Right Wing Site IJReview Complains About Attacks on Carson’s Wife, While Commenters Spew Hatred at Michelle Obama

A complete lack of self-awareness
Politics • Views: 61,850

Right wing “news” site Independent Journal is complaining tonight that anonymous people are being mean to Ben Carson’s wife Candy on the Internet: A Cruel ‘Joke’ About Mrs. Carson Is Making the Rounds… and Not Everyone Is Laughing.

The comments about Carson’s wife’s looks are absolutely not cool, and I will not defend them at all. People who make “memes” like this suck.

However… what these right wingers are complaining about is not even in the same galaxy as the horrendous racist garbage that right wing bloggers and commenters have been spewing at First Lady Michelle Obama for six years.

We’ve documented a lot of this stuff at LGF. But all you have to do to see this incredibly ugly mindset at work is read the comments for this very article at Independent Journal, where the racism and sexism are totally out of control and nobody is moderating any of it.

Some samples from more than 600 comments; all of these comments are referring to Michelle Obama and more than a few are openly racist:

I also bet there are never going to be questions about whether or not Candy is actually a woman.

[…]

Candace Weeks t would be nice to HAVE a first lady. What we have now is a first tranny.

[…]

She still is ugly as the south end of a north bound baboon.

[…]

you made a mistake by calling Michelle a lady it is a man name Michael.

[…]

Michelle Obama is ugly inside and out

[…]

Has anyone forgotten what Moochelle looked like in 2007??? She has had ALOT OF WORK DONE.

[…]

She’s still looks like a baboon and dresses like a slut

[…]

she looks like a dude in drag.

[…]

I find Candy Carson to be a much more beautiful and genuinely kind and caring person than Michelle Obama! Besides, a woman who loves God has an inner beauty that is far more beautiful than an ungodly and evil woman! All the latest designer clothes, perfectly coiffed hair and professional makeup can’t hide evil, it always shows itself eventually!

[…]

Even though I am an attractive man, I married a woman who was less physically appealing. She was the best thing to happen in my life, by far. I am sure Mrs. Carson is by far a supierior woman than Michelle. It might be because of whom they both hang with.

[…]

Michelle is a classless American hateing cow that was so dishonest she had to give up her law licence before she was disbarred She has done everything in her power to help her illegal husband bring down this country and turn it into another Kenya and liberals have the nerve to talk about Mrs.Carsons looks an cloths good luck with that

[…]

I still think Michelle Obama is a man!

[…]

Me too! I always have, she is so masculine!

[…]

WHEN did Mr.Ed o’vomit become a beautiful woman ? The First Lady looks like the First HORSE Lady !!!!!!!! I can just hear here whinning……Ohhhhhhhh Wilbur ( I mean o’vomit )!!!!

[…]

Michelle obozo= FUGLY.

[…]

Moochelle looks like a bag of smashed ass holes. Probably smells about the same too.

There are hundreds more comments like these. It’s a hate orgy in there. As I’ve said many times, this is the right wing business model.

The election of 2008 really uncovered the latent racism in pockets of this country.

Every time I hear right winger complain about Obama making “race relations” worse in this country - I now ascribe that to simply being an admission on their part about the closet door being cracked open.

At least once, Dr Carson has pissed off the wingnuts by saying something that wasn’t on-message about race. It would be instructive to go look at how ugly those comments got.

Same crap as always: their bad behavior is always self defense.

My standing opinion that talking shit about a politician’s appeareance is rude and counterproductive—triply so for their spouse or kids—stands.

Self-awareness is not part of the conservative lexicon. Close-mindedness is a feature, not a bug, of the right wing in the United States today.

I obviously don’t condone the attacks on Mrs. Carson’s appearance either but RWers can stop it with the complaining about shit they always do.

The Ghost of the Beardsman  Oct 18, 2015 • 6:41:34pm

On the other hand, let’s remember that talking shit about the current FLOTUS manages to get on FOX News and whole articles on wingnut blogs, and they’re getting a froth up over internet memes.

Motes versus beams, jerkwads.

