All LAUSD schools closed by ‘credible threat’ of violence:

Officials closed all Los Angeles Unified School District campuses Tuesday morning after receiving a “credible threat” of violence involving backpacks and packages left at campuses.

Authorities said they plan a search operation of all the LAUSD’s more than 900 schools. The nation’s second-largest school district has more than 700,000 students.

If they’d just allow guns in schools, they could stop this bomb threat.

How many schools still have lockers? Granted, I was in Orange County but my junior high did away with lockers in 90 (before I started), and my high school dropped them in 94. They claimed it was a safety and population issue.

Is it me or does this whole thing stink to high heaven?

I have some information about an impending attack on the LAUSD! I just better email one member of the school board and let them know!

Where did kids put their coats & books? Just haul them around from class to class?

re: #9 The Vicious Babushka

In junior high we had books we kept at home and each classroom had a set. In high school, they didn’t do that so we had to carry everything (I was on the water polo team so I had two lockers in the locker room (wet and dry) and used one for books). As for coats, it was Southern California so you just wore them if you had them, plus it wasn’t a fully enclosed campus (we pretty much had to go outside between every class)

Heavy backpacks in the ‘80’s caused spinal and joint stress that is affecting many middle-aged adults.

The GOP claim President Obama is “untrustworthy” because he has a “D” after his name. Face it, this country is in a much better place today than it was 7 years ago. His policies haven’t adversely affected GOP voters or the American people as a whole. Unlike the GOP, President Obama doesn’t alienate the public. President Obama criticizes republican politicians, but doesn’t take swipes at all conservative voters unlike the GOP who belittle liberals and progressives on a daily basis. Anyone that actually supports, defends, and votes for the GOP is untrustworthy because they are fooling themselves in believing republicans are a better choice.

When I was earning my living driving a large car, I was at a pickup in Elkhart Indiana at a vinyl extrusion factory. I backhauled there almost weekly and knew the receivers and lower management guys well. One day I’m there on the dock and all the people on the lines are walking out, and the head receiver comes over to me and says “Come with me and” and the rest I didn’t pick up. I asked where we were going and he said he was told to walk around and look for anything out of the ordinary because someone phoned in a bomb threat. I thanked him for his consideration of me knowing what a bomb would look like. I asked him if we got clues, as in is it bigger than a bread box. We both figured it was bogus, and some disgruntled former employee or jilted lover just wanted to ride by and see a hundred people standing in 15 degree windy weather. After about 45 minutes everything went back to normal. Different times. I recall quite a few bomb threats out around Bristol, Middlebury and Elkhart Indiana back in the mid 90’s. No big deal, and I don’t even know what the Sheriff or State Patrol did. Half of them were never even reported in the papers or radio. Happened many times just at that factory and a few others I picked up at.

RICK SCOTT JUST ‘SAVED’ MILLIONS BY KICKING 9,000 SICK AND DISABLED KIDS OUT OF FL HEALTHCARE SYSTEM

The plan was unearthed by the Miami Herald, who received thousands of pages of documents under the state’s public records law, including nearly 800 emails and hundreds of memos and reports from the health department that detailed the state’s plan to “restructure” Children’s Medical Services (CMS). The “restructuring,” part of a plot to spend less on the children of Florida, was hatched at a time that the state was laboring under the onus of a $635.4 million surplus.

re: #90 blueraven

I think he was insinuating someone said it to the Trump crowd as an insult. He questions why a white supremacist would “cartoonishly” out himself. But he is certainly aware of the appeal and support of Trump from White Supremacists.

Maybe…maybe not.

It’s really rather unimportant whether or not the “Sieg Heil” was uttered by a troll, an actual white supremacist, or something else. What matters is the Trump campaign’s reaction to such activity at rallies like this, and so far, it’s ranged from silent consent to encouragement. That’s the problem.

I just think the “Light the mother** on fire” is more likely to come from a supporter than the Sieg Heil. Most Trump supporters deny that they have a connection to Nazis or fascism, I believe they think that when they see that in the media it’s just hyperbole, or the left wing being the left wing.

Yeah. That is why there have been links put up by Charles from crazy ass Neo-Nazi and White supremacists groups loving Trump so much. Do you think those people would love to go to a Trump event and act out? Do you think Trump would have his people around in the crowd looking for them and asking them to leave? Or, would he be fine with just a bit more passion from his passionate supporters.

