Jim Hoft, Dumbest Man on the Internet, Goes Benghazi Crazy

Endlessly recycling lies
Wingnuts • Views: 62,569

I tweeted this comment about the Benghazi hearing a few minutes ago:

And here’s a great example of the right wing audience this clown show is aimed at: Jim Hoft, Stupidest Man on the Internet, who’s posted no less than five crazed rants about this hearing, full of random capitalization and bizarre hyperbolic language.

FIREWORKS!… CHAOS EMERGES as Trey Gowdy OWNS Democrat Cummings at Benghazi Hearings (VIDEO) - the Gateway Pundit
BOOM! Rep. Jim Jordan NAILS HILLARY CLINTON on BENGHAZI LIES With New Email Evidence! (VIDEO) - the Gateway Pundit

HILLARY TESTIFIES: Chairman Gowdy Rips Democrats in Opening Statement (VIDEO) - the Gateway Pundit
THEY LIED! Obama Admin Tried to Tie Benghazi Attack to PASTOR’S VIDEO Before They Settled on 2nd VIDEO - the Gateway Pundit

Hoft also recycles another old lie about the Benghazi attack, because right wing lies never die.

The lifeless body of Ambassador Stevens was later dragged from the Benghazi US consulate after it came under attack by Muslim extremists on September 11, 2012.

This is completely false; the photo Hoft includes with his lie actually shows Libyan rescuers rushing Stevens to the hospital.

But at least Hoft didn’t try to repeat another even more vile false claim he circulated two days after the attack: Horror!… Lebanese Reports: US Ambassador Raped Before His Murder - the Gateway Pundit.

And while I’m on the subject of Jim Hoft, I should also mention that a few days ago he actually tweeted a link to an outright white supremacist website, American Renaissance.

UPDATE at 10/22/15 12:16:18 pm by Charles Johnson

And he’s still at it, folks, posting two more crazed rants so far, bringing the one-day total to seven:

Benghazi Victim’s Uncle on Hillary Clinton: “At Least We Know She Tells HER Family the Truth” (Video) - the Gateway Pundit

UPDATE at 10/22/15 1:19:25 pm by Charles Johnson

If you want to get your facts/fiction straight, pretty much look at SMOTI and consider the opposite to be true. Time and again he pushes BS and debunked nonsense.

Oh, and like a certain other right wing goon (hiya Chucky!) he also never retracts or corrects himself.

And Chucky’s Gawker suit countdown clock is slowly winding down to zero. Again.

Hoft is a racist who links to white supremacists and he has credibility on the Right as his blog is frequently cited by other wingnuts, so its important to keep pointing out that he is a lying racist.

Maybe OT, but remember (all the way back to yesterday) the wingnuts who were positive the Swedish school-stabber just had to be a Muslim “immigrant” going after white schoolkids? Ummm, turns out it seems to be the other way round

So I guess this is just going to die in the wingnuttosphere: besides, they’ll all be too busy masturbating in glee celebrating the “destruction” of Hillary Clinton in the Benghazi hearing….

Hoft is very influential on the right. He gets linked at Drudge Report, his site is listed in Google News, and his bogus trash often makes it all the way to Fox News. It’s a bad idea to ignore people like this, no matter how dim-witted they are.

Yes. His site is all too frequently picked up by Drudge, other right wing sites, and parrots the right wing argle-bargle. If stuff starts with him (see fracture, blowout), it’ll likely make its way into mainstream sites too.

Carson has been calling upon the Father, Son and Holy Ghost to support his candidacy, which is going to have a lot of resonance with the Holy Rollers in the Midwest, who see Trump as a man whose fortunes rest on gambling, drinking and whoremongering.

A perfect recap of the Clinton/Roby exchange:

Rep. Roby read ALL the Clinton emails, in between the planning meeting for the Spring Formal and going to see Hunter at the ATO house, and she knows there was this one person who said this one time to this other person that Hillz didn’t even KNOW we had a presence in Benghazi, and like, Caitlin, how is Hillary ever going to be a Kappa if she doesn’t know we are in Benghazi? It’s kind of a thing, Hillary.

