and besides some of my family members may have emigrated illegally. I have no way of knowing one way or the other and that’s precisely why I am sympathetic to these people.

He probably threatened to sue the gate agent and United, and was loud and obnoxious about it. It’s a no win situation for the agent, because with a litigious asshat like this guy, you don’t know if your company is going to have your back.

I’ve been reading about the rise of Hitler a lot lately and the interwar German right is a lot like ours. The scapegoating of Muslims they do is no different from the stab in the back myth.

Getting a bit more like that but still far more like the Spanish example I think. The Fundies are far more scared of the modern world than anything else and that really reflects the hate of the Reactionaries of Spain for their left of center (prior to the war forcing the Republicans into Soviet arms) government as we see here. The anti-science, anti-modern world, reactionary religion of the American far right reflects the people who cheered Franco and his attempts to, in the end unsuccessfully, turn back the clock. Yet here we are 80 years later and the Spanish are still trying to recover from the evil inflicted upon them.

The other examples are the regimes of South America where murderous thugs were propped up in power by outside forces, usually the US (Argentina, Chile, etc) though on rare occasion the Soviets (Cuba, latter day Valenzuela). The ethnic cleansing is not, ultimately, required to make the totalitarian government work, it just makes it easier to happen. And ghu knows that Trump is only interested in easy.

I think it’s a little of both honestly. Certainly they are afraid of the modern world like the Falange and their like minded allies were but I see a little bit of the German example too because of how they fear the outsider i.e. Jews or Eastern Europeans in the German case or Muslims and Latinos in the American right’s case. But it’s all the same rotten ideology at the core. It really is laughable to see Jonah Goldberg attribute fascism to liberalism all the while he and his fellow conservatives engage in the same tactics that European fascists did when it comes to their ideological opponents. I will add also that the German right also had the fear of modernity, a lot of them were greatly threatened by Weimar’s democracy and the Kaiser’s absence.

I don’t care.

You don’t care that individuals with influence in your party, and the core “non-RINOs” openly advocate the following:

1. Repeal of the 19th Amendment (women’s suffrage).
2. Repeal of the 1964 Civil Rights Act and 1965/1970 Voters’ Rights acts
3. Stripping members of a religion of their U.S. Citizenship,
4. Denial of basic constitutional rights of women, non-whites, non-Christians, and LGBTs, all in the name of “Religious Freedom”.
5. Wholesale ending of employee rights, including things like minimum wage, overtime laws, child labor laws, health insurance/workers’ comp, and having the right to organize.

I could also go into how the the rank-and-file of the modern GOP has direct ties to white nationalist and other far-right hate groups, their complete and utter disdain for science (specifically climatology and biology).

Those same individuals will at the same time spew absolute hatred for what they call “socialism”, all without even a basic understanding (or willful misrepresentation) of what the term actually means.

But, as you have so eloquently stated - you don’t care.

I disagree with Trump drifting back into the weeds. He’s establishing a baseline for 2020.

I think this is very likely. The saving grace is that, unlike Wiemar Germany, there it is very simply near to impossible to become president without being elected. Hitler became Chancellor without being elected due to the oddities of their governmental system. The November 1932 elections saw a huge drop in support for the NSDAP that was masked by the games they’d play after Hitler became Chancellor because no one had a majority and was able to parlay that into forming a coalition government.

(I hope this is not considered a godwin as I am carefully trying to discuss actual history and it’s application here)

Kinda funny watching Sen. McCain’s twitter feed this morning. He’s busy complaining about the cost/time overages on the new Ford class carriers. They’re already billions over budget and late on delivery.

It’s not going to get any better. Not when there’s only one real shipbuilder and the acquisition process for the DoD is fubar, and no amount of hearings will fix it. It needs to be completely gutted and started from scratch to eliminate the cozy military-industrial complex that feeds awful programs and results in programs like the F-35 that’s supposed to be the replacement for most aircraft currently in the USAF and USN and USMC inventories, even though it can’t do any of the jobs it’s meant to do nearly as well.

