It’s Official: “MRA” Robert Stacy McCain Is Permanently Suspended From Twitter

Permaban
Wingnuts • Views: 57,020

Over the weekend we reported that Robert Stacy McCain, formerly known as a racist and neo-Confederate with white supremacist associations but now self-rebranded as a rabid “men’s rights activist,” had been suspended from Twitter.

We also noted that McCain had a second account, @SexTroubleBook, and was publicly tweeting from that account about his suspension, raging and whining about being persecuted just because he was a “conservative.” Of course, that’s absurd; for years McCain has been blatantly violating Twitter’s rules against targeted harassment, doing that misogynist “anti-feminist” MRA thing so popular with the GamerGate crowd.

Well, folks, today we learn that McCain’s second account has also been suspended. It’s beginning to look like Robert Stacy McCain has joined stalker Chuck C. Johnson in permanent ban land.

UPDATE at 2/22/16 11:47:39 am by Charles Johnson

At his blog, McCain has posted the notice he got from Twitter; yep, it’s a permaban, all right.

Speaking of the Confederate sympathizers, National Racists Online are desperate to stop Trump. They have put up several articles lamenting Trump in the past 24 hours. But it doesn’t go so well for them with most of their commenters.

It’s all sadly hilarious.

The hate right is collapsing into its event horizon.

Without a White demographic super majority, the GOP is finished. Trump’s proposals will stave off the ethnic cleansing of America for a few more years. Why is it that you all hate him when he is the most “conservative” on the only issue that matters in the long run?

They’re kind of straightforward, really. There is no mystery here.

Morning Joe TrumpComedian and voice actor Harry Shearer somehow got his hands on audio of Mika Brzezinski and Joe Scarborough chatting behind-the-scenes with Donald Trump in between breaks of their MSNBC town hall, playing it on his weekly radio show Le Show.

Throughout the six minutes or so, Trump and the MSNBC hosts chat amiably about a variety of topics, including politics, the primaries, golf, Morning Joe’s coverage of Trump’s campaign, and their fellow journalists. On at least one occasion, the duo appear to discuss questions for the next segment within earshot of Trump. At times it can be difficult to determine who is speaking to who; Brzezinski and Scarborough appear at several points to be speaking to producers who were not picked up by the mics at the same time they were speaking to Trump.

RELATED: MSNBC’s Donald Trump ‘Town Hall’ a Joke, and Not a Funny One

In his intro, Shearer explains that he was broadcasting the audio after news reports suggesting the Morning Joe hosts were too close with the Republican presidential candidate. “You can cut the adversarial tension there with a knife,” Shearer jokes. “A butter knife, but still.”

“You know what I thought was kind of a wow moment, was the guy you brought up on stage,” Brzezinski began by telling Trump.

“We played it several times this morning,” Scarborough put in.

“I watched your show this morning,” Trump responded. “You have me almost as a legendary figure, I like that.”

After that, Brzezinski thanked Trump for agreeing to the interview. “You, you get great ratings and a raise,” he told her. “Me, I get nothing.”

“This will make us all look good,” Trump said, to which Scarborough replied, “Exactly.”

The GOP Is In The Middle Of A Holy War, But Voters Might Not Care

It’s getting ugly out there in Jesusland.

The GOP presidential primary waded into something akin to spiritual warfare this weekend, with Ted Cruz’s campaign releasing a video ostensibly showing political rival Marco Rubio remarking on the Bible. The audio of the encounter is faint, but the caption on the Cruz video quoted Rubio saying the following as he pointed to the holy scripture: “Got a good book there. Not many answers in it — especially in that one.”

The revelation, if true, would have cast Rubio as a Bible basher — a literal sin among most evangelicals. But Rubio’s campaign quickly issued a statement saying the captions were, in fact, incorrect, and that Rubio actually said the exact opposite, quipping, “All the answers are in there — especially in that one [the Bible].”

The Cruz campaign immediately apologized for the mix-up, acknowledging that their characterization of the incident was false

Can someone give me a short description of what the GamerGate controversy is all about? I have tried to follow it but I just don’t get it. There was some issue with female game developers being harassed or was it the fact that games are for guys and they don’t want girls developing or even playing.

I mean, obviously, female characters in gaming have some weird body configurations, just like in comic books, but that’s a typical male fantasy, were developers suggesting they should be more like real life?

Thinking about working up enough where-with-all to write up all that’s wrong with Mooney’s latest article about Antarctica…

It’s probably futile.

