Video: VP Biden Announces He Won’t Run for President

After Fox News announced yesterday that Vice President Joe Biden would be running for President in 2016, it should be no surprise that today Biden bailed out of the race.

This is a good thing; if Biden had decided to go for it, he would not have been able to win but he would definitely have been a “splitter,” damaging the viable candidates’ chances. So I commend the Vice President on a sensible, correct decision.

I wish I cold vote for him but this is the right decision not only for the Democratic Party but for the country and Joe’s family too. Enjoy your retirement with your family in a couple years, your service to your country won’t be forgotten especially your pushing of the Americans with Disabilities Act.

I’m shaking my head over some of the progressives on twitter who are sooooo disappointed that, in his announcement, Biden “disrespected” Obama.

I’m guessing that I watched a completely different Biden announcement.

I hate some of our fellow lefties at times. Well hate’s a strong word but I do get greatly annoyed. No one here though so that’s not a call out but that left element that has some of the same traits of the TP in how they expect policy to occur.

I just don’t think his heart would even be in it if he tried to run. Dude still has some baggage he’s been sorting through, and you can tell in his appearances.

Let Joe be Joe.

Of course, now that Biden is officially not running, the pundits will pore over every poll and try to determine who benefits by the VP not running because they don’t have anything better to do than to try and find some kind of narrative to fill the time as the Democrats really don’t have the “drama” that the GOP does with 10 candidates too many running (and running with 5 points or less at that).

I think the media will decide he’s just delaying his announcement and will continue to include him in polls.

Here’s what they’ll say: “Biden was the only Democrat willing to work with Republicans. If he’d run, he would have brought the Democrats back toward the center, and we could have worked with the nominee if that person became president. Not now, though. We might as well start impeachment now.”

It’s too bad though that Biden’s not running because I honestly believe he’ll go down as one of the best men and women from this political generation not to be elected president. Joe’s got a real genuine warmth to him combined with extensive knowledge on a variety of issues. No one will call Joe Biden an intellectual but he’s a smart guy who not only understands issues but people too. One of the best decisions Obama made was making him his running mate. If something god forbid was to happen to Obama, the country would be in safe hands. That’s the total opposite of what you could say about McCain and his pick but I won’t dwell on that since we’ve had this conversation before but Biden has been a uge plus.

And that supports my theory that Biden left his name out there to create enough interest and fund-raising opportunities so that, if something happens to Hillary, he can jump in and not be coming out of left field.

As involved as Joe has been in foreign policy, I just think he and Hillary have become pretty close, and I just didn’t think he’d go head to head against her.

Chuck Johnson posted one of the Planned Parenthood videos he says were leaked to him by Congressional staffers - he calls it “explosive.”

Sure, it’s explosive, like a damp firecracker. The video shows a PP representative saying that if one of their affiliates tries to use tissue donations to increase their revenue, PP can’t stop them.

That’s right, the “explosive” news is that if someone else, not Planned Parenthood, tries to profit from tissue donations they can probably do that.

No matter how he tries to hype this, it’s a total nothingburger. And I notice not even Chuck is trying to push it very much; he realizes it’s bullshit.

It was amazing to see the story in the NYTimes today about how much the GOP base hates their “establishment” leaders. The constant drumbeat of poison from Fox, Rush, et al., has made them despise everything about government and anyone associated with it.

Not sure how this is going to play out in the general election, but if they get their way in the primary, they are going to nominate a person so odious that the Democrats could run a chia pet and waltz to victory. On the national level.

The focus has to be a 50-state strategy to take back the statehouses, governorships and the House. Even if we don’t get it in 2016, it’ll set the stage for 2020, after the next census, to have the Democrats redraw districts so as to give voters a chance to pick their reps, rather than the reverse…

They know that chaos will occur when the government fails. They believe they will thrive in that chaos because they are so ‘strong’ what with their guns and the ideology that allows them to use those guns indiscriminately.

They vastly overestimate their abilities.

Ted Cruz #BillKristoled there too. Iran had nuclear material it processed itself. The Iranians began processing uranium during the Bush administration, and continued throughout the Obama administration. It’s not like Obama handed them anything - and the physics of nuclear weapons are well understood, even if making it happen aren’t easy because of the technical and chemical natures of the elements involved.

Drive-by comment - I don’t know much about how the Canadian government works, so I went looking for info last night. Found this site called J.J.’s Complete Guide to Canada. The owner of the site says he writes all the content (Note: he’s a conservative and has recently written an article for The Federalist, but he says he’s tried to make the guide “as unbiased as possible”.)

Anyway, the site has a section on the government of Canada that explains things very clearly. Leaving the list of what it covers here in case anyone else wants to take a look:

The Government of Canada

• The Constitution
• The Parliamentary System
• The House of Commons
• The Senate
• The Monarchy
• The Governor General
• The Prime Minister
• Political Parties
• Canadian Elections
• Bureaucracy
• The Legal System

True, they do, but this was hilarious.