Oh, and that site - IJReview - for some reason some news aggregators pretend it’s a news outlet like AP or Reuters or Bloomberg.

These fake news outlets have proliferated so much that I bet some large fraction of the people who use the internet - and that will be most people in America - don’t even know that something with a fancy title like “IJReview” is just another hack political machine.

Another example, The New American is a long time propaganda organ of the JBS, but some people think it’s a news magazine.

re: #11 Mattand

Newspapers and magazines always had owners and editorial boards who had opinions.

The key component of journalism, though, is the idea that the facts of a story - who, what, where, when, etc. - can be objectively determined and reported.

That’s why newspapers had opinion pages, which were supposed to be different-in-kind compared to the “news” part of the papers.

However, today with the noise-machine that has grown out of the innovations of the era I now call the old world wide web - and I don’t really know what to call the current state of our electronic inter-connectedness - the idea that there exists two realms, one of “news” and the other of “opinion”, had disappeared.

I suppose I could chalk this up to some post-modernism creep into our public discourse, but that seems too easy and trite.

Belafon  Oct 18, 2015 • 6:50:58pm

I was trying to find out what IJ Review was, and came across this line:

Like Upworthy, the site is focused on framing, not reporting.

Because that’s exactly what we need.

And thus, Luap Dnar gets away with saying things like, “I would say the vast majority of corporations already privately have manuals or work manuals that say that they don’t discriminate in any way. I think that to be a fact.”

No, Rand, you don’t get to think it’s a fact (if you think at all). It either IS or ISN’T.

I suppose I could chalk this up to some post-modernism creep into our public discourse, but that seems too easy and trite.

Post-modernism actually provides a framework for describing what you’re talking about, but it didn’t “invent” it. In spite of its boogeyman status as the hippy “nothing means anything, man” philosophy, po-mo actually does a great job of breaking down the gulf between the object and the perception of the object.

Basically, people perceive A to be A because it performs A-ness. Thus something can be sort-of A, or “A, but a crappy version of A“—and furthermore, the criterion of A is A has a subjective component. My understanding of “chair-ness”—what is a chair, what is a “good” chair, what kind of chair I want—might not be exactly the same as yours. That subjectivity creates things like aesthetic distinctions, personal “style,” and—when stretched out to the level of culture—of cultural misunderstandings and biases.

This does not result in nihilism or intellectual Floyd holes. It just means that human communication is filled with nuanced details. Sometimes the listener won’t get the full meaning of the speaker…and most of the time that’s okay, and when it’s not okay, it’s just extra work.

What you see on FOX News and wingnut sites is basically the inverse of the po-mo “A is sort of A” subjectivity: there’s a denial of subjectivity that is intentional and often cynical…A is A, and can only be A exactly as declared by (pick an asshole). The dissolution of the distinction between fact and opinion is intentional. FNC and “news” websites exploit flawed human heuristics: if something looks about like A, we assume it’s actually A. The po-mo framework is just the kid pointing out the Emperor’s New Clothes.

Look at FNC shows: the layout of the set, the wardrobes, the makeup, the camera angles, the reading and the “casual” talk of the announcers, the various tickers and scrolling text…there is a conscious attempt to echo the design pioneered by CNN and HN. It looks like a news show, as an American of a certain age would assess such things (because of culture.) Fox News does “news” like Brian Williams does “truth”: the exterior performance does not guarantee a deeper level of veracity…but the exterior triggers the heuristic “X looks like A, it should be A.”

Yellow Journalism was working the same corner before the Electronic age. FOX News arguably is an alloy of the TV news format and the tabloid rhetoric shit-raking. In your statement, you placed at the center of the concept “news” the premises that it was emotionless and reported events factually: what you’re up against is a conscious construction of news as opinion-that-is-fact.

Earlier I said that subjectivity is normal, and there’s just a communication gap that people can bridge with extra effort…but what if the gap was being widened on purpose? Because that’s what we’re looking at these days. Much like when I try and talk about epistemology, I’m a bit out of my depth, but the rolling transformation of meaning on the US reactionary right is fascinating and spooky. Colbert’s invention of “truthiness” was supposed to be satirical, but it’s actually pretty chilling when you realize it amounts to gouging out the core of the concept of veracity (as understood by everyone except Thulsa Doom and perhaps some really intense Maoists) and replacing it with self-serving subjective impressions while denying that very subjectivism.

