Video: Donald Trump on His Plan for a Massive “Deportation Force”

Bad craziness
Politics • Views: 58,708

MSNBC

In this clip from Morning Joe, Donald Trump explains that his border wall is going to be a Trump wall, a big beautiful wall, and he’s going to have a “deportation force” that will round up millions of undocumented immigrants — men, women and children — and drop them all off in their countries of origin, just like Eisenhower did with “Operation Wetback.”

Anyone who believes this is anything but a bizarre racist pipe dream is either: 1) delusional, or 2) a fascist. This “small government conservative” is suggesting the creation of a massive new enforcement agency dedicated to arresting entire families. I usually try to avoid these kinds of metaphors, but let’s face it — he’s basically talking about turning the US into Nazi Germany. It’s absolutely insane and disgusting that the conservative movement is embracing this kind of nightmarish totalitarian bullshit.

Anyhow yes this would be very Nazisque what he’s advocating. His whole platform and rhetoric towards immigrants is what you would see in a fascist dictatorship.

11 million people deported in 2 years. That’s 628 people every hour of every day for 730 days with no interruptions. Weekends, holidays, around the clock, non-stop for 2 years.

Would someone ask Trump the logistics of deporting 628 people PER HOUR for 2 years, please? Trump rails against those saying his deportation claims are unrealistic. Explain how you deport 628 people an hour for two years. Or, to put it in an even more ludicrous light, that’s 10+ people per minute with NO mistakes or accidental deportations and with every person receiving their Constitutional due process.

Cattle cars have been used to deport people before, but only from Arizona to New Mexico, that I know of.

The Bisbee Deportation was the illegal kidnapping and deportation of about 1,300 striking mine workers, their supporters, and citizen bystanders by 2,000 members of a deputized posse on July 12, 1917. The action was orchestrated by Phelps Dodge, the major mining company in the area, which provided lists of workers and others who were to be arrested in Bisbee, Arizona. The arrested were first held at a local baseball park before being loaded onto cattle cars and deported 200 miles (320 km) to Tres Hermanas in New Mexico. The 16-hour journey was through desert without food or water. Once unloaded, the deportees, most without money or transportation, were warned against returning to Bisbee.

At 11:00 a.m., the El Paso and Southwestern Railroad brought 23 cattle cars to Bisbee. The posse deputies forced the remaining 1,286 arrestees at gunpoint to board the cars, many of which had over three inches (76 mm) of manure on the floor. Although temperatures were in the mid-90s Fahrenheit,[12] (mid-30s Celsius), no water had been provided to the men since the arrests began at dawn.[3][4][5][6]

The train stopped 10 miles (16 km) east of Douglas to take on water, some of which was provided to the deportees on the packed cars. Deputies manned two machine guns from nearby hilltops to guard the train, while another 200 armed men patrolled the tracks. The train continued to Columbus, New Mexico (about 175 miles (282 km) away), arriving at about 9:30 p.m. Initially prevented from unloading at Columbus, the train slowly traveled back west another 20 miles (32 km) to Hermanas, not stopping until 3:00 a.m.[3][4][5][6][13]

During the Bisbee Deportation, Phelps Dodge executives seized control of the telegraph and telephones to prevent news of the arrests and expulsion from being reported. Company executives refused to let Western Union send wires out of town, and stopped Associated Press reporters from filing stories.[14] News of the Bisbee Deportation was made known only after an IWW attorney, who met the train in Hermanas, issued a press release

Worth reading the whole thing, because you know Trump is reading it.

Living in Bisbee, I can tell you that the Deportation is still a hot topic here. I’ve met people whose families were deported, and others whose families did the deporting. There’s no official monument to the event, because there’s no consensus as to whether it was a terrible or fantastic thing. The only monument is on the grave of the journalist killed during the round up, and that was privately placed less than 20 years ago.

That’s just the thing isn’t it? So many poor conservative voters would rather vote for politicians that oppose gay marriage than politicians that actually stand up for their interests. I don’t care how snobby it sounds but a lot of conservative voters repeatedly do vote against their own interests. It’s how poor states like Kentucky and West Virginia go overwhelmingly to rich snobs like Mitt Romney and would for one like Donald Trump in presidential elections even though guys like Romney and Trump would fuck them over if it made them a penny wealthier.

Personal ratings
1A) Raiders
1B) Last Crusade

2) Temple of Doom

.