To which Hillary replied, “WHO ARE YOU AND HOW THE FUCK DID YOU GET ELECTED TO CONGRESS, YOU TWIT?”

No, we are fooling, Hillary didn’t say that with her mouth. She said it with her eyes.

“Has Washington learned nothing from Whitewater?” asks National Memo editor-in-chief Joe Conason in Politico Friday. “The Clintons have spent their entire political lives in the capital dogged by one fake scandal after another. Although the charges are new, the villain of these manufactured scandals remains former Clinton aide Sidney Blumenthal, who has been newly written “into a sinister narrative of Libyan intrigue, encouraging dark suspicions about his work for the Clinton Foundation.”

Conason writes: Having known Sid for nearly 40 years, I feel confident predicting that Rep. Trey Gowdy (R-SC), the committee chair, will find nothing to substantiate the fantasies marketed by his staff to the Times, which set the stage for Blumenthal’s subpoena and deposition in a political show trial that will unfold sometime in the coming weeks. Sid passed along information that he thought might be useful to his friend, the Secretary of State—someone he has known for nearly 30 years and with whom he worked closely in the Clinton administration.

This is what happens when a segment of the country is told over and over the Federal Govt is evil and the reason for all their problems. They have filled Congress with people who ran solely on gutting the government and restoring America to “good ole days”. I believe they know full well that the days of them winning national elections legitimately are over but have gone the route of keeping the base so outraged they vote in droves in local election so they can at least sabotage any progress. The left seems to only want to vote in Presidential election and as long as that stays the same so does this shit show called Congress.

“If you think you heard a lot about Sidney Blumenthal this morning,” Gowdy threatened, as he gaveled a recess, “wait until our next session.” And then he swept his cape around himself and disappeared into a large black cauldron. I made that last part up.

If it wasn’t Congressman Jim Jordan finally getting around to Susan Rice and the talking-points and the offense against the Constitution inherent in getting something wrong on Meet The Press—which is the only reason we aren’t presently enjoying the leadership of President Romney—then it was Congressman Mike Pompeo, fresh off getting dope-slapped by Andrea Mitchell on that very show last Sunday, intimating that American diplomats were meeting with al Qaeda operatives prior to the attacks on the compound in Benghazi on September 11, 2012. And that is not even to mention the efforts of Congresswomen Susan Brooks and Martha Roby, back-to-back, who didn’t seem to wholly understand how you cannot judge a level of interest in something based on the aggregate number of e-mails that are written about it by various people. And then there was Congressman Lynn Westmoreland of Georgia, who said, “In mah l’il opinion,” security wasn’t that good around the Benghazi compound.

No, he really said that.

They’re also trying to paint a picture of Blumenthal having access to Clinton that Stevens didn’t have - hence the questions about Stevens having Hillary’s cell number, home address, etc.

Trying to establish a new narrative - that the Sec of State didn’t give a fuck. Hillary is refuting it nicely, though.

Congressional hearings are never about real investigations (at least anymore.)

It’s all about hearing an elected somebody make their soundbites for their future campaign ads.

The only hearings the give a shit about is their own voices and the resulting sound bytes that will result from their bloviating.

WhatEVs  Oct 22, 2015 • 1:15:28pm

Uhm…what? This is some weapons grade derp.

The news cycle that will follow Hillary Clinton’s appearance on Capitol Hill is entirely predictable.

Instead of getting any closer to the truths about Benghazi or Clinton’s homebrew spy-friendly email system or the obvious conflicts of interest with the Clinton Foundation, we’ll be treated to tiresome and politically ineffective theater from the Clinton cheer squad and hapless Republicans who don’t understand Hillary Rules.

The coming wave of conventional-wisdom stories reflects the GOP’s many mistakes. And her inevitable escape from legal and political jeopardy will have been aided and abetted by Capitol Hill Republicans who wouldn’t know a media strategy if it bit them on their well-fed asses.

It’s not because Chairman Trey Gowdy hasn’t done yeoman’s work trying to build a careful, non-political case of the handling of Benghazi and in Clinton’s subsequent email scandal. It’s because members of Congress not directly involved in the process ran their mouths without a plan, without a message, and without the discipline that many of us begged them to exercise.

