Planned Parenthood Shooting Suspect Gave Neighbor Anti-Obama Pamphlets, Said Obama Should Be Impeached

“We were there for a minute and the guy was already handing us anti-Obama pamphlets”
US News • Views: 69,610

Details about Robert Lewis Dear Jr., the suspect in yesterday’s shootings at the Planned Parenthood office in Colorado Springs, are beginning to emerge, and it’s already pretty clear where this is headed.

Buzzfeed News spoke to one of Dear’s neighbors and learned that Dear gave the neighbor anti-Obama pamphlets and said Obama was “ruining the country and needed to be impeached.”

Zigmond Post, who told BuzzFeed News he was a neighbor of Dear’s in Hartsel, said the man once gave him anti-Obama pamphlets.

Post said he once went to Dear’s home to retrieve two dogs that had gotten loose. “We were there for a minute and the guy was already handing us anti-Obama pamphlets,” he said. According to Post, Dear said “Obama was ruining the country and needed to be impeached.”

I’ll not hold my breath but I would really appreciate it if candidates were challenged on specifics of outlawing abortion. When abortion is outlawed, every woman of reproductive age is a potential criminal suspect. Every miscarriage is reasonable cause for an investigation. In El Salvador and other Latin American countries, they chain women to hospital beds when they miscarry while they interrogate them and their (usually female) family members, doctors, friends, etc., all of whom can be held criminally liable for aiding and abetting. This is the result of allowing religion to dictate our laws. Is this the future people like Ted Cruz have in store for us? They need to answer that question but unfortunately requesting accountability for positions is now deemed liberal bias.

This article was written in 2006 but I will never forget it. Might be pay protected but I’ll post the link here. It is aptly titled “Pro Life Nation.”

nytimes.com

I like to think this would never happen here, but our state and federal government is full of people who advocate and work for these kind of laws. They are relentless but so are American women who want to own their bodies. I refuse to be made a criminal by my biology.

MEN OF AMERICA!

If you ever want to have sex with a woman (even your own wife) for anything other than reproductive purposes, you need access to Planned Parenthood or similar institutions offering female health care, including reproductive health.

Any assault on PP or on abortion rights is just like someone kicking you in the balls each time you look at a woman and think anything other than “Gee! I would sure like to sire a(nother) child!!!”

Because of course he did. Sigh. I cannot for the life of me understand what is so hard to get about this: When someone immerses themselves in hatred, be it via talk radio, TV, online forums, who they associate with or whatever, that sooner or later a percentage of people who do that will snap. The people who manufacture this hatred (which has become profitable), on TV, radio, the people who made these PP videos and others can’t tell me they have no idea what they’re provoking. There’s just too much evidence to the contrary. I know we’re a nation that prides itself on free speech, we should. I wonder though, at what point does speech move from “just” speech and into provocation or incitement of violence? Would families of those wounded or killed in these events have legal recourse against the ones manufacturing the hatred? Doesn’t one’s freedom stop where another’s begins?

The problem is, and I really hate to say it but it’s the fucking truth: These people know what they are doing, even down to the point of realizing that cops and the media treat white shooters VERY differently from shooters of other races and/or religions. They also know there’s a very low chance any single one of them will ever be penalized, in a court or otherwise, for whatever rhetoric they promoted that led to the violence. They also know how much profit is in their business model and they’ll be damned if they want to do anything to mess up that money train.

It’s sad truth, but in America today, hate, especially right wing hate, is very good for business. Just ask the gun manufacturers who have been raking it in since Obama was elected.

Fucking THIS. The idea that abortion will just “go away” if you make it illegal is fucking absurd. It’ll go right back underground where it was before (and in some places still is).

And these are the same assholes who, after telling you they want to stop abortion, will, in the same breath, tell you that no amount of gun laws will keep bad guys from getting guns.

I have a friend who got pregnant at 18. She came from a very traditional Afghan family. She was not even allowed to speak to boys. She was the sweetest girl I’ve ever met and she was a friend to me when no one else was. She had an abortion because she knew her family would disown her completely if they found out about the pregnancy. She’s now married and working abroad for humanitarian rights. I can’t imagine what her life would be without access to the abortion pill. I don’t think it’s hyperbole to say it may have saved her life.

There absolutely is a prolific underground market for abortion pills from Mexico due to the onerous regulations and inflated costs of legal abortions that put them out of reach of countless women. Blessedly there are abortion pills now that are less likely to kill and maim young women. That they aren’t readily and inexpensively available from any GP is insane.

