Trump Calls for Profiling Muslims

The rhetoric is now solidly in fascist territory
Politics • Views: 48,877

Donald Trump continues his campaign to exploit every bigoted right wing talking point and hateful meme: Trump: Islamic terrorism will get solved when Obama ‘gets the hell out’.

Republican presidential front-runner Donald Trump says the country’s “tremendous problem” with radical Islamic terrorism will get solved once President Barack Obama “gets the hell out” of office.

Trump slammed the president Sunday for not using the term “radical Islamic terrorism” to describe the terror attacks in Paris and this past week’s mass shooting in San Bernardino, California, hitting on a frequent Republican criticism of the Obama administration’s language used to describe terrorism.

“Until he admits that this is a problem, we’re never gonna solve the problem,” Trump said on CBS’ “Face the Nation. “But he’s only gonna be there, fortunately, a little bit more than a year. Because the problem will get solved when he gets the hell out.”

Trump also said he supported the idea of profiling in order to stop terrorism, arguing that people are being too politically correct with Muslims in the country when they don’t respond to red flags.

“I think there can be profiling,” Trump said. “If they thought there was something wrong with that group and they saw what was happening, and they didn’t want to call the police because they didn’t want to be profiling, I think that’s pretty bad. People are dead. A lot of people are dead right now. So everybody wants to be politically correct, and that’s part of the problem that we have with our country.”

And he did not rule out the idea of tracking Muslims in America.

“You have people that have to be tracked,” he said. “If they’re Muslims, they’re Muslims.”

This is the kind of sickening talk that’s made him the leading presidential candidate of the Republican Party.

This whole thing would be over if only Obama would say the words “radical Islamic terrorism”

Yes, “radical Islam,” which is different from regular Islam in ways that no wingnut who wants to use this BS talking point can actually articulate.

I hope that President Obama uses the term “radical religious terrorism” and brings up the Colorado Springs Planned Parenthood attack.

Trump is not even as good a businessperson as Paris Hilton.
“Paris Hilton only inherited $5 million, yet created a business empire valued around $1 billion by age 30.

Trump inherited over $200 million, and in decades of effort hasn’t even outperformed an index mutual fund.”

I had a very depressing Facebook argument with someone today. He posted a meme by some dude with a Confederate flag that said Kanye West threatened to leave the country because of racism, and the response was “bye bye”. I replied that having something like that as his avatar sort of proved Kanye’s point.

One of his Facebook friends chimed in and said “hey genius, the Confederate flag isn’t racist”. So I posted five or six sources which showed exactly how the flag was created as a defense of treason, slavery, and racism.

My friend posted something to the effect of “well, I’m a white, Christian, conservative man from Southern descent, and it’s rude to tell me who to be”.

And several of his other friends have chimed in, in agreement.

It’s times like this where I say that although I don’t agree with conservatism, if you have different ideas about government or taxes I can respect you and have a good debate about it. But I don’t think a person can be good and decent and also a racist or a bigot. That’s not a difference of opinion. That’s just unmitigated evil.

Sometimes I weep for how shitty people are. All over the world, bigotry and xenophobia are taking root and causing pain and destruction and I have no idea how to stop it when otherwise normal people have such darkness within them.

Sometimes you just have to say fuck it and walk away. It sucks, but that’s just the way it is. There is a difference between those you can wake, those who in a real way you can save the soul of, and those you can’t. Your former friend appears to be in the latter camp.

CNN headline on one of their wire feeds:

“Obama to address nervous Americans on terror”

I’m not nervous. I refuse to be manipulated by the fear-industry.

I know full well how most Americans die.

I will probably die of “natural” causes.

If not, the likely agent of my demise will be:
1) an automobile being driven by someone under the influence of a chemical;
2) an automobile being driven by an idiot;
3) some unhinged American with a gun.

The chance of me being killed by a terrorist attack in my lifetime is like one in a million, right down there with dying in a plane crash.

I’m not nervous and neither is the nation in spite of what people say.

I know by definition that the CA attack was terrorism but the nation isn’t freaking out because it was a guy gunning down his co-workers and we have grown numb to that (THANKS NRA!)

Michael Smerconish, columnist for the Philadelphia Inquirer, had a piece today talking about George Takei and his new play Allegiance, which deals with his experience in the concentration camps the US set up during WW2 for Japanese-Americans.

I found this kind of amusing, because Smerconish co-wrote a book with Arlen Specter years go called Flying Blind, which is basically a plea for profiling Muslims at airports because, ya know, those people.

From what I can tell, Smerconish has pulled his humanity out of the hermetically sealed pick jar he’s kept in since 2005, and suddenly gets that profiling people based on religion is a bad fucking idea.

I know Smerconish’s shtick these days is “Hey, I’m a moderate Republican who voted for Obama! Can I have a job, MSNBC?”; and I don’t want to scare away any Republicans from backing off the bigotry that’s a core principle for their party these days

However, part of me is like, “Fuck you, asshole. You helped create all of this.”

How The NRA Hinders The ATF Director Confirmation Process

[Congressional Quarterly: NRA-Backed Legislation Created Senate Confirmation Requirement For ATF Director. According to CQ, the gun rights lobby stood to benefit from a provision inserted into the 2006 reauthorization of The Patriot Act by then-House Judiciary Chairman F. James Sensenbrenner Jr. (R-WI), requiring the Senate to confirm ATF directors. No director has been confirmed since this requirement went into effect:]

I think he is very, very wrong. No comparrison at all. I’m not feeling a vibe that anyone is scared at all and I just got back from a cram filled mall.

btw, as long as ISIS copies the attacks that the NRA has gone out and fought to make sure will continue then they know they have a lobbyist in DC to help them out. They’re not stupid.

I feel ya. As I’ve said before, I’m dealing in this shit in northern, allegedly blue state NJ. I can only imagine what’s it like south of the Mason-Dixon line.

I was giving a Facebook friend of mine some shit for tolerating the Trump heads on his feed. These people are basically Jim Hoft lite. I told him straight out that he should consider thinning his herd a bit. I hate offering that advice, because it dips into the whole “I’m cutting you out of my life because of politics” territory.

Here’s the thing, though: IMO, anyone who is supporting Trump has got something wrong with them. This guy is literally stoking up some Nazi-level shit for personal gain. That’s where I draw the line.

And to be honest, your “South’s gonna do it again!” buds? Cut ‘em. I’ve got relative like that, and with that mindset, support of the Confederate flag is probably the least offensive thing they’re saying.