House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy and others got sloppy, and forgot there is no zone of latitude when it comes to Republicans vs. the Clintons. GOP members playing to either the right or left side of the bleachers gave the Clinton team the sword they needed to cut off all our heads, letting an already complicit media frame the hearings precisely as they desired.

They helped the Clinton team draw the Benghazi hearings into the most familiar battle lines in the minds of the Acela corridor’s chroniclers of Hillary. We’re in their most comfortable happy zone where Republicans are the bad, stupid party and Clinton is the embattled, beleaguered feminist icon.

Or, shorter…WAAAAAAAHHHHHHH! Those mean (and super smart) democrats and their media lapdogs! WAAAAAHHHHH! Christ.

LOL!

I missed part of that article when I first read it. Man, there is some amazing projection going on there. How did I miss this??

The stories are already written.

Because Republicans have so fundamentally botched the messaging on this matter (surprise!), tomorrow’s stories write themselves. I’ll lay perfectly good bitcoin that the coverage will include lines like these:

“After a day of highly politicized hearings that even Republicans admit are merely to harm Hillary Clinton’s presidential bid, the Democratic frontrunner emerged essentially unscathed.”

“Even after months of fruitless investigations, Capitol Hill Republicans continued their ugly attacks on Hillary Clinton… and Democrats sprang to her defense.”

“Sensing victory, Clinton allies on the panel and off pointed to frank admissions by Republicans that the panel’s sole purpose was to derail her suddenly blossoming presidential campaign.”

“Hillary Clinton took on her Republican persecutors in Congress today and emerged victorious, telling members of the panel to stop their political witch hunt against her.”

The press wants closure, and they’ll get it.

Short of an indictment (which from Obama’s Justice Department strikes this cynic as the remotest of possibilities) or some smoking-gun piece of evidence from the FBI’s efforts to recover the entire corpus of her emails from the servers, this hearing is the end of the line in the investigation.

Gowdy and the committee will still plug away, fighting a slow-rolling State Department and the Clinton family for every little nugget of subpoenaed and requested data, but this will largely be it for the media coverage. They want to get on with the coronation of 2016, and the coda of Clinton’s rough summer plays tomorrow.

Does any of this make Benghazi, or her email scandal, or the conflicts of interest, or her efforts to monetize the State Department for her extended entourage less important and consequential? Of course not.

Chucky would actually benefit if John misses the deadline; he’s got a better chance of recovering against Johnny’s legal eagles for providing negligent professional services (legal malpractice) missing deadlines and screwing over his clients - than he does of winning any of the motions/arguments he’s providing against Gawker.

Then again, considering that Chucky isn’t likely to succeed on the claims against Gawker in the first place, a legal malpractice suit would fail because you have to show not only that the legal malpractice occurred, but that the underlying action had reasonable chance of success.

Still, failing to file here might well cut Chucky’s legal bills. And that’s still a win for him.

Now they’re saying she’s too smart. Smarter than the guy they were so impressed with. They’re CONVINCED, despite the absence of any evidence, that Hillary must have done SOMETHING!!!, and the fact that they can’t find it doesn’t mean it doesn’t exist. It means she’s hidden it too well!!!

It reminds me of something from a 1970s BBC radio show, “I’m Sorry I’ll Read That Again”, where a stereotypically dim starlet is being interviewed:

Interviewer: “Do you enjoy working in the tragical medium?”

Starlet: “Oh, we’re just good friends!”

Interviewer:”I’m sorry, I’ll rephrase the question: Tragical you enjoy in do the medium working?”

This is exactly what I’ve been saying, Trump especially is the perfect far right candidate in that he allows them to have their cake and eat it too. He’s intentionally disposable, an option for a people who would like to pretend they want to govern without the risk of ever actually having to be responsible for anything. Viewed this way his past liberal positions and inconsistency are a feature, not a bug. They can’t conveniently forget them while he’s running but when he eventually loses they can suddenly disavow him and in a perpetual strategy of denial say the party needs to run a true believer.

