Ben Carson: “If You Believe You Came From a Monkey That’s Fine; Listening to You I Think You’re Probably Right”

So very open-minded and objective

In this clip from an interview Ben Carson did in 2010, he launches into a garbled account of Darwin’s Galapagos Island finches, then says he’s objective and open-minded and has no problem with evolutionary theory or scientists — and follows it up with an insult: “If you want to believe you came from a monkey, that’s fine, and listening to you I think you’re probably right.”

So very objective and open-minded!

Dr. Carson is a Seventh Day Adventist (SDA) and therefore is most probably a Young Earth Creationist. SDAs demand a rigorous literal interpretation of the Bible, the 7th refers to the God resting on the 7th day of a week long creation.

Of course, this will simply fuel the RWNJs screams of “he’s only being persecuted because he’s a Christian”.

8 years, we’ve heard nothing but bitching about how the President “wasn’t vetted” and that there is so much about him that, “had we known,” would have convinced people to vote against him.

Now? Now, suddenly, what a black candidate did as a kid isn’t all that interesting. Oh wait, I forgot, IOKIYAR.

I removed my blockquote of you. And yeah. It’s definitely a derogatory term used by some of our more inflammatory members right around the time the anti-sharia brigade were just starting to get their panties in a wad. As was noted in a previous thread, what I’m waiting for at this point is what happens in a few months, when the primaries begin in earnest and first begin to get an idea of who the real GOP nominee will end up being. The increased scrutiny of the general election is gonna throw most of this craziness into the light. After all, what is the GOP going to fight back with? “Hillary is a liar!”? They’ve been saying that for 20+ years, and all it got them last week humiliation on live TV.

The establishment loves the votes that the fundies given them, but generally have tried to keep the fundie candidates isolated to backwoods communities where they could control them better or at least limit the damage done. Now they’ve got a fundie who is not only getting rave reviews from the base, but he’s running to be the guy at the top of the ticket. Yet another questionable police shooting

Initial story told was that City Marshals were attempting to serve warrant to Chris Few.
Few attempted to flee in his vehicle, chase ensued.
Stuck in a dead end, Few attempted to back out, ramming police car.
Marshals exited vehicle and fired on Few.
Jeremy Mardis, Few’s autistic six-year-old son, was discovered shot to death inside vehicle.

Links are arranged in close to chronological order

Six-year-old boy in Louisiana was likely fatally shot by police says coroner

Father of six-year-old boy killed during police chase was not armed, chief says

UPDATE: Stepfather says there were no warrants out on Few

State Police Commander Mike Edmonson said he’s not aware of any warrant that had been issued for the arrest of Chris Few.

The Clerk of Court for the City of Marksville said they had “nothing” on Few, and the Avoyelles Parish District Attorney’s Office said they had no pending warrants on Few, and that they had “never” had any warrants out on him.

Louisiana police concede officers fired shots that killed six-year-old boy

Police disavowed an earlier explanation for why officers shot at a car driven by Chris Few, killing his six-year-old son, Jeremy Madis, in Marksville

Few’s fiancee, Megan Dixon, said the entire tragedy started with a romantic dispute. Earlier on Tuesday night, she said, she and Few had bickered at TJ’s pool hall, and she had left with a friend named Sally. Few also left, and picked up his son at a relative’s house.

A short while later, Few pulled up next to Dixon at a stop light - Marksville is a small town - and tried to get her to come home with him. “I wouldn’t do it,” she said. “I’m stubborn.”

Moments later, she said, as the cars pulled away from the light, she saw two marshals’ cars - marked in black and white - approaching from behind with their lights flashing. She looked into Few’s car as he pulled away, and he was pointing at his son’s head, indicating that he was in the car and he wasn’t sure what to do.

Few was afraid of the marshals, she said, because he and and one of the marshals on the scene had a prior personal conflict.

EDIT-Forgot to add this quote from the above article, likely the most damning:

Orange spray paint marks the orientation of Few’s car and three patrol cars, at the intersection of Taensas Street and Martin Luther King Drive. The particular placement of the cars – and a spray of glass from the passenger’s side of Few’s car – seems to indicate Few was not backing toward the officers. His car was perpendicular to them, and the officers’ shots hit the driver’s side broadside.

