Video: White House Spokesman Josh Earnest Calls Out Donald Trump

“Carnival barker routine”
Politics • Views: 60,461
Credit: ObserverArt

Today, Josh Earnest pulled no punches calling out Donald Trump’s fascist call to ban all Muslims from entering the United States, saying it “disqualifies him from serving as president.”

What he said is disqualifying and any Republican who’s too fearful of the Republican base to admit it has no business serving as president either.

Earnest also described Trump’s style as a “carnival barker routine.” Which is pretty accurate, if the carnival barker also has a little Hitler mustache.

I think ridicule is probably the most effective weapon against Trump. The man cannot tolerate insults to his ego. He is now probably going to say something very stupid.

A Trump loving coworker of mine just said “I have no problem with Muslims, I just don’t want them in this country.”

This was during an offsite lunch. I nearly laid into him but I didn’t want to cause an “HR issue”.

Muslim anti-radicalism activist detained in Texas because airline passengers thought he looked scary

A Muslim anti-radicalization advocate was detained by authorities after landing at Houston’s Hobby Airport because other passengers on his flight from Newark thought he looked suspicious.

According to ABC News, Dr. Bilal Rana is an anesthesiologist who was returning home to Houston after a conference in New Jersey when he was taken into custody and interrogated.

Rana — who is the president of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Youth Association, a youth group that seeks to prevent Muslim teens from embracing radicalism — said that he believes another passenger profiled him based on his appearance and acted out of fear. Flight crew deactivated the wireless Internet on his flight from Newark and he was greeted by the FBI on landing.

We are going to see a lot more of this.

re: #2 Testy Toad T

Every one of the candidates in the race is possibly hoping the other will sacrifice themselves to call out Trump, except all of them need Trump’s voters if they have any chance of winning. Trump has set the tone of the conversation - and if you challenge him on the facts, logic, or substance, Trump claims they’re acting PC or worse.

So, Trump is completely controlling the shape of the discussion.

Complicating matters is that the GOP rank and file believe the same things Trump is saying - so the problem goes much deeper than Trump. It’s the GOP that is divorced from facts and reality. We see it time and again - whether its creationism and pushing that agenda into science classrooms or climate change and global warming or Benghazi and foreign policy or immigration and deportations or Muslim refugees. Or 9/11-related events.

And since we’ve already seen his supporters get physically violent imagine what might happen at a dem rally.

Puerto Rican With 300 Twitter Accounts Accused of Harassment

A Puerto Rico man accused of creating 300 Twitter accounts to harass people online has been arrested in the first case of its kind for the U.S. territory, authorities said Tuesday.

The island’s Justice Department said 27-year-old Omar Falcon Torres is suspected of operating under the name “MedeaBot” for two years. He faces charges that include stalking, misappropriation of identity and intimidating witnesses in part by sending people “violent sexual imagery” and using violent language, authorities said.

A judge in September issued a warrant for Falcon, who was arrested late Monday at a relative’s house in the central mountain town of Comerio.

CCJ and Zimmerman should pay attention. Assholery can get you arrested.

So now CNN has a paid Trump supporter on its payroll….

News outlets have busied themselves securing opinions on Donald Trump’s call for a “shutdown” against Muslims entering the United States. Politicians, commentators and other elites have pretty uniformly trashed the idea, sending all manner of scoffing in its direction.

Yet CNN managed to corral one committed backer. He happens to be on CNN’s payroll, too.

Commentator Jeffrey Lord this morning delivered a pro-Trump viewpoint on CNN’s “New Day.” “I am utterly astounded here,” said Lord. Astounded not by Trump’s insane proposal, but by the backlash. Lord cited three presidential proclamations of President Franklin D. Roosevelt, including “Alien Enemies — Japanese” (No. 2525); “Alien Enemies — German (No. 2526).” Lord noted that these proclamations instituted tight limits on such people, who were “liable to be apprehended, restrained, secured, and removed as alien enemies.”

And this was the work of revered President Roosevelt, noted Lord. So why are people criticizing Trump? “We have been here before… . We need to focus on the fact that Franklin Roosevelt was Donald Trump on steroids, and everybody thinks FDR is a great president,” said Lord.

