GOP Debate Thread 1: Clown Car Getting Lighter

Politics • Views: 47,337

We’re down to five passengers in the GOP clown car now: Donald Trump, Marco Rubio, Ted Cruz, John Kasich and Ben Carson. Carson’s sleeping in the backseat, Kasich is sitting as far away from Trump as he can get, Rubio’s installing the latest OS in his debating card, and Cruz is totally creeping everyone out as usual.

They’re showing this debacle, I mean debate, on cnn.com and supposedly you can watch it stream over the web without logging in to a cable account tonight.

Here’s out first thread to point and laugh. Donald Trump’s going to be on the attack and under attack, and the other candidates are really getting desperate now; it should be … colorful. With any luck a fist fight will break out.

Repeating from TWO threads ago—because we probably all need a little Democratic “stuff” while the clowns are performing:

Wow—I have some serious catching up to do here, folks. But just got back from the Hillary GOTV rally. Woman is amazing—don’t know how she does it. The photo somebody took of her with me didn’t come out (of course) but I got several good shots—front row, baby.

After she talked, she went around the room shaking hands, taking photos with anyone who asked (the woman is a selfie queen!) and talking to everyone. There were about 500 in the room, and probably another 4-500 outside—they only had one scanner thingy, so many didn’t make it in time. Not bad for an event they put together less than 2 days ago.

A few of my pics:

Hispanic values are also family, community, and giving, things that the GOP considers to be buzz words.

Rove and Bush knew that and used it to good advantage in 2000, and they did the same with Muslim voters. And then, when September 2001 rolled around, they dropped them like so many hot potatoes.

Ayep, that was my first thought, that he can’t handle racial issues without seguing into something totally unrelated. It is, as somebody noted to me the other day, a very white privileged viewpoint, that the problems in minority communities can be addressed by colorblind policies.

A common conservative talking point is that affirmative action should be color blind and just focus on giving the economically disadvantaged a leg up. In practice, that color blindness would last about 3 seconds in many places.

Actually, most territory everywhere in the US supports the GOP (rural counties usually have large area). It is the people concentrated in the cities that tend to not like what they see from the GOP. That’s why GOP idiots are so very fond of their maps where they get to color huge empty counties red.

I think within 10 years a GOP apparatchik will provide the following obvious proposal: Disenfranchise the blacks, and record votes from cows that agree with their owner’s votes.

Setting morality aside, it is a logical thing for team (R) to do to increase its power.

re: #497 Brian J.

Trumpy Dumpy is even more obnoxious when he rants about election returns than when he rants about polls.

Hillary will pick her teeth with any of these asshats.

WAIT TILL TRUMP BRINGS UP BENGHAZI!!!

re: #500 StephenMeansMe

Nobody in the GOP wants to think about the meaning of Trump walking away with 100% of the delegates in primaries by winning a slim plurality of votes.

That’s just 19 days from now. There’s just no realization of how compressed this schedule is.

My recent work-related experience is that any case can be lost by anyone at any time.