More on the Christian Science Church, courtesy of Wikipedia:

Christian Scientists may take an intensive two-week “Primary” class from an authorized Christian Science teacher.[5] Those who wish to become “Journal-listed” (accredited) practitioners, devoting themselves full-time to the practice of healing, must first have Primary class instruction. When they have what the church regards as a record of healing, they may submit their names for publication in the directory of practitioners and teachers in the Christian Science Journal. A practitioner who has been listed for at least three years’ may apply for “Normal” class instruction, given just once every three years.[6][7] Those who receive a certificate are authorized to teach.[8] Both Primary and Normal classes are based on the Bible and the writings of Mary Baker Eddy. The Primary class focuses on the chapter, “Recapitulation” in Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures. This chapter uses the Socratic method of teaching and contains the “Scientific Statement of Being”.

How pathetic was it that Brady’s old man was talking trash? I’m sorry but I do not like Tom Brady at all. I had that validated big time when I saw he likes Trump. All that needs to happen now is for Belichick to endorse puppy kicking.

Post-modernism actually provides a framework for describing what you’re talking about, but it didn’t “invent” it. In spite of its boogeyman status as the hippy “nothing means anything, man” philosophy, po-mo actually does a great job of breaking down the gulf between the object and the perception of the object.

No True Post-Modernism addresses hippies.

A rather good review of the zombie-eyed granny starver here:

dailykos.com

While Paul Ryan is in Wisconsin mulling over his future, the voices back in Washington tell us that he is young, fresh-faced, charismatic, a serious man, an ideas man, a policy guy, a budget expert, and just plain brilliant. But you don’t need a Mack truck to drive through that façade. Ryan’s words, numbers, and history reveal a fraud and a charlatan. His politics and policies are immaculate deception, a gleaming, shiny veneer concealing the rot underneath.

And that’s the nice part…

Paul Ryan is a perfect disciple of Ronald Reagan and almost as evil. He’s young enough yet that I pray he has his Lee Atwater moment and truly repents long before it’s too late to matter as it was with Atwater. I doubt it, knowing humans but as someone who tries to be a Christian, I’ll still pray for his soul.

Also, Chuck is still wanted in Mississippi for failure to appear / ignoring a grand jury subpoena into the Attorney General’s investigation about whether he paid Stevie Fielder to lie.

He’d better hope this thing never actually makes it to trial, because if it does between deposing Chuck direct on his past stories, putting Fielder on the stand, and subpoenaing copies of the Mississippi DA’s investigation, Gawker will have quite a bit of ammunition to throw at him court. Chuck may well have exposed himself to criminal perjury charges here.

It’s a pattern shared by other RWNJs bloggers, such as Dim Jim Hoft. They never retract errors or falsehoods, nor delete articles that have been proved to be factually wrong.

Chuck reported more than a week ago that Reps. Renee Elmers and Kevin McCarthy would both resign their posts. Neither one has.

He still insists that Michael Brown was a murderer, despite the complete lack of evidence.

Quite honestly, if this case does go to court, he and his lawyer have opened up so many lines of attack by defendants that he’ll be sorry he ever filed the complaint in the first place.

Actual perjury. Not just technically. There’s numerous documented cases of him making assertions as fact, only to be proven wrong. Michael Brown case comes to mind. Ebola “coverage” as well. Come to think of it, it’s pretty much anything he’s ever posted online that skirts the line from lie to smear.

re: #137 The Vicious Babushka

Good question. In this kind of instance, he’ll likely rely on “good faith belief” that what he was told was factually accurate, even though it was voices in his head or white supremacists or other groups who have a track record of lying/smearing.

While there’s federal law on perjury - submitting certain documents require an affirmation that includes a penalty of perjury, 28 USC 1746 (18 USC 1621 identifies the penalty), the issue would likely come up as a FRCP Rule 11(b) violation, relating to filings and motion practice in federal courts.

