It’s the Cult Of The Cowboy. Saint Reaganomics. The Chickens Come Home To Roost. If you build it, he will come. If you build it he will come. If you build it…….He’s here. He is here. And he’s got your pretty hate machine firmly in his hands. And you who built that will now learn how to lie even more. Because you do not want to be excommunicated from your pretty hate machine. No. Too much work. You owe people. You withstood the purity tests. You burnt your bridges. You are now a brick in that fucking wall you built. Pass the popcorn, tomorrow the panic starts, because the GOP has no plan, never had a plan, and spent the last 7 years with no plan except HATE. Eat it. All yours.
I’m going to sleep the sleep of babes. Houston? We see flames from space. It’s a dumpster fire of Biblical proportions. Let the bodies hit da floor.

It’s all about the delegate count, and Cruz simply isn’t closing the gap with Trump. He’s still down by a wide margin.

Same story with Bernie. He could win OK and VT and it doesn’t help him as Hillary crushes him everywhere else.

By my tally on RCP, Clinton’s gotten at least 314 delegates. Bernie only has managed 122. That’s putting Hillary ahead by a huge margin - Bloomberg has her at 786 to 180 (inclusive of supers).

For the GOP, Trump remains ahead by a wide margin - 180 to 28 for Rubio and 22 for Cruz.

Bill and Opus for 2016!  Mar 1, 2016 • 6:35:38pm

I can see Rubio and Kasich staying in until March 15, when both Ohio and Florida hold their primaries - which are winner-take-all - and there is something to be said about Trump looking to be at least a little bit damaged by Republican voters. The issue of his associating with those aligned with white supremacy - since the number of times it has taken place is becoming far more than mere coincidence - is something that the other campaigns are going to hold over him like a Sword of Damocles.
Trump’s numbers are significantly down from just a few days ago, and primaries that were originally thought to be easy victories suddenly became competitive. Even though he won the majority of states tonight, the Trump juggernaut has definitely slowed.

To modify Moore’s statement a bit, if we’re going to throw out red states, we should also throw out states that the person could be a resident of, in this case VT and AR. If you do that, Clinton wins VA, and is ahead in MA.

I do this specifically to show how idiotic Moore’s statement is.

It’s also the one state that not even Ronald Reagan could win.

Rubio is remarkable in the depth of his denial, and he keeps saying he doesn’t have to win a state to win the nomination. The plan seems to be to blow up the convention. Should be interesting. I don’t know who told him he had the nomination in the bag, but that person [or those persons ] should be given a one-way ticket out of the U.S.

You could win the nomination by coming in a close second in every race if different people came in first. But Rubio isn’t coming in a close second, and the same person is winning most of the races.

Well, if the people that told Rubio he can get the nomination without winning anything are GOP power brokers who really can make this happen at the GOP convention, that would explain Rubio’s otherwise-irrational confidence.

However, GOP power brokers are kidding themselves if they think they can take the nomination away from Trump at the convention and then get Trump backers to fall in line.

Not even their shared hatred of Hillary Clinton would be enough for the Trumpists to forgive something like that.

Rubio’s been arguing that a majority of Republican voters are rejecting Cruz. Aye, tis true Marco but tis also true that they’re rejecting you by an even bigger margin. But maybe you can hang your head on the fact that Rush Limbaugh once called you a disciple of Ronald Reagan despite the fact you were pimple faced kid for much of the Reagan presidency who only learned what he did about the Reagan presidency from Reagan synchophants.

Did this actually happen or is this some nice prose
He sat. He eagerly awaited the results. I’ll win one of these states right? His advisers all told him that the people would love him. They’d love his humble being the son of Cuban immigrants. Sure, he embellished when he said they fled Castro but no one really checks this stuff. And then his adviser came in with the news that he was on pace to win one state. A smile came over Marco’s face until the adviser shot his hopes down by reminding him it was a state had not gone to the Republican Party in a General Election since Nixon.

I’m surprised by the percentage. I thought it was a toss-up. I’m just hoping the Berniacs here don’t stay home in November out of disappointment.

I really think even though there are a lot of loud Berniacs, most of them do get the big picture.

They were too entranced by her good looks to pay attention to her many shortcomings, I guess.

I’ve been guilty of that. :)

I’m OK if Ted Cruz and Donald Trump battle it out for the next few months, trading insults and mocking each other, maybe we’ll even see a slap fight during a debate.

I’m waiting for one of the Republican candidates to wield a big pistol at a rally or debate.

YOU SEE THIS, THIS IS A BIG GUN. IT PROTECTS ME BIGLY.

I’m all for making voting easier but that just leads to the possibility of fraud.

I wonder if Trump has managed to finally stick a fork in Palin’s meddling in GOP politics. He probably told her to get lost after that “endorsement speech” she gave, and to stay lost.

Palin really isn’t “in” politics full-time. She’s got a particularly well-developed version of wingnut welfare set up, where she’s got her PAC, her enclosed loop of followers that she solicits by email and Facebook. That she hasn’t stayed on the trail with Trump might be about her busy grifting schedule not meshing with his medicine show.

Also, God knows what her rate for one of those speeches is. Someone may have decided that one round of freeform seizure-poetry was sufficient.

Caucuses, especially not the “first in the nation bellweather” one, take a lot of time and depress voter turnout. Candidates with really passionate supporters benefit from this. Also candidates with supporters who are more likely to have the time off/ability to go spend an hour+ at the caucus site.

Our precinct went for Hillary 2:1 (Western Colorado). The way the math worked out, we have one delegate for her and one for Bernie from my precinct.

Here’s why I don’t feel bad for Marco Rubio at all though. The man is an asshole. The man shot down the Iranian deal without real principles and just did it as a way to make good with the Republican base. He had a chance to be a Republican leader on immigration reform but he was chickenshit so he didn’t show leadership there. He never shows up to committee meetings. He really seems to see the Senate not as a job but as a resume padder. If this is the beginning of the end for Marco Rubio, I say good riddance and hope Florida replaces him with someone worth a damn.

Minnesota wasn’t a shock honestly. Bernie’s continuing to show me he can’t win diverse states. That’s bad news frankly if he’s the nominee.

He won’t be the nominee. Not a chance.

re: #413 Reality Based Steve

Just saw some of the stunning political analysis that makes FreeRepugnant what it is. One of the posters noted that “Trump is wearing a BLUE tie, and since BLUE is the color they use for Democrats on the maps, it’s his way of showing that he will get the democrat vote this election, along with the republican vote. He’s a genius”

I don’t recall the exact phraseology, but that’s pretty darn close. You know you can’t argue with an argument like that, you just can’t. Don’t even try, you’ll only hurt your brain.

Not really a surprise - caucuses are for true believers and the populist side of his message plays well on the Iron Range. In the end, it means as little as RoboRubio’s win.

Worcester just came in for Hillary. I don’t think there are any other population centers out in MA. She’s up by 25,000 votes right now.

In a year Marco will be unemployed and just another former Republican sweetheart.

Read your Carl Hiaasen. Rubio is from Florida. He will never want for corrupt money.