Mostly, I concluded that dealing with climate change is too hard for our politics. Our system of governance just isn’t designed to deal with such a problem. Part of the problem is that some large share of the electorate just doesn’t care, but even for those who do care the problem is just too complex to be packaged into operable bits.

GamerGate is, on its face, a reaction to a female game developer who was accused of sleeping with reviewers in exchange for positive reviews of her games. This, of course, spiraled into a massive MRA clusterfuck about women and video games, but when asked, it was always about “ethics in gaming journalism”.

re: #78 Backwoods_Sleuth

Very much, and I realize I’m getting really repetitive here, this election and a great deal of the “anger” about which pundits are now talking arises from the worldview collapse that is ongoing.

But the pundits and the candidates will never discuss the problem analytically. They just play their parts.

When do you ever see a talking head on these news programs inquire about what is really behind churn in “evangelical” support for Cruz instead of for Trump, or vice versa?

Never do they follow up with detailed questions.

Hidden, but in clear view, is the real problem: All the Bible beating and preaching doesn’t address the problems people are facing.

That means the Bible and Je$u$ may not, after all, be “the answer”. Especially to modern complex questions like international trade deals and climate change.

But that is heresy, so they dare not utter it.

Thus the inner conflict that cannot be resolved.

Thus the “anger”.

She’s also a feminist of the first order and a certified badass, so I’ve no doubt she could handle herself, I’m just surprised she hasn’t had a run-in yet. Perhaps due to her lack of fame.

Nope, not even that. I’m sure it may have come up during the conversation; after all, boys will be boys. But first and foremost, it was about defending the Good Ol’ Boys Club that is gaming and nerddom.

Mostly it was a bunch of asshole misogynists worried that women game designers were going to make video games ‘politically correct’. That, to them, meant no more Call of Duty, no more Grand Theft Auto, no HALO.

Instead it was going to be all ‘socially adjusted’ or some shit like that.

They said it had to do with ‘Ethics in gaming’ but it was just asshole misogynist leets protecting their turf.

It has expanded to include that, in some circles. Because female characters that aren’t just eye candy are Oppression of the Menz and Social Justice Warrioring.

Which also expanded to Diversity in Gaming is teh White Genocide, and any protagonist that isn’t a straight white male is also Social Justice Warrioring.

And if Twitter were serious about harassment from the start, and applied the ban-hammer early and often, much sorrow could have been avoided. And for the right wingers, they claim it looks like selective banning based on viewpoint, when it’s for conduct. Anyone who engages in TOS violations should be banned. Harassment is ban-hammer worthy.

For Chucky, it was revolving door treatment for months. McCain’s ban-hammer was long delayed.

re: #116 Belafon

Very much so:

Axton From Borderlands 2 is Bi-sexual Due to a Programming Error

According to Burch though, this was purely an oversight and it was never intended for Axton to be anything other than a guy who just really liked shooting people in the face with increasingly hilarious looking guns. When he dropped this bit of information in the Borderlands 2 forums and saw that fans were disappointed that Axton wasn’t intentionally written as being bi-sexual, he had a revelation. Why the fuck couldn’t Axton be a bi-sexual? It’s not like Axton’s sexuality had any impact on the story.

With this in mind, Burch got in contact with Axton’s voice actor and had him record new dialogue for the character to make his bisexuality a little more obvious and then went ahead and made this facet of his character official in terms of canon. Of course after this was announced Burch got a ton of hate-mail from a fans who didn’t like that they’d been tricked into playing through the game as a bi-sexual character, seemingly oblivious to the fact that the not noticing or caring about Axton’s sexuality was supposed to be the fucking point. But hey, the kind of people who complain about that sort of thing tend to be dickheads anyway, so we can’t really be surprised that they got freaked out when a guy who likes having sex with men and women was in their game about shooting giant robots with exploding laser guns.

Unperturbed by the complaints of whiny piss-baby man-children, Burch doubled down and made sure everyone knew that he’d intentionally filled the world of Borderlands 2 with gay and bi-sexual characters purely because he wanted a game full of diverse characters representative of every walk of life and also because why the hell not? Being gay doesn’t mean you can’t be a badass, hell, the arguably the coolest (and most popular) characters in the entire game, Sir Hammerlock, a gentlemen hunter with a robot arm and Mister Torgue a muscle-bound, board game loving gun nut who tasks you with blowing up the entire ocean are gay and bisexual respectively.

Will they ever understand that Twitter has the right to censor WHATEVER THE FUCK IT WANTS on account of being a PRIVATE CORPORATION and not the GOVERNMENT????

No wait, don’t anwer that. I don’t want to know.

