Time Magazine Photographer Choked and Kicked by Trump Security at Rally

Escalating violence at Donald Trump’s rallies

With Donald Trump’s penchant for inciting anger and violence at protesters and media at his rallies, today it’s being reported that Time Magazine photographer Chris Morris was choked and thrown to the ground by a Trump security guard.

Morris told an NBC journalist earlier that he did nothing to provoke the violence, except to put one foot outside the press pen while photographing protesters.

It’s being reported now that Morris was assaulted by a USSS agent, not a private Trump security guard, but isn’t yet confirmed by the Secret Service.

Democrats need to tie all these threads together. The GOP is dangerous, and people like McCain enabled it (thanks to giving Palin a platform for her nonsensical ravings). The inmates now run the GOP asylum, and you can’t tell the difference between establishment and outsider since they’re only differing in presentation, not goals.

I wouldn’t be surprised to see even 70% or 80% of the party line up behind Trump. But you don’t win with 70% or 80% of your own party supporting you.

There will definitely be holdouts, even if they’re only holding out because they think a Trump win would harm the party long-term more than a loss.

Back in New Jersey, county GOP leaders were taken aback because they were supposed to meet with Christie this week, when they expected to talk about possible endorsements. They were also starting to coalesce around Florida Sen. Marco Rubio, whom Christie harbors personal disdain for (the New York Times reported Christie thought Rubio was disrespectful to him in a recent voicemail message).

So Christie didn’t want to back Rubio and he needed to act fast — supporting Trump before Super Tuesday, which could propel the candidate to the nomination, maximizes the value of an endorsement.

Our lists of Featured and Recent LGF pages in the right sidebar now have beautiful images (as long as the Page was saved with a “meta image”).

Also, the images are actual small thumbnails, created on the fly as needed.

And when the front page is loaded on a small screen like a smart phone, all the images are now small thumbnail images instead of resized full-size images. This means loading the front page on a mobile phone is now an order of magnitude faster and uses much less data bandwidth.

I’m really not in favor of first-term Senators running for POTUS—and yes I realize Obama did this (and I believe Edwards was at the end of his first term when he first ran).

In Obama’s case, I’ll only say that at least he was running on a bi-partisan, bring-everybody-together kind of platform. I know wingnuts don’t see it that way, but like many Democratic centrists of years past, he ran attempting to sidestep and transcend ideological divisions. And there’s just a dignity about Obama that made it not seem like a ridiculous decision to vote for him.

But the Cruz-Rubio-Paul gang have been all conservative ideology all the time. Nothing high-minded about any of their campaigns. That makes their ambition and inexperience particularly worrisome.

But in general I’d would prefer POTUS candidates to have run for re-election in some notable office before making the big leap.

If we lived in a sane country, this would have been generally acknowledged. That it wasn’t is pretty much diagnostic.

Honestly I don’t get hung up too much on experience. I want someone who seems like they’re up to task. I got the impression Obama was up to task for the job. I have not gotten that vibe with Rubio and looking back on it, I didn’t with Edwards either. I think Kerry messed up by making Edwards his VP pick. Not as bad as Palin for McCain of course but not as wise as Gore for Clinton or Biden for Obama. Granted Kerry was plenty experienced in his own right so he was in a different situation than Clinton and Obama were. going in.

I said the same thing about Rand when Rand was running. i don’t like Rand Paul at all but Rand seems to at least show up. Rubio, you’re right seems to just see his Senate seat as a resume item more so than an actual job and it’s been like that with his other jobs too. There was a story that he was frequently absent from a 9/11 commission he pushed hard to be a part of.

America’s relatively short history is already littered with cases of how poorly some very experienced candidates have done in the presidency—Buchanan, Hoover—being I think the most prominent. So experience not always a good judge of performance.

I remember when the GOP was pushing the “We built it!” meme (as a counter to Obama and Warren’s “You didn’t build that!”) and some fellow at the 2012 GOP convention placed the “WE BUILT IT” banner directly above a US debt clock.

Thanks. I did not know about that most excellent bit of humor. It’s still the top hit for a Google image search of ‘“we built it” debt clock’.

(pedantry warning: the sign is below the debt clock, but this make no difference)

I have only four first cousins and share a birthday with one of them. (8 years apart, but same date.)

I don’t share a birthday with any of mine but my brother is only 4-5 days older than one of ours. My brothers and I were all born in different decades. Granted they at the beginning of them and I at the tail end but it’s still something.

That’s true as welll. There’s the birtdhay paradox which I think is if you have 20 or so people in a room, you’re likely to share a birthday with one of them. I’ve never met anyone who shares my birthday. However in my family we do haev some people whose birthdays fall within a week from each other.

I share a birthday with four other extended family members. Late March seems to be a popular time for popping — my mom has said that the maternity ward nurses used to joke about ‘the March influx of June brides’.

I cannot say that I have met anyone personally who shares my birthday (to my knowledge at least) Odd. Anyone on line here born on March 31st?

My grandmother was born that day, 1892