Pregnancy is not without risks. A woman in New Mexico got a heart transplant after she had a baby.

Becoming a mom changes a woman’s life, but for one New Mexico woman, getting pregnant nearly killed her. Now, she’s sharing her story in hopes of reminding other moms not to take their health for granted.

She has a picture-perfect pregnancy and a healthy newborn daughter - Amanda Gabaldon was on a lucky streak when she delivered Kassidy in Nov. 2013.

“I envisioned my husband and I sitting at home by the fire in the winter and just loving out little bundle of joy,” she said.

But her first year as a mom went nothing like she expected. Just two weeks after giving birth, she felt sick.

After a misdiagnosis and a huge scare when her heart stopped, Gabaldon learned she had developed peripartum cardiomyopathy - in layman’s terms: heart disease brought on by the pregnancy.

While rare, Dr. Brendan Cavanaugh at the Albuquerque Heart Institute says it’s something pregnant women should know about because it can affect a perfectly-healthy mom in her 20s.

Unfortunately for Gabaldon, her case was worse than most. She had to be sent out of state, and in July 2014, she received a heart transplant.

You cannot prevent abortion. You never will. If a woman wants to abort a baby she can and will. May kill her, but you STILL cannot stop it. Women will thrown themselves down stairs, take herbs, use coat hangers, Draino, anything.

If that thought horrifies you then keep abortion safe, legal, and rare. Otherwise, you’re a hypocrite when you preach about life. Because we’ll abort anyway and there is NOTHING YOU CAN DO TO STOP US.”

IT BEGINS.

According to a fascinating report from Collin Barras of the BBC, archeologists in Africa, South America and Southeast Asia, have been digging up crude stone tools that date back thousands of years — tools that were fashioned by non-human primates.

Which means something kind of extraordinary (emphasis mine):

“The tools are crude. A chimpanzee or monkey stone hammer is hardly a work of art to rival the beauty of an ancient human hand axe. But that’s not the point. These primates have developed a culture that makes routine use of a stone-based technology. That means they have entered the Stone Age.”

Animal cruelty in his history.

Douglas Moore was working in the yard with his son in Walterboro down a driveway marked with an American flag and a “rebel flag,” according to the police report from November 1, 2002. “A shot was fired from the residence next to his and Douglas’ dog yelped out loud and ran over to him,” the report read. “Douglas checked his dog and found a small wound on the right side of the dog,” which had apparently been shot with a pellet gun. Dear allegedly denied shooting the dog but said Douglas “was lucky that it was only a pellet that hit the dog and not a bigger round,” the report read.

Again: these people are not just against Planned Parenthood as an institution, they are against the very idea of planning parenthood.

Think of the differing reactions you might get to ‘Planned Fatherhood’ or ‘Planned Motherhood’.

The Rage Furby has one leeetle problem: Planned Parenthood has not been tried and found guilty of committing a crime. So that’s why he and his cohort are getting the MoFo treatment by the NARAL.

The real problem will be if Gawker succeeds and he has to declare bankruptcy, he’ll become judgement proof-he can sue like mad and everyone will be stuck having to hire counsel to fight off this pest unless someone steps up and asks to have him declared a vexatious litigant.

re: #80 lawhawk

Once again revealing that they aren’t pro life, but forced birth. If they were truly pro-life, they would never even entertain the notion of death penalty to doctors or the women who seek a legal medical procedure.

These extremists are looking to impose a worldview that is unforgiving for anyone who doesn’t adhere to their very narrow views.

Another benefit for the upper class is that forcing birth (for the riff raff, not for them) places pressure on young men to marry the mother of their child. A man with a wife and children has a lot to lose if he stands up against the town’s major employer, or the local power structure. It is easier to pressure them to ‘behave.’
At the same time, a mother who really needs a husband to support her children won’t be causing trouble either. She’ll be competing with other young women for the most likely looking man to keep her from starving.

Just so we don’t forget. Troy Newman is the current head of Operation Rescue, and he’s one of the people who set up the “Center for Medical Progress” (aka Planned Parenthood hit videos). This is from 2003 when Newman was supporting convicted murderer Paul Hill, saying that Hill should have been allowed to present a necessity defense.

Again, so we don’t forget the kind of asshats we’re dealing with here. No matter what Troy Newman says today, 12 years ago he supported Paul Hill, who killed two people in Pensacola in 1994.

At least Canada is getting it right:

Last Friday, the local Muslim community prayed in a United church. This week, it’s a synagogue. And next week, they’ll be at an Anglican church.