3.) Crystal Skull

KotCS wasn’t awful, but it had a lot of hype to live up to and the huge shadow of the original trilogy to get out from under; hell, I liked the general premise of what happened to Indy in the interceding years between Last Crusade and KotCS (I teared up a bit about Henry Sr. and Brody being dead and how Indy, in the beginning of the movie, just seemed beaten and worn down) and the general plot overall (such as Indy and Marion getting back together for good and how the Red Scare’s effect on academa affected Indy). However, there was still some big ass plot holes (lead-lined fridge vs. a nuke?)…and Shia LeBoeuf.

John Kasich: My father carried mail down a coal mine with my grandmother on his back until he died because the wind shifted. So we should cut taxes. Which something something balanced budget. Also training. Cut Medicare. Cut Medicaid.

Maria Bartiromo: Illegal immigration. What do you think?
Trump: Could you toss me a slower pitch? Maybe just hold the softball in your mouth and let me slap it out with my yooooooge dick.

Neil Cavuto: Who does God love best, you or Donald Trump?
Ben Carson: Taxes are ridiculous. The lives of the poors will be better the more we cut programs for them because churches

Maria Bartiromo: Military stuff.
Ben Carson: It’s better to have military stuff than not have military stuff. There are many factions. And there are global jihadists. And Putin. In conclusion…Iraq is a Land of Contrasts.

Maria Bartiromo: Here is a pinata named Hillary Clinton. Have at it.
Marco Rubio: This nation is about the future. Unlike all other elections which were about the 12th Century or the Late Bronze Age. And liberal lefty commies like Hillary only want to take your money and give it to smelly brown people.
Ted Cruz: Hillary Clinton has abandoned Israel. Bitch.

Trump’s idea of a deportation force reminds me of this scene out of Terry Gilliam’s movie Brazil.

Brazil (1/10) Movie CLIP - A Receipt for Your Husband (1985) HD

I wonder if Trump’s force will be similar. Gun happy, picking up the wrong person due to a clerical error ( a fly got into the printer and made a “T” look like a “B”) and the wrong floor replacement piece due to a mix up between government agencies. But hey, you might get the proper receipt for your husband!

I usually try to avoid these kinds of metaphors, but let’s face it — he’s basically talking about turning the US into Nazi Germany.

Nah, you got it wrong, Charles. He just wants to re-settle them in the East south (way south), for their own protection, you see, from the good Aryan patriotic Americans who find their presence unacceptable. Those areas are obviously under-developed and, as every good Austrian economist knows, they could therefore benefit from an influx of even more cheap labor, one that has itself benefited from at least cursory exposure to higher civilization.

On a gloomier note, I don’t know how we’ll get cattle shipped once this really gets going: This operation will require every stock trailer and railcar in the fleet and the Trump-Feds will grab them at exorbitant rates. We should see if Cheney has invested in this kind of rolling stock.

Yet an administrator repeatedly tried to block a student journalist, Tim Tai, from taking pictures on assignment for ESPN. “You need to back off,” she told him, flanked by student protesters. “You are infringing on their right to be alone.” She helped lead a group of students who essentially steamrolled Tai away, even as he calmly asserted his First Amendment rights to be there.

That administrator, Janna Basler, is the university’s assistant director of Greek life and leadership in the student life division.

A faculty member, later caught on that same video, repeatedly sought to banish a videographer who lingered behind a wall of students and finally called out for backup. “Hey, who wants to help me get this reporter out of here? I need some muscle over here!”

Did you get the fog in your area this morning? I saw you posted a satellite view of it. That knocked Columbus morning visibility down to less than a 1/4 mile and it didn’t finally clear off until after noon. And we did get some sun, but it was kinda a white sky all day.

yep. Fog didn’t completely lift here in the backwoods until after 11 am, not sure how much longer it took over by the river.

Looking past the total stupidity and racist pandering, I really would like to know the nitty gritty mechanics of how Trump thinks his plan would work. How would the government be determining, on an individual basis, who is “illegal”? Obviously, undocumented people are not going to voluntarily give themselves up when they know they are going to be deported. Trump and others make it seem like we know who these people are already, we don’t. We’d have to find out and that’s not exactly easy. The only way I can think to find out is to undertake an aggressive bizarro census-like operation to determine if people have their “papers.” Essentially this special government force knocking on doors demanding papers, or even performing sweeps of neighborhoods. God help these folks if they have misplaced their documents, don’t speak English, or even worse, dare to talk back to one of the officers.