Swanson also takes hardline Christian Reconstructionist positions, such as his view that the death penalty for gay people is just. Not even that. This guy was apparently dead serious about mentally and emotionally abusing his wife to enforce his will. The website’s author stopped short of endorsing physical abuse, but acknowledged that it was a viewpoint with some traction in the hardcore fundamentalist niche.

It’s for reals. I talked to some of my other Christian friends and they confirmed that they had, in fact, heard of such a thing. I went back to the original poster and he said one of his college professors told a story of a former student who forced his wife to crawl on her knees and beg for money to buy milk for their child.

So the original police description of the event was incorrect?

Shocka

Just edited my comment, forgot to include this:

Orange spray paint marks the orientation of Few’s car and three patrol cars, at the intersection of Taensas Street and Martin Luther King Drive. The particular placement of the cars - and a spray of glass from the passenger’s side of Few’s car - seems to indicate Few was not backing toward the officers. His car was perpendicular to them, and the officers’ shots hit the driver’s side broadside.

One of my more liberal Christian FB friends found a hardcore fundamentalist Christian website that talks about proper “biblical” gender roles. A sample of the content explains ways a husband can punish his wife if she refuses to have sex with him. In the course of reading through this website, I discovered that apparently there’s a thing called Christian Domestic Discipline that actually espouses a husband’s right and duty to beat his wife as punishment for disobeying him. What the actual fuck.

Is that the site associated with Bill Gothard, who is pals with the 19 and counting people?

Scott Walker cited shooting of Illinois cop to bash Obama

A police death linked by Gov. Scott Walker to President Barack Obama and anti-police rhetoric is now being described as a suicide and hoax rather than the shooting of a hero.

As the governor’s presidential campaign plummeted in September, Walker wrote a column for the conservative website Hot Air in which he decried the death of an Illinois police officer, Fox Lake police Lt. Charles Joseph Gliniewicz, and another officer in Texas.

Citing those deaths, the GOP governor said then that the Democratic president was a “divider-in-chief” who had failed to speak up for police and speak out about the “inflammatory and disgusting rhetoric” used by some critics of law enforcement.

“In the last six years under President Obama, we’ve seen a rise in anti-police rhetoric. Instead of hope and change, we’ve seen racial tensions worsen and a tendency to use law enforcement as a scapegoat,” Walker wrote.

Don’t know if this has been mentioned, but the large religious institution (that’d be the Mormon church) which dominates the Intermountain West came down with two edicts today.

1) Children of same sex marriages cannot be blessed (as babies) or baptized at age 8. They have to wait until they’re 18 and then swear that they’re against same-sex marriage.

kutv.com

2) The large religious institution has changed the definition of apostasy to include “being in a same-gender marriage.” The other items are a) acting in public opposition to church leaders b) teaching false doctrine after being told not to c)following apostate groups like polygamists and e) formally joining another church and advocating its teachings.

kutv.com

I can’t even begin to imagine the havoc this is going to wreak on families as grandparents discover the children of their same-sex married children can’t be blessed in church, and the church is now going to root out and excommunicate apostates who are in legal marriages.

This is also likely to provoke frosty relations between the Mormon church and Salt Lake City Hall, as the putative next mayor of SLC is Jackie Biskupski, a lesbian.

N.B. I’d also note that under point 2), there’s a bit about formally joining another church and advocating its teachings. A certain Marco Rubio joined the Mormon church as a teenager. Currently he splits his time between a Baptist church on Saturday night and Catholic mass on Sunday. I wonder if he’s still a member of the Mormon church, which doesn’t dump you until you turn 110, or if he quietly resigned?

God helps Ben Carson replace his secretary

“I had to address the problem of what to do about my current secretary, who, besides being incapable of doing the work, was an alcoholic. I had not told anyone else, but I knew that something had to change.