It’s the same acquisition process that allows Congress to force the Army to rebuild tanks it doesn’t want or need. It’s the same process that drives Congress to support military programs that wont deliver as promised - when you’ve got a supply chain that hits nearly every district across the nation, everyone wants a piece of the contract pie, so any cuts will hit a factory back home. So nothing gets done.

It’s the same reason that we needed BRAC to close military bases the military doesn’t want or need. We need a BRAC-type program to wean down the acquisitions process.

I think that’s honestly what made Obama sort of refreshing. Obama was and I know I am showing my age big time here but the first presidential candidate ever to be younger than not one but both of my parents. I think the Dems really could use younger leaders. The Pope Sought Out Kim Davis for a Blessing

On the flight home, Pope Francis was asked about her case. He declined to speak specifically, but spoke generally and strongly of conscientious objection as “a right that is part of every human right” for every person, including government officials. Conscientious objection has long been a tactic in American politics, and figures like Martin Luther King Jr. and Dorothy Day — two Americans praised by the pope in his congressional address — repeatedly paid the price of jail time. In Ms. Davis’s case, critics of her behavior maintain that price should also include departure from public office.

Margaret Sanger was also jailed.

I personally don’t really mind if the Pope met with Kim Davis or not. The thing about the Pope which the wingnuts (and to some extent people across the spectrum) don’t get is that, as far as I can tell, his personal approach to Christianity is based on doing the hard work of bringing people together and reconciling differences. To some extent that means that you have to reach out to everyone and, paradoxically, be somewhat tolerant of intolerance. I always look at the Northern Ireland peace process as an example of that kind of work: it’s by no means a clean solution and there are a lot of people who continue to have legitimate cause for complaint with the situation as it develops, but the fact is that it’s a big improvement on how things were 10 or 20 years ago.

Now that may not fly for some people who are on the receiving end of specific forms of intolerance: I totally get that and it’s their right to complain. On the other hand, my opinion is that his actions are a net positive, moving people in the right direction. Change is hard and takes time.

The military’s role in cost overruns is usually overlooked. My experience in aerospace was that the military causes plenty of costs all on its own. They have a habit of requiring added features, enhanced capabilities, different shapes, sizes, weights, or anything else that might require redesigning major bits or even the whole damn’ thing, throughout the process. I saw bleeding edge gear finished and then moved back to square one because someone decided that rather than installing it here it would be much better there and by the way, you now have ten percent less volume for the thing which will be great because in this location it has to be fifteen percent lighter. The review process for approving such changes seemed to range from superficial to non-existent.

One survey found that two-thirds of Americans believed that the proportion of the world population living in extreme poverty has almost doubled over the last 20 years. Another 29 percent believed that the proportion had remained roughly the same.

That’s 95 percent of Americans — who are utterly wrong. In fact, the proportion of the world’s population living in extreme poverty hasn’t doubled or remained the same. It has fallen by more than half, from 35 percent in 1993 to 14 percent in 2011 (the most recent year for which figures are available from the World Bank).

This, I think, is huge. American’s do live In a bubble. When our collective world view is so wrong — the inability to cope with reality can/ will lead to violence.

We are the ones who will be hurt, and we only have ourselves to blame.

He talks about how rapists are prosecuted, except that many aren’t. There’s still a huge backlog of rape kits that haven’t even been tested. Many women don’t come forward to police to report the rapes out of shame, fear, etc., and they’ve got good reason to.

Just today, there’s reports in NYC about NYPD officers engaging in misconduct towards a rape victim.

Well here is Pregnancy Expert Steve Crowder saying that if a girl makes a mistake, IT’S HER FAULT & SHE SHOULD TOTALLY BE PUNISHED BY “FACING TEH CONSEQUENCES” (A BABY)==>

There’s a local story here about how a Prince William County woman was encouraged to report her rape and then arrested. I haven’t read the details but the way we as a society treat rape victims is awful.

Rape KitS THAT do return DNA that it is matched with a Perp —are still thrown out of court on technicalities.

A good defense lawyer is all it takes.

There is no funding for oversight of rape kit collections, auditing of said and follow-up training. Forensic Nurses do not report to law enforcement. They do not report to anyone and are not accountable to anyone.

IL Budget cuts are a big deal. The counselors at the DV Shelter/SA agency at which I volunteer are bringing in their own toilet paper. All available funds are being used for the 1-800 crisis line.

