In Which James O’Keefe Wears a “Constitution” Costume, Complete With Mickey Mouse Gloves and Clown Shoes

The idiocy. It burns.

The right wing fever swamps are all abuzz with outrage today over fraudster James O’Keefe’s latest moronic stunt. This time the intrepid nincompoop dressed up as “The Constitution” and sprang out at unsuspecting Vassar students, trying to give them copies of what he obviously thinks of as a sacred talisman that must never be harmed.

O’Keefe sent one of his “undercover operatives” (mislabeled as a “journalist” in the video) into a counselor’s office, complaining that the constitution was a “trigger” for her.

“It’s just I’ve been kind of hiding out in my room ever since kind of scared, so, finally somebody told me I should maybe come talk to you about it and see if there’s anything that can happen or anything … They were handing the Constitution out on campus,” the reporter says.

“They were handing it out and as soon as I saw it you know I started to not be able to breathe, hyperventilating … vision went blurry and I just kind of just lost control.”

At that point the counselor obviously realized there was something not right about this person, possibly thinking she might be mentally disturbed. So she offers to shred the “journalist’s” copy of the constitution, to get this kook out of her office.

This is where all the wingnuts went cuckoo for cocoa puffs. OH MY GOD SHE SHREDDED THE HOLY CONSTITUTION OF AMURICA!!!! OUTRAGE!!!! You can see this bizarre freak-out all over the usual right wing sites today.

Sane people look at an asinine stunt like this and think, “So what?” But the conservative echo chamber doesn’t fall into that category.

Yes, that’s O’Keefe in the picture above. He completed his constitution costume with a tricorne hat, Mickey Mouse gloves and big red clown shoes. But for some reason they don’t see this as disrespectful.

Do James’ parents ever sit him and down and say “You’re really bringing shame to our family name, son” but then again I imagine his parents probably encourage his bullshit.

Answer to re: #155 lawhawk from downstairs

What do parents do when their kids who aren’t old enough to go to the bathroom on their own supposed to do? Oh wait, take their kid (even if they’re not the same gender as their parent) into the bathroom. So, if a guy’s out with his daughter, the guy either has to find a family room, or take his daughter into the men’s room and use *gasp* a stall.

For a woman taking her son’s out, it’s the same story - into a woman’s room stall.

This is as it has been done with no actual complaint for decades, until people realized that it might be easier for both to provide a family room since there’d be more room to deal with things like strollers, bags, etc., especially when out shopping.

The right wing makes this out to be some kind of crazy.

The answer is, it’s not that men and women will be in the same stall as opposite sex children, it’s that, in RWNJ’s minds, all homosexual and transgender people are sexual deviants.

O’Keefe must be giving a costume shop some serious business, since that seems to be his chief accomplishment these days - dressing up as someone to get caught on video doing something stupid.

Pretty much. The only possible end game for gay or trans people to do anything apparently is gigantic pagan rape parties featuring human sacrifice.

They’re simply not seen as actually human by most of these fuckers. They’re mythical boogeymen the same way the inhuman monstrous Black Criminal Thug. It doesn’t matter what corresponds to actual reality when enough people vote on the fantasy.

Old enough and tall enough to be. It’s no accident they went to historically women’s colleges first, sent a woman in to see other women. (IMHO, women generally try to accommodate the crazy who are paying clients.) Also chose feminists to send their stooge to. Then allude that they might try ‘Ivy League’ colleges next!

I taught high school social studies in an alleged conservative district in GA. I would pass out small book-bound copies of the constitution to my students each year and discard the extra copies. I guess I was lucky that none of the nutters in the community knew that I did because if they had, they probably would have called for me to be fired on the spot since in their minds, small copies of the constitution are the same as the original copy stored at the National Archives.

And in the meantime, we get things like his claim that the student victim of the assault in …drawing a blank on the city name here, but the video one with the desk… was in foster care (correct) but he had also “confirmed” that her mother had recently died …which he had to walk back within 24 hours.