Missing deadlines (either the December 4 or 14th, depending on whether you buy into his claim that the deadline on record was wrong)? The court’s not going to be happy about that. But it does make it easier for the court to take action against Chucky. It wont be pretty.

I don’t know his specific context, but I did exactly that last weekend though it was in answer to a troll of sorts. A right leaning friend who insists Trump is a fool who does not represent the GOP in spite of all evidence to the contrary said he “had a point” WRT “the Muslims”. He then started on Muslim hate that I put a quck stop to with “sieg heil.” Pissed him off big but was effective.

Ah, those poor delicate Republican grassroots flowers:

The RNC has been pushing networks to partner with conservative media outlets for the debates in order “to make sure the concerns of grassroots Republicans are addressed.”

Tonight’s debate is no exception, with CNN including Salem Radio commentator Hugh Hewitt among the panelists. Hewitt, who served as an official in the Reagan administration, was a panelist for CNN’s September debate, and is scheduled to be part of the third CNN debate in March.

In addition, NBC had partnered with National Review and ABC with the conservative IJ Review. Fox News, whose conservative credentials are well established, does not have a partner and reportedly “fought the RNC’s partner requirement and ultimately prevailed.”

The RNC issues demands, and the feckless “liberal” media complies. Spit.

I think the supremacists are usually more interested in white power than they are in being Nazis. I’m not saying a Trump supporter wouldn’t shout it, just that I don’t think Dave Weigel was out of line with his tweet. My gut feeling is that protesters or more inclined to think “Nazi” than the white power people. I also feel that that white supremacists are also more likely to disguise their feelings in public. They may wave a confederate flag in public to blend in with rednecks but shouting Sieg Heil sort of makes them stand out. They also know that it doesn’t help their boy Trump politically.

You may very well be right, though I’m not sure how you came to your conclusion about what they truly do or don’t believe. That said, from where I’m sitting (as the direct target of their hatred & fear) it doesn’t really matter because doesn’t make the trajectory they’re on any less dangerous. For me, personally. I’m pretty sure those thousands (hundreds of thousands?) of people that made up cheering, adoring crowds Hitler addressed didn’t think they were bad people, they just wanted to save the homeland from the Jewish, Roma, gay, etc. menace.

2. The United States should lead the immediate formation of - and provide substantial advisory, financial and military support to - a military coalition in the Middle East to wage war against ISIS. Such a regional coalition would consist of countries such as Egypt, Saudi Arabia and Jordan.

3. The United States should urge its allies and partners in the Middle East to engage in massive recruitment and training of Sunni Syrian men based in Saudi Arabia and the Gulf and of Sunni Syrian male refugees in Jordan - to establish a military force to destroy ISIS and to establish a protection zone for the victims of the terrorist state.

4. The United States should deploy its military resources and work with moderate Arab nations - as well as extend strategic support to Kurdish, Christian and Sunni tribes in the free al-Hasakah Province in northeast Syria - to establish a refugee safe zone in the Province. All refugees should be directed to that free area and to other liberated areas later, and be put under international protection.

5. Congress should immediately establish a war-time emergency visa and immigration policy; establish an emergency inter-agency task force to review all visa and immigration policies; and limit visitor visas to three months with mandatory check-ins for extensions no longer than three months.

6. President Barack Obama and Congress should immediately deploy the National Guard and military troops to patrol the U.S. southern border as well as designated spots along the northern border.

7. The Department of State should designate the Muslim Brotherhood and other organizations that propagate or support Islamic terrorism as terrorist organizations, and fully investigate the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) as an offshoot of the Muslim Brotherhood and a supporter of terrorism.

I agree that these people know know they’re playing with fire. In addition to the supporters I meet, I have also seen the videos of them on tv. If there were hard core Nazis, you can bet they would be up front and center and featured on the broadcast. I’m not denying their existence, but I’m arguing that most of them are people who think we’re being overrun and need a savior.

Carson Outlines Plan to Protect America; Calls for Declaration of War Against ISIS
The plan calls for the following actions to be taken.

1. Congress should immediately issue a formal declaration of war on the Islamic State, which is also known as ISIL or ISIS.

That’s what the President requested during the SOTU more than 300 days ago, and the GOP led Congress has refused to budge on debating, let alone voting on an AUMF.

