The Most Clueless Right Wing Tweet of the Week

From Donald Trump’s official spokesperson
Politics • Views: 44,050

I’d like to present Donald Trump’s official spokesperson, with the flat out stupidest right wing comment I’ve seen this week.

Yeah, only a bunch of yellow-bellied liberal cowards are scared of global thermonuclear war!

Katrina Pierson was well known as a fanatical Tea Party organizer who promoted loony far right conspiracy theories before she became Trump’s mouthpiece. Are you surprised?

Pierson has been a hyperactive tea party organizer for years, doing countless media appearances and traveling extensively around the country to spread her message. When I first met her in the summer of 2011, she was teaching a darkly conspiratorial class on the United Nation’s “Agenda 21” at a meeting of the Waco Tea Party. Under the UN’s aegis, she told the frightened crowd, Americans would be forced into crowded apartment buildings, and UN-empowered block captains would be “given police power over your neighborhoods.”

Agenda 21? I’ll go with too dumb.

I had the misfortune of seeing her on MSNBC in an interview just a couple weeks back. She let the crazy flow. And like always, she wasn’t all that challenged about it other than some eye rolls and a head shake.

Why is it that I feel more “normal” with each new post Charles makes on the antics of the GOP?

Agenda 21 is a non-binding, voluntarily implemented action plan of the United Nations with regard to sustainable development.[1] It is a product of the Earth Summit (UN Conference on Environment and Development) held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, in 1992. It is an action agenda for the UN, other multilateral organizations, and individual governments around the world that can be executed at local, national, and global levels. The “21” in Agenda 21 refers to the 21st Century. It has been affirmed and had a few modifications at subsequent UN conferences.

Every President since 1945 has had the nuclear option available, often under desperate and trying circumstances. Only Truman used it and that decision remains furiously controversial to this day. Maybe there is a pattern here?

14
andres  Dec 19, 2015 • 2:24:15pm

This is getting scarier and scarier with every passing day. That they can’t fathom why no one wants to start a nuclear war is extremely dangerous. These people should never have anything more dangerous than a paper clip at their disposal.

And to think Trump is the Republican front runner.

In case of a Trump presidency, would it be possible to get asylum in Mars? /-half

That film, and others like it during the 80s, was what really killed the fantasy in many Americans minds that nuclear war could not only be won, but that America would survive in the event of such a war. Unfortunately, a generation has since grown up that never lived under the constant shadow of nuclear war and it’s allowed them to again entertain that idea that nuclear weapons are the solution to all of America’s problems.

27
Shiplord Kirel  Dec 19, 2015 • 2:36:12pm

One of many examples of a President being seriously presented with the nuclear option and refusing to use it:
Operation Vulture (1954)

Operation Vulture (French: Opération Vautour) was the name of the proposed American operation that would rescue French forces at battle of Dien Bien Phu in 1954 via B-29 raids based in the Philippines. The French garrison had been surrounded by the communist Viet Minh during the First Indochina War. ….
The plan included an option to use up to three atomic weapons on the Viet Minh positions. (Admiral) Radford, the top American military officer, gave this nuclear option his backing. US B-29s, B-36s, and B-47s could have executed a nuclear strike, as could carrier aircraft from the Seventh Fleet.

Needless to say, President Eisenhower did not give the order and the French colonial army was overrun and marched off into captivity.

Or perhaps Obama should enact an executive order that all public schools, federal and state buildings should have bomb shelter or in place exercises for impending nuclear doom like we had in the 60s.

I’m sure I’ve told this story here before, but I spent a weekend once in the early seventies with Senator Goldwater in the mountains of Prescott, Arizona, at my high school journalism teacher’s family cabin. He and my teacher/eternal crush’s mother went to high school together and were good friends. Mom was very liberal, especially for a northern Arizonan back then and before.

Anyway, having been brought up by progressive working class pro-union New England parents, I expected to meet Mussolini’s clone, but the senator turned out to be a very charming and chill fellow, and an ace Scrabble player, though moms beat him eight times out of ten. ;-)

Oh goody, pizza’s here! Be back in a bit.

“Duck and cover” would have stopped you getting chewed up from broken glass and debris if the blast was far enough away that the heat flash or pressure pulse didn’t destroy the building you were in.

You might remember the meteorite explosion over central Russia that happened in February 2013, equivalent to a high-altitude megatonne nuclear bomb in its blast effects. A lot of people got hurt standing at windows looking at the weird thing in the sky when the pressure pulse hit and blew broken glass into their faces.

Good article by Bill Curry at Salon about the DNC/Sanders/DWS imbroglio.

Huh. Tantaros didn’t make TBogg’s top 9. Although he did point out that:

Being asked to collect the dumbest things said by conservatives in 2015 is not exactly like being be asked to complete the 12 labors of Hercules, although upon completion I did feel like I had just finished mucking out a particularly disgusting stable.

It was akin to looking for a needle — in a needle factory.

Not sure I agree with his list, but I did find out that “Girls Just Want to Have Guns” is actually a thing. Who knew?

rawstory.com

It is a sisyphean task. The list of dumbest things said by conservatives is virtually endless.

A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.

As is usual with gun-nuts, she only quoted half the 2nd amendment. They always seem to forget that “well regulated Militia” part.

1 and 2 are mutually incompatible. Putin doesn’t put his country first; he puts himself and his cronies first at the expense of his country.

Which is exactly what the GOP wants a US version of.

So, they want a nation filled will Alcoholism and drug problems, with an exhausted military not capable of even fighting the tattered military of a neighbor, on the brink of collapse and with large chunks of the nation wanting to break away, and that’s even neglecting the demographic issue Russia is facing.

Because that is that is what Russia under Putin is.

Is she too young to remember Mutually Assured Destruction? Too dumb to know what it means?

Agenda 21? I’ll go with too dumb.

Found a website that says she received her Bachelor’s degree in 2006 which would put her birthdate around 1985. Berlin wall would be coming down when she was in preschool, so, yeah, she’s just this side of too young to remember.

This is one real problem with the next generation being untouched by the Cold War - yes it’s good that they don’t have to live in fear. But, fear can be a valuable teacher.

I’m sticking with “too dumb”, I was born in 1987 and I am not as stupid as she when it comes to nuclear weapons.

To add to my hanging out with Barry Goldwater for a weekend anecdote, he encouraged my interest in history, which I vividly recall at the time thinking was deeply ironic given his own balderdash. My dad got a kick out of that when I told him I’d met the senator.

But I give Goldwater a bit of credit: in his later years the GOP despised him as a turncoat and “fag lover,” to the point of taking his name off the federal building in Phoenix for several years.