One of our counselors left last year for more money. She went to work at a Catholic School.

I thought Catholic School teachers were the LOWEST on the pay rung.

This is the Russian air force in action. They don’t care about collateral damage or reducing casualties among civilians.

And they’re going after anti-Assad forces, regardless of whether they’re IS.

To reiterate, Russia is looking to protect its client, Assad. And they will use whatever means are at their disposal, even if it reveals Russia to be incapable of doing more than dropping bombs on a bunch of civilians. The attacks against the FSA, such as they are (and the last 48 hours have revealed attacks against FSA/non-IS targets, not ones against IS-held territory), show that Russia considers those to be higher threat/priority.

This isn’t about counter-terrorism. It’s preserving Assad, even in some diminished capability.

Meanwhile, Syrians are trying to flee the carnage at ever greater numbers, and no one is willing to lift a finger to help.

What a mess.

First amendment, how does it work?

“Real journalists” are those who report things Tammie agrees with. I think UpChuck’s disdain for journalists — aside from they having jobs and he none — arises from the same conservative penchant to prefer news that corroborates their skewed views ofreality.

You’ll enjoy it. There’s more to that post than just the exchange, and he flat out nails it.

I liked this bit:

More or less, that was pretty much all that happened. Throw in an attack on Richards’ salary, which is less than the football coaches at 90 universities, which receive a whole bunch of federal funding, and you’ve got the makings of an old-fashioned asshole-off, where one member of Congress tries to out-asshole the others.

It’s Official. Facebook has announced on channel 1176 it will now be using your computers, tablets, and smart phones to sneak into your bedroom as you sleep. Mark Zuckerberg himself, will quietly enter your bedroom via the internet, tickle your buttocks, and run away laughing. Copy and paste this into your status with a prominent yes or no at the end to allow or prevent Mr. Zuckerberg the ability to come tickle your buttocks in the middle of sleepy time. According to the Facebook agreement we all signed, Mark Zuckerberg can come tickle your buttocks at his discretion.

This is nowhere near a legal document, and yes, come tickle my buttocks.

Defund DoD over $2 billion overrun of USS Gerald Ford. Defund DoD over $2 billion overrun of USS JFK. That’s $4+ billion in overruns on just two ships. ///

Still, those overruns could fund a whole lot of birth control. Or food assistance. Or debt reduction. Or retraining of police to use less lethal force nationally. And give them body cams.

One of the things weakening unions has done is removed the ability for employees to prove that the CEO didn’t do it on his own. An occasional strike said “yeah, lets see you do it yourself.”

Most of the time, the CEO’s reward comes directly from fucking the work force, or in the case of Shkreli, the captive customers.

If a business is doing well, all the employees should be rewarded, not just the top managers and owners. American CEOs are rewarded too much, in my book. They’ve become America’s answer to European aristocracy.

CEO compensation is usually set by the board of directors. Who sits on the board? Often, it’s CEOs from other companies. The CEO whose compensation is being set may have a seat on the board of one of the people setting his or her compensation. The outcomes are predictable.

That’s what burns me, too. An American CEO (maybe it’s worldwide, I don’t know) is rarely penalized for tanking a company. Maybe the golden parachute is more modest than if they had done a stellar job, but they still get a handsome severance package. That sure doesn’t happen for all the grunts working below top management level.

“Bob, you’ve done perhaps the worse job of any account exec we’ve ever had here. So, here’s 3 years’ salary as severance, plus stock options, and some great references for the next job you fuck up.”

true o false

Depends on how you want to argue it.

Any $$ Social Security has in excess is used to purchase Government Bonds, as it is not supposed to have a surplus. So saying that money was borrowed directly from Social Security is false in a direct sense.

But you could argue that the money to finance the war and tax cuts comes from sale of government bonds/financing of government debt, and indirectly is coming from Social Security.

My doctor’s office does not perform mammograms, they write a referral and I take it to the cancer center of a local hospital.

Those boob squashing machines are expensive and not every clinic can afford to maintain one so they send referrals to a big center that specializes in boob squashing.