At that point, “New Day” co-host Alisyn Camerota noted that FDR’s proclamations were aimed at hostile nations in World War II and said the United States is not at war with Muslims at large. “We’re at war with radical Islam,” said Lord.

Yes they will. There is not a one of their candidates that is willing to take the bullets for the party. If anyone will, it will be Graham once he realizes he has nothing to lose. He is of the age he may never run again and can say fuck it. Maybe Kasich, but he may fear the backlash from the idiots here in Ohio.

No, he’s not Jonah. The GOP is in thrall with extremists and the entire slate of WH pretenders is pushing an extremist agenda. Trump surpassed Jeb and Cruz on the anti-Muslim/Islamophobia hysteria front with a more audacious proposal. But the rest of the party is falling in line behind them (and Trump). And many more GOPers don’t think it goes nearly far enough.

That’s on the GOP, not Trump. Trump’s just publicly going out there with this. The rest of the field is more circumspect.

Oh, and this is the clincher for why Trump isn’t yanking anyone’s chain. The rest of the GOP field still stands by their pledges to support Trump if he wins the nomination - and Trump still leads on that front too.

McClane was a NYPD cop, so he had at least some kind of training in various real-world scenarios, as opposed to target practice in static environment. Even then, the LAPD wanted him to do nothing, since it could jeopardize the other hostages.

You’re right though. All the gun nuts think that they’re McClane. Even though odds are most of them would end up dead or seriously injured, and their firearms in the hands of the attacker. Or injure or kill others in the room with them not the attacker.

I wish people would stop using this outdated stereotype of a useless elected office. In most communities animal control officers are trained professionals, not elected, who have training, skill and experience dealing with wildlife and domestic animal situations. “Dogcatchers” are much more useful than most politicians.

I think he is yanking everyone’s chains. Yes, the GOP base believes it and accepts it. And yes, the other candidates are so afraid of losing the base that they refuse to call out Trump…or if they do call him out they do it as pathetically as possible (see Jeb!) so it’s all forgotten or at worst forgiven if they survive the primary.

But Trump himself doesn’t believe this shit…nobody in their right mind could.

re: #82 lawhawk

McClane was a NYPD cop, so he had at least some kind of training in various real-world scenarios, as opposed to target practice in static environment. Even then, the LAPD wanted him to do nothing, since it could jeopardize the other hostages.

You’re right though. All the gun nuts think that they’re McClane. Even though odds are most of them would end up dead or seriously injured, and their firearms in the hands of the attacker. Or injure or kill others in the room with them not the attacker.

And he gladly would’ve done nothing if the LAPD folk weren’t gun-ho idiots.

I still love Die Hard because of how it flips the script. Villains are intelligent, magazines aren’t bottomless, and the macho gun-ho crap runs into the problems it would usually find against well planned surprise.

In other words, their McClane would survive a lot shorter than the actual McClane.

I think Cruz gets hammered on just overall likability. The man is a complete turn-off to anyone with a brain and a gram of compassion and humanity.

Rubio is more difficult, but I think he would get hit hard in a debate when he would have to think quickly. He has a hard time with being off the cuff.

Rubio has a hard time being spontaneous because you need to be smart to do it effectively and (at least from where I’m sitting) he’s a bit dim.

All of the Dem candidates are fast on their feet, as was demonstrated during the forum with Rachel Maddow.

I agree that just about nobody on either side (except, of course, the Rage Furby) likes Cruz.

One of the key features of H.R. 158, or the Visa Waiver Program Improvement Act of 2015, is that it adds “terrorism risk” as a factor for evaluating whether a foreign traveler should be allowed in the country.

The House bill, introduced by Rep. Candice Miller (R-MI), also gives the Secretary of Homeland Security the ability to suspend a country from the program, without prior notice, “if the country fails to comply with an agreement to share information regarding whether its citizens and nationals traveling to the United States pose a U.S. security threat.”

snip

Under the new bill, visitors from waiver countries would have to go through the visa process if they had recently been to Iraq, Iran, Syria or Sudan.

re: #237 HappyWarrior

Menard. I’ve heard that name here before.