How do I handle this situation? The woman really needs help. My firing her might add one more disaster to her life. But I can’t have this kind of gross inefficiency, I thought. At the same time, I’m softhearted. I always feel sad when I have to do something unpleasant even if necessary, and it is especially hard for me to fire somebody. I was beside myself, not knowing what to do.

I walked back into my office, shut the door, and prayed quietly, Lord, how am I going to resolve this dilemma without having to hurt anyone? I want to be kind to her, but I can’t let this go on.

I did not get an instant answer, but I felt better.

Two weeks later, my then-secretary did not show up on a Monday morning. We called her apartment and got no response then or later. For days we kept trying to locate her, including checking with all the local hospitals. We never did find out what happened to her. She simply disappeared. I regret that the depth of this woman’s problems leading to her dismal situation was not more apparent to me and that I did not have more time to try to help her resolve her problems.

I am thankful that this problem was resolved without any unpleasantness on my part.”

The story about the disappearing secretary is cold. Real cold. Sociopathically cold.

He prays to God to resolve the situation for him, and the secretary disappears, and he sees this as God’s answer to the prayer? It’s like she was just an NPC, not a person with her own value and existence. It reminds me of the “Government programs for the poor rob Christians of the chance to do good.” thing.

Does not compute.

Well, I’d say the Mormon church has screwed the pooch. I’ve seen tweets from Deray McKesson and now, from Shaun King, regarding the new policy of not blessing/baptizing children of same sex parents.

The Salt Lake Tribune spells out the problem pretty succinctly in its headline

New Mormon policy makes apostates of married same-sex couples, bars children from rites

Personally, I’m thinking this is a major fuckup on the part of the Mormon church.

Oy. My ex had a good friend who was into that sect. One of the most annoying people I’ve ever met, because she was very passive, yet very into victimhood (“woe is me, I’m so helpless”, etc.) After a time, she finally got on my ex’s last nerve, and their friendship soon ended, much to my great relief.

This was posted on Tuesday

If the actual number comes in higher than 181,000 — let’s say, 200,000 — Wall Street will worry even more that the Fed has the excuse it needs to raise borrowing costs. And the stock market could convulse if the number is too good.

This is the part of the plot where Wall Street gets angry, frantic and concerned all at once. This is where Wall Street becomes the damsel in distress.

So, the Fed will have the excuse it needs to raise rates, right?

Maybe. If the next Fed meeting were next week. But the next time Yellen gets the band together will be Dec. 15 and 16 — and, by that time, we’ll have the jobs report for November.

Lets see what happens to the stock market today.

I know the feeling. My ex was into the Soka Gakkai. She’d start the day chanting “Nam Myoho Renge Kyo” for a good hour and end the day the same way. She’d recite the leader’s (Ikeda) latest writings. They put pressure on me to join but I just couldn’t handle the bullshit.

My ex was into that for a while. Must admit, I had a look at it and there was very little about the message that I disagreed with, and I found the organization interesting: no priest, only lay functionaries. I did not get any pressure from anyone, they seemed friendly and welcoming to outsiders.

But there was nothing about the religion itself that appealed to anything within me to make me want to follow it.

2) Media call him out for his bat-shit crazy utterances.

Every time sheets go on sale I buy a set. Always beige, taupe or tan. Always solid. Then it’s all mix and match what goes on the bed. The comforter is brown, beige, and tan. It works out well.

Russia is suspending flights to/from Egypt following the crash of the Russian jet in Sinai. It’s looking more and more like a bomb was responsible for taking down the plane - as Russia wouldn’t take this step unless the cause was likely terrorism.

Now, the question is how does Egypt go about improving security for airlines, let alone getting a grip on activity in Sinai. Egypt has been dealing with terrorists/militants in Sinai for decades, with mixed success. Egyptian leaders are content to allow Sinai to simmer so long as it doesn’t affect tourism, which is a key economic driver for the country. Attack tourist destinations, and the crackdown is likely to be harsh - as has happened after attacks on Luxor.

Egypt will pour resources into trying to improve airline security, but the airlines still flying there aren’t taking chances. A number have changed their baggage rules - allowing carry on only; the remaining luggage will be sent separately. Flights were also halted between the UK and Egypt’s Sharm el-Sheikh.

