The Right Wing Hate Machine Goes … There

Yes, folks, Donald Trump, the leading GOP candidate in polling, is pushing for Muslims to be specially identified. He’s already called for suspending the First Amendment when it comes to Muslims in this country.
Now, he wants them to be clearly identified.
The Nazis had a thing for that.
What Trump proposes is more extreme than anything proposed or enacted after 9/11, which killed more than 3,000 Americans (and for which Americans continue dying as responders continue to suffer the effects 14 years later and for which the GOP continues to block permanent aid to them as part of the Zadroga Act, but I digress). Now, Trump and the rest of the GOP are pushing for more extreme solutions based on an attack that didn’t even occur in the United States.

When faced with questions about his mosque closure statement, Trump doubled down - he didn’t withdraw the clearly unconstitutional notion, but thought his initial statement didn’t go far enough.
Trump is hardly alone with this demonization. Ben Carson, who’s running neck and neck with Trump has said that he’d deny Muslims the right to be in political office.
The demonization and hate spewed towards Syrian refugees is beyond a fever pitch at this point. The right wing has gone off the rails in attacking people whose only crime is trying to escape the Syrian Civil War and Bashar al Assad on one side, and Daesh on the other.
The GOP thinks Syrian refugees are the biggest threat to American national security, even though there’s no proof that Syrian refugees were involved in the Paris attacks and refugees have not shown themselves to be the kind of threat that the GOP is drumming up — and we’ve got more than 2 decades of experience with Muslim refugees from various conflicts at that.
The right wing is cheering on the hate, xenophobia and rabid Islamophobia to thunderous applause- - and Trump and Carson’s polling continues climbing. The more extreme statements they make, the better they polling among the GOP.
The rot is all the way to the core of the GOP.
