Sheriff’s Office: 3 Dead, 1 Injured in Florida Shooting
A man in north Florida fatally shot two people, including his estranged wife, and critically injured a third before killing himself, authorities said.
Levy County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Lt. Scott Tummond said in an interview early Friday morning that the incident happened at a home in Inglis, about 50 miles from Gainesville.
Around 6:10 p.m. Thursday, the sheriff’s office began receiving 911 calls reporting shots fired, Tummond said. An EMS crew and law enforcement were dispatched.
Tummond said the EMS crew arrived first and found two men shot in the front yard of the home. One man, 68-year-old Walter S. Terhune of Inglis, was pronounced dead at the scene. The second, Otis G. Bean, who owned the home and whose age wasn’t immediately known, was airlifted to a hospital in critical condition.
Wonder how calm JEB! would be if I sent him a picture of his toothbrush sticking out of my ass.

Totally. The problem is that agricultural policy, including the approval of GMO products, is subject to manipulation by large corporate interests in the US. It makes it hard as a non-specialist to have any idea whether the thing that just got approved is safe or not.

This is just another example where our political discussion is AWOL because too many of the actors (mostly GOP) are trying to ignore addressing today’s and tomorrow’s issues.
As for GMO - I have no problem with the commercialization of genetic engineering (note I used “engineering” not “editing”.) What I do object to is companies trying to claim ownership of pollen that happens to drift on air or on the hairs of insects, when convenient for them, but denying responsibility of same when it is inconvenient for them.

That’s what annoys me the most about anti GMO people. All genetically modified organisms are not created equal. If you want to get technical, hybrid tomatoes and roses are GMOs. They’re designed to withstand climate changes and diseases that would otherwise kill off heirloom types of the same plants. Hell, some heirlooms came from some farmer mixing a red tomato with a yellow one (my grandpa did this, btw, he never passed on the seeds or named it, he just liked the mixture of the two) or some other experiment. I guess my issue is really the paranoia about it. There’s a big deal over a golden rice right now that has vitamin A added to it and it’s a hybrid that needs less water and is tougher in bad weather. It’s going to help in countries where people are literally going blind from a lack of that vitamin, so how is it bad?
The Roundup Ready shit is another issue entirely and that gets conflated with the good side of the GMOs. It’s not at all the same.

The sheriff investigating a mass shooting at an Oregon community college that left at least nine people dead posted a video to Facebook in 2013 that raised questions about the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting.
Douglas County Sheriff John Hanlin posted a link to a YouTube video called “The Sandy Hook Shooting - Fully Exposed,” which summarized conspiracy theories surrounding the shooting and quickly racked up millions of views, about a month after the massacre took place. The problem is that agricultural policy, including the approval of GMO products, is subject to manipulation by large corporate interests in the US. It makes it hard as a non-specialist to have any idea whether the thing that just got approved is safe or not.
In fairness, that’s the problem with just about every area of policy today. Nor does it help that plenty of experts go through a revolving door between industries and regulatory agencies (which are often underfunded). And that those large corporate interests can form super PACs to influence elections in ways that ordinary people can’t; or just pay large sums of money for PR campaigns (see BP post Gulf spill).

I think something can, something even worse. What could be worse? An incident where hundreds of people are killed, that’s what. For obvious reasons, I won’t discuss scenarios (though Hollywood has) but such a disaster is almost inevitable on our present anarchic course.

Many years ago we had employed a contractor with an option to hire. Sadly, we did not take up the hire option for unknown reasons. As his going away parting shit he sent everyone in our project team an email about the ‘Godless’ Technical Services manager and the ‘Evil’ DBA lead.
This guy didn’t burn the bridge, he nuked it.
A quick check on LinkedIn and I don’t see him on there.
Whenever CCJ pops up it just reminds me of Victor. The only difference between CCJ and Victor is that CCJ is white, and Victor hails from either Kenya or Nigeria.
