Trump Spokesperson Katrina Pierson Wears Necklace of Bullets on CNN, Interviewer Doesn’t Even Mention It

This is crazy
Politics • Views: 51,992

The headline says it all. Apparently, CNN doesn’t think it’s worth mentioning that Donald Trump’s official national spokesperson is wearing a necklace made out of bullets.

This presidential campaign is now all the way into Idiocracy territory.

Into the pockets of distributors, i.e., “the media”.

Political campaigns bring cash to local news outlets who otherwise have to get by on car dealer advertisements and charging large sums for obituaries.

dholmes32  Dec 29, 2015 • 6:26:05pm

For what it’s worth—Trump is supposed to have a rally at U Mass Lowell on January 4 at 5 pm. The reason I know this, even though I live in Arizona is because a friend of mine and other people he knows from very liberal Cambridge, Somerville, etc., plan to carpool over to protest at the rally. According to my friend, this is the furthest into Massachusetts Trump has come. Anyway, just putting that out there because we know how much Trump supporters love to rough up protesters.

You have got to be kidding.

There’s a pretty good argument for ignoring it, actually. Given the realities of social media and the behavior of Donald Trump, if the interviewer had brought up the matter of her necklace then he or she would have been made the issue. The social media feeds of both the interviewer and CNN would have turned to rivers of denunciations of TRAITOROUS ANTI-GUN MEDIA LIBERALS!!!11 and Trump would himself on Twitter and on his next campaign stop belittle the interview and act like he was knocking the interviewer aside the way a ‘Real Man’ knocks aside a foolish wimp who dares to annoy him.

Calling Pierson on her jewelry would have brought the interviewer and CNN a great deal of grief and very little gain. It would be more likely to help Trump than to hurt him.

A larger point - if they lose Mosul, their ‘caliphate’ ceases to exist and they can no longer recruit according to Islamic Law.

Al‑Qaeda is ineradicable because it can survive, cockroach-like, by going underground. The Islamic State cannot. If it loses its grip on its territory in Syria and Iraq, it will cease to be a caliphate. Caliphates cannot exist as underground movements, because territorial authority is a requirement: take away its command of territory, and all those oaths of allegiance are no longer binding. Former pledges could of course continue to attack the West and behead their enemies, as freelancers. But the propaganda value of the caliphate would disappear, and with it the supposed religious duty to immigrate and serve it.

That’s where the Great Battle is supposed to occur.

If they’re reduced to holding Dabiq, they’d be sitting ducks because it’s mostly rolling farmland.

Kurds are working on it.

It seems like Iraq is letting the Kurds handle it. The Kurds are chipping away at the defenses, and are beginning to try to encircle it, if the salient around Tel Keppe is anything to go by.

Tel Keppe was ethnicly cleansed of Assyrians, and is now home only to Arabs under DAESH.

I think a reverse cleansing may happen.

That’s not a thing to want, though it may indeed happen.

Yup. When the primary news sources were the TV networks and the newspapers, candidates couldn’t afford to cut access to the media without backlash. These days, with the explosion of “news” channels and web sites, candidates can refuse access with few if any consequences. Since the “reporters” need access to the candidates, they are willing to tolerate BS that was unthinkable a few years ago.

He chose an established mediocre assistant coach to run the defense. In spite of the fact that their starting linebackers could barely walk, they still couldn’t field anything better to sub for them. When they got embarrassed this season, it was mostly their defense that rolled over and quit. The offensive line left an awful lot to be desired too. The running backs had to break tackles just to get to the line of scrimmage. If I had to guess what happened, the team owner told Chip he had to give up some power and Chip refused.
I would have liked to see Chip stay because the offense can be impressive. I like to see somebody who has a vision for the team that doesn’t involve doing everything that the teams do.

Me: Welcome Ms. Peirson.
KP: Hi there.
M: Before we start, let me say how striking your jewelry is tonight.
KP: *smiles*
M: Are those cast in silver?
KP: Why yes (or a puzzled look).
M: Is this part of the Lone Ranger fantasy cos-play of which you are a coordinator?