2. The United States should lead the immediate formation of - and provide substantial advisory, financial and military support to - a military coalition in the Middle East to wage war against ISIS. Such a regional coalition would consist of countries such as Egypt, Saudi Arabia and Jordan.

Already being done. Operation Inherent Resolve.

Taking 3 and 4 together, since they are at cross purposes. It also ignores that Daesh also specifically targets Shi’ites. Jordan and other US coalition partners have a force in existence that is meant to go after Daesh. That’d be the respective national military forces operated by each of those nations. Creating a new army from scratch from refugees and those fleeing? Sounds great, except you’d have to vet those to make sure Daesh hasn’t infiltrated (and we’ve seen how trainees have gone on to attack US trainers in both Iraq and Afghanistan). Establishing a military force sounds great, but answerable to whom, and where would this new force operate, given that we’re dealing with Syria (which has a central govt in Assad) and Iraq (which has a national govt in Baghdad and you’re pulling the new army from refugees in any number of nations, including Jordan). Helping the Kurds is likely to tick off Turkey as well, and Turkey’s a NATO member (and has been engaging in exchanging gifts at high velocity with Russia of late).

Seeing how there’s no evidence that Daesh has infiltrated the US via illegal immigration, where’s the money going to come from to pay for this surge of troops to the US border.

No one could have predicted:

-78% support Trump’s call to bans Muslims from entering the United States, to only 13% who oppose it. Overall 54% of Republicans support him on that to 28% who are opposed. Supporters of Cruz (62/20) and Carson (54/25) also favor a Muslim ban while backers of Rubio (28/48) and Bush (28/49) are opposed.

-65% of Trump voters think thousands of Arabs in New Jersey cheered the collapse of the World Trade Center, to only 11% who don’t think that happened. Overall 43% of Republicans think that event occurred to 29% who don’t. Supporters of Carson (44/10) and Cruz (45/26) agree with Trump’s that it happened while those of Rubio (24/47) and Bush (12/62) say it didn’t.

-59% of Trump voters support a national database of Muslims, to 18% who are opposed. Republicans as a whole are evenly divided on that issue, 40/40. Carson supporters (42/38) join with Trump’s in wanting a Muslim database but those of Cruz (38/42), Rubio (32/48), and Bush (19/62) are all against it.

-45% of Trump voters want to shut down the mosques in the United States, to only 23% who are opposed to doing that. Overall just 27% of Republicans support that to 45% who are opposed though. Supporters of all the other major GOP candidates are opposed to shutting down mosques- it’s 32/48 with Carson backers, 25/44 with those of Cruz, 9/66 with Rubio voters, and 9/69 with Bush’s.

-Finally as long as we were at it we decided we’d ask people if they thought Japanese internment had been a good idea. Among Trump voters 48% say they support the use of internment during World War II, to only 21% who say they oppose it. Overall just 29% of Republicans support that to 39% opposed, and supporters of all the other candidates are against it- 29/33 with Cruz voters, 23/54 with Rubio’s, 12/48 with Carson’s, and 13/56 with Bush’s

Why are people on here even debating the chances of someone yelling “Seig Heil” at a Trump rally? Like it is so far fetched that a candidate that has White Supremacists supporting him to have that term yelled at his rally. It’s not even the most disturbing thing yelled at the rally and yet because some dumb ass on twitter says it must have been a liberal troll we have people actually debating it. The Right is very good at getting people to argue over the most idiotic things and people continue to fall for it.

They’re much more lovable than the Patriots. ;)

Well, true. If I have to root for anyone in the AFC it’s going to be the Texans.

I’m much more of a Packers fan, though.

It’s not even that they’re good at it, it’s that our political culture seems hardwired that anything from the Right is immediately treated as credible unless debunked in triplicate and proven without a shadow of a doubt to be a lie. Anything from the left is treated like lies from the goddamned pits of hell unless verified with double-proof trials and peer review, and even then it’s always treated as questionable at best. The right is allowed to get away with bullshit for fucking ever and they never double back on it so they get treated like solid, rockribbed and decisive heroes.

Guess Cruz and Rubio will be going batcrap crazy over this tonight.

And if Cuba is such a terrible place with terrible people, why are/have we been letting immigration happen from there? They could be fomenting a communist revolution here.