Menards has been involved in a number of incidents concerning environmental regulations, including:

Wisconsin DNR officials have cited Menards at least 13 times since 1976 for ignoring or violating state regulations related to air and water pollution and hazardous waste.[8]

In 1994, Wisconsin obtained a civil judgment against Menards for the unlicensed transportation and disposal of ash produced by incinerating “CCA”-treated lumber. Wood treated with CCA contains chromium, copper, and arsenic - both chromium VI and arsenic are categorized by the US EPA as carcinogens. It is considered hazardous waste and requires proper disposal in a licensed landfill. The company was fined $160,000.[8]

In 1997, John Menard was found using his personal pickup truck to haul plastic bags of chromium and arsenic-laden wood ash to his home for disposal with his household trash. Menard pleaded no contest to felony and misdemeanor charges involving records violations, unlawful transportation, and improper disposal of hazardous waste. Menard and his company were fined $1.7 million for 21 violations.[8]

In 2003, the Minnesota attorney general charged that Menards manufactured and sold arsenic-tainted mulch in packaging labeled “ideal for playgrounds and for animal bedding.” Warning labels from the CCA-treated wood were found in the mulch. The EPA recommends that CCA-treated wood not be converted into mulch. As of 2008 the case was still pending.[8]

In 2005, Menards agreed to a $2 million fine after Wisconsin DNR officials found a floor drain in a company shop that they believed was used to dump paint, solvents, oil and other waste into a lagoon that fed into a tributary of the Chippewa River. The sanction broke the previous record fine of $1.7 million set by Menard in 1997.[8]

In 2006, the construction of a $112 million warehouse became a campaign issue in the Wisconsin governor’s race. The warehouse was to be erected by filling in a 0.6-acre (0.24 ha) bean field the DNR considered a seasonal wetland used by migrating tundra swans. Menards offered to build a wetland more than twice its size as a replacement, but was rejected by Scott Humrickhouse, a DNR regional director. Humrickhouse said that solution could be used “only when every alternative for saving the original wetland was exhausted.” The increasingly heated dispute got considerable media coverage, with a DNR warden calling Menards’ general counsel a “legal bitch” and the company threatening to move jobs out of Wisconsin. Tempers seemed to cool after Gov. Jim Doyle arranged $4.2 million in state aid to help the company expand its Eau Claire manufacturing headquarters. Menard had previously contributed $20,000 to Doyle’s campaign.[8]

In 2006, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency issued an administrative order against Menards for damaging a stream in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, that ran through its property by placing a 66-inch storm sewer pipe on the stream for 1,350 linear feet and filling over top soil.[8][9]

They have to advertise on Limbaugh’s show.

Arends appears to be a scam artist.

Veterans group hosting Republican candidate Donald Trump lost nonprofit status

The group’s chairman, Joel Arends of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, said the organization was appealing the IRS decision. He would not provide AP with copies of any tax returns, which would show how much money the group has collected over the years and how it spends its money. By law, such records are supposed to be available to the general public for inspection.

I don’t know if this has been posted anywhere, but I doubt you will see anything more fantastic on the topic of The Donald. From the first Muslim Congresscritter, Keith Ellison (D-MN):

My response to Donald J. Trump calling for an end to Muslim immigration:
Most people know more about what keeps our country strong than the leading Republican presidential candidate. Donald Trump should reread the words of our Constitution about religious freedom and tolerance. Do we really want someone who doesn’t understand our values speaking to the world on our behalf?
The President is supposed to bring everyone together, not divide through hateful rhetoric and fear mongering about an entire religion.
The fact that Donald Trump is leading in the Republican Presidential primary polls should raise deep concerns about where Republicans want to lead our country.
Demagogues like Trump appeal to the worst in people. They have never been celebrated in our history books - from Joseph McCarthy on.
Americans know that we are braver and better than this.

Trump locks up the Nazi vote.

“Heil Donald Trump - THE ULTIMATE SAVIOR.”

That’s what Andrew Anglin, publisher of the neo-Nazi website Daily Stormer, had to say in response to Republican presidential hopeful Donald Trump’s call for a “total and complete shutdown of Muslims entering the United States.”

“Finally: someone speaks sense,” Anglin wrote, pasting Trump’s new proposal under the headline “Glorious Leader Calls For Complete Ban on All Moslems.”

