Ben Carson Decides Not to Stick to His “Celebrating Muslims” Story

Oops
Politics • Views: 79,644

In the ongoing sitcom of the GOP presidential campaign, Ben Carson is now backing away from his statement that he “Saw the Film” of Muslims cheering in New Jersey on 9/11.

I’m thinking his advisers pulled him aside after that ridiculous performance and had a few words with him about the advisability of jumping on board the Trump bandwagon for this issue.

Of course, he was asked more than once about whether he was certain he saw these celebrations in New Jersey, not the Middle East, and replied with a definite affirmative. He got caught lying, obviously, but nobody expects any politician to admit that.

What a clown show.

Carson and the other GOP candidates are trying to walk a fine line, where they don’t overtly claim Moozlimz are all terrorists or terrorist sympathizers, while still IMPLYING that Moozlimz are all terrorists or terrorist sympathizers, so they need to be distinguishable from Trump, who’s going all in.

probably more money in losing. you win, and Odin forbid - actually become president that’s 4-8 years where you can’t charge for speaking gigs. It’s also 4-8 years where you can’t get paying seats on boards of directors or other fanciful corporate gigs where they basically pay you to have your name on the letterhead. And if you fuck up in your first term, a lot of those opportunities are going to go away anyhow. So might as well lose a “valiant” fight and then move on to the grift (and for the record, I don’t think this is a particularly Republican move, a presidential campaign is always a good way to “transition out of” politics and back to the private sector)

She had told me about it on the phone and I told her that she was getting some crappy info.

I was reading about her & her town somewhere yesterday—can’t remember where. She talked about feeling concerned/uneasy, but it was due to cultural changes (the town had a strong Polish history) and things like some zoning changes WRT selling alcohol and also hearing the call to prayer five times a day. She said nothing about fear of terrorism or impending Shariah (or whatever it is people think is scary about Muslims).

51
Ian G.  Nov 23, 2015 • 3:54:06pm

Honestly, this is one of the few good pieces of news we’ve had come through from the GOP side of things since Paris. It means that someone on the GOP side thinks that perpetuating a blood libel is not a good idea. And make no mistake, this whole “Muslims Americans were cheering 9/11” is no different than the medieval accusations of Jews ritually murdering children to make matzoh.

I would hope that the average American is less hysterical and ignorant than a medieval peasant, but right now, I’m not so confident in that.

Sharon’s schools are a big draw for families. So is its diversity. The town has seven synagogues, nine churches, and one of New England’s largest Islamic mosques. Nearly 30% of students in public school are nonwhite, and 18% speak a language other than English at home.

Huh. Maybe things were different then? There are tons of Jews up here (the Oranges). The ShopRite in West Orange even has a kosher butcher in-store and a couple of aisles of kosher-only food (one of dry goods, the other refrigerated/frozen items).

We’re doing frittata because she is vegetarian, and a little bit of fancy cooking but not a ton.

If it were just mr. klys and I, we might have gone out. Or possibly just done munchies like crackers and cheese and whatnot. That’s what we did last year.

Not sure your sister would believe it anyway? That’s been my experience with family that have gone full metal wingnut (sorry, don’t mean to offend). You can show them many different sources in an attempt to open their eyes, but they’ll just dismiss it as (opposite party) lies.

So I’m googling around and there’s this old NYT piece with a Netanyahu quote I’ve never seen before.

nytimes.com

Asked tonight what the attack meant for relations between the United States and Israel, Benjamin Netanyahu, the former prime minister, replied, ‘‘It’s very good.” Then he edited himself: ”Well, not very good, but it will generate immediate sympathy.” He predicted that the attack would ”strengthen the bond between our two peoples, because we’ve experienced terror over so many decades, but the United States has now experienced a massive hemorrhaging of terror.”