Phoebe Sweet, communications director for the Nevada State Democratic Party, and a few of her barnyard friends who shall remain nameless stopped by Lowden’s campaign headquarters.

“I tried to trade this goat for some health care, and my doctor looked at me like I’m crazy,” Sweet told a receptionist as she carried the 25-pound goat into the headquarters with a local TV crew tracking her. “So I was just curious if you had any information on her barter plan.”

“No, thank you,” the unidentified receptionist said politely.

Florida Tea Partiers planned to set up a secret vigilante court to arrest — and possibly execute — Obama

A Florida county is considering changes to its charter review board after two elected members have focused on punishing political enemies through extralegal tactics instead of government business.

The pair have voted to establish a “people’s common law grand jury,” which sovereign citizens and other anti-government extremists have proposed to investigate and prosecute government officials for treason — which, as they frequently point out, carries a potential death penalty.

[…]

“Take a look at the French Revolution and what took place there,” said Mike Bolam, who has attended charter review board meetings to support the common law grand juries.

The board voted 4-4 in May to study a proposal by Rodger Dowdell, a Tea Party activist who denies being a sovereign citizen but, nonetheless, spouts sovereign citizen rhetoric.

“Grand jury powers come from God,”
Dowdell said, advocating a return to the post-Revolution legal system where there were no police departments and judges rode horseback to hear cases brought by groups of 25 citizens

Well this is heartening:

The sheriff said he has not arrested anyone in connection with those indictments.

Because, really, why would we arrest these assholes:

However, just about 200 miles north, sovereign citizens are threatening to arrest or physically harm elected officials in Dixie County, Florida — where a Tea Party activist was arrested after trying to turn a legitimate jury into a common law grand jury.

“I’m getting harassing emails and threatening faxes saying they’re going to arrest me,” said Dana Johnson, the clerk of courts, told the Herald-Tribune. “This one says they want info on bonds and oaths. There are further demands. I’m concerned about my safety. The local sheriff has alerted (the Florida Department of Law Enforcement) and the FBI. Anytime they come up on our public agenda we have security with us at all times.”

re: #116 Charles Johnson

Our alleged human-toad hybrid is trying hard to unskew this poll of VP Biden.

I disagree that Biden would have split anything in the primary, however. The echanics are different from the the general election. He would likely compete mainly with Hillary for votes until the convention itself, in which case the result would remain contested until the convention made a decision. But this would not have granted anyone else (Bernie Sanders) a default victory. It only prevents anyone from coasting in free.

Consider Trump’s problem right now. By sharing votes equally with Ben Carson he will find it difficult to coast into the convention with a majority, and if the delegates gt to wheel and deal Trump hasn’t a chance. But in either case there will be one winner from each convention.

Most importantly, he told the Herald-Tribune, those rulings would be kept out of reach of presidential and even U.S. Supreme Court authority.

“A people’s common law grand jury can, without any probable cause, go into any nook or cranny of government — local, state or federal — research anything that’s going on and root out corruption,” Dowdell said. “We want to government to recognize the contract we call the constitution, and start obeying the law. It’s very simple.”

His proposal failed due to the tie vote.

Interesting fact? Grand jury indictment isn’t required for most crimes in Florida, some states don’t have it at all, and the Supreme Court has never found a national right to grand jury indictment.

Funny. In the last week we’ve driven the length of Dixie and Manatee counties twice—on our way up and down 19/98 to Tampa. They have good BBQ, which makes me wonder if BBQ correlates positively with nutjob.

Best BBQ in Tucson was at Ray LeMay’s, the brother of Curtis LeMay, retired US Air Force SAC general and George Wallace’s 1968 running mate.

That’s a data point. Might be a good thing to devote one’s life to proving the BBQ Connection. It sure works around here, where the best chopping is done by guys on an abusive work-release program.

I do not understand how it even statistically possible for Kristol to be so wrong all the time.

You would have to be a very wealthy sociopathic nihilist to give X to kids. Mostly because, I’ve heard (allegedly) that shit is expensive

You would be surprised how often someone charged with drug possession will say, “These aren’t my pants and the drugs aren’t mine!” The courts in Virginia gave a really sarcastic treatment to that saying something to the effect of, “We do not believe that given the price of drugs, that someone would abandon property in pants given to someone else.”

Sovereign citizens and teabaggers have much common ground. One of them is wasting gobs of tax money and gov. officials time.

A neighbour once did drop an unopened Budweiser in my 8 yr old’s sack. He was really blitzed and ran out of candy corn.

Wonder what an ecstasy pill goes for on the street? $20 - $30 a pop? Someone sure has a lot of money to throw away. Makes even Margret’s full size snickers seem frugal.

Very good, responsible decision. Dems must be unified. Also, I didn’t see Biden as a President.

Good for Joe. Now he can drive his Trans-Vette or whatever it is. They don’t let Presidents drive.