“Make America White Again!” his post concludes.

We say that to mock and pillory Trump; the neo-Nazis say it because they’re fucking serious.

I saw this guy playing this following tune at an acoustic night in Glasgow (Monday nights in Nice ‘n’ Sleazys, hosted by Gerry Lyons), and it appeared on a subsequent official CD of regular artists from the night. (Which I also have.) I found this Youtube vid of the song, which appears to be a fairly contemporaneous live record of the song in his flat:

None.

The most we’ll get is mild disagreement, complete with that pleading look of ‘Please don’t hurt me for saying this, Mr. Trump.’

As scared as the occupants of the Klown Kar are of Muslims, it’s nothing compared to the fear of being called out by Trump and not being able to get some of those votes after Trump bails (if he does end up bailing).

Former U.S. Senate candidate Annette Bosworth blamed bad legal advice from her former attorney for the 12 election law felonies she is now facing.

In a news conference Wednesday at her medical office, Bosworth’s spokesman said Joel Arends told her to submit petitions she had falsely sworn were signed in her presence.

Kasich will go after him for sure. I think that will be the build up to Kasich’s last stand. He’ll say he isn’t afraid of a jerk bully like Trump. Then comes New Hampshire where he will bow out of the race if he doesn’t some way come way up in the polls. He has put a lot of his effort there and not so much Iowa.

I said earlier today, it comes down to if Kascih wants to piss off the Ohio Trump fans as he will still be governor of this state for a few years. I also think the Ohio and National GOP will want Kasich to push for Rob Portman to keep his seat in the senate next year, so they may make him dance to keep as many Ohioan RWNJs on board in what is looking to be a very tight race.

But if Kasich decides he is gonna go super-prick he will unload on The Trump and be nasty at it. He has that streak in him.

Conservatives do seem to have a habit of doublethinking their opposition, don’t they?

Obama is a weak nimby pimby nancy boy who is ALSO an evil scheming mastermind. Hispanics are lazy goodfornothings who want to mooch AND they’re here to take jobs away from hardworking white people. ISIS “agents” or whatever have enough resources, dedication, and planning to cause many more WTC-level attacks AND they’re too dumb or incompetent to blend 20 dudes in with the thousands and thousands of southern-border undocumented immigrants or just, like, lie or do something else clever.

I guess it’s easy to maintain mutually inconsistent worldviews when you never bother to actually try to think about anything or adjust beliefs based on new facts.

I have this idea, it’s such a great idea, you’re gonna love it. You will have such a great life living at this idea. No, I can’t show it to you now.

Oh, well, one of your neighbors keeps hamsters. Very clean animals, but sometimes they escape. They’re harmless! Cute like fuzzy bunnies.

Well, there is another advantage to having high real estate prices; it keeps out the riff-raff. I mean, would you want to live next to those people?

I’m pretty sure he did what he thought was best, but clearly the two of them needed more help than they got.

Can you appreciate how impressive a life sentence is when you’re 91?

High school auto shop classes suck up cars like that.

Don’t think they do those anymore hereabouts.

Somebody gave us $300 for it, bad clutch and all.

I sold my 2000 Focus with a blown head gasket for 500. Went to Tijuana most likely & is cranking more miles as we speak I would bet.

I loved that car. I named it Brad.

A local school took a newish beater, and turned it into an ADA accomodation trainer for a orthopedic rehabilitation clinic.

Or that baritone with the annoying tremolo.

There’s a ‘rock’ version that’s even worse.

It was produced by a departed friend of mine, Peppi Marchello from Long Island’s legendary Good Rats.

That didn’t save it. Peppi was talented, but his version sucked, too.

But if Kasich decides he is gonna go super-prick he will unload on The Trump and be nasty at it. He has that streak in him.

And you and I both know, he’s been dying to show that side of himself all along. It’s really Kasich’s sweet spot!

What’s the current rip off toy of the season that everyone must have?

There’s one every year.

If you go by my great-nieces, it’s Lego sets (in the new “for girls” shades.) Not that they’re spoiled, but their wish lists include about 15 different configurations and probably think they’re getting all of them.
