Repeat from downstairs:
San Bernardino PD Chief: The facility has hundreds of employees, the building houses several county and state agencies.

It’s an odd target, unless one or more or the perps had some interaction with someone or something associated with it.

Fuck it all. I cannot reach my parents and if my Mom was going to San Bernardino to see the doctor, they are caught up in this shit.

Reading some places the target seemed to be a holiday party or meeting of County employees, who would not normally be at that facility.

If the meeting was the target, it was an easy way to get a lot of people without the usual security problems that might be present at other facilities.

They came in with a specific purpose.

Is it a case of the phone lines being jammed? I imagine networks must be pushing their capacity right now, since the first reaction anyone with loved ones in the area will have is to push the Dial button.

Terrorism in the traditional sense, the kind that scares wingers into wanting to ban people of a certain religion but not the kind like this done by someone who is in their demo group.

Maybe some anti-government nutjobs? Could be.

But as I said downstairs, the shooter(s) would’ve had to know that this event was being held at this facility. Would such an event be advertised publicly?

25
freetoken  Dec 2, 2015 • 2:13:39pm

It just strikes me as extra odd. My presumption is that one or more of the perps had something against one or more of the people who gathered there. But it’s still an odd selection of victims. This kind of sociopathy perhaps doesn’t fit easily into my way of thinking.

A Mom Anon  Dec 2, 2015 • 2:16:10pm

Not. Going to look at wingnut Facebook pages. Nope. Nope. Nope. I just unfollowed more people. At this rate I’ll have my husband, the kids, inlaws and maybe a couple of friends left on there. I have one friend with a new boyfriend who’s a gun nut. Every fucking weekend one of their dates is to the gun range and then she has to post pictures of her with a gun and her paper targets. She’s seriously thinking about posting those targets on her front door. So potential “attackers” know what a good shot she is. Goody. THEY ALSO NOW KNOW YOU HAVE GUNS THEY CAN BREAK IN AND STEAL. While your elderly mom who lives with you is home alone while you’re at work. Good thinking.

I’m in the middle of a deadline, just clicked on the news as I wait for some return emails & saw this, so I came here to post. Holy shit. I’m numb to it, but this is atrocious, this weekly occurrence. Sane people cannot keep letting this happen. I’d like to think we can put an end to it but has the other half of the US completely lost their minds to not at least talk about limiting sales of these murderous guns, even fucking now??? Have we literally snowballed that bad that we cannot reverse it? I regret ever giving a penny to the NRA back in the day. I’m very sad right now. Our country is sick. I don’t know what else to say other than my mumbling above.

Which honestly wouldn’t be out of line to ban honestly. I don’t get why people think they’re being rebellious by waving the CSA flag. You’re supporting a nation founded to protect slavery and the interests of a bunch of lazy white landowners who convinced a bunch of poor boys to fight their war. I know it sucks knowing that Great Great Grandpa didn’t fight for a noble cause. I’ve come to grounds that my great great grandfather the Union man was very likely not a racial egalitarian but he did fight a cause that allowed men to be free.

Only if the perps turn out to be Muslims, then there will be hearings galore as the GOP try to milk this tragedy for all they can in an election year, screaming that Obama allowed a terrorist attack on US soil. They’ll dance around, hooting that ISIS “isn’t contained,” that they’re right here on our doorstep, and that a Republican “never would have let this happen.” And they’ll make sure to continually pound Hillary with the attack, demanding she renounce this administration and its approach to terrorism or be seen as supporting “failure.”

The Trump celebration video thing is an amazing lesson if people are willing to see it. A whole entire reality was fabricated out of nothing right before everybody’s eyes in less than a week through the power of suggestion. Within days there are people talking about how Trump’s bloodline will last while his critics will die off… That was on Twitter, and recently posted here, can’t remember the exact quote..

One of the biggest militia shootouts of the 90s was a ‘robbery gone bad’. Heavily armed and armored RWNJs shot up a few city blocks after trying to rob a bank to fund the ‘revolution’.

You’re speaking of the North Hollywood shootout?

Three guys who seemed to target a specific group within the Inland facility. And came in with heavy arms, and escaped just as quickly.

Not your typical mass shooting. Closest parallels are the VA Tech shooter who engaged multiple targets in multiple locations, and Chris Dorner, a former cop.

But those involved a single individual. The VA Tech shooter ultimately died on the same day as the mass shootings. Dorner died after siege at a home he holed up in.

It would seem these shooters had training or at least some significant planning involved. Premeditated - terrorism. What kind? Wont know for sure until we find out who did it.

Literally grasping at straws here, but it sure looks like a .308 case:

Large caliber rifles are atypical for this kind of shooting, as are the multiple shooters and the apparent escape plan. The latter would militate against a Middle East connection. We shall see.

More broadly, GOP candidates don’t particularly seem interested to offering up solutions to any problems we currently face. Problems are hard, bogeymen are easy. They focus on the latter.

In many cases, GOPers actively seek to make problems worse, most likely to have more stuff to blame on Democrats/liberals.