That’s sloppy journalism, and this is from someone who is being held up by some on the left as the go-to person on the topic of police brutality. It does not do anything to help his credibility and yet a lot of people are willing to just give him a pass, it feels like. Which frustrates me. BUFFALO, N.Y.-U.S. Attorney William J. Hochul Jr. announced today that Kirk Canfield, 54, of Wilson, NY, who was convicted of a violation of violation of the Bald and Gold Eagle Protection Act, was sentenced to six months probation and a $1,000 criminal fine by U.S. Magistrate Judge Hugh B. Scott. The defendant was also ordered to pay $3,000 in restitution to the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation, Bald Eagle Program.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Aaron J. Mango, who handled the case, stated that the defendant operated a produce farm in the Town of Wilson. In August 2014, Canfield placed a meat pile that had been mixed with Golden Malrin fly bait at the edge of a cornfield on his farm in an attempt to kill coyotes. The fly bait contained Methomyl, which is an insecticide that is not to be used in a manner in which animals can eat it.

Three juvenile bald eagles died after eating the contaminated meat pile, and on August 22, 2014, the three dead bald eagles were found and photographed in the immediate vicinity of the contaminated meat pile by an individual riding an ATV. Subsequently, Canfield removed the three dead bald eagles from the field and removed the contaminated meat pile. By placing the contaminated meat pile on his field, the defendant acted with wanton disregard for the consequences of his act.

Dublin declares War on Christmas, for reals

USING the ingenuity, anger and intimidation Dubliners are famous for, a group of intrepid capital city residents have opened the country’s very first ‘Don’t Fucking Mention Christmas Zone’ today.

“The idea is pretty simple,” explained head of security at the zone Seamus Clifford, “mention Christmas or wear a stupid Christmas jumper and we’ll box the head off ya and kick you out onto Dame Street or into the Liffey, obviously we’ll give you the choice first, we’re not monsters”.

You can do it with facts that you need to look up too, or any number of things. Just to keep the story moving without getting bogged down in the stuff that can be fixed in editing later.

This does not work for plot points, however.

Well, at least we’re not the only ones. From BBC Radio, August 2011:

A church of England former official Diocesan Exorcist, agrees that demonic activity in the UK is on the rise. An Anglican bishop believes “repeated choice of black, for example in clothing or colour of car” may be a sign (creative types everywhere who’re fond of black turtlenecks are sure to take offense). But it gets even better:

It’s a concern that goes across Christian denominations, from evangelical churches to the Roman Catholics. The chief exorcist of Rome has said: “you have to hunt high and low for a properly trained exorcist.” To meet the demand, various schools of exorcism have started. In Rome, a Catholic University runs a yearly course on exorcism. “For us it has been incredible,” says Father Caesar Truqui, who runs the course. “We have had phone calls from all over the world from people wanting to attend”.

The American Association of Exorcists runs a correspondence course, and one evangelical pastor based in Britain runs his own distance learning course using the internet. Most exorcists agree however, that there is no substitute for hands on mentoring with an experienced practitioner. […]

Article & audio (30 minutes) at: So You Want To Be an Exorcist

Exorcism correspondence courses? Srsly? Also, I had no idea that Rome had a chief exorcist. Oh look, he says Da’esh is Satan—they’ll love that.

I’ve gotta say I’m not inclined point & laugh at people in the third-world who believe things we find silly when we have our own weird stuff right smack in the middle of the “enlightened” modern West. O_o

Something our media has fostered for decades. re: #120 CuriousLurker

Exorcism correspondence courses? Srsly? Also, I had no idea that Rome had a chief exorcist. Oh look, he says Da’esh is Satan—they’ll love that.

I’ve gotta say I’m not inclined point & laugh at people in the third-world who believe things we find silly when we have our own weird stuff right smack in the middle of the “enlightened” modern West. O_o

Oh noes!!! And here I thought dressing in all black was an artist thing.

My “IT Job From Hell” lasted for 3 weeks, which was 1 week less than the background check I had to go through for govt clearance.

After I left I got calls from recruiters for that job for 6 weeks until I said NO FREAKING WAY AND STOP CALLING ME to every recruiter in SE Michigan and every other contracting agency who wanted to fill that position.

My nightmare job in IT was for an international business realtor. This was before personal computers were a thing. The local office’s computer was a Data General mini.

Only time I had my own office.

What I did not have was my own terminal. I was supposed to be in my office planning what I was going to do and then at night, when the data entry people had gone home, do my programming on one of their terminals.

I also could not get my own disk. I was supposed to do all my testing on live data.

So, basically, I spent three months sitting on my ass accomplishing nothing. I was canned at the end of the trial period.

Only good thing was that, being on the 31st floor, I had a wonderful view of a Canadian Warplane Heritage, plus associates, as they flew over downtown Toronto. Up until that point I didn’t even know there were any P38s still flying.
