Donald Trump Retweets Another Outright Lie: The Al-Shabaab Video Did NOT Include Hillary Clinton

Another fake right wing story
Politics • Views: 48,047

Right wing blogs are spreading another outright falsehood, claiming that the al-Shabaab terrorist recruitment video that featured a clip of Donald Trump also had Hillary Clinton in it.

I’ve finished watching the entire video now and Donald Trump is definitely in it, as an example of “America’s hatred of Muslims,” but Hillary Clinton is absolutely not in this video. Wingnut bloggers are lying again, knowing that most people won’t watch the whole awful video themselves to check their claims.

This lie apparently originated with @redsteeze (Stephen Miller), and he’s now deleted his tweet — but here’s what it said:

And guess who else picked up on this false report? Yep. The leading GOP candidate for president of the United States:

(I saved a screenshot of this Trump tweet in case he deletes it.)

The video is here, if you want to check for yourself; it’s almost an hour long, and the section featuring Donald Trump starts at about 10:50.

Don’t you see libtards, Al Shabbab hates Hillary just as much as Trump, which is why they put her in this video only I was able to find. Also the reason you can’t find it yourself is they must have deleted because they notice that I took a screen grab of it and they’re totally in the bag for Hillary, even though I just said they totally put her in their recruitment video alongside Trump. Oh yeah, BLM is in there for some random reason, probably because they hate black people as much as we here at NRO do. No, I didn’t download the video like any rational reporter actually catching the media in a huge gotcha moment would naturally do, but I did take this screengrab that looks like no actual video screen grab you’ve ever seen. No, I don’t know why the black bars don’t line up … probably because they’re black amirite haha! Finally don’t ask me for the URL either because Obama must have erased my internet history.

I was reading some of the comments on the Guardian concerning Y’all Queda and one of the consistent “they’re harmless” memes was that they had taken only one building. Besides the blatant inanity that one federal was Okey-dokie, but that more than one wasn’t, I went into deep investigative mode, utilizing Dark Sekret Databases (i.e. Google Maps) and discovered that the HQ for the Refuge contains at least 18 structures including offices, houses, pole barns, maintenance sheds, 5 RV pads, and a (50? 60? foot) fire tower offering a 360 degree surveillance capacity and a fine shooting platform.

So that point is just so much putrid bullshit. The defenders of these fucktards are just little impotent wannabes.

Rambles about federal land ownership, forest fires, ranchers getting 5 years in jail (aka the Hammonds, whom he doesn’t name), then closes with this:

I don’t necessarily support armed men showing up but when the federal government behaves tyrannically this is what winds up happening. The better policy would be to let people use the federal land and sell it off so that it won’t burn off!

If I had a platform, I would put forth to these assholes that the Government shouldn’t treat them unfairly, they should let the free market decide and the Government should let them graze at “free market value.” As in, 100%, not 7% of the average market price for grazing land. Would be interesting to see their reaction.

What gets me is the assumption by these yokels that the federal government somehow took this land from the settlers way back when and now refuses to give it back. In fact, the government took possession of the territory after dealing with the British and stiffing the Native Americans. There were very few white settlers in Oregon during the early 19th century. The town of Burns was created on a federal land grant in the late 1800s.

TR and other leaders wisely chose to keep the ownership of the land with the federal government, to prevent the wholesale raping and pillaging of it by greedy settlers and business interests. Otherwise, the American West would be a wasteland now. [Iceland has no trees because the Vikings settlers cut them all down.]

I wonder what the Oregon State Constitution says about federal lands?

Section 1. State boundaries. The State of Oregon shall be bounded as provided by section 1 of the Act of Congress of February 1859, admitting the State of Oregon into the Union of the United States

So what does the Act of Congress Admitting Oregon to the Union say?

Sixth, and that the state shall never tax the lands or the property of the United States in said state; provided, however, that in case any of the lands herein granted to the State of Oregon have heretofore been confirmed to the Territory of Oregon for the purposes specified in this act, the amount so confirmed shall be deducted from the quantity specified in this act.

Basically, if you read the act you see that Congress reserved most of the public lands in Oregon, just like it did in Nevada, as a precondition to admission to the Union. Exceptions were granted for

A. Schools: Section Numbers 16 and 36 of every Survey Township in the Public Lands were given to the State for the purpose of erecting schools.

B. Universities: Seventy Two Sections would be selected by the Governor from the Public Lands, only to be used for public higher education. AKA what we often call “Land Grant” colleges.

C. Seat of Government: Ten Sections, again selected by the Governor, for public buildings in the State Capital.

D. Salt springs. Up to 12 were allowed to be designated by the Governor, six Sections each max in size. These kinds of Salt Reservations were seen at the time as a necessary hedge against life threatening monopolies.

E. Percentage of Sales. Basically this grants Oregon 5% of the cost of any lands the United States chooses to sell within Oregon, as authorized by the legislature. Here it is:

Fifth, that 5 per centum of the net proceeds of sales of all public lands lying within said state which shall be sold by Congress after the admission of said state into the Union, after deducting all the expenses incident to the same, shall be paid to said state, for the purpose of making public roads and internal improvements, as the legislature shall direct; provided, that the foregoing propositions, hereinbefore offered, are on the condition that the people of Oregon shall provide by an ordinance, irrevocable without the consent of the United States, that said state shall never interfere with the primary disposal of the soil within the same by the United States, or with any regulations Congress may find necessary for securing the title in said soil to bona fide purchasers thereof; and that in no case shall nonresident proprietors be taxed higher than residents.

Basically the entire point is that Oregon, like the rest of the Western States, agreed to come into the Union not owning all land within its boundaries.