The situation is a mess, especially as Egyptian authorities say that they can’t handle the baggage left behind by those airlines refusing to include them on passenger flights.

White people love to make this face when you make random eye contact in an elevator

Years ago I took an Improv class in college. One of the skits we did as a team was to upset the norm of elevator etiquette. We did a skit where there were a couple of people on the elevator and when a new guy got on, instead of turning around and facing the door, he stood with his back to the door, in essence staring at those already on the elevator. Facial expression hilarity ensued.

This was based on the same thing happening when I used to work for a company whose facility was in a 14 story building. This dude would always get on and just look at everyone. Well almost the same…we skipped the facial expressions, because really, that’s serial killer behavior. Who doesn’t face the door? And who want’s to garner the attention of an obvious serial killer! :-)

The derp is strong, and overpowering at that. There is no scenario in which Gov. Christie is surging, or staging a comeback with polling that has consistently been under 5% since May.

He’s been lucky to have been included in the main debates up until now, and now his support has dropped to the point where he’s at the little kid’s debate. He’s entered asterisk territory, and it doesn’t matter that he gave a thoughtful response to a single policy question yesterday. The rest of his policies are the same kind of rehashed economic tomfoolery as the rest of GOP, and being a blowhard doesn’t cut it when you’re getting Trumped at your own game.

We usually hear about this kind of thing in Europe, but it’s not entirely uncommon in NYC - excavations adjacent to Washington Square Park find two burial vaults containing dozens of human remains dating back to the 19th century. It appears they may be from one or two defunct churches that existed nearby.

I can’t help but to think of the ending scene of Gangs of New York. Don’t know if you ever seen the film LH so I’ll spoiler tag it.

The camera shows the graves of Priest Vallon(Liam Neeson) and Bill the Butcher (Daniel Day Lewis) on a hillside. First the graves are readable and visible. Then they fade and we see I believe the Brooklyn Bridge in the background. And finally the Twin Towers in the skyline and the graves are pretty much out of sight “Like we were never here” says Amsterdam Vallon (Leonardo DiCaprio) in the voiceover.

Stranger than fiction. Do you remember the teacher, Mary Kay Letourneau, who had an affair with her student, then aged 12? She went to the pokey for it, pregnant. She got out. Had sex with the boy again. Back to the pokey, and pregnant once more.

Now they are married, with two girls aged 16 and 17.

Honestly, as weird as this is, these two people, in my mind, simply went against societal norms. Of course I think it’s weird, because it is my societal norm as well - that an adult doesn’t have an affair with a 12 year old child - but these two people seem to genuinely be in the kind of love that is in novels.

I think simply saying “they had sex” doesn’t explain their relationship. It wasn’t just sex. And it wasn’t a simple case of teacher/student abuse.

I was fascinated by this originally and have read a lot of follow up stories. It’s something I can’t really understand or relate to…I can’t imagine that kind of love, because that is what it truly seems to be.

I mean it’s simple. President Obama is not qualified for BenCarson’s job as a neurosurgeon. Carson only qualifies in that he’s a natural born citizen that fits the age requirement. There’s lots of people like that in this country. He may be a successful neurosurgeon and good for him on that but that does not qualify him to run the United States government. Funny how conservatives worries about experience go out the window when it’s one of their own.

As a teacher, I had (and have) real qualms about this sort of thing, but, you know, it happens. Too often, it’s a male teacher seducing a female student (or male, ftm). More rare is the female teacher seducing the male. In Letourneau’s case, it doesn’t seem like a seduction, but a case of two people finding their soulmate. The very awkward (and illegal) part was one of them was only 12 years old at the time, and the teacher, being in loco parentis, is supposed to be the adult keeping the child from sexual activity. Letourneau was acting unprofessionally, even recklessly, by having sex with the boy. Whether they were in love is irrelevant. She could have kept her knickers on until he was old enough to marry her, or at least be above the age of consent.

Now, that’s all water under the bridge. He’s 32 and she’s 54. They seem happy. So, I suppose I can turn off the judgmental shit now and wish them well.

