American Family Association Loon Bryan Fischer: Dinosaurs Were Just Giant, 1,000-Year-Old Lizards

Finally, an explanation that makes sense
Weird • Views: 58,877

YouTube

Bryan Fischer has a theory about dinosaurs, and it is his theory, which is his, even though he’s “not a scientist or whatever.” It’s a really good theory, based on the Bible of course, because what else do you need to know?

If the Bible says Methuselah was a thousand years old there’s no reason whatsoever to doubt it, right? I mean, what are you, crazy or something, doubting the literal truth of the Bible?

And if Methuselah could live that long back in the day a couple thousand years ago, so could ordinary reptiles, right? It just makes sense, people! And since reptiles never stop growing… they eventually turned into giant dinosaurs! It’s so obvious.

(Actually, this isn’t really Bryan’s original theory. It’s an old creationist idiocy that’s been circulated by religious fanatics for a long time. For example.)

After thorough examination, NASA managers have decided to suspend the planned March 2016 launch of the Interior Exploration using Seismic Investigations Geodesy and Heat Transport (InSight) mission. The decision follows unsuccessful attempts to repair a leak in a section of the prime instrument in the science payload.

“Learning about the interior structure of Mars has been a high priority objective for planetary scientists since the Viking era,” said John Grunsfeld, associate administrator for NASA’s Science Mission Directorate in Washington. “We push the boundaries of space technology with our missions to enable science, but space exploration is unforgiving, and the bottom line is that we’re not ready to launch in the 2016 window. A decision on a path forward will be made in the coming months, but one thing is clear: NASA remains fully committed to the scientific discovery and exploration of Mars.”

The instrument involved is the Seismic Experiment for Interior Structure (SEIS), a seismometer provided by France’s Centre National d’Études Spatiales (CNES). Designed to measure ground movements as small as the diameter of an atom, the instrument requires a vacuum seal around its three main sensors to withstand the harsh conditions of the Martian environment.

I am disappointed, but better to discover the problem now while it can be fixed.

So Beshear spent weeks making excuses for why he couldn’t do anything, including hauling the legislature back in to change the law, to address Davis’ refusal to obey the law. But Bevin has no compunction about getting her off the hook via EO, which the legislature is likely not to raise much of a fuss about.

It’s not about not wanting religion in government. It’s about not wanting any other religion in government. Just like it’s not about small government, it’s about government they control. And it’s not about freedom for all, it’s about freedom for THEM to do what THEY want, and the authority to prevent others from doing what they DON’T want.

You don’t like gay marriage being legal. Fine. I don’t like laws that forbid the sell of alcohol on Sundays much. I don’t get to say my beliefs mean those laws shouldn’t be applied. For all the right wing claims that gay couples want “special rights”, this just takes the prize. Kim Davis and peole like are nothing more than a modern day GEorge C. Fact is Republicans don’t give a damn about religious liberty for all. They care about certain people having religious liberty. If you’re a liberal Christian, you don’t get the liberty to bless same sex marriages. If you’re a Muslim, oyu don’t get the liberty to attend your religious services without fear of armed thugs threatending you. And if you’re a general non-Christian, you’re told that acknowledging your religion in school is “brainwashing our kids.” Really fuck the Republican Party for enabling the Christian Right and a major fuck you to Ronald Reagan for using them only for his own power even though his own wife was using an astrologer and he only used religion to come off as this devout man to the religious right who rejected a man who actually lived up to the principles of Christianity in favor of a fraud like Ronald Wilson Reagan.

ARK OF GABRIEL: Russia ‘given ancient apocalyptic weapon uncovered in Saudi Arabia’

Wild rumours that a fabled device or weapon called the “Ark of Gabriel” has been found under the Masjid al-Haram Mosque — the holiest site in Islam — are sweeping across the darker corners of the internet.

Legend tells the Archangel Gabriel — who told the Virgin Mary she would give birth to Jesus and dictated the Koran to the Prophet Muhammed — also entrusted an ark or box of “immense power” to the founder of the Muslim faith.

Muhammed was told to bury the ark in a shrine at a “place of worship” — for it to be brought out as the end of the world approaches.

Paranoid survivalists believe Saudi Arabia has uncovered the ark during a major construction project at the Grand Mosque — and handed it to the Russians.

They claim the Russian military is taking the ark to the Antarctic - possibly to a former Nazi UFO base. […]

If you asked them, they wouldn’t say they want universal religious liberty. They want religious liberty for the right religion, and most of them at least have the balls to come out and say that. That’s the whole point of the “America is a Christian Nation” meme that the right wing spreads. They are trying to rewrite history to put Christianity in the Constitution so that they can have legal justification for enforcing their morality.

President Bernie would somehow change everything overnight even though both houses of the legislature are controlled by Republicans…

While I admire a couple of Bernie’s stated goals in regards to financial policy I am also realistic enough to realize that he doesn’t have a chance in hell of making them law.