Will this special government force be in every neighborhood? Will they be raiding Trump Tower for potential “illegal” foreign millionaires in penthouses? Yea, that’s what I thought.

The thought of this is beyond disturbing and I hope I am not being naive when I tell myself someone like Trump could never win a presidential election.

The only way Trump’s plan can work is to offer bountys. Since the Consitution requires due process and justifiable cause for searches (yeah I know that sounds funny, but bear with me), his goons will need some sort of grounds to barge in on or detain suspected illegal aliens. To do that he’ll need informants.

There’s so many interesting aspects to this. The DREAMERs are the most high profile, obviously. But what about someone who married a citizen? Or someone who has minors that are citizens (are we, as a society, seriously going to be ok with effectively deporting citizens)? And what happens if someone overstays a visa that should have been renewed? Or the first time a natural born citizen gets deported because the system is just completely overwhelmed?

And by the way, I’ve friends who practice immigration law, the system is already overwhelmed, what Trump is proposing would essentially break the federal administrative process.

“But I can tell you, for millions of Americans at home, watching this, it is a very personal economic issue, and I will say the politics of it would be very, very different if a bunch of lawyers or bankers were crossing the Rio Grande, or if a bunch of people with journalism degrees were coming over and driving down the wages in the press, then we would see stories about the economic calamity that is befalling our nation.”

You can expect it with a Republican President. I think ISIS used the same logic when bombing that airliner. All Putin’s inevitable overreaction will do is boost ISIS’ importance in the region. Just like George W. Bush gave Osama bin Laden all he could have hoped for and more in the wake of 9/11.

If someone is intent on changing history, then that would be one way. There’s like an infinity of solutions to the Hitler-becoming-a-monster problem that do not involve any direct murder. Including slightly changing the course of his life (butterfly effect), changing it strongly (e.g. kidnapping), preventing the said life altogether (e.g. inducing a miscarriage at an early state of pregnancy), etc.

But changing history, if it were possible (which it is not for anyone living inside the spacetime), would also mean erasure of untold billions of people, thus making the hapless time traveler worse than any Hitler.

Additionally, many of those erased people would be replaced with someone else. Instead of all those GIs getting busy dying, they’d just be getting busy. One of those replacement people could have ended up being worse. Also, too, parallel timelines makes this a billion times more complicated.

Germany and the Soviet Union would have gone to war eventually anyway, and who knows how that would have turned out. You never know, without Hitler Germany may have had western allies.

The usual problem with the sci-fi time travel scenarios is that the “now” - that ever—present instant of temporal becoming - somehow time-travels with this one guy or gal back and forth in time. How so? What makes this clump of atoms special? What happens to those left behind? Makes no sense.

I suppose one could respond in two ways. First is that every instant is a “now” of sorts, so when Farty FcFly travels in time, he doesn’t “take” the “now” with him but rather finds himself in a similar “now” with a different t-coordinate. The problem is that this view of reality leads to some pretty weird logical outcomes. If at each instant of the past - and we *are* living in the past relative to the future instants - there is a “now” in which the future (as seen from that “now”) can be changed, then not only the “present” we are constantly changing the future, the “past” we (relative to “our” “now”) are also constantly changing the “future” - including our “present”. Thus the whole reality is not fixed and it’s hard to say what is real at all.

Another way to see it would be to deny the reality of “now” - temporal becoming - altogether. But then the whole spacetime continuum is static and there can be no time-changing travel to speak of, maximum - static time loops. Only someone from the outside of our spacetime, with their own time stream, would be able to change history, sort of like we can change a miniature city model.

That used to be more true of the old analog temp sensors. They actually used metal to sense the temps so they had progressive failure. The newer digital type are so damn small and are many times a little ceramic tip on the end of some wires. They just break or refuse to send a signal.

And yes, I agree about the repairman. That is why I always try to see if there is simple and inexpensive fix I can do. Might as well try before buying new. If it is a funky old stove and no longer wanted then recycle it and buy new.

I’m trying to keep my eye on what my potential options might be, because I know that if I’m in any kind of anything chances are good my car is done.

So, we assume the Deportation Fo卐ce will use the FEMA camps as transit points. But to get the invaders back to the point of origin will require more than land routes, as Mexico will for sure no allow transport through their country to Central America.

