If the FOX ratings show a yoooooge dip due to his non-presence will he and the media say it shows how much people are into Trump politically?

I wish there was some way the ratings people could find out how many people are watching the GOP debates for the pure fun of watching the clown show, the pie eating and capturing the greased pig contests?

94
451_Montag  Jan 27, 2016 • 3:37:35pm

Has anyone ever read the book “Stark” by Ben Elton? From about 1989, by a top class comedian, one of the first British political alternative left wing comedians.

A novel about capitalism and climate change due to pollution, which is even more relevant today, blisteringly funny.

Only mention it because of a character called Gordon Gordon, a Nazi skinhead thug in Australia. The description of his character and organisation is soooooo like the Bundy Brigade.

Well worth a read. In fact the history of late 80s British political comedy is amazing. So many famous names came from it. Same era as Blackadder.

re: #86 Targetpractice

I earlier said that all this was turning out to be a textbook example of why the Second Civil War would be over in a month. It seems to also be turning into a perfect example of just how utterly fucking useless a militia really is. No planning, no organization, minimum training, and a total aversion to hardship. About the only thing the militia ever proved capable of doing was fighting from a fortified position, and I expect that we’re about to see that these morons can’t even do that right.

The militia in the Revolution was better than that actually…but it also had a real chain of command that was legally enforceable.

The militia kept the war going in SC and NC after we lost Charlestown and prevented the British from doing anything but commanding the piece of ground they happened to be standing on. The militia defeated British regulars in open battle at King’s Mountain, and Campbell’s Rifles and the Guilford Militia fought a see saw action against the 1st Guards and Von Bose Hessians for over an hour at Guilford Courthouse. Most Continental Army units could not have managed that.

You almost have to feel bad for these loons. First their grand Waco/Ruby Ridge fantasy didn’t play out for weeks. Then the locals told them to GTFO, rather than joining in their “revolution.” Followed by that was the ridicule and dildos. And now, after weeks of freezing their nuts off in the dead of winter while jerking off to copies of Guns & Ammo, the FBI finally drops the hammer and all their buddies scatter like roaches. Their leaders are behind bars, they’re totally cut off from reinforcements or resupplies, the FBI is not rushing in but instead allowing them to flee with tails tucked between legs, and their fantasies about the military coming to join them are not becoming reality.

Their only consolation prize at this point is they can spend months flogging the corpse of Tarp Man as a “martyr,” assuming the FBI doesn’t release video showing him charging the cops.

The whole damn thing is a fantasy out of a crazy mind. Same thing with all these idiot patriots. I always wonder what it is that causes such huge disconnects from the real world?

One thing that is worrisome is it’s very apparent they find similar thinking on the ‘net and that probably helps make them nuttier as they feed each other more and more loony thinking. The same sources probably help create new ones better too and once they are in they find a group to be a part of. Sad and dangerous.

Someone I used to share a flat with was a serving member of 3 Para. He carried out at least twenty military jumps a year in training to be able to do it for real if he was ever called on. He was working towards a jump instructor slot and had signed up for HALO and Arctic Warfare jumpschool too. He had some wonderful stories to tell about flying in aircraft where, as he put it, “it was a good thing everybody on board had a parachute”.

Retired SEALs wouldn’t get the chance to keep up their jump ratings unless they’re Reserve in which case they’re not retired. Civilian jumps aren’t the same thing, you don’t get to go out the door of a Cessna with a 40kilo drop bag tethered to your thigh.

Heard the same about the CH53 and the H-60, that there’s an acceptable level of oil leakage and if the ground under the bird is dry, that means the lines are likely dry and you’re gonna have a bad flight.

Problem was, that seemed to be an exception, not the rule, when it came to the militias.

re: #212 TedStriker

Problem was, that seemed to be an exception, not the rule, when it came to the militias.

Militias were rarely expected to go toe to toe with British troops for extended periods. Gates was an idiot for trying it at Camden. Militia could be effectively used on a regular basis if handled with care and some innovation.

Case in point is General Dan Morgan at Cowpens, who used the militia in a staggered two line defensive position in front of the Continentals and had them withdraw after the second volley, which freed them up to perform a lateral envelopment later on in the battle.

A similar tactic at Guilford Courthouse did not work because the lines were too far apart to support one another and the forest inhibited communication and increased confusion. The militia still wrecked havoc on the British, which experienced a 28% casualty rate.

Among big counties, Utah County, Utah, containing the Provo area, is the most Republican (Romney won 157,000 to 17,000, and McCain won 122,000 to 29,000, so it wasn’t just being Mormon).

re: #264 Charles Johnson

Trump keeps saying he’s “not going to let” big companies move their operations to other countries. How exactly is he going to stop them? Doesn’t anybody care that he’s talking about outright fascism here?

Trump offshored his clothing line manufacture to Mexico and China. He could have had it made in NY - in the Garment District. He could have had them made anywhere in the US, but decided to put his profits ahead of American workers.

And there’s not much any politician can do to stop corporate inversions or offshoring jobs, short of fixing the corporate tax structure and figuring out ways to reclaim those lost tax revenues as companies hunt for the biggest tax breaks/cheapest environments in which to operate (or those places that offer the biggest tax breaks/corporate welfare).

But it’s still up to Congress to set tax policy, and the GOP can’t even agree on an in-caucus version, so Trump is just blowing smoke.

So tomorrow night Fox News has a program the call a “debate”.

The loudest voice in the room is the one who will not be there.

Question: how much of the debate is going to be obvious maneuvering to pound Trump?

Here is an interesting dilemma if you’re one of the geeks on stage - do you spend time trashing Trump, or do you spend time trashing your competitors on stage.

I think it would be foolish for Rubio not to go all out after Cruz because Rubio has to not finish down in the single digits with the other not-totally-whacked candidates like Kasich. Otherwise he’s finished too.

I think they will still attack Trump most likely with even more venom and warnings since he won’t be there to immediately bite back. And they will all go after Cruz too. He has no one to hide behind and they will use the work Trump has already done to depants Cruz.

Maybe we get to see a Cruz and Rubio slap fight. /

The “racing fuel” is probably methanol. Sounds like ethanol, must be the same huh?

Racing fuel, used in drag racing, is made up of almost 100 percent methanol, a non-drinkable form of alcohol used for industrial and automotive purposes, Seger said.

Initially, methanol can give the same effects as ethanol, which is used in the production of alcoholic beverages, but over time, it can result in symptoms ranging from blurred vision, nausea, vomiting and diarrhea to seizures, blindness, coma and death, depending on the amount and concentration of the methanol that was consumed, Seger said.

From, The Nashville Tennessean

Yep, drinking methanol is very high on the list of bad ideas one can do.

Rubio needs to go after Cruz because his strategy calls for him to finish second to Trump in NH. Bush, Kasich and Christie will go after Rubio because they need to finish ahead of him in NH. Hence, no-one will bother with the Donald, who may win both Iowa and NH on his way to the nomination.