Larry Gillman, Beth Israel Synagogue’s president, stood at the synagogue’s entrance Friday afternoon, greeting Muslims as they walked through the door.

“Thank you for having us,” one woman said, before removing her shoes and heading downstairs.

Arson to the Kawarthas’ only mosque on Nov. 14 has left Muslims without a place of worship.

City police deemed the fire to Masjid Al-Salaam as a hate crime.

Since the fire, many religious dominations stepped forward, offering their spaces for Islamic prayer. […]

Hey, Canadians are known for being polite and generous. :D

I’ve only been to Canada (Toronto) once (back in ‘97), but I noticed that. Also very reserved—like when a crazy person gets on a bus or subway, they just pretend like nothing’s happening. I saw that a couple of times, heh.

One day I was down around the Queen’s Quay (on the street side) waiting for my ride when this tour bus pulled. There were some mariachis playing music in the street next to where I was sitting and the group getting off the bus just happened to be from Texas. This guy in a cowboy hat & boots takes one look at the mariachis and let’s out a whoop, followed by, “Hot damn, it feels like we’re right back in Texas!”

People were looking at the group sideways and giving them a wide berth as if a UFO had just landed and aliens disembarked. Totally cracked me up.

It’s funny. When I registered to vote, I actually did almost register as female. However, I quickly noticed my error. But yeah mistakes like this do happen because human error is inevitable. I don’t see any indictation that this man was transgendered but more importantly I don’t see the relevance either. Heterosexual white Christian males shoot places up all the time and I don’t see Dim Jim fixating over that but then again that would mean self reflection.

Dim Jim also is bad at math. He says an increase in renewable energy from 8.1% to 9.8% is a 1% increase. It’s actually a 22% increase. 22% of 8.1 is (roughly) 1.7 points which added equals 9.8%

Percents, percentage points… go away you libtard, my head hurts!

I like how if you’re transgendered or whatever, you must be a liberal by Dim Jim’s logic. I mean all things suggest to me that this was just a clerical error but even if this guy was transgendered. It doesn’t prove anything just like Dim Jim being a middle aged white guy doesn’t indicate all white guys as being pathetic partisan hacks like Jim but as we’ve observed, if you’re part of the “other” the cons will fixate on that but just shrug it off if not. Adam Lanza, Elliott Rodger, and I were all on the spectrum. Well one of us hasn’t killed a bunch of people and would never dream of it. The same is true of millions of transgendered people and other people on the spectrum including some of you and your kids.

A year later, in 2003, Dear was arrested for animal cruelty. The charges were dropped a year later. The complaint against him states that Douglas Moore, Dear’s other neighbor, was with his step-son doing yard work. Moore alleged that his dog was walking down the driveway when “a shot was fired from the residence next to his.” The incident report describes Dear’s home as having an American flag and a “Rebel” (Confederate) flag flying in front of it.”

A Mom Anon  Nov 28, 2015 • 2:14:31pm

I really think there needs to be a movement to get abortions moved into hospitals. These stand alone clinics are easy targets and make it super easy for women to be singled out and harassed for so much as parking their cars there. If the procedures were done in Women’s medical centers in hospitals wouldn’t they be safer over the long term? I know there’s probably always going to be medical staff that might leak information about patients or hospitals getting threatened, but I would think it would make it more difficult for these forced birth assholes to invade a hospital than a stand alone clinic. I don’t know, I just feel like what we’re doing here isn’t working, and the clinics being shut down and harassed might be more difficult if this couldn’t be just pinned on a “devil”, in this case Planned Parenthood. Planned Parenthood isn’t the only entity who provides or refers women to get abortions either.

Looking at the mugshots, I could almost believe that this guy walked in off the street and had no idea who he was shooting at. When old mountain-dwelling white guys like that go off the rails, it’s 50/50 whether they even know who they’re aiming for. I’m not making the “mental health” excuse, but usually the explicitly political killers leave a screed somewhere, so I’m going to reserve full judgement until there’s better info.

Edit: Aaaand better info was just posted above while I was writing. If he was breaking in, he knew where he was headed.

I hope we get more info about who his friends are soon.

Edit 2 - quote from KKTV’s website:

“Authorities have confirmed that the alleged shooter Robert Lewis Dear, 57, has a Park County address in the Hartsel area. This is an extremely complex ongoing criminal investigation. THE PARK COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE IS NOT ALLOWING anyone near the residence and the entrance is being guarded by Sheriff’s Deputies. News Media are advised not to attempt to go to the address at this time…The men and women of the Park County Sheriff’s Office stand in unity with the Colorado Springs Police Department and the citizens of Colorado Springs.”