I guess I should explain what the term Fachidiot really means. According to babelfish (babelfish.altavista.com ED: no longer available. Basically a fachidiot is a person who knows so much about one single thing that they know nothing about anything else.

Ben Carson is not right in the head. He’s getting angry that CNN are investigating the stories he’s told about his past

“This is a bunch of lies, that is what it is,” Carson said on CNN’s “New Day” when Alisyn Camerota asked about the report by Scott Glover and Maeve Reston in which they spoke to people Carson grew up with. “This is a bunch of lies attempting to say I’m lying about my history, I think it’s pathetic, and basically what the media does is they try to get you distracted.”

“The vetting that you all did with President Obama doesn’t even come close, doesn’t even come close to what you guys are trying to do in my case, and you’re just going to keep going back, ‘He said this 12 years ago’ — it is just garbage,” Carson said. “Give me a break.”

Ben Carson slammed CNN’s reporting into his past as a “bunch of lies” in a combative interview on Friday, strengthening his defense of his violent past that the media have thus far been unable to corroborate.

I totally attacked my mom with a hammer & try to stab a guy! The liberal media is libeling me by pretending I wasn’t a violent psychotic.

I remember after the GOP nominated E.W. Jackson for Lieutenant Governor in 2013, I was mocking the nomination and some right-wing hack (a paid political consultant with an IQ at or before room temperature) immediately called me a racist.

It’s the right wing’s MO. They actually do fling racist crap at Dem candidates and the few times they actually find an African-American or racial minority that agrees with their shit to run on their party’s banner and when those candidates eventually do attract criticism because A) political criticism is inevitable and B) because guys like Jackson and now Carson are batshit insane, the right cries YOU’RE THE REAL RACIST LIBTARD. The fact of the matter is liberal and Democratic groups aren’t sending racist chainmails about Carson. Their problem with Carson is simply with his worldview. The same cannot be said about many (not all) right wing critics of President Obama.

There were called “Idiot Savants” back in the day, then someone thought “Autistic Savant” was more politically correct although there is no evidence that people with this very rare syndrome are on the spectrum.

I think Carson displays some spectrum behavior. He has an exceptionally flat affect at almost all times…no, scratch that, I don’t think I have ever seen him have any other kind of affect.

Whether that is spectrum or not (I don’t know enough about the aspects of the autistic spectrum), it’s not normal psychological behavior.

I’d have to look at him more but I may be biased since I have a hard time noticing spectrum behavior in other people. For example, I had a childhood friend and classmate who had Asperger’s and I was genuinely shocked when she told me she had AS.

Being someone who loves math and science and does not really care for a lot of the “interpret why Moby Dick is an allegory for a fight between the past and the future” (yes, bad on purpose), what I and he needs is an engineering explanation for a lot of that stuff. More importantly, not every person can be taught the nuances of Shakespeare sonnets just like not everyone can be taught proof by induction. And Carson, obviously, can’t be taught anything after he received his license.

Someone can correct me if I’m wrong, but wasn’t the book “The Cross and the Switchblade” eventually found to be mostly fiction? Carson may be trying for a similar dramatic “come to Jesus” narrative, which sells more books than “I was a smart and nerdy kid who became a 7th day adventist because it sounded OK.”

re: #426 Fourth Football of the Apocalypse

Is that actually true?

Looks to be:

Ben Carson’s campaign on Friday admitted, in a response to an inquiry from POLITICO, that a central point in his inspirational personal story was fabricated: his application and acceptance into the U.S. Military Academy at West Point.

The academy has occupied a central place in Carson’s tale for years. According to a story told in Carson’s book, “Gifted Hands,” the then-17 year old was introduced in 1969 to Gen. William Westmoreland, who had just ended his command of U.S. forces in Vietnam, and the two dined together. That meeting, according to Carson’s telling, was followed by a “full scholarship” to the military academy.

West Point, however, has no record of Carson applying, much less being extended admission.