(b) Representations to the Court. By presenting to the court a pleading, written motion, or other paper—whether by signing, filing, submitting, or later advocating it—an attorney or unrepresented party certifies that to the best of the person’s knowledge, information, and belief, formed after an inquiry reasonable under the circumstances:

(1) it is not being presented for any improper purpose, such as to harass, cause unnecessary delay, or needlessly increase the cost of litigation;

(2) the claims, defenses, and other legal contentions are warranted by existing law or by a nonfrivolous argument for extending, modifying, or reversing existing law or for establishing new law;

(3) the factual contentions have evidentiary support or, if specifically so identified, will likely have evidentiary support after a reasonable opportunity for further investigation or discovery; and

(4) the denials of factual contentions are warranted on the evidence or, if specifically so identified, are reasonably based on belief or a lack of information.

If any of the aforementioned are not met, sanctions could be imposed against the law firm and lawyer.

It would be very easy, since extant $500 dollar bills feature a portrait of President William McKinley. So replacing an image of a Republican with that of a Democrat = “OUTRAGEOUS OUTRAGE!!1”.

It wouldn’t trigger a full-on meltdown because Hoft would have one consolation: Depicting Barack Obama as being on currency at that future date means in that fiction universe he has died by that time, since US law does not allow the depiction of living persons on the currency.

BREAKING, EXCLUSIVE: Our sources at the Treasury Dept. reveal proposed “Obama dollars”

GotNwes’ sources at the Treasury Department have shared an exclusive image of the proposed “Obama dollars” planned to be unveiled after the 2016 presidential elections.
No other presidents will be pictured on the proposed bills. Only Obama’s image will appear. Additionally, each denomination will be a different color.

In that, the proposed bills resemble those of the People’s Republic of China, which only depict the Communist leader Mao Zedong and are also printed in different colors for each denomination.

If only there was a good young’un with a gun to stop the bad one with a gun. Boy, 6, kills his brother, 3, while playing with guns in a Chicago area home.

Moments earlier, a judge ordered Michael Santiago, 25, held on $75,000 bail on child endangerment charges stemming from the shooting Saturday night in the family’s home in Humboldt Park.

The boys had been playing in the home in the 1000 block of North Francisco Avenue around 9 p.m. when the 6-year-old saw the handgun atop a refrigerator, took it and fired it in the direction of his brother, Eian Santiago, hitting him in the head, police said.

Santiago, a manager at a Papa Ray’s Pizza restaurant, was at work and his girlfriend, the victim’s mother, was with her 1-year-old child getting milk from a store. Hector Salgado was at the home and heard the gunshot, authorities said.

Tragic. Heard about this one. Gun on top of the fridge. What the fuck was he thinking?

Tragic. Heard about this one. Gun on top of the fridge. What the fuck was he thinking?

From the article:

Michael Santiago told police he was a former member of the Spanish Cobras gang and that he had bought the gun from another gang member for protection after Santiago was a witness in a murder trial.

“The gun was purchased off the street. It was kept loaded, and it was wrapped in pajama pants on top of the refrigerator,” Assistant State’s Attorney Joseph DiBella said. “The defendant previously showed the 6-year-old where the gun was kept, and in a videotape statement the defendant said he kept the gun for protection because he was a former gang member who snitched on a gang member in a murder trial.

“About a week prior to the shooting, he showed his older son where he kept the gun. … (Santiago) took the gun from on top of the refrigerator, unwrapped the pajama pants and explained to the 6-year-old that the gun was only to be used by adults,” DiBella said.

DiBella said Santiago put the firearm back on top of the refrigerator. Court records show the gun was a .32-caliber Smith & Wesson revolver. Authorities said Santiago does not have a firearm owner’s identification card or concealed carry license.

Critical points: The gun in question was not legally owned and Michael Santiago had not had any training on it, which would have explained to him what “safe storage” means.

Result: Another fucked up gang-related death in a city that has seen too many of them.

Doesn’t answer why he thought it was a good idea to put it on top of the fridge. I also don’t’ give a shit about the legality of the gun.Makes no difference with the little boy being dead. There’s too many damn cases like these regardless of the gun’s legality.

