Donald Trump: George W. Bush Failed to Stop the 9/11 Attacks

The Trumpenstein goes after a GOP icon
Politics • Views: 50,478

Loose cannon Donald Trump still might succeed in getting on the bad side of conservative voters if he keeps saying things like this: Donald Trump Suggests George Bush Failed to Stop 9/11 Attacks.

“When you talk about George Bush, I mean, say what you want, the World Trade Center came down during his time,” Mr. Trump said.

Blaming 9/11 on Mr. Bush is taboo for Republicans and has largely been off-limits for Democrats. Pressed on whether he really meant to blame the attacks on Mr. Bush, the billionaire developer did not back down.

“He was president, O.K.?,” Mr. Trump said. “The World Trade Center came down during his reign.”

This is Trump’s style; his real target is the former president’s brother Jeb Bush, but once he starts attacking he doesn’t differentiate between family members.

Ouch. But I have to say it really grates me when Jeb says his brother kept the country safe when the 9/11 attacks happened on W’s watch and Jeb knows full well what wold happened if Clinton or Obama had been president when those happened. I don’t blame Bush for 9/11 but at the same time, I don’t think he should get the pass that Jeb gives him either.

It’ll be interesting to see whether this does actually annoy conservatives or not. I have a feeling they might actually welcome the chance to give up the “Bush kept us safe” charade, since Dubya’s now virtually a RINO anyway and it’s Trump saying this rather than some hated non-white, non-male, pinko commie figure.

He’s been a RINO ever since immigration reform from what I’ve seen. Nevermind the fact that these same people attacked anyone who had so much a critical word of him following 9-11.

“When you talk about George Bush, I mean, say what you want, the World Trade Center came down during his time,” Trump said Friday morning on Bloomberg TV.

Bloomberg anchor Stephanie Ruhle interjected, “Hold on, you can’t blame George Bush for that,” before Trump stood by his comments.

your “libberul” press at work

Bush’s White House Press Secretary Ari Fleischer told CNN Friday that Trump sounds like a “truther,” slang for someone who believes the U.S. government was behind the attacks.

“When Donald Trump implies that since 9/11 took place on Bush’s watch he is partially responsible for it, he’s starting to sound like a truther,” he said. “And after all, does Donald Trump also think since Pearl Harbor happened on FDR’s watch that FDR is responsible?”

Hell, we don’t really have to guess at that, because the RWNJs, led by Rush IIRC, laid 9/11 squarely at the feet of the previous (Clinton) Administration, facts be damned.

Donald Trump isn’t the kind of ideological zealot that sets GOP policy these days.

Trump’s response to any given situation is pretty much to look at it for 5 second and then shoot from the hip, preferably as offensively as possible.

That 5 seconds is too much contact with reality for most Republicans.

It’s amazing why this douchecanoe is looking for a better replacement for pyrimethamine since it’s already listed by the WHO as an essential drug for a functional healthcare system and 30 pills can be bought in many Indian pharmacies for pennies on the dollar. All this dudebro did was take advantage of a loophole in the Orphan Drug Act to jack the price sky high and then starts citing studies where pyrimethamine wasn’t being tolerated in mice.

You can thank Big Pharma for making sure that Free Trade never applies to pharmaceuticals.

How I last on Facebook has three main parts.

Lists. Lists are your savior. Stick people who you actually want to read who don’t post stupid political shit onto a list and read that, not the standard news feed.

I never, ever, EVER engage on political or religious topics on Facebook, and I make it clear to people that they can do it SOMEWHERE ELSE instead of on my page.

Also, I ignore it altogether for the most part.

Preventing Jeb Bush in New Mexico.

[…]

On Oct. 26, the New Mexico Supreme Court will hear arguments on a case about this issue. A judge in Albuquerque ruled in 2012 that every New Mexican has the right to determine end-of-life decisions for themselves, but that decision was overturned by the Court of Appeals.

If the Supreme Court decides against letting a competent, terminally ill person make such a choice, I will be introducing a constitutional amendment doing so in 2016.

I had my right middle finger chopped off while I was adjusting a endorser ink pump on a high speed check sorter. My finger was still attached by a nerve and 1/4” of skin. Didn’t feel anything for the first 2-3 minutes, but then I went into shock afterwards. Was hauled into the nearby hospital, where I was whisked into surgery about 4 hours later-it was weird for the plastic surgeon to be taking pictures of the injury.

Fortunately, the surgery was a success, and I still have it attached, even though there’s a bend to it.

This occurred in 1976.

Peggy Noonan explains why the GOP pres. race has turned into a lunatic asylum.

Yup, it’s all Obama’s fault.

The only thing I feel certain of is how we got here. There are many reasons we’re at this moment, but the essential political one is this: Mr. Obama lowered the bar. He was a literal unknown, an obscure former state legislator who hadn’t completed his single term as U.S. senator, but he was charismatic, canny, compelling. He came from nowhere and won it all twice. All previously prevailing standards, all usual expectations, were thrown out the window.

I actually gave Marty a drug idea that would make him money should he decide to pursue it-but I guess his researchers are too stupid to create such a drug or he just intends to milk pyrimethamine for as long as he can until the Dems break the reimportation ban on drugs - at which point, his company is dead.