“In 1969, those who would have completed the entire process would have received their acceptance letters from the Army Adjutant General,” said Theresa Brinkerhoff, a spokeswoman for the academy. She said West Point has no records that indicate Carson even began the application process. “If he chose to pursue (the application process) then we would have records indicating such,” she said.

When presented with this evidence, Carson’s campaign conceded the story was false.

re: #426 Fourth Football of the Apocalypse

In May of his senior year, he was chosen to march in the city’s Memorial Day parade.
“I felt so proud, my chest bursting with ribbons and braids of every kind. To make it more wonderful, we had important visitors that day. Two soldiers who had won the Congressional Medal of Honor in Viet Nam were present,” he wrote. “More exciting to me, General William Westmoreland (very prominent in the Viet Nam war) attended with an impressive entourage. Afterward, Sgt. Hunt” - his high school ROTC director - “introduced me to General Westmoreland, and I had dinner with him and the Congressional Medal winners. Later I was offered a full scholarship to West Point.”
But, according to records of Westmoreland’s schedule that were provided by the U.S. Army, the general did not visit Detroit around Memorial Day in 1969 or have dinner with Carson. In fact, the general’s records suggest he was in Washington that day and played tennis at 6:45 p.m.

There are and remain serious issues with the route selected for Keystone XL (which is Phase IV, and meant to parallel Phase I (already built). The route for Phase IV has potential to damage key aquifers and sensitive lands. And it’s not like the oil isn’t already coming to the US by pipeline in this region; it’s going through the already existing pipelines.

Though when you look closer at those other pipelines, you see issues with leaks, and it’s impossible to believe that the new pipeline wouldn’t eventually leak either.

Today I have learned that Ben Carson

* did not hit his mom with a hammer
* did not stab someone in a fit of rage
* did not meet Gen. Westmoreland over dinner
* did not get a scholarship to West Point
* does not understand the purpose of the Pyramids at Giza, or even about proper grain storage
* does not understand why people are aghast that he would lie so much

In a sane world, this would be Game Over for Dr. Ben.

Ben will probably say that Westmoreland promised him a full scholarship and that Ben just didn’t follow through with it.

Something like that, yes. I read other sources in which he states that WP officials offered him help with an application and scholarship, but that he did not pursue it.

So just a bit of exaggeration for emphasis, right?

I’m sure POTUS (well, this one, anyway) has a good handle on things, but isn’twasn’t the issue with the Keystone pipeline that it didn’t really ship oil “into” the country, but rather just THROUGH it?
IIRC, the whole rationale behind the project was to pipe oil from the sources in Canada straight through to the Gulf coast, where it would be shipped off: IOW, Canada and multinationals would get the profits, while the US (and its people) would have to deal with the environmental problems and/or spills.

Ben.

Perhaps after I wake up tomorrow morning, I’ll find Dr. Ben to be a former presidential candidate. He should have enough material for a book by now, anyway.

If Allen West could manage to get elected despite serious questions about his military record and separation from the military (engaging in potential war crimes at that), then Carson could still stick around despite his lack of connection with reality.

re: #160 Eclectic Cyborg

I unfortunately have recent experience with both Victor’s mouse and rat traps.
Set properly and baited enticingly I find them reliable and superior to the glue traps, poison, and even our old house cat.

The glue traps torture the critters till you dispatch them, and sometimes they break a leg or tear their skin trying to escape, increasing their suffering.

I do not like poison due to the unintended bi-kill but we had a smart rat get in our crawl space so I tried one judiciously and could not get it to take it.
Finally got it with a Victor.

Our old cat is fat and has taken mice on occasion, but other times just played with or ignored them.

The Victors with the big yellow, plastic bait paddles cost a little more and seem to work better.
When you hook the retaining wire on the paddle to set it you can position it to one side for normal sensitivity or the other for hair trigger.
On hair trigger it can be tricky to set down without it snapping on your finger (the big rat traps can leave a nasty bruise).

You still want to smear some bait on the paddle, and I have had success with cheese and peanut butter.
Ants will consume the peanut butter within a day or two; cheddar cheese lasts longer but goes oily and kinda stale after a while.