No—it’s even more convoluted than that because, don’t you know, according to the Koskid Berniacs, he’ll fight everyone in Congress, accomplish nothing, then get re-elected in a WAVE election in 2020, sweeping progressives into office in both houses and across the country in every state. And how much it turns people off of religion in general. I think most people are not as angry (call it radical) as I am in how much I hate religion because of this. The only good thing that comes from this crap is that it turns off so very many people.

Ah the anti-choice extremists are busy swarming all over the Rand Paul announcement of an investigation into PP based on the CMP BS videos.

All the same BS talking points too. Abortion is murder. Any money to PP is used to fund abortions. Etc. Etc. Etc.

Of course, every single investigation into PP based on the CMP videos has found absolutely no wrongdoing by PP. Not a single violation. Nothing. Even when the GOP AGs try to invent violations, they can’t sustain them (as in FL, where they tried to claim that PP was doing abortions they weren’t licensed to do based on the FL AG redefining trimester and ignoring state law on point).

Congress held hearings on this, and came up with nothing too. Now Paul’s pushing yet another witch hunt.

All of this is designed to wear down PP and its supporters, and force them to spend on defending PP rather than providing health care services that are badly needed because the GOP is moving to deny health care access at every turn.

It also means my block button is getting a hearty workout due to the fact-challenged nonsense spewed forth.

And that’s the thing. What he did was technically illegal, so now the legislature will just quietly change the law to make it legal. Meanwhile, Beshear absolutely refused to take any action on the grounds that it was outside the boundaries of his powers and he would not call the legislature in to change the law, but instead would leave it to the courts to decide. He could have taken action and then used the uproar to drive Democrats to the polls to uphold his choice. But no, instead he stood by the law and is now replaced by an ideologue who couldn’t give a fuck less about the law.

So, I guess Ben Carson was in town today (it’s a day ending in y, so there’s always a Republican running his/her mouth here.) Was at the dentist and the hygienist was telling me about how they went for their Christmas lunch at the same restaurant where Ben was apparently eating. There were Secret Service folks there and they went through everyone’s bags and jackets etc. (sounds like it was more intense than the security at the Dem Forum last month, but whatever.)

Anyway, the telling of that tale then led to one of the other hygienists coming in to say, “It’s like when Obama went to Mexico with the Secret Service guys and they all did cocaine with hookers.”

As my mouth was full of tubes (and my hygienist had sharp implements in her hand), I rolled my eyes and said, “Uh, that’s really not what happened” when I wanted to say, “You are an ignorant asshole and do not have clue fucking one what you’re talking about.”

Sigh.

I don’t know about blaming it on him being insufficiently progressive but I definitely agree they’ll find an excuse and some new progressive white horse to jump on. It’s too bad. I agree with a lot of what he stands for but I also know that just merely electing Sanders alone isn’t the key to more progressive legislation and frankly I don’t think his supporters or maybe even him get that.

Well, it’s one louder, isn’t it? It’s not ten. You see, most blokes, you know, will be playing at ten. You’re on ten here, all the way up, all the way up, all the way up, you’re on ten on your guitar. Where can you go from there? Where?

Here’s the key quote:

But when a politician uses his children as political props, as Ted Cruz recently did in his Christmas parody video in which his eldest daughter read (with her father’s dramatic flourish) a passage of an edited Christmas classic, then I figure they are fair game.

Cruz had his daughter read outloud an ‘edited passage’. Cruz crossed the line by having his daughter become an active participant instead of being passive.

Now you know what kind of a sleazebag Cruz really is.

Not necessarily. Although penis-based meanings (in the sense of to fuck or to have a big penis) are more frequent.

What I think is responsible for those rare occurrences is the confusion between shlong and shlogn (from German schlagen - to beat):

yiddishwordoftheweek.tumblr.com

Shlogn - שלאגן \SHLOG-en\ Verb:
To beat, hit, strike; mint (money); fight [with zikh].

How does it mock “Christianity”? Because Santa!!!!!!!!! ????????? WTF. Racist??? Someday a conservative will use that word in a correct context but is it monkeys? I’ve heard the word “schlong” many times in my life in many different circumstances, and it only meant “penis.” I’ve never heard it used to mean “beat up.”

Not saying it’s never been used that way, but the fact is it’s very very commonly understood as referring to a dick. Trump knows that. He’s just lying, as he does.

And my point is if we cannot attack Cruz for using his kids as stage props, something I would hazard to guess we both believe to be wrong, then we should be able to mock him for doing so. Him, not his children. Else we allow him and other politicians to use their children both as props and shields from criticism for using them as props.

Here’s a good cartoon topic:
Texas Governor Abbott is now defending the state of Texas from the Bill of Rights.

Abbott complains that FFRF’s Bill of Rights display is “tasteless sarcasm” and that FFRF mocks “our Nation’s Judeo-Christian heritage.” Ironically, Abbott cited a fake George Washington quote, while claiming the FFRF display “promotes ignorance and falsehood.”
………
FFRF received a permit for the display, which was placed in the ground floor rotunda on December 18.