131

The name “Farooq Saeed” was gleaned from San Bernardino police scanner traffic, which can be notoriously unreliable. Some were circulating an article from a website called WeaselZippers.com, which says it is “scouring the bowels of the Internet,” that said the suspect’s name ‘s “Farooq Saeed,” based on scanner traffic. Notorious hacker, “@Th3j35t3r,” also posted the name to his 70,000 followers.

The Trump celebration video thing is an amazing lesson if people are willing to see it. My problem with McCain started when he pretty much didn’t say much during the attacks on Kerry’s service record in 2004. Kerry had defended him in 2000. Interesting. The Amazing Bill Maher seems to have limited thinking regarding what describes a terrorist. How can such a smart man be like that? Maybe he really is just another bigot excusing his own issues.

I’d actually heard of Dramesi. He was featured on a history channel show I saw about POWs and escaping. He got very close to escaping the Hanoi Hilton although I’m sure he wouldn’t probably agree with me at all politically, a guy like that has my respect. My problem with McCain started when he pretty much didn’t say much during the attacks on Kerry’s service record in 2004. Kerry had defended him in 2000. I think McCain’s silence deeply hurt Kerry since he’s remarked that their friendship isn’t the same.

My problems with McCain go back a lot further (but then, I’m an old). Keating 5, his ugly treatment of his first wife, his disrespect for MIA families, his ongoing opportunism, etc.

I get that. But lets admit it applies to those that like to wear their religion like a badge of honor or something. Like the GOP candidates. OTOH there are millions of people that pray as an aspect of their faith not their ego. Or camera time or twitter statements. Quiet earnest prayer is cherished by the faithful as part of our religion. Jewish, Christian, Muslim, the list goes on.

It’s fine if you don’t think praying will do anything. It’s quite another if you’re in a position of power and all you do is offer up thoughts and prayers.

Take a candidate for President (or Congress, or a state legislature). If all you do is offer up thoughts and prayers - at a time when we see more than 30,000 killed by firearms every year, where there are mass shootings like clockwork, and 20,000+ commit suicide by firearms every year, that they can offer up absolutely nothing is a damning indictment of their incapability to protect and defend the nation from threats. Firearms are a threat. Inaction is a threat.

About Prayer: (I am not religious in the least, too much crap has happened to me and my family at the hands of “fine upstanding Christians” for me to care about religion. Show me who you are, don’t talk shit)

I think the actual purpose of prayer is to bring people together so they can then, after the prayers are said and done, begin to figure out all the things needed to help and solve problems. Support for those who grieve, food for those who hunger, shelter for those with no home, love for the unloved, and solutions to problems unsolved. If you think your duty as a Child of God is only to pray, then I would suggest you get one of those Bibles with Jesus’ words in red and study that for a LONG time before you offer your fucking prayers to another family who has suffered a loss like those today, and every other fucking day in this gun happy country.

ABC News has learned that National Republican Senatorial Committee executive director Ward Baker wrote a secret memo to top staff in late September on how to run their campaigns if the real estate mogul is at the top of the ticket, describing the current GOP frontrunner as “a misguided missile” who is “subject to farcical fits” and advising its candidates to avoid getting tied too closely to Trump.

“We should prepare for 2016 by understanding the environment and recognizing the Trump phenomenon,” Baker writes in the confidential memo. “Understand the populist point Trump makes and ride that wave.”

Eat Trump! It’s What’s For Dinner!

Although Republicans currently hold a slim majority in the U.S. Senate, the party needs to hold several competitive seats in order to maintain their majority. The brash real estate mogul’s candidacy, once thought to be fleeting by top establishment Republicans but now entering its fifth month atop national polls, has sparked widespread worry about a potential wipeout effect on down-ticket races if he becomes a nominee.

“Let’s face facts,” the memo reads. “Trump says what’s on his mind and that’s a problem. Our candidates will have to spend full time defending him or condemning him if that continues. And that’s a place we never, ever want to be.”

Pretty much applies to CNN no matter what story they’re covering. (What fabulous insight did Kurt Schlichter provide—last time I heard him mentioned, he was “standing by” to share pearls of wisdom with some CNN airhead or another.)

Thanks to all of you who are watching all of this so I don’t have to. I know (not personally, but have talked and/or emailed with) a lot of people who work in human service areas of San Bernardino County government because of projects I’ve been involved with. Big county, lot of poor people—human services folks, both government and non-profit orgs, work their asses off to try to help. If it was a county-wide holiday party, those folks had earned a little celebration. Ugh. I am sick to my stomach.

WWJD?

Yeah Bryan, what would Jesus do? I’m thinking he’d be tossing those guns out of the town hall meeting…and the money changer gun sellers with them.

re: #390 HappyWarrior

Interesting.

That’s an attempt to tie back to the Sayed stuff. Saw comments on Daily Kos early on that someone reported a county employee named Sayed getting upset and leaving work 30 minutes before the shooting.

And note that said upset person happens to have two accomplices ready to go, weapons on hand, the clothes, etc.

So it’s probably just more BS rumormongering.