The legality of the gun and the method by which it was acquired do matter, because a death like this one causes some people to push for new laws regarding guns. And to find out if a proposed new law is viable or wise, one needs to examine the sort of incident it is designed to prevent and then see if it would have prevented said incident.

Yes, that’s kind of my point, too. The way the illegal/legal issue is framed by guns-rights folks makes it seem as if there are underground workshops turning weapons out for gangsters and other criminals. It’s a dodge meant to stop efforts to truly make guns hard to obtain.

Yep. They also love to point out that gun crime is prevalent in states like New York and Illinois that have stricter gun laws than say my state of Virginia but it ignores that those criminals are buying the guns legally in a state like Virginia. And that’s not mentioning that the deep South which has lax gun laws has some of the highest rates of gun related violence in the country. You’re right. It ain’t nothing btu a dodge. Plus it’s not like our states are so massive where you can’t go from one to another. I could get in a car and be in New York for a late lunch if I left right now.

On a per capita basis (crimes per 100k or fatalities per 100k), it’s clearly safer to live in NY than in VA (or most of the Southern or West Coast states).

If you drill down by county, you’d see something similar, but the state rates show that state-level firearms laws do play a role. Gun running between states with lax laws and those with stronger laws affects outcomes as well. So, while IL and Chicago have stronger laws, neighboring states and those down into the Deep South have lax laws, which means guns are run up to Chicago. Similarly, NYC metro sees lots of guns sourced from VA, the Carolinas, and Alabama.

NYC is far safer than most other places in the country, though there are pockets where crime is far higher than state or even city averages.

Well with a city so large, there’s bound to be extreme points one way or another. But to go from 2000 homicides to 350 in a bad year is quite impressive especially considering the city’s growth in that time.

That does seem a good point and I think Cruz knows that too which is why Cruz hasn’t condemned any of Donald’s fucked up attacks. Honestly, I think Donald’s one on W has been the most mild. I get that Jeb is defending his brother and having two brothers myself, I understand fraternal dynamics quite well- I one time pulled off a kid that shoved my younger brother on a waterslide and I always defended him when he got called a troublemaker in school but this was a terrorist attack and Jeb knows full well that he himself would not be so charitable if the attacks had happened on a Democrat or even another Republican’s watch. Going “my brother kept us safe” when Trump can point to 3000 dead Americans just makes him look like a hack. It will win him points though at the next Bush family reunion I guess but with voters, I don’t know. As I got at, I don’t blame W for 9/11 but I find Jeb’s just saying “My brother kept us safe” to be a really lame ass defense.

Newly licensed concealed carrier shoots own leg in Kansas theater

Police in Salina, Kansas are investigating an accidental shooting in a movie theater that took place when a newly licensed gun carrier shot himself in the leg.

According to KWCH Channel 12, the gun went off about 45 minutes into a Friday night feature at Salina’s Central Mall theater.

[…]

Kansas’ concealed carry laws changed July 1, making it legal for citizens with permits to carry guns anywhere they like.

Once again the NRA cultists/ammosexuals are debunked: More armed people is not a safer society. It’s a society where untrained people who have no business carrying around firearms are a danger to themselves and others.

That’s what I was getting at earlier. These incidents- thankfully this guy wasn’t killed often than not involve “responsible gun owners” who are not breaking any law. I really don’t get why you feel the need for a concealed weapon in a movie theater of all places. A movie theater is already cramped as is. That’s why even without the pressure why I oppose guns on planes. I know how big a pain in the neck it is to get my kindle or my iPod out of my carry on so why a gun would be better astounds me.

This is mesmerizing - the debt clock. It incorporates not only the national debt, but annual deficits (which you’ll notice are actually declining - running backwards).

But those who think deficits matter hold Obama responsible for all debts, even those that existed before he took office. The first budget for which he was responsible was the 2009-2010 budget year (Oct 1 - September 30). That happened to coincide with trying to get out of the recession.

treasurydirect.gov

He really doesn’t have a choice but to defend his brother. Jeb has benefited immensely politically based on the family name but it’s a double edged sword. That name has 12 years of presidential legacy connected to it, 8 of them under his brother that were (let’s be kind here) not very good years.