But the maps and photos of the location show it’s not located in a strip mall and is a free standing building. I get that there may have been a strip mall in the area, but the PP office (unless the maps and location are not correct and this is a different PP office) I saw was by itself. Our local news coverage of this in Atlanta was abysmal, but that’s not a shock, most news outlets are crap these days. So, am I off on this or am I missing something?

Rest Of Today Rain…heavy at times. Highs around 41. Southeast wind 10 to 15 mph.

Tonight Rain…heavy at times. Lows around 39. Southeast wind 10 to 20 mph.

Sunday Rain…heavy at times in the morning…then chance of rain in the afternoon. Highs around 42. Southeast wind 10 to 20 mph.

Sunday Night Rain. Lows around 36. Southeast wind 15 mph.

Monday Rain likely. Highs around 41. Southeast wind 10 to 20 mph.

Monday Night Rain. Lows around 37.

Tuesday Rain. Highs around 41.

Tuesday Night Rain. Lows around 36.

Wednesday Rain likely. Highs around 41.

Wednesday Night Rain likely. Lows around 35.

Thursday Rain likely. Highs around 39.

Thursday Night Rain likely. Lows around 34.

Friday Rain likely. Highs around 39.

Predicting 4-6 inches of rain between today and Sunday evening with local areas getting up to 10 inches. If it was just a few degrees colder and this amount of moisture was snow, my snow-blower would give up and die.

Planned Parenthood Shooting Suspect Made Comment About ‘No More Baby Parts’: Sources

Robert Lewis Dear, a North Carolina native who was living in a trailer in Colorado, made statements to police Friday at the scene of the Colorado Springs clinic and in interviews that law enforcement sources described as rantings.

In one statement, made after the suspect was taken in for questioning, Dear said “no more baby parts” in reference to Planned Parenthood, according to two law enforcement sources with knowledge of the case.

In the early part, even the emergency responders were confused.
There was chatter about PP, the bank, the King Sooper grocery, the beauty salon.
They didn’t know if there was more than one shooter.
Lots and lots of initial confusion, but that’s not unusual. A good incident command will get it under control.
But nothing can really be done about media and the public listening to the scanner traffic and reporting/repeating it all as gospel.

re: #127 Eclectic Cyborg

Hey, Canadians are known for being polite and generous. :D

I can vouch for that. I used to manage a private mobile home park/campground in Spokane and we had what we called the “two C’s” as regular campers: Canadians and Californians. Canadians are polite, funny and visiting with their families, looking to get out and have some fun on their vacation. Californians came to camp and all too often they were ol’ farts with attitude that liked to do their best to make everyone around them miserable.

One perfect example was a Californian customer I will never forget, a Mrs. Solomon. Her and her husband had reservations, which was no problem. When customers made their camping reservations they were asked if they had been there before and if they had a preference for a particular site. Mrs. Solomon had not and did not so they were assigned the next open space, the number of which was given to them. A Canadian family had made a reservation too and they were regulars who had a site preference, which was open and so assigned to them.

The problem began when Mrs. Solomon arrived and unbeknownst to me, decided to instruct her husband to park in a spot of her choosing, which just happened to be the spot assigned to the Canadian family that would arrive that day. I saw the Solomon fifth-wheel arrive but assumed they were parking in the space they were assigned and would be up front to register when they were set up. The Canadian family arrived shortly afterward and stopped at the office to check in. They returned soon, stating that someone was already in their spot. When I checked and discovered that Mrs. Solomon had taken their spot, I didn’t even get a chance to say anything about how to resolve this when she informed me that they weren’t moving their rig because it was too much trouble. She told me to give them another open space and the Canadian couple even agreed to move to another space but at that point my inner mule kicked in.

I politely told the Solomons that they would have to move to their assigned space and she threw a fit, telling me that they were leaving and would never return. So they packed up and left in a huff and the Canadian family got the site they had requested. Later that evening I was invited to their site for a couple of shots of whiskey (a regular occurrence with visiting Canadians) and they got to laugh about it a bit more when I told them the rest of the story. At the moment we were tossing shots Mr. & Mrs. Solomon were camped out in an space that we sometimes used for overflow, right in front of the public restrooms. It seems she chose to throw a fit on the Fourth of July weekend and all of the other campgrounds were packed, no openings. So she came back and ‘humbly’ asked if their space was still available, which it was not. I really made it look like I was doing them a favor and set them up in front of the restrooms, which she was now grateful for…lol!

The Solomons never came back, the Canadians did and everybody was happy! ;)
