Stupidest Man on the Internet Fails Again, Falls for “Daesh” Hoax

Yes, again
Wingnuts • Views: 49,860

We begin the week with yet another tale of fail from the legendary Stupidest Man on the Internet, Jim Hoft (aka Gateway Pundit), who loves to jump all over fear-mongering stories even (or especially) if they come from British tabloids: TERROR ATTACK: Islamist Goes on Stabbing Rampage in Paris Screaming, “This Is For Daesh!”

TERROR IN PARIS— A hooded Islamist went on a stabbing rampage today while screaming, “This is for Daesh!” Express.co reported:

POLICE in Paris say a teacher has been stabbed by a masked man shouting ‘This is for Daesh’, the alternative name for Islamic State.

From Gateway Pundit, the story immediately spread throughout the right wing blogosphere and is now part of the sacred wingnut history of fear.

But you can probably see where this is headed; as so often happens with Jim’s hyperbolic paranoid “reports,” it turns out the French teacher made the story up.

A teacher at a French preschool who said he had been stabbed by a man shouting “Islamic State” has admitted he made the story up, prosecutors say.

The teacher said he had been attacked while alone in a classroom in Aubervilliers, a suburb of Paris.

But prosecutors said he had wounded himself with a box cutter and was now being questioned as to why he lied.

You shouldn’t expect an update or a retraction from Hoft now that the story’s been exposed as a hoax; that’s just not how the SMOTI rolls.

UPDATE at 12/14/15 12:32:00 pm by Charles Johnson

It’s the start of a new era! Amazingly, Jim Hoft has posted one of his almost unheard-of updates!

Update: Paris Teacher Lied about ISIS Stabber Screaming, “This Is For Daesh!” - The Gateway Pundit

UPDATE— The Paris-area teacher lied about the Islamic State militant attack today. It didn’t happen.

Daesh is a very negative term and the fanatics of ISIL would never claim to be attacking someone under that name.

This, so very much. It’s also part of why I cannot understand why politicians and media go along with the ISIS/ISIL name bit - that’s not their name, but what they WANT to be, and be called, so why give them something they want?

Yep. Quoting another source:
IS fighters and leaders hate the word - it’s an Arabic acronym of “al-Dawla al-Islamiya fi Iraq wa ash-Sham” - meaning the Islamic State of Iraq and al-Shams - but when spoken Daesh sounds similar to the Arabic words translating to “the sowers of discord” (Dahes) or “one who crushes underfoot” (Daes). IS threatened “to cut the tongue of anyone who publicly used the acronym Daesh, instead of referring to the group by its full name”.

Only way to insult them more would be to call them Daeshbags.
Which I do :3

Who cares if it didn’t actually happen? The point is that Muslims might do that and therefore we should something, something, something…

I agree about the curtains: who wants a pair of curtains that look like they’re blood-splattered?

It looks especially unnerving from a webcam perspective.

You know, if The Onion did a story 5 years ago containing the text “Theodore Shoebat hopes President Trump will create a “Christian supremacist” society where Muslims are put to death”, I imagine most people would say it was over the top in parody terms.

Most excellent description yet.

At what point does Hilary, Bernie or some network anchor just stop in their tracks and say “WTF is up with all this fear? When did we turn into a nation of total sissies? ISIS is a bunch of yahoos in pickup trucks. The most they can do is what in WWII was referred to as ‘pinprick attacks’. We lost more Americans to one Nazi artillery shell, one Japanese torpedo, than we have to Islamic terrorist attacks in the last 15 years. Now knuckle up, you fucking alleged GOP he-men! Stop acting like a bucha goddam fraidycats already!”

Someone has to go Gunnery Sgt. Hartman on these spineless weasels.

Hang on, is that for real? I’m noting the daily aspirin and statins mentioned in the letter. Over this side of the pond, you usually only get that if you’ve had some heart trouble, like a heart murmur, or mild angina.

I was watching the discussion on Libya being “lost” yesterday, did a little reading, and found that ISIS has maybe 2000 fighters in the whole country.

Back from the contract job interview I commented on in the last thread. The interview seemed to go well. I think I demonstrated I am more than qualified for the position. I did everything I could to act like a regular dude. So, we await the results. I don’t think they are interviewing a ton of people, so that’s good.

And thanks for all the upding well wishes from the Lizard folks. I can use them and will continue to use them.

Oh yeah, it is very very corporate. I’ve never worked for a yoooooge Fortune 100 company. I guess I feel good that I am being considered. I’ll feel a whole lot better if I get the position!

And now I feel tired because I was so stressed out prior to the interview. Didn’t sleep too well last night. Might need a quick nap.