I don’t know enough names of deities to blaspheme after delving into a comment section over at the American Spectator’s blog. First, the “defense” of Trump on seeing thousands of Muslims cheer on 9/11 was to point out that CNN reported on some group celebrating on 9/11… 2009 - after the Ft Hood shooting. One commenter tried to point out that if you say “9/11” everyone assumes that means 9/11/2001 and you can’t say, “oh, just kidding, different year.” But mostly it’s evil vileness that you’d expect. And a new one, that “leftists at Pace University in Brooklyn were celebrating on 9/11/2001” and there were “hundreds of eye witness accounts.” I shit you not.

It amazes me that, when this is the best defense they have, they don’t just admit a fuck up and move along. I mean seriously, if I say “I was at Pearl Harbor on December 7” and that happened in 2012, that doesn’t mean I was at Pearl Harbor on December 7 in the way people would commonly understand that.

Pundits and bookies are working together to predict when the first actual human sacrifice will occur at a Trump rally. Few believe that Trump is likely to get as far as the Iowa caucuses without at least one rally-related maiming. Sources within the Trump campaign tell Yr Wonkette that the candidate has not yet decided whether to include ritualized violence as a regular part of campaign events or simply to let the mayhem develop at its own pace.

“…If these two leading candidates for President of the United States are to be believed, somewhere out there exists a video of “thousands” of (or let’s say, charitably, at least several dozen) American Muslims, in Jersey City, cheering on 9/11, and this video was taken from real, actual news footage that aired, in the United States, around the time of the attacks themselves.

Do you have this news footage? If so, you can email me here. Let’s chat. There might be $5,000 in it for you.

Update 5:50 p.m.:
Now, even Carson is distancing himself from the alleged clip.

In the midst of all this, a young Maryland man driving home from work spotted a woman with a flat tire stranded on the side of the road. She had an infant and a toddler with her. He stopped to help her and told her his name was Ali.

She asked whether he was Muslim. When he said yes, according to his widely circulated post on Facebook, the woman told him that she didn’t need help “from you people.”

This happened in Howard County — one of the most diverse, proudly inclusive places in the state, a county with the motto: “Choose Civility.”

Trump was complaining the media doesn’t show his large crowds. I bet he gets pissed if they show them leaving.

That’s because Trump supporters have real jobs that they have go to in the morning. Not like the gibmedats that demoncraps bus in for their rallies.

NBC has agreed to give 12 minutes of air time to a handful of Republican presidential candidates who filed for equal time after Donald Trump, who is also seeking the GOP nomination, hosted “Saturday Night Live” earlier this month, Variety reported.

Ohio Gov. John Kasich, former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee, former Virginia Gov. Jim Gilmore, and Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) will be granted 12 minutes of airtime during primetime on NBC networks in Iowa, New Hampshire, and South Carolina on Nov. 27 and Nov. 28.

They will also get time during “SNL” on Nov. 28, according to the report.

In Lower Merion, PA, a family sued the school district for using the webcam on school issued laptops to check on the location of their computer, ostensibly because the student hadn’t complied with something or another. The residents were pissed at the family who sued because it was costing the district (a VERY wealthy district) money. The thing about the lawsuit was that it was all about the discovery process. While the school district swore up and down that the camera was only activated to check on the whereabouts of the computer (HA!), it was discovered that it had secretly snapped more than 66,000 images. None of that would have been known if it weren’t for the lawsuit.
The comparison here is that we won’t know what happened here until the people involved in the arrest have to give sworn depositions, and it’s a civil case so there aren’t any 5th amendment concerns.
Sometimes you have to sue to get somebody to tell you what happened.

Sorry but that’s a completely ridiculous amount of money. For perspective LAUSD paid half that to two victims of sexual abuse,

Well it got people talking.

Besides, as much as I want to see Irving ISD and the dumbshit Mayor punished monetarily, I highly doubt it will come to that.

Go ahead sue. No jury in TX will even give him the time of day. But he doesn’t need it. He has a homemade clock.

How the fuck do you know what “no jury” in TX will do? It’s a big state, and very diverse, and you shouldn’t make assumptions about anything based on the fact that it’s a deep red state. Its large cities aren’t dominated by the right wing yahoos that run the rest of the state.