I understand the RW quandry when it comes to Twitter. A lot of them can’t stand Twitter, they’d rather go to an alternative where they can hate as much as they want to with impunity.

The problem is Twitter is where their audience is and they need that audience for clicks because they need the clicks for money and they need the money to continue hating.

As badly as they want to leave, it’s too economically damaging to them to actually do so. So they stay. And whine. And bitch. And moan.

I’ve dabbled with Twitter several times but the stupidity and anger and hatred of some of the people on there makes me fearful of what could potentially happen to me if I try and build a stronger presence there.

And I’m not alone. There’s a reason their company is struggling. There’s a reason they’re having a hard time bringing in new users.

Banning CCJ and Robert Stacy Mccain is good but there’s still SO much more to do before I honestly believe Twitter is serious about cleaning itself up.

Hell, I don’t care how old you are, go ahead try it with your mom and let me know how it works out for you, m’kay?

BTW, all this whiny crap also reminds me of a former lizard constantly bitching about how awful boycotting is, how it’s a kind of censorship. Yes, it IS a form of censorship—one that’s protected by the First Amendment. I was just looking up censorship according to the ACLU (who can be annoying at times, but still):

What is Censorshop?

Censorship, the suppression of words, images, or ideas that are “offensive,” happens whenever some people succeed in imposing their personal political or moral values on others. Censorship can be carried out by the government as well as private pressure groups. Censorship by the government is unconstitutional.

In contrast, when private individuals or groups organize boycotts against stores that sell magazines of which they disapprove, their actions are protected by the First Amendment, although they can become dangerous in the extreme.

aclu.org

So yeah, assholes, you’re 100% free to be total douchebags and private citizens and organizations are 100% free to tell you to they’re not going to listen to your B.S. Free speech is a two-way street—deal with it.

They will point to a nonexistent Thurmond Rule. Or that Obama did it. Or Biden.

Except that Thurmond rule doesn’t exist. Never has.

And Obama’s vote to filibuster was on the losing end, and the SCt. nominee was confirmed in a timely fashion. Same with Biden. Neither stopped a vote or confirmation process before it even began.

The GOP is simply trying to subvert the Constitution by claiming the President shouldn’t even nominate someone, which is his Constitutional obligation.

By trying to keep the President from even nominating, it takes pressure off GOP from having to actively block a nominee, especially one that is likely to be supremely qualified to do the job. But that’s exactly the boat the GOP is in. They might delay as much as possible, but in the end, they’ll only look bad.

Well, Trump wins the polls today - NC and IL. Last night with MA.

Tuesday is the NV caucuses for the GOP - there will be machinations.

Then there is another “debate”, Thursday on CNN.

Then next week is Super Tuesday.

Should be a wild 8 days.

Menawhile, rightwingers are arguing over whether Rubio or Cruz should drop out of the race to save the party from Trump. Pass the popcorn, please!

Back to news from Kansas:
Kobach calls out ‘communist League of Women Voters’

Kansas Secretary of State Kris Kobach labeled the ACLU and the League of Women Voters as “communists” for challenging the state’s voter ID law, The Tonganoxie Mirror reports.

Kobach, who pushed for the law, which requires voters to show proof of citizenship in order to register, made the comments Saturday at the convention of the Kansas Republican Party. He made sure those in attendance knew where he stood when commenting about challenges to the law by the American Civil Liberties Union and League of Women Voters.

“The ACLU and their fellow communist friends, the League of Women Voters — you can quote me on that, the communist League of Women Voters — the ACLU and the communist League of Women Voters sued,” Kobach said.

I realize that the people of color and women and other minority users who have just stopped using Twitter - with little to no fanfare, mind you - because of the constant trolling and harassment just don’t exist to them, but it’s this gaping blind spot that shows up when you read through the arguments.

There’s a reason my Twitter account pretty much talks about hockey and cross stitch and other non-offensive personal stuff. I’m never going to get a huge following that way, and I’m okay with that. I don’t have the time or patience to deal with harassment. It makes me sad that some of my favorite people on Twitter have had to quit for their own sanity because of that harassment.

Frakking wonderful.

I went to go clock out today at the school where I am working with profoundly delayed EC kids again…and the secretary had a sealed envelope for me. It turns out to be from this alleged newspaper wanting to dig into some rumor that I am a she/male or somesuch alternating as a guy and a gal to the students.

Since Feb.11, I’ve been contacted by several parents about you substituting as a teacher at (redacted) while dressed some days as a man and others as a woman…it has stirred up quite a bit of conversation (and yes, controversy) among parents and students, as well as some concerns and questions.

