Planned Parenthood Shooting Suspect Told Police, “No More Baby Parts”

Planned Parenthood shooting suspect Robert Lewis Dear being taken into custody, Nov. 28, 2015

Somehow I knew it wouldn’t be long before this came out: Planned Parenthood Shooting Suspect Made Comment About ‘No More Baby Parts’: Sources.

The day after a gunman killed three people and shot nine others at a Colorado Planned Parenthood office, officials tell NBC News a motive remains unclear, but say the suspect talked about politics and abortion.

Robert Lewis Dear, a North Carolina native who was living in a trailer in Colorado, made statements to police Friday at the scene of the Colorado Springs clinic and in interviews that law enforcement sources described as rantings.

In one statement, made after the suspect was taken in for questioning, Dear said “no more baby parts” in reference to Planned Parenthood, according to two law enforcement sources with knowledge of the case.

This ends the debate; it’s a direct link to the deceptively edited videos created by David Daleiden and the Center for Medical Progress, and the outright lies constantly repeated by conservative media and blogs that Planned Parenthood “sells baby parts.”

Note that the words “baby parts” are in the titles of almost all of their videos.

Dear may be mentally disturbed, but we now know he was inspired by the lies and manipulative videos. And every conservative who helped spread these evil lies shares responsibility for this attack.

From last thread:

But the sources stressed that Dear said many things to law enforcement and the extent to which the “baby parts” remark played into any decision to target the Planned Parenthood office was not yet clear.

HAHAHA okay.

The amount of sheer #WeJustDontKnow being deployed in this case is simply amazeballs.

Oh that’s just him. It’s pretty typical for liberal democrat transgenders to dress as old mountain men and ramble about baby parts when they order their Starbucks in the morning.

What’s totally fucked up is that a fair number of those who helped spread this shit are elected members of the House and Senate as well as office holders at state and local levels. Let’s see how many of them STFU about this or double down like that dumbass Fiorina did. All of them need to be held to account for this and I would not be at all surprised if some of them are proud of this outcome.

This is never going to end because Republican politicians will keep on lying about Planned Parenthood and stonewall any meaningful legislation to prevent people like Dear from being armed. Sure people kill people but guns make it easier.

“…Planned Parenthood has said that the 15 staff members in the building at the time of the shooting were unharmed. Colorado Springs police chief Pete Carey was asked at a press conference on Saturday if in that light he could confirm the two civilians killed had been patients.

“I frankly just don’t know at this point, I’m sorry,” he said.

Carey said he expected the names of the victims to be released early on Monday, after autopsies are complete.

Forced birth was not always a Republican or conservative cause, not at all. Barry Goldwater was a founder of Planned Parenthood of Arizona and served on its board for the rest of his long life. His wife served as the organization’s president for many years.

THE GOLDWATER AWARD

Each year, Planned Parenthood Federation of America (PPFA) presents The Barry Goldwater Award to an outstanding public official who has supported Planned Parenthood and reproductive health issues.

This prestigious award is presented each year to an outstanding elected official who has acted as a leader within the Republican Party to protect women’s reproductive rights across the United States.

The award honors the late Arizona Senator Barry Goldwater, an outspoken leader in the Republican Party for decades. Senator Goldwater was a freethinking individual, who voted his conscience and was a leading voice in the Republican Party to ensure the rights granted to women following the Roe v. Wade decision.

The big shift started with the rise of the religious right in the 70s (which Goldwater famously despised) and the concurrent decision by evangelical leaders to make abortion a special for their own congregations, as it long had been for Catholics.

Prescott Bush was on the board as well and George H.W Bush was known as “Rubbers”. Birth control is just another reason why the Republican Party instead of progressing or evolving for the better has actually gotten worse.

They never will long as no one outside of a handful of Dem politicos (if any) and random dude on twitter holds their feet to the fire on this. MOre than likely, media and ‘very serious people’ will continue to play the ‘experts say planet round, opinions differ’ game absolving the GOP freakshows of consequence, while holding any and all Dem statements under the microscope for possible “anti-white” and/or “muslim sympathizer” inference.

The fix is forever in, and the GOPers who helped instigate this shit will again succeed as painting it as somehow a failure of Dems to ‘respect life’ and win the fucking day with public opinion again.

HOUSTON, Texas - Today, Presidential candidate Ted Cruz secured the endorsement of leading pro-life activist Troy Newman - a driving force in the recent effort to expose Planned Parenthood’s alleged sale of baby parts in a series of undercover videos. Newman is the President of Operation Rescue, one of the most prominent pro-life Christian activist organizations in the nation. He also serves as a Board Member for a number of pro-life groups including the Center for Medical Progress. In addition, Troy is the author of several books, including Refocusing the Pro-Life Movement for Victory and Abortion Free.

Newman deported from Australia:

Newman’s visa was cancelled after Labor MP Terri Butler wrote a letter to immigration minister Peter Dutton, citing concerns that Newman’s presence in Australia could prevent women from accessing reproductive healthcare.

“I am concerned that Mr Newman’s presence in Australia will cause significant harm to our community,” she wrote. “Mr Newman’s conduct may incite discord within the community and disrupt the ability of women to access lawful reproductive medicine.” She cited a passage from Newman’s 2000 book Their Blood Cries Out in which he says doctors who perform abortions should be executed, “in order to expunge bloodguilt from the land and people.”

That’s surprising. Most Rightwingers (aka Evangelicals) are as pro-Israel as they are pro-American (or so it seems).

They are pro-Israel existing so that Revelations can happen and they can all be saved.

They don’t actually give a shit about Israel or Jewish folks.