Try to place along walls or their tracks so that they do not approach the bait over the spring side.
Otherwise your target may survive and learn, or you may find it trapped but still alive.

I have created restrictions to direct their path or placed in the trap in a small box to assure proper alignment for the kill bar over their neck for a clean, quick kill.

Rats seem smarter than mice and you may have to experiment with baits and placements.
And if you have trouble enticing them I have left traps baited but un-set for a time to get them comfortable and feeding on it.
Then one night set the trap and you will often find the pest in the morning.

Good luck controlling the vermin.

With the way he is reacting to it just ups the game, They know they have him hurt and backtracking.

We may be seeing the end of Ben Carson. And it won’t take any left leaning media to do it.

Next up for him is his buddy TRUMP® and the rest of the pack going after him. And how can he put down all of them when they are all as crazy as he is. Ben is in jam and I don’t think he has the ability to get out of it other than to start a downward spiral of more lies and bullshit.

I think the market doesn’t like solid jobs reports, especially as time goes by, because we are getting into the stage of recovery where applicants can demand better wages because the supply/demand is more towards their side.

The stock market operates within its own set of rules - pressures on profits are seen as bad. Job gains can result in pressure on profits since it signals to the Fed to increase interest rates, which would increase borrowing costs, reducing profits. So, good news for most folks is taken as bad news on the Street.

Same thing with wage growth. Wage growth is good for everyone but those on the Street, who see it as eating into profits (except that if more people have better wages, they can spend more of it, priming the economy - if inflation remains under control). Inflation is currently not an issue, so the market treats job/wage pressure as a bad thing.

Jodie Marie Burchard-Risch, 43, of Ramsey and her husband were eating at the Applebee’s at 129th Street NW on Oct. 30, according to the criminal complaint. Witnesses say the pair was upset that the victim, who was sitting in a booth next to them, was speaking in a foreign language.

I think it is just getting going. You can tell by reading through this thread (which I am stupid enough to have done…as fast as it is flying) the tone changed a few hours ago.

Ben Shapiro is coming to grips with the “L-word” (liar), FOX news has called him a liar. That is just a signal to me that it has been decided that Carson is now open to be attacked by the establishment GOP. So, over the weekend there will be GOP people on all the talk shows saying they don’t see how Ben can get past there “tale tales” as oit doesn’t make him “look presidential” and stuff like that.

Some will be all fire and brimstone about how Carson has to go, others, like Cruz and Jindal will just soften it by saying the media is hurting a good man, but it might be best for him to step out of the race.

It will all be geared to get one of the non-GOP politicians out of the race. That is politics in 2015.

What’s Baby Ben’s justification?

I’m not going to his babybreitbart blog to read the whole thing.

Minnesota woman smashes Muslim in face with beer mug for speaking Swahili at Applebee’s

That’s a north Minneapolis suburb where I was most likely to have someone yell ‘faggot!’ at me for the rainbow bumper sticker on my truck.

(edited: it’s not in Bachmann’s old district.)

(edit again: Ramsey, where the mug lady lives, is in Bachmann’s old district)

I can’t wait for someone to say “The fact that Carson admitted to lying about West Point means he doesn’t lie.”

He’s matured so much since he repeated it a week ago!

re: #595 Dr. Matt

Except that the Carson campaign already admitted the story is false.

Ben is using Carson’s scalpel to split hairs…saying that Carson claimed to have been offered a scholarship, not that he applied to West Point. Ergo, it’s a hatchet job.

Carson is exposed as a fraud. The economy is booming. KeyStoneXL is dead. So, how does Drudge respond:

El Oh El.

ObserverArt  Nov 6, 2015 • 10:14:19am

So, Benny is calling FOX part of another media hit job. Interesting.

Wow, this is going to be a bloody battle. Looks like the Carson BS is going to cause some more cracks in the GOP. It seems the RWNJ media and the more established conservative media will be fighting. One want him in and one wants him gone.

And Carson is going to create a crack between military and religion deciding to support him or not.

Freep is deeply ashamed of being taken in by that left-wing mountebank. 200+ comments run about 5:1 against Carson.