Normally I know too much about probability to waste money on the lottery.

However, the odds of winning, 1 in 292,291,338, would seem to be about the same as the odds of me being stranded for a week by a blizzard in Lubbock Texas, so I figure I’m on a roll,

GotNwes offers up another translation of the Rage Furby’s stream of consciousness prose.

ANALYSISIS: In defense of the #BundyMilitia and stuff about forest fires

One hundred and fifty citizens — or it could be 15 — including several — or maybe two — members of the Bundy family, have occupied the Malheur National Wildlife Refuge headquarters somewhere in eastern Oregon.

We’re not really too sure, since no one has sent us money to dispatch a reporter and a photographer there. And we’ll be damned if we’re going to East of Nowhere Oregon, because we’re in San Francisco now. So, we’re basing this analysis on our top-notch research on Google and Facebook and keen high IQ ability to make shit up on the fly.

Here’s a quote from Ammon Bundy, the leader of the group, via a Facebook post.

“We’re going to be freeing these lands up, and getting ranchers back to ranching, getting the loggers back to logging, getting the miners back to mining, instead of them cooking up schemes to take over federal installations in the dead of winter,” he said (sort of). “They need to do it under the protection of the people and not be afraid of this tyranny (aka fees) that’s been set upon them by the federal government which actually represents the people, but whatever. You know what I mean.

“Also, please send us snacks. And TP. Captain Moroni forgot to pack it,” Bundy added.

Thanks to the magic of the internet and having a lot of time on my hands, I have determined that the British doctor who delivered me into the world on June 21, 1949 is still alive and even has a part time practice. Dr. “JFC” was 27 at the time, 93 now. I wrote to him and, against all odds, he says he does actually remember the episode since it was very early in his career and they didn’t get many American women going into labor unexpectedly on them. He was delighted to hear from me, and said he was very glad I turned out so well. Needless to say, it was a great pleasure to hear from him.

Is it time to panic at the disco, and the market? Probably not.

Not that terrible. The Dow ended the day down 276 points, which is a lot. But it’s not “the sky is falling” bad.
Investors have seen a lot worse in recent months. Remember August? The Dow sank 1,000 points after the opening bell one day and logged two REALLY ugly days when it closed down over 500 points.
Today’s selloff wasn’t even as bad as several trading days in December.

and…

Here are the correction levels for the major indexes:
Dow needs to get below 16,516 to be in a correction. (It’s currently about 17,150)
S&P 500 needs to get below 1,921 to be in a correction. (It’s currently around 2,015).
Nasdaq needs to get below 4,709 to be in a correction. (It’s currently around 4,900).

So the right wing is losing their collective minds. Again. It’s a daily thing. This week’s outrageous outrage is about the executive orders that Obama is expected to sign tightening gun regulations and closing certain loopholes.

Congress has repeatedly punted on this, despite strong support for closing loopholes in any number of polls. The GOP turns around and says that Obama continues to boost gun sales, but that’s actually putting cart before the horse - the GOP fearmongering is goosing sales, because every time someone proposes something sensible to reduce firearms casualties, the GOP frames it as a gun grab.

No guns have been harmed in any of this. But 4 people are killed every hour of every day by firearms. 3 by suicide. 1 by homicide. Closing loopholes, looking at mental health records, and doing more thorough background checks might help reduce the firearms fatalities and injuries, which cost the nation billions in health care costs too.

But the GOP would rather fearmonger and claim that the federal govt is engaging in tyranny and that our rights are being trampled on. It’s not a big leap from the gun nut advocacy of the GOP to the Bundy nuts who make inane and fact-free assertions about how the BLM is taking their land (which was never the Bundy’s, and in any case, the BLM demanding payment for grazing herds on their lands is legitimate - the Bundy clan refusal to pay is illegal).

So what does the GOP propose doing? Another bill to repeal Obamacare. And threatening to sue Obama over EOs. Wasting taxpayer time and money over nonsensical ravings of lunatic extremists. That’s the “modern” GOP.

Sean Hannity disses actions of Bundy sons in Oregon

…Hannity ripped into the armed activists led by Cliven Bundy’s sons, Ammon Bundy and Ryan Bundy, in taking over a federal building at the Malheur National Wildlife Refuge in Oregon. “I’m having a hard time understanding why Cliven Bundy’s son is out in Oregon,” said Hannity today on the radio.

“They [ the Hammonds ] say they don’t want him out there,” said Hannity today on his show. Though Hannity wondered why it took prosecutors a decade to charge the Hammonds and suggested that there was “probably government overreach” involved in the case, “it sounds like people looking for a reason for a showdown.” There’s no need here for another Waco or Ruby Ridge, said Hannity, who noted that there’s “something not right” about the Oregon occupation.

Well, this is a positive development.

The downside is that the GOP is completely ignorant on the issue. Those self-identifying as Republicans think it isn’t happening or isn’t a problem:

There is a significant partisan divide in this view. A majority of Democrats (63%) and a plurality of independents (42%) see climate change as a very serious issue, while just 18% of Republicans agree. On the flip side, a plurality of Republicans (43%) believe climate change is not happening at all, compared with just 17% of independents and 10% of Democrats who feel the same.

It’s tyranny to make sure that background checks are completed in a timely fashion. If they aren’t done in 3 business days, they’re automatically processed as acceptable, even if there’s information that might prevent the sale. How does Obama institute this tyranny? Hiring a few more processors to evaluate the background checks to make sure that during peak purchasing periods that the transactions are resolved within the 3 business days.

It’s tyranny to check against other records, including mental health records, or the no fly list.

This is where the NRA and GOP have taken us.