But let’s indulge Bartlett’s hypothesis. Say Donald Trump wins the nomination and then loses badly to the Democratic nominee. Conservative Republicans can interpret this loss in two ways. On the one hand, they can say, as Bartlett hopes, that Trump lost because he’s too extreme, too unhinged in his views on immigration and women and practically everything else. On the other hand, they can say that Trump lost because he wasn’t extreme enough, because he didn’t double down on whatever they think conservatism is. You can hear the refrain now: Trump used to be pro-choice. He’s anti-trade. He endorsed single-payer health care. He’s not Christian enough.

The same is true of a Carson loss. Sure, Carson is the latest darling of the conservative movement, but if he loses to Clinton or Sanders, conservatives will suddenly notice that he never really knew what he was talking about. Rather than accept that Carson lost on account of his extreme conservatism, they’ll look for ways to retroactively condemn him as a liberal. They’ll open up just enough space in their information bubble to acknowledge articles like this, which highlight the many liberal things Carson has said and written in the past. Although Carson parroted every conservative dogma you can imagine during this campaign, conservatives are unlikely to connect that to his loss, because that would be an indictment of conservatism as such.

Jordan did the same thing before him and Westmoreland before that.

It’s clear that their prime objective here was to establish a new set of talking points:

1. Hillary Clinton had all the time in the world for Sid Blumenthal, but Ambassador Stevens couldn’t even get her cell phone number.

2. Hillary Clinton was all about taking credit for success in Libya, and wanted nothing to do with things going wrong.

3. Hillary Clinton said one thing to other governments and her family, and something quite different to the American people.

And that’s it. That’s why they’re hammering the same points they hammered before lunch.

Losing the Senate and especially the House, or even having their majority in the House knocked back significantly (say, to 10 or less), would probably be enough to fracture the party. The money men then rebuild the party as they see fit, the Teahadi form their own third party that likely goes the way of Wallace’s AIP, and the Republicans are fit to rejoin civilized society in around 2024.

Those would have to be awesome powers indeed to disavow Ted Cruz as not a truuuu conservative. He is the guy they have been worshipping ever since he forced a gov’t shutdown to defund Obamacare. He’s the guy who calls Mitch McConnell a liar on the Senate Floor, described John Boehner as the most effective Democratic Speaker of the House in 50 years, and won’t say that Paul Atlas Shrugged Ryan is a true conservative. The state sold an oceanfront home, car and other possessions owned by a Maine man after he was placed in a mental hospital.

Officials even ordered his cat euthanized, and the man’s family said the state still can’t account for much of his personal property, reported the Bangor Daily News.

William Dean has Asperger’s syndrome, which creates difficulty in his social interactions, and he also suffers from other mental health issues that resulted in a crisis that forced his admission to the state-run Dorothea Dix Psychiatric Center in May 2012, after his mother’s death.

snip

State officials sold the longtime Owls Head estate earlier this year for $205,000 — less than half its assessed value — to pay off back taxes despite efforts by relatives to keep the property in the family. In fact, court records show the state moved up the sale date by one day after Dean’s relatives learned about it and threatened to file a court injunction to block the sale, the newspaper reported.

and it just gets worse.

Still the wrong answer.

But you can choose one of 7 8 games involving knives on ice!

I have an NHL game on Wednesday, but should look at what the AHL schedule is looking like and see about getting tickets.

There’s this weird game called handegg starting in about an hour, between Seattle and San Francisco.

I’m watching the final Knicks pre-season game vs. Boston.

Conversation overheard at Missouri branch of “I Can’t Believe It’s a Law Firm”

Chuck: So I got served with a TRO about those PP videos by a process server today.

Lawyer Guy: Really?

Chuck: Yeah, I ripped it up and posted the videos at WEEV. That’ll show them. They don’t know who their messing with. You said I had a constitutional right right.

Lawyer Guy: YOU DID FUCKING WHAT!!! I didn’t tell you to do that, what are you out of your mind? Are you trying to do get me disbarred? I”M GONNA KILL YOU CHUCK. I wish I never met you. First, help me take a chain saw to this brief, we have to cut it down to 15 pages by midnight.

She gets super bonus points from me. I have never been wild about her but was always willing to support her should she win the nomination. Now I’m ready to start knocking on doors on her behalf.

Planned Parenthood isn’t suing. It’s the company that uses the tissue donations that got the injunction.