Kind of like they don’t give a shit about most Americans, so in that sense your statement is very accurate.

Some how, some way, there always has to be ‘balance’ now. No matter how fucked up the other side of a debate is that side ‘has to be considered.’

Hey lizards.

I posted last week about our dog Havoc, who we were afraid had cancer. He’s recovering nicely from surgery and is slowing becoming himself again. Tried to post a picture, but he doesn’t hold still for long. Was finally able to catch him resting and serving as a fluffy pillow for a couple of the other dogs. You may notice his right leg was shaved for inserting the IVs, etc. Anyway, we’re really happy that he’s recovering and getting back to his old, trouble-making self.

Havoc, the puppy pillow

Glad to know he’ll be ready to entertain the grandkids this Christmas!

Or will the media just ignore her insane rhetoric, along with all the other republican candidates on Planned Parenthood?

Like, let’s skip the “whether Jesus existed” part and say it’s not a problem and he probably did. (The chances that he didn’t are in the realm of possibility, but it’s not a debate worth having in this context).

Then the first hurdle is: how do we know Jesus ever said anything ascribed to him in the gospels? Yeah we don’t. They’re late hagiographies written by non-witnesses who plagiarized each other and freely invented details. So what did Jesus even say?

Then, even if we were to assume that the historical Jesus said all the same things as the gospel Jesus, he could still be a liar or a lunatic, or both. A lunatic doesn’t have to be a foam-at-the-mouth rabid crazy, it’s just someone who is truly deluded about being a Messiah. A liar could be a liar for the greater good. Etc., etc.

re: #135 Nyet

The problem with this is that it is very easy to place what Jesus is supposed to have said within the context of 1st Century Judaism. Some of his positions (divorce for ex) are on the fringe but most of the things he has to say are quite within the tradition he was born and raised in. Now, many Christians - then and now - make that hard to see with anti-Semitic readings of those sayings because of the turf fights that happened in the generation after Jesus death and the expulsion of the Christ followers from the synagogues.

You might find the works of Amy-Jill Levine to be of interest, especially the “Jewish Annotated New Testament” that she was editor of. Her “Misunderstood Jew” and “Short Stories by Jesus” are valuable as well. She is an Orthodox Jew who teaches the New Testament at Vanderbilt University.

Verisimilitude might have been a good argument if we were talking about a 5th century work.

As far as historical reconstruction is concerned, John is right out. He invents those long speeches.

That leaves us with Mark (whom Luke and Matthew plagiarize). Maybe also Q, but it’s purely hypothetical, and Goodacre makes a good case it never existed.

And Mark is first century. So the verisimilitude would be there, whether what the author described was truth, fiction or a mixture thereof.

The GOP has spent the last seven years since Obama’s election telling people to stock up on guns and ammo for the day when they have to start watering the Tree of Liberty with the blood of tyrants. This year they are telling them who the targets are: Planned Parenthood, African-Americans, Hispanics and Muslims. The two terrorist attacks this week are just the start.

Officials in Colorado have said they’re waiting for the autopsies to ID the victims right?
One possibility is they are waiting to determine possible the age of the two unidentified victims fetuses. And from there refer charges.
Not all clinic patients are there for abortions. Despite what the anti-choice crowd claim.

The whole point of these videos like the ACORN videos from O’Douche was to create this illusion that PP is a sinister and no good organization. It doesn’t matter if the videos are fake. If PP is discredited as an organization and forced to close down shop either due to fears of another shooting like this or because of fearing more right wing circuses like we saw with Ms. Richards, then they will have succeeded even. We can NOT allow that to happen. It was bad enough what happened to ACORN, a genuinely good organization that did a ton of good for poor urbanites.

The wingnuts need a boogeyman, something to be afraid of and to hate.

These videos were shot a couple of years ago and were released the weekend of SCOTUS’ ruling on gay marriage. It was a carefully timed airstrike to distract and redirect the rabid religious base.

What would our esteemed candidates have had to talk about at the stock show debates? “I AM AGAINST GAY MARRIAGE which is now legal”?

This shit was right out of a dictatorship’s propaganda playbook and the rubes went for it hook, line, and sinker. Probably the best $25K the GOP has spent in the last ten years, campaign-wise.

We are in waiting mode now. His attorney has until Dec. 4 to file his replies to Gawker’s latest motions to resolve the libel/defamation complaint. Then maybe the judge will make his ruling.

In the NAF v. CMP case, CCJ did appear for the depo, but did not fully comply with the subpoena, invoking the state’s reporter shield law. A hearing on that is scheduled for Dec. 23. Meanwhile, his buddy Daleiden has until Dec. 4 to comply with the judge’s orders to provide names of CMP associates and “contractors” to NAF’s attorneys. Daleiden has been trying to duck out of that part of discovery.

I’m still pretty convinced that the best case scenario for Chucky at this point, at least as relates to the Gawker case, is the judge just dismiss the case with prejudice and make clear to him and his lawyer buddy that if they darken his doorstep again, he will personally hang them by their entrails.

Yeah, sigh. Man these fuckwads will divert anything possible to get out of how their twisted ideology leads to these tragedies.

Has it been confirmed that the shooter is in fact trans? Even if the shooter is confirmed to be trans that does not automatically translate to being liberal or a Democrat. Katilyn Jenner is a prime example of a self identified conservative Republican. Jenner is the trans version of a Log Cabin Republican. Conservative voting LGBT folks exist, just like conservative voting women, African-Americans and Latinos. There are even LGBT pro-life groups. Political affiliation is diverse in the LGBT community like all other communities and groups. Too assume all LGBT people are liberal and vote Democratic is naive.