I think we are only about 6 weeks away from not having to call Rubio a “leading candidate” for anything except a lobbying job. He HAS TO finish top 2 in New Hampshire, and with Christie, Bush and even Kasich literally throwing their entire campaigns into that state there is not likely to be enough oxygen in the establishment lane. Good riddance.

Presumably at least one establishment candidate will come limping out of NH, even if Trump and Cruz finish 1 and 2. If one of them (Rubio, Chrisite, Kasich or Bush) doesn’t win in SC, however, its hard to see how this doesn’t end up being a battle between Trump and Cruz for the nomination. That being said, its certainly possible one of them will suddenly surge and win in NH outright; its happened before.

Trump has triple Rubio’s number in South Carolina. Cruz has double. Finishing a distant third in Iowa is not exactly going to help matters.

On the other hand…the same YouGov data from 12 days ago does indeed show Cruz in second in New Hampshire. So MAYBE third place will be good enough for the establishment candidate to survive…but again Rubio has Christie, Bush and Kasich literally betting their entire campaigns on getting a result there. It is going to be a bloodbath.

“In a way, the world−view of the Party imposed itself most successfully on people incapable of understanding it. They could be made to accept the most flagrant violations of reality, because they never fully grasped the enormity of what was demanded of them, and were not sufficiently interested in public events to notice what was happening. By lack of understanding they remained sane. They simply swallowed everything, and what they swallowed did them no harm, because it left no residue behind, just as a grain of corn will pass undigested through the body of a bird.”

All you would have done is give Trump a new vein of insult to mine. It wouldn’t have changed the interview one bit. Trump and his minions feed off of these insults. As long as he has fresh fodder he keeps his schtick going. When he has to go over the same fields again and again, his supporters get bored. Besides, picking a fight over the necklace doesn’t just benefit Trump, it benefits the entire right wing.
Many people think that Trump is the problem with the Republican Party. That would suggest that things would be normal once Trump is out of the way. Nothing is farther than the truth. I think the GOP establishment loves what Trump is doing because it gives cover to their own extremism.

I believe that in any competition, initiative is the most important thing to have. In the example at the top of this post, I think confronting the spokeswoman about Trump’s previous statement (I think Hillary Clinton would be a great president) is a better line of attack (I know it’s CNN, but I can dream) than going after the necklace. Make her squirm, make her try to spin that instead of letting her bait you into changing the subject. What would you like to see on that screenshot? “Trump in 2008: ‘Clinton would make a great President’”? or “Trump spokeswoman wears necklace made of bullets”?

You know Charles, I’m not defending her choice of jewelry, and I don’t advocate trolling. Nowhere in anything I said tonight should give anybody that impression. We have a disagreement in the way CNN should react to the necklace, but I take offense that you seem to have associated me without basis with a cause I despise. I repeat: nowhere did I say that her necklace was a good thing. Politics is (are) ugly. It is a fight which has to be waged with clear thinking. While the producers are perfectly within their rights to insist she leave the necklace in the green room (or wherever they leave their stuff), I think it would ultimately be an issue that doesn’t lead anywhere productive. I also gave reasons for my position. If you want to discuss the argument (premises and conclusions), I would be all for it. I stuck around for a while to engage in discussion and state my case. I don’t think I was disrespectful or demeaning to anybody.
I have said before that if you don’t get downdinged, you’re not trying hard enough. I’m not here to troll, I was here to make an argument for a different reaction to the spokeswoman, not to support her in any way.

BTW I don’t understand how those Twitter embeds work. The bottom post has a time stamp but the top one doesn’t. Is Shaun King responding to Goldie Taylor or the other way around?

Not that I’m aware of, just accusations. But Goldie’s piece on Shaun was fairly tame. I’m not sure why he would go after her.

Literally everything I’ve read from him in the last 4-6 weeks, Shaun has been nothing but a raging asshole. I unfollowed him.

It seems one his followers went after her, and then Shaun tweeted the hit piece. I’m not sure what he hopes to accomplish by being a dick.

