Sarah Palin Says President Obama Is Responsible for Her Son’s Domestic Violence Arrest

Everything’s his fault

You may have heard that Sarah Palin’s son Track was arrested on Tuesday and charged with domestic violence assault and possession of a firearm while all liquored up.

Palin didn’t mention this last night in her disconnected, rambling endorsement speech with Donald Trump, but today she decided to come out and address the issue in absolutely classic wingnut fashion: by blaming it on President Obama.

My son, like so many others, they come back a bit different, they come back hardened, they come back wondering if there is that respect for what it is that their fellow soldiers and airmen and every other member of the military so sacrificially have given to the country. And that starts from the top, and it’s a shame that our military personnel even have to wonder if they have to question if they’re respected anymore. It starts from the top. The question, though, that comes from our own president, where they have to look at him and wonder, ‘Do you know what we go through? Do you know what we’re trying to do to secure America and to secure the freedoms that have been bequeathed us?’

The party of personal responsibility strikes again.

This seriously pisses me off. If Track really is suffering from PTSD, which is all too likely after his Iraq tour, he needs help. At the same time, it is not a get out of jail free card or an excuse to break the law.
President Obama has shown nothing but respect for veterans and has done everything within his power to help, but Obama’s accuser, Track’s own mother, is complicit in the political machine that operates predictably year and year out to deny adequate help to veterans.

At a minimum respecting the troops starts with not sending them into harms way based on a lie.

Respect isn’t some nebulous positive feeling you have for the troops that is somehow magically divorced from how recklessly you actually treat them, how you choose to deploy and use them.

Respect isn’t something you get to claim you have for somebody while you reflexively double down on the blatant lies that needlessly endangered their lives. Respect isn’t a word you get to apply towards someone after you have pointlessly caused them to kill, be mentally scarred for life, and watched many of their friends die or come home horribly broken.

Respect isn’t just a word that allows you to cover up a decade and a half of abject mental and physical abuse, Sarah.

Remember how during the Palin Brawl episode Track reportedly took his shirt off to fight, and was described in the police report as a belligerent mess with blood on his hands and face?

Yeah, that was the moment that any responsible family would have staged an intervention, insisted that Track get some professional help and taken away his guns for safe keeping. But then a responsible family wouldn’t have gotten involved in a drunken brawl to begin with.

Senate adopts Planned Parenthood bill, to take up civil service

Republicans in the state Senate on Wednesday approved a bill cutting funding for Planned Parenthood of Wisconsin and were scheduled to overhaul the state’s century-old hiring process.

They were also set to pass another bill reducing government payments to Planned Parenthood.

Lawmakers are taking up the legislation cutting Planned Parenthood’s funding while a separate measure backed by abortion opponents remains stalled. The legislation that isn’t advancing — at least for now — would ban research on aborted fetal tissue.

Along party lines, senators voted 18-14 for Senate Bill 238, which would restrict how much Planned Parenthood could be reimbursed for prescription drugs, stripping it of some $7.5 million a year. Another bill the Senate is to take up later Wednesday would cut another $3.5 million in government payments to Planned Parenthood.

I like avocado on BLTs.

As I don’t like bacon, lettuce, or tomatoes, I suppose I am not qualified to comment on that.

However, I do have a problem with putting a mushy-anything with a soft bread. The bread just asorbs the liquid and becomes mush itself.

No, I’d rather eat avocados exactly as Cthulhu intended - fresh.

I don’t want to hear Republicans lecture me and other Democrats on personal responsibility again when their former VP nominee is literally blaming the President for their child’s acts of violence. When Mr. w was in college (about 10 years ago) he did some tutoring when requested by his political science teacher, who gave him a special assignment one time. This professor had an advisee who was a brilliant 16 year old college student who, as the prof said, didn’t care for fellow members of her species very much. He asked Mr. w to work on that. The woman became an immigration attorney. That must be about the best way to serve one’s fellow humans these days. I think Mr. w succeeded.

She came over Saturday night. We decided to order pizza, and the first thing she said about that was, ‘I’m allergic to pineapple.’

She’s a keeper.

Dole: Trump Would ‘Be A Better Standard-Bearer For The Party’ Than Cruz

Bob Dole has already endorsed Jeb Bush, and it sounds as though he’s given up on him too, if this interview is any indication.

“I question his allegiance to the party,” Mr. Dole said of Mr. Cruz. “I don’t know how often you’ve heard him say the word ‘Republican’ — not very often.” Instead, Mr. Cruz uses the word “conservative,” Mr. Dole said, before offering up a different word for Mr. Cruz: “extremist.”

“I don’t know how he’s going to deal with Congress,” he said. “Nobody likes him.”

But Mr. Dole said he thought Mr. Trump could “probably work with Congress, because he’s, you know, he’s got the right personality and he’s kind of a deal-maker.

