Sanders on Trump: “He Discovered Women Go to the Bathroom, and It’s Been Very Upsetting to Him”

Yesterday in Iowa, Bernie Sanders got off a couple of good lines about Donald Trump’s bizarre misogynistic comments on Hillary Clinton’s bathroom break.

“He has discovered that women go to the bathroom, and it’s been very upsetting to him,” the senator from Vermont said of the real-estate mogul during a rally here that drew about 1,800 people. “This is a guy who wants to be president of the United States. He must have a very unusual relationship with women.”

“Now I’ve got to be honest with you. I’ve got to be honest with you,” Sanders said, speaking in a mocking tone. “I also went to the bathroom. I know, I have to admit it. … This is the pathology. This is the guy who is leading in the Republican polls.”

Downstairs, I mentioned the film Spotlight, for me at least, a sure contender for an Oscar nod for best film/best director. The student I saw the film with today, a local Czech-language film critic, had never read the original Boston Globe exposé by the Spotlight investigative journalism team, so I e-mailed her a link. I’m sure she’ll enjoy it.

Well even if we did make the mistake of re-criminalizing all abortions in the United States, its unlikely we’d go to War over abortion. For practical reasons that’s unlikely to happen, even if we get the most extreme “pro life” fanatic in the white house. Even he or she, but mostly it would be a he, were a totalitarian, even with a military as strong as ours, eventually it would be just too much to try to force every other country on the planet to ban something against their will that in many cases the vast majority of their population supports. However, If you believe as many in the anti choice movement believe, that abortion is murder, than the “states rights” argument doesn’t work. It would be like arguing that keeping black people as slaves should be something to be left up to the individual states, like many argued prior to the Civil War.

Same thing, but they’ll continue to lose at the federal level. However many in the anti choice crowd know it will be much easier when it comes to the states, where they’ll have far fewer people to deal with. Some states are still far more anti abortion than the country as a whole, which is why many of the people who want to outlaw abortion are focusing at the state level now.

Because she feeds it regularly, I have two of the squirrels here trained to sratch at the back window when they want some (raw) peanuts or almonds. The new owner (place just went on the market) is probably going to freak the first time it happens. Lol