Women’s health services start and stop with teh boobies. If you don’t service those, you don’t deserve funding for anything else (like caring for the lady bits). /dumbed down for GOPers to understand.

Never mind that the clientele for PP is not the same as those who would actually require mammograms. Mammograms are typically required for women over 35, which is above the age at which women can start to have children. PP serves those women, but also gears towards reproductive health issues of women under 35. So it makes no sense for a PP location to maintain the equipment for mammograms, and the staff to run them (and do the analysis). Therefore, they refer them elsewhere.

Kragar  Oct 1, 2015 • 10:43:04am

In fact, as Butler detailed in her letter, Newman said exactly that in his 2000 book “Their Blood Cries Out,” whose 2003 revision includes this passage:

When moms, dads, abortionists are added together, well over 100,000,000 people bear personal bloodguilt for at least one abortion. The doctrine of community bloodguilt found in Scripture further implicates the entire nation. The perpetrators are far too numerous and the bloodguilt has spread too far. We deserve God’s judgment.

In addition to our personal guilt in abortion, the United States government has abrogated its responsibility to properly deal with the blood-guilty. This responsibility rightly involves executing convicted murderers, including abortionists, for their crimes in order to expunge bloodguilt from the land and people. Instead, the act of abortion has been elevated to a “God-given right” and the abortionists canonized as saints. Consequently, the entire nation has the blood-red stain of the lives of the innocent upon its head.

And also this one:

The innocent blood of the New Covenant in Christ has the power to atone for all the innocent bloodshed from the beginning of time to the end, and to purify the whole earth — the land. Rejecting that innocent blood is to reject the only standard that is effective against innocent bloodshed, excluding the lawful execution of the murderers, which is commanded by God in Scripture.

It’s required by the imaging center; getting it done too often will cause as many cancers as it catches. (that’s why CDC changed their recommendations — it used to be every year after age 40, now it’s every other year after age 50. They’ll do it more often only if you have a family history or genetic test that indicates you’re at higher-than-average risk).

“The pleasures of sex are meant for believers. They are designed for their greatest expression by the children of God,” he continued. “He saves His richest gifts for his children. And as we enjoy His gift of sex, we say, by our covenant faithfulness to our spouse, that God is greater than sex. And the pleasures of sex are themselves an overflow of God’s own goodness.”

Neat picture, bad science writer:

Gorgeous new images of Charon reveal a violent past for Pluto’s moon

Image: nh-charon-neutral-bright-release.jpg

We’ve known for some time that Charon was a very special moon: At half the size of Pluto, it’s closer in size to its host planet than any other satellite in the solar system. In fact, one could make the argument that it’s more of a binary (dwarf) planet than a moon. Instead of Charon orbiting Pluto in the usual way, the two worlds face each other and spin around a common point in between.

Um… that’s how all things orbit each other….

In the case of our own planet and it’s satellite, our Earth is so much more massive than our moon that we just don’t experience in everyday life that the center of mass of the Earth-moon system is different than the center of mass of the Earth itself.

This just showed up in my time line. It’s not coherent, though.

And we know the moons around Jupiter don’t orbit every 11.5 hours. So it sounds like this arrangement is pretty unique.

Neat picture, bad science writer:

Gorgeous new images of Charon reveal a violent past for Pluto’s moon

Um… that’s how all things orbit each other….

In the case of our own planet and it’s satellite, our Earth is so much more massive than our moon that we just don’t experience in everyday life that the center of mass of the Earth-moon system is different than the center of mass of the Earth itself.

I think the implication is that in this case the center of mass actually lies outside both bodies. This is one of the reasons some people consider Pluto-Charon to be a double dwarf planet system and not a planet-moon.

Hey! That’s just to the east of Newark, Ohio (Ne’rk) which is about 40 miles east of Columbus.

I used to drive past there all the time. One of my favorite sporty driving roads is just past it by a mile. It was built years ago when the Longaberger Company was riding a real high wave of business, Since then, they are down to about a 1/8th the staff they had when they built that building. I doubt they have office staff enough to utilize the whole building any longer.

I wonder what becomes of it if they ever shut down?

I knew you’d. recognize it. Longaberger—IT’S A CULT! Been traveling 8 plus hours and still not at my destination.