The letter went on to tell me to contact (redacted) before Wednesday when they run this “story”.

The secretary had no idea what was in the envelope and apologized when I showed it to her. My supervisor was horrified. I immediately took the letter to the district office, where my recruiter told me (unsurprisingly) to not contact these people and that they would investigate. Also, I was to call immediately if I was approached in any way. Guilford County Schools has a definitive policy of GLBT inclusion for students and staff.

My spouse totally freaked and wants me to quit. She thinks we are being stalked now and I that I might be assaulted.

All this for frakking showing up teaching the lesson plan of the day, week in and week out, in size 18 black pants, flat boots from Torrid and a top from Belks.

I bet the establishment would throw everything they can behind Kasich because he is a known entity and is electable. Kasich has also in a way boxed Trump in as the nutty campaigner and blowhard. Trump attacking him the way he does the junior Senators will not work as it will play into Kasich’s characterization of Trump. He really could be the Trump killer the Repubs are looking for.

And I doubt Kasich would share a ticket as a VP candidate. His ego will not allow that. It’s presidential candidate or back to Ohio to finish his term as governor and then retirement.

This is not an endorsement, just the facts.

The Republican party around here is not what it is in Texas. Certainly there are plenty of atavists. The key for local Republicans is to be pro-development in pretty much any circumstance. However, they tend to support strange combinations of “crunchy” and “development”.

To whit, the local GOP is urging people to go out tomorrow and vote for this:

The Republican Party of San Diego County urges all City of Carlsbad Republicans to vote Yes on Measure A in the February 23rd special election.

Among other things, Measure A supporters claim:

MEASURE A COMMITMENT: TO THE ENVIRONMENT LAGOON PRESERVATION

DOES MEASURE A MEET OR EXCEED ALL OF THE CITY’S AND STATE’S WATER QUALITY CODES AND IMPROVE WATER QUALITY IN THE LAGOON?

Yes. According to the City’s independent analysis, Measure A includes an array of steps to improve water quality and protect the lagoon; and Measure A must be approved by the California Coastal Commission and meet the State of California’s water quality control standards.

Measure A also fully funds water quality innovations that are specifically designed to protect the habitat and waters of the lagoon and to ensure runoff is clean and healthy for families, the area’s habitat, and the wildlife that lives there.

WATER CONSERVATION WILL MEASURE A CONSERVE WATER?

Yes. As the City’s independent analysis outlines, the plan will use less drinking water (potable water) than with “no project” because of water conservation efforts and the required utilization of recycled water throughout the plan area for all non-human consumption uses.

DOES MEASURE A ADDRESS ALL OTHER ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACTS?

Yes. According to California State law, California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA), is not required, but as stated on the city’s website, the plan provided more than 4,000 pages of environmental analysis and in keeping with what would be included through CEQA in a full Environmental Impact Report (EIR) and includes comprehensive environmental protection measures to mitigate environmental impacts.

Which sounds nice… and perhaps it will be.

But Measure A is really about building a new mall, but trying to ensure it is an upscale mall, and not one for the riff-raff:

Yes on Measure A, supported unanimously by the Carlsbad Mayor and City Council, is a community-based plan for 203 acres of land between the on the south shore of the Agua Hedionda Lagoon and Cannon Road that enhances the Carlsbad way of life by preserving 176 acres of new open space with miles of hiking trails, sustaining strawberry farming for generations to come, and creating an open-air, pedestrian-friendly shopping and dining promenade with lagoon vistas, that will be anchored by Nordstrom.

To emphasize:

DOES MEASURE A PROHIBIT CERTAIN TYPES OF STORES?
Yes. Measure A prohibited uses include discount stores, outlets, gas stations, supercenters and automotive stores, to name a few.

So the whole thing is about presenting an upscale lifestyle, while making the aging yuppies feel good about preserving the lagoon and some strawberry fields.

Anyway, that’s what Republicanism is all about here in California.

Which is why Ted Cruz won’t do so well here.

re: #330 Charles Johnson

I think that in its first six months of operation, The NeckBeard Nutz who run their fancy new extortion market (based on previous comments by Le Furby au Rage) will become a place for lawsuit futures. And in two years, a source for prosecution futures.

Still hard to see how they’re going to monetize something that in all likelihood is going to wind up being free. Thankfully, given how incredibly (cohgh) successful (cough) the GotNews empire has been up to this point, I suspect there isn’t going to be much to worry about, as the ol’ boy seems to have this nasty habit of pulling a Kristol everytime he gets near something. At least it appears he got smart enough to burn someone else’s capital in this dubious dalliance.