If he doesn’t defend his brother, he runs the risk of alienating all those people who have supported and worked with the family throughout the decades of the family’s political careers, across many states and every level of government (plus, of course, making Christmas get-togethers really uncomfortable).

If he does defend his brother, well, the attacks write themselves.

This was actually a pretty shrewd move by Trump. I wonder if it was an accident…

I don’t know if Federalist Papers is just the website name or that site is claiming it’s from the Federalist Papers but there’s no way Washington said that if they’re using the FP as a citation. Washington didn’t write the FPs. Alexander Hamilton, John Jay, and James Madison did. Furthermore Washington was writing in a time before assault rifles and a time with a much more agrarian based population. And I highly doubt he wanted people to hoard guns and would oppose any regulation like background checks. I’m not a constitutional expert by any means but I always assumed the original purpose of the 2nd amendment was to prevent loyalists from getting control of government and passing laws that would prevent the USA from defending itself against foreign aggression, thus enabling the UK to bring it back into the Empire.

Yeah the url confused me. I see now that it’s from GW’s first inaugural address. Shrug, in any case, I really think it’s a mistake to view guns from a 1789 perspective rather than a 2015 when looking at the law. That’s not to say I want to abolish the 2nd but I do think just because you have the right to own a weapon doesn’t mean that things like background checks, the forbidding of certain arms, etc isn’t legal.

That’s certainly a plausible explanation. We know that the founders were definitely worried about such a thing happening and that it wouldn’t have been unheard of since the British didn’t exactly give up.

On January 25, 1787, Daniel Shays and his insurrectionists confronted a Massachusetts state militia force outside the Springfield armory. Shays’ Rebellion had begun in the summer of 1786, when Shays, a former Continental Army captain, and other western Massachusetts veterans and farmers formed an insurrection against the government for failing to address their economic grievances. Upon the confrontation at the Springfield armory, the state militia forced Shays and his followers to retreat to Worcester County, where they would be dispersed on February 4, leading to the end of the rebellion.

On February 3, George Washington wrote to Henry Knox, conveying his thoughts on both the recent rebellion in Massachusetts and the Philadelphia Convention. Of Shays’ Rebellion, Washington wrote, “if three years ago any person had told me that at this day, I should see such a formidable rebellion against the laws & constitutions of our own making as now appears I should have thought him a bedlamite - a fit subject for a mad house.” He wrote that if the government “shrinks, or is unable to enforce its laws … anarchy & confusion must prevail.”

Shay’s Rebellion and the later Whiskey one turned “small government” Sam Adams into an ardent federalist. Patrick Henry too in the case of the Whiskey one since when Shays happened, he was still an anti-federalist.

Yeah you’re right. I just don’t know if I personally could go that bridge but you do illustrate one of my problems with it, the language and ambiguity of the amendment itself. A lot of them didn’t see Catholics or non-landowning whites as equals either. To be honest, they were elitists. What to do about Joe Biden?

I don’t know about others, but I am growing a bit tired of all the will he or won’t he run crap. Truthfully, I thought Joe was above all this and would be very concise about it. Yes. No.

Is he getting off on all the attention, or is he really having a hard time figuring out what he wants to do? Does it appear to be waffling which is never a good trait for a politician?

You’re bumming me out Joe. I do not get it. I like you a lot, but if you can’t be more positive of a real run by this time, it shows you may not be up to it, and we really do not need it to be this dramatic. I think it hurts the whole process for the Dems as it puts everything into a question and the news media makes more of it than it should and the Republicans can treat it like the Dems are confused and waiting for a reluctant hero.

How about a nice firm no this week? It may be best. If you have a yes, you have some explaining to do in my opinion.

That is a lie! Obama replaced McKinley with a picture of a mountain. //

As far as I know the conservatives are just asking him to run congress the way congress ought to be run.
What’s wrong with that? Unless he’s being directed by the lobbyists to continue to run it the way Boehner did.