When I first starting playing guitar, I discovered early on that I played things differently on different guitars. The neck and action contributed, but the big difference was in the sound (timbre, sustain, etc). I also learned that some guitar/string combinations made techniques like hammer ons and offs easier or harder, so I tended to play certain things on specific guitars.

Collecting guitars can be an addiction though.

God, I wish. One of my favorite guitar players in my teens was actually my friend and classmate. He played in a popular band called The Vertebrats and started out on a Jaguar exactly like that. He played it mostly, but later used a LP Junior that was built like it was hewn out of a log—it was a monster.

I’m waiting for the ‘56 Strat equivalent, although I’d settle for a 50s Les Paul Junior.

A friend of mine actually did find one of those when he was in college - a ‘53 Esquire, answered an ad in a local paper, it was still literally under the bed when he went to pick it up. Got it for $75.

A bit OT, but following up on things I’ve mentioned before, I got done with selling off a bunch of my firearms to make my trailer a safer place for my son. Got some of my bills caught up and then had just a wee bit left over to order a little something for myself:

Too funny and about right.

Trump wants to kick out the scary brown people. That’s all his supporters care about.

He could run to the left of Bernie Sanders on every other conceivable issue other than illegal immigration, and he would still command a lot of Republican support.

Thanks all. It’s been a strange week so in the end of it all to do a little something for me is a nice feeling too. It should be a fun addition between the twin P90’s and the ability to play it unplugged quite well. Getting the natural color is a nod to the full size Casino that John Lennon played for a big chunk of his career. The Casino - an “inexpensive” guitar by Gibson’s cheap guitar subsidiary, was the only guitar used by all three of the guitar playing Beatles. Apparently Paul still takes his on tour and gets it out for Paperback Writer, the first song they all did on the model.

It’ll be fun to have a very different sound from my two solid body (telecaster & SG) guitars.

According to Amazon, it’ll be here Monday. That’s the only use I have for Prime :D

I agree. Even the mainstream RNC opted against GWB appearing in-person at their last two conventions.

And I’ve never known a conservative of any stripe who had anything kinder to say about W than “Obama is worse”.

They know the damage his failed presidency did to their party of choice, and even if all they see the GOP as is a “lesser of two evils” they still aren’t happy about it.

Thank you, you put it very well and summed up my feelings on the matter.

The only thing I’d add is that while I agree George W. Bush shouldn’t get the pass Jeb Bush gives him, I fault Jeb only slightly for giving said pass. Jeb’s giving that pass is a very human, and almost universal bit of family loyalty. A man will excuse and defend his brother for actions for which he would react in rage had they been done by a stranger.

And that’s also why Trump’s attack may not work: Because Jeb Bush would rather be a good and loyal brother than president, and I think more people will be sympathetic to Jeb than Trump thinks. Those people might still vote for someone else, but Donald Trump won’t be that somebody.

Bernie Sanders is on Bill Maher:

Maher says he wants Bernie to get the nomination.

Maher says most Americans are already socialists without knowing it.

Maher lecturing Bernie on how to message his campaign.

Sanders running through (his very good & valid) stump speech talking points.

Maher telling Bernie he needs to make the word socialist acceptable, not sure what Maher has done to make that word more acceptable?

Maher is asking details on Single Payer and Sanders can’t go there.

Bernie: lift the cap on SS, tax Wall St. speculation to pay for college.

Mythical tax loophole closure will pay for lots of stuff.

Maher saying he is off the hook this year since Bernie has no SuperPac he can only donate $5,400 to him.

Glad Bernie is out there getting the left message some exposure, his campaign has already been a success

I mostly can’t stay awake for a whole game. It’s soooo slooooow.

Worse than that. I once asked a baseball fan I was dating to explain to me why should I care, what’s the appeal (I’m a basketball fan) — he waxed absolutely rhapsodic about the thrill of following statistics over the course of a season and watching as the numbers…. I nodded off at this point, and when I regained consciousness he’d just gotten to “and there’s no clock! It might never end!” Needless to say, this relationship did not last.

That said, I do find inspiration in Cubs’ fans relentless optimism in the face of all evidence. I want them to have their brass ring.

And I have a vestigial fondness for the Dodgers based more on history than any concern for athletic prowess. Sandy Koufax, Jackie Robinson, and moving from Brooklyn to Los Angeles the same year my parents did, that’s worth a cheer even for a game I care nothing about. Also, Dodger Stadium was the first to put baby-changing tables in the men’s restrooms, they serve sushi at the snack bar, and Dodger Blue is a very pretty shade of blue.

I understand why he’s doing it but when he does it, he’s not speaking as a presidential candidate, he’s speaking as a brother. And honestly, Jeb has to realize that. It is a tough spot I admit but the fact of the matter is the attacks did happen on his brother’s presidency and Jeb I don’t think would have been as sympathetic to reduce it to “my brother kept us safe” if it had been a Democrat or honestly even another Republican. I get that he’s loyal to his brother I really do but at the same time, this isn’t the same as defending your brotehr (I got two myself) when they’re in swabble. That said, Trump is just doing this for petty reasons.