This team has all the makings of giving Winchellism a bad name.

I’ve been saying that for how long now? Many a LGF member has downplayed Kasich from the beginning. You shouldn’t. He will do well in the Midwest. Get rid of Cruz and Carson and watch Kasich pass Rubio.

All I can say/hope for is that Johnny’s true personality comes out eventually. Looked and looked for his obnoxious Plain Dealer performance with FitzGerald. The Plain Dealer tried to deep six it big time, but VOILA—found a LiveLeak version of the most obnoxious part at Wonkette.

I think I will definitely watch the opening of Morning Joke tomorrow. I have a feeling Joke Scarborough is going to try to bellow his way out of being seen by the world as a Trump butt kisser. Mike will act like she just got caught in Trumps magnetic personality.

By the way…I just saw this image at Media Matters. It says it all.

Joke Scarborough: Have I told you how much I love you Donald? Maybe I should tell you again, and again, and again. Mika: Sigh. I know I shouldn’t but I want to!

Link to story and picture: Media Matters - 8 Things Trump And Morning Joe Hosts Discussed When Cameras Were Off

The 8 overheard exchanges.

- After Scarborough told Trump that “all the polls out today look great in South Carolina,” Trump asked Scarborough if he thinks super PAC ads against him are catching on, noting, “they’re spending $75 million in negative ads on me over the last two weeks.” Scarborough replied, “No.”

- Brzezinski pointed out what she described as a “wow moment” on the campaign trail when Trump brought two supporters up on stage. Scarborough told Trump, “We played it several times this morning.” Trump responded by telling the pair that he watched the show that day and observed, “You had me almost as a legendary figure.” Indeed, Gawker highlighted video of the hosts airing the video of the supporters that day on Morning Joe, which concludes with Scarborough calling the moment “quite powerful”

- Scarborough told Trump “we were completely wrong” in thinking he did poorly in the February 13 Republican debate. He later told the candidate that “the people who mattered” thought he did well.
- After Brzezinski thanked Trump for participating in the town hall event, Trump said, “I’m doing this because you get great ratings and a raise — me, I get nothing.”
Brzezinski can be heard asking, reportedly to a producer, “You don’t want me to do the ones with deportation?” which is followed by Trump saying, “That’s right, nothing too hard, Mika.”

- Trump asked Scarborough, “So what are the chances that something bad can happen on Saturday for me?” — an apparent reference to the South Carolina primary. Scarborough reassured Trump by pointing out that polls in the election so far have done a good job of predicting primary results.

- Trump and Scarborough discuss Trump’s golf game.

- Scarborough told Trump that National Journal columnist Ron Fournier “understands” Trump’s campaign now after visiting Michigan, where he “got an earful” from Trump’s supporters. (Trump said Fournier “has been brutal.”) Scarborough added that The Washington Post’s Chris Cillizza “has completely changed,” and Trump responded, “Cillizza’s been fantastic.”

Yep, that is Kasich. Look at him slacking down in his chair like a bored 15 year old that doesn’t want to hear anything about women and their issues.

I wonder how much this gets out in the media? If he starts to gain, we will see.

And damn, that is not The Cleveland Plain Dealer I knew. So sad. They used to be the liberal paper in Ohio. I guess it’s just more of the liberal media.

Shouldn’t Twitchy be banned from Twitter next? Don’t they get their followers to engage in targeted harassment? They seem to be the leader of the mob.

This came across my FB feed just a bit ago. I thought the many lizard musicians might appreciate the ingenuity of the designs.

I can’t see doing that to a guitar, even a cheap one.

As a Spanish-speaker, I’m just chuckling at the literal translation of this to “Stinky Water Lagoon”.

re: #115 The Vicious Babushka

I was so flattered when my granddaughter (13) said she wants to learn Computer Science “So I can be just like you Bubbbie!” but then she said she wants to create GAMES.

I’m like no, nope, learn how to make CARS instead.

I’m in the games industry. The games industry itself is mostly fine and getting better, although we still do have a hell of a gender gap in our employees. Most game devs tend to be artists, live in socially liberal places, and if/when we are sexist, do so out of ignorance rather than malice. Note: this is a massive generalization.

The fans are another thing altogether. As games become more acceptable by more people, the hardcore gamers who feel like the hobby is moving away from them have become more indignant and defensive about that fact. This will change over time - we’re already at the state where more women game than men, but most of that is in ‘non-gamer’ games (i.e. mobile games, for example) that these hardcore gamers have utter disdain for. But the next generation of kids is going to grow up with both genders having gamed heavily from a very young age.