Ouch and hahahaha

I’m not saying she’s beyond criticism or that one should support Trump because of her endorsement (I haven’t made up my own mind yet, and I swing almost daily between Cruz and Rubio), but perhaps we should consider that the combination of her personal relationship with Trump, her personal experience suffering from years of the most vicious and personal attacks directed at any current or former politician in the United States, and her deep convictions regarding policy priorities for the next president have led her to this decision. In other words, she’s not simply hunting for headlines — she’s doing what she thinks is best for the country she loves.

She’s not hunting for headlines like I’m not seeking out powder skiing.

Afternoon highlight was a short trolley tour around Hershey (which only exists as a post office, not as an incorporated town) and some touristy stuff. Which did include making my own chocolate bar and getting lose in a large store of chocolate products for an hour.

I find it difficult to stomach Palin’s whining. Firstly, why is she out campaigning if her son was having issues serous enough to lead to the current situation? And she wants to blame the system? And her idiotic public persona and the incendiary comments she makes, well, those probably cause a lot of pressure on her family. I mean, it’s not like Bristol got pregnant once out of wedlock. Or most of the family get into a drunken brawl right.

All it demonstrates is that while Palin blathers on about family values, it seems she doesn’t value her own family that much.

No, Sarah, it’s simply a case of bad breeding, shitty role models, and endless entitlement. Really, it’s consistent with the inherent assholishness that permeates your family’s DNA of whiny, laughable, illiterate bullies.

If this was just another kid from the ‘hood, he’d have sky high bail, shitty legal representation, and was lucky to not get shot to pieces during the arrest because he’d been armed.

I hope the girlfriend he battered runs like hell and hires a good lawyer. Thing is, I doubt he’ll come out of this with so much as a scratch. Anyone else’s life would be ruined.

re: #130 Wendell Zurkowitz (slave to the waffle light)

Ouch and hahahaha

shows how much he is despised within his own party

Dole most likely despises his own party after they voted against the ADA.

Former Senator Bob Dole of Kansas sat slightly slumped in his wheelchair on the Senate floor on Tuesday, staring intently as Senator John Kerry gave his most impassioned speech all year, in defense of a United Nations treaty that would ban discrimination against people with disabilities.

Senators from both parties went to greet Mr. Dole, leaning in to hear his wispy reply, as he sat in support of the treaty, which would require that people with disabilities have the same general rights as those without disabilities. Several members took the unusual step of voting aye while seated at their desks, out of respect for Mr. Dole, 89, a Republican who was the majority leader.

Then, after Mr. Dole’s wife, Elizabeth, rolled him off the floor, Republicans quietly voted down the treaty that the ailing Mr. Dole, recently released from Walter Reed National Military Medical Center, so longed to see passed.

A majority of Republicans who voted against the treaty, which was modeled on the Americans With Disabilities Act, said they feared that it would infringe on American sovereignty.

Uh, did I miss something here? Is the Oregon National Guard and the State Police unavailable? If she wants these nutters gone tomorrow, why doesn’t she do anything about it? Oh right, because governors of both stripes prefer to have the Feds do the dirty work and take the blame if things go wrong.

It was one of those moments you thought they had sunk low as possible but then they surprised by doing something even lower.

Read this and was like “what, why is a Jew new calling another Jew that?”
Actually he called him a “yehudon” which translates that way but is used by the Israeli rightwing as a derogatory term.

I’m going to be happy when Bibi finally is gone. He continues to treat anyone associated with this administration with utter contempt because of his own political prejudices.

In other news, I found out the Richard Denton & Martin Cook, who wrote themes from many kid’s TV shows when I was growing up, also wrote a rather funky theme for a forgotten mid-70s detective show “Quiller”, which is regarded as bit of a breakbeat source by many old-skool hip-hop DJs:

maybe because it’s federal property not state.

It’s Jan 20th and they’re only now getting around to their first execution? What, did all their executioners just get back from extended holidays?

They were killing time.

In all fairness to the Japanese, my understanding is they view our cuisine as every bit as strange. Mostly it’s that everything is either too sweet, too spicy, or too salty. Plus our propensity for putting cheese on virtually everything.

When Japanese friends came to visit and stayed with my parents my mother served a breakfast of coffee cake, scrambled eggs, cheese grits—-they all took a couple of bites and tried not to vomit. Later they confided that the smell alone first thing in the morning was nauseating. I had the same reaction the first morning in Japan I had a big bowl of natto placed in front of me to put on my rice (with a side of grilled salmon and cabbage salad) for breakfast. I learned to like it, though. I also still love coffee cake and cheese grits.

Jonah gets done with a long whine about how Republicans aren’t responsible for Flint…on the same day Snyder releases a bunch of emails that includes an email acknowledging that the final word on the decision to switch water sources came from the guy that Snyder appointed.

RAH RAH GO TEAM indeed…even if the cold, hard evidence proves you wrong.

Dark could learn something from Jonah.

Surprising, since her son served under George W. Bush.