This is going well…McConnell is still in power, Ryan may be the next speaker but doesn’t want to deal with conservatives, and Hilary is the odds-on favorite to be the next president.

I don’t think you can block those. But yeah grandkids or get out heh though I do enjoy my brother’s philosophical wavings in between photos of my niece.

You know how Facebook will randomly popup stuff like YOU POSTED THIS EXACTLY 3 YEARS AGO TODAY, DO YOU WANT TO SHARE IT AGAIN! and I realize that I have been using FB to post pictures of pie & other baked goods.

My facebook is about as apolitical as it gets though. I had a post following the SSM decision but I was more subtle about it and I didn’t do the rainbow profile photo that some people did which there’s nothing wrong, I am just not a trendy guy. I also condemned that one woman on Fox a few years ago saying women in the military who get raped should know what they’re getting to because that particularly disgusted me. But usually I just post music, random rants, or photos.

re: #372 The Vicious Babushka

You can mute people on FB.

I typically mute whatever source they’re sharing unless they say something incredibly offensive and stupid. I had a friend from high school share something from that Steven Crowder douche. I blocked anything from Crowder’s feed and voila! Now I see photos of her kids in pee wee football and whatever else is going on in her life.

OTOH, I’m thisclose to blocking a holy roller guy I know who’s constantly posting the dumbest, most uninformed, religious fundie nonsense. Plus he’s a Cruz supporter. I should block him on principle.

You could be posting a lot worse things. Man though pie sounds good right now.

I have only had to block one person, and that was probably close to 10 years ago now. We went to law school together and she ended up in the conservative movement being an activist type. She was post two or three things and hour and I was just like “nope, not dealing with that” and I was at least slightly sympathetic to her point of view back then

Glittery angel gifs with soaring hyperbole and folksy wisdom?

Yes, those from at least three people. The worst offender constantly posted the sayings of Joel Osteen. Untethered from any Christian principles, it comes off as cynical legitimizing of self-absorption.

The constant political posters are the worst and most of the ones I see are from people I agree with. I also and it’s a small pet peeve but I really wish people would look at the date of the article they’re posting. I don’t school people on it. I did point it out once though and my friend was thankful for me doing so maybe I should do it more but I don’t want to be a pedantic jerk.

I post nothing political on my facebook. I skip the political stuff posted there. Most of my family and friends don’t do the political thing on FB, but a few do, and there are ways to mute/block some of the stuff coming through - if they’re sharing stuff from certain sites for example (or games, like Zynga, Words w/Friends, etc.).

Much less stressful that way.

God the games. Mafia Wars. People kept on trying to get me to join their “Mafia” when that was new.

I mostly enjoy FB for the photos and to see how my relatives’ children are growing though. Man that makes me sound like an old man. I just know I am going ot be watching my niece grow up on FB and Instagram since she and her parents moved across the country.

Steve Crowder advertises for a dwarf. He must think they are for rent or something.

The latest one is about how Obama could learn something from China because they just executed a bunch of Islamist terrorists.

Say this to the man who took out Osama Bin Laden…

That is what FB is good for. I tend to unfriend people who get too political.

Too bad he didn’t bash his head into the wall. Concussions are more pitiable than wrists.

MRI’s would show there was nothing in there, also, too.

And if he’d claimed a blown eye socket, SMOTI had the file photo all ready to go!

He wrote that if the government “shrinks, or is unable to enforce its laws … anarchy & confusion must prevail.”

So, Founding Father Numero Uno was opposed to shrinking the government. I expect all RWNJ’s will now change their tune once this is pointed out to them.

Why yes, I am interested in hearing about a bridge you have for sale!

I play one of the Candy Crush games on my phone, but I take great pains not to send game invites or anything unless the person I’m sending them to also plays the same game and they send me things first.

Carson is probably proud of the fact taht he doesn’t knwo the difference btween Shia and Sunni assuming he doesn’t which given his other statements wouldn’t shock me.

At this point, the Clinton Guy looked as though he were conversing with a llama from Mars. Dr. Carson did not appear to notice.