Does this mean FEMA has cargo ships too? Are there any FEMA ports about which I am not aware? Is the Naval base at Corpus going to convert to a Deportation Fo卐ce port?

You know, before last night I can say I never heard of this operation. But it sure does one thing. It again shows these clods do really want to go back in time. And we often cite 1950 as the time.

Something not often mentioned when describing this event — they were *really* careless about who they picked up. They just sort of drove around a particular part of town, grabbed up whoever was easily accessible and looked the part. More than 1/3, maybe as many as 1/2, were native-born American citizens. Whoops!!

The insurance company of the guy who hit me is graciously providing me with a rental car.

For three days. Which means I have to return the car before I get the payment from them.

This has turned into a huge headache. And the really frustrating part of it is that I could probably have gotten another 100K miles out of my car - it was in very good shape, old and with a lot of miles, but well maintained.

Your humble narrator is a frustrated stressed out puppy tonight.

How fucking perverse Anastasia the movie is? Basically they took the tragic story of an innocent girl murdered by the Bolsheviks, pretended she had never been shot, and exploited the resulting BS story for all it was worth. So basically in that animated film she was really an animated corpse all the fucking time.

A film made by Don Bluth, NOT Disney, and which Disney bought the rights to and buried next to “Song of the South” when it was definitely proven that Anastasia was killed with the rest of her family.

<Video: Skier survives 1,600-foot fall in Southwest Alaska mountain range/a>

Few of today’s adventure sports fans probably remember the “agony of defeat” video that opened ABC’s “Wide World of Sports” decades ago, showing Slovenian ski jumper Vinko Bogataj’s spectacular crash in 1970.

It’s been upstaged. Right here in Alaska.
Canadian professional skier Ian McIntosh somehow survived a 1,600-foot head-over-heels-over-head-over-heels tumble lasting nearly a minute in Alaska’s Neacola Range about 120 miles southwest of Anchorage, an area pockmarked with numerous 3,000-foot couloirs. The video, with audio of his gasps, is frightening.

“While filming for “Paradise Waits” (a skiing and snowboarding film), Mac dropped into a line he thought he had studied thoroughly enough, only to fall into an unseen 5-foot-deep trench on one of his first turns,” Todd Jones, a co-founder of Teton Gravity Research, the action sports entertainment company based in Jackson, Wyoming, said in a press release.

McIntosh, who’s also a BASE jumper, immediately yells “No” when he realizes what is happening.

“From there,” McIntosh said afterwards, my slough took over and there was no way to stop. I pulled my airbag to help prevent against any possible trauma injuries as I tumbled to the bottom.”

It “was the most terrifying crash I’ve ever seen,” Jones said.

The fall happened April 10, but the video was only uploaded to YouTube last week — probably because “Paradise Waits” opens in theaters this week.

And McIntosh on Tuesday alerted fans on his Facebook page: “Make sure you check out “Good Morning America” tomorrow morning for yours truly. Talking big mountain skiing and crashing huge. Haha!”

I’ve seen that. Terrifying! Walked away uninjured and didn’t start a massive avalanche. You can thank that heavy maritime snow of Alaska for that, some of the most stable snowpack in the world, unlike where I live where we are already dealing with a weak basal layer which could lead to deep persistent slabs later this winter.

Here, a little snow science for the uninitiated.

Got a foot of light fluffy last night in the woods near Steamboat. Denver and east towards the plains had blizzard-like conditions, much of that wind is what the midwest is experiencing now. But the snow totals weren’t that high overall. It was a fast moving storm. Clear now, 11 degrees F. Brr.

The Electrolux/GE Appliances deal isn’t done yet and may not be if the DoJ gets its way.

The assembly line that paid my way through UofL was GE’s Appliance Park. Our line made 1,500 refrigerators per night. There were 3 lines, sometimes running 3 shifts. At the time we had almost 20,000 employees. When I last heard of it, there were 6,000.

There are any number of rock songs about the experience of war, but for my money, on Veterans/Remembrance/Armistice Day, none tops Alice in Chains’ “Rooster”:

Alice In Chains - Rooster

The clips of the guitar player’s father (a Vietnam vet, the song is about him) saying “I hope nobody ever has to go through it again” is more than enough. And then you have the song, plus the harrowing video that’s like something out of “Platoon”.