Guitar question: I am barely a novice, so I only know enough to not be able to figure some things out. If I’m playing along with a song in G, will a pentatonic G minor scale work, or will it have discordant notes? It seems like it would work, but I don’t know if maybe I have lame ears.

I’m not even sure he has stolen money, but personally attacking those (DeRay, Netta, and Goldie) who question him is dickish. I mean, little ole’ me got blocked by Shaun on FB because I criticized his anti-vaccine post. Buck up, Shaun.

Some of these “new media” types have remarkably thin skins. If you can’t take criticism, better find a new line of work, people.

The story here really isn’t a necklace.

The story is Trump hiring someone like Katrina Pierson as his spokesman.

And the necklace only supports that story, which is this: Trump associates with some of the looniest and worst political antagonists in this country.

It’s his freak show. He’s the big barker, they help him do the contortions and the snake lady bit and such. He pulls into town with the trucks and they set up the displays. Come one…come all! See The Political Death Defying TRUMP who ate the media!

Katrina Pierson is a full on loon. This smacks of Trump purposely sending out his side show performers to say outrageous things and they can call it more political correctness in the media. There will be more of this. They do want to get in peoples faces and do this low-cost but effective bullshit to grandstand on the most base issue: White people want to bitch and moan about whatever and everyone has to by law listen to them…because fucking whaa, whaaaaaaaaaa!

Some small developments in the Planned Parenthood video case involving Chuck C. Johnson.

There was a hearing Dec. 23 about Chuck’s attempt to avoid revealing his source for the videos he has under a journalist’s shield law. The judge hearing the case posed three questions to counsels, and gave them until Dec. 28 to suggest clarifications of said questions.

Here are the judge’s original questions from Dec. 23.

1. Did you disclose any material covered by the TRO to Mr. Johnson and if so, what did you disclose?
2. Do you know the identity of “Patriotgeist,” and if so, who is or are he/she/they?
3. Do you have any information concerning the disclosure of material to Mr. Johnson or who “Patriotgeist” is, and if so, what is that information?

The judge will rule on Johnson’s motion to quash the subpoena served on him after plaintiffs and defendants respond with their declarations.

The transcript of the hearing won’t be publicly available until March 21, so it’s hard to know the context of the judge’s questions. But I suspect he is trying to close any possible loopholes before requiring Chuck to reveal his source. One of the loopholes to the state shield law is whether the plaintiffs (National Abortion Federation) have exhausted all possible methods of learning the source’s identity. The judge is also trying to get everyone on record as saying whether they provided the materials to Chuck. If Chuck is indeed the only person who knows who Patriot Geist is, the judge may well force him to reveal PG’s identity.

Pierson is black. That’s a huge part of her perceived usefulness to Trump, her complexion runs interference, allowing the campaign to think it’s pulling one over on minority voters. That strategy will fall apart in the general election, but for now her presence is effectively being aimed at conservatives, who are more interested in the kind of token gesture towards diversity that she embodies than the real thing.

The entire GOP field and especially Trump is right out of some late 80’s early 90’s dystopian B-movie. Having your political spokesperson wear bullets would have been hilariously over the top back in 1991 and considered typical hack screen writing.

We now live in a world in which politcal and nationalist sentiment is required to be publicly displayed at all times for easy identification- flag lapel pins, open carry, and now bullet jewelry.

Wow. Fascism did indeed come wrapped in the American flag and carrying a cross. The one thing missed by this prediction was bullet jewelry worn by national campaign spokespersons.

That idea has possibilities for a new product…

tRumpPlugz brand suppositories, made with REAL bullets for insane a@@holes! If you’re a complete pain in the a@@, use tRumpPlugz!

Contraindications: Do not use tRumpPlugz if the rectal cavity is occupied by your cranium. Using tRumpPlugz in a rectal orifice packed with cranium will likely result in “shooting off at the mouth.”

It might also be why the interviewer held fire, since he’s a white guy. He might have feared that if he’d gotten into a major argument with her over her jewelry, then she’d deploy a weaponized charge of racism.
