SB212 (BR1809) - A. Robinson, W. Westerfield, S. West

AN ACT relating to abortion.
Amend KRS 216B.020 to remove abortion facilities from the exemptions for certificate of need; amend KRS 216B.0431 to require abortion facilities to comply with licensure and certificate of need standards required for certain ambulatory surgical centers as applicable to services rendered in an abortion facility by January 1, 2017, unless granted an extension; amend KRS 216B.0435 to require an abortion facility to have a healthcare practioner with admitting privileges at an acute care hospital within 50 miles of the abortion facility where it’s performed by January 1, 2017, unless granted an extension; amend KRS 216B.990 to add a $1,000 per day penalty for an abortion facility who violates the admitting privileges requirement.

Same shit legislation in Texas that SCOTUS heard oral arguments this morning.
Also, I’m starting to wonder if the Kentucky Senate Veterans Committee ever writes any legislation that actually has to do with veterans.

Re-posting from downstairs, on why Trump not gettign the majority of the delegates is so vital to the GOP, even if nobody else does, either

re: #168 freetoken

538 declares:

Donald Trump Is Just Barely On Track To Win The GOP Nomination

They’re trying very hard to make it seem like Trump is not inevitable.

But when compared to his rivals regard who is “on track”:

projects.fivethirtyeight.com

Trump is doing far, far better than either Cruz or Rubio.

Right. But watching a discussion on MSNBC last night, where Ben Ginsburg laid out what the GOP can do to prevent Trump winning the nomination, the key part is to deny him an outright win on the first ballot.

If he manages to get enough committed delegates out of the Primaries, that’s it, game over.

But if he’s denied a victory on the first ballot, all bets are off.

So Trump is really only assured of the nomination in the former case. This is why it was actually BAD for the GOP that Rubio didn’t crack 20% in his 3rd place finishes last night. That’s generally the cutoff.

It also suggests that the GOP doesn’t need to back a SINGLE Trumpslayer, but if they’re splitting the anti-Trump vote, they need both players to exceed 20%, or they’re just giving Trump more delegates, because he’ll have won a larger percentage of the votes of all candidates with >20%.

re: #14 Blind Frog Belly White

Well yes, that’s why Colorado GOP changed their rules. They go into the convention uncommitted. It is an attempt to keep Trump from winning a few delegates in CO.

But the blowback would be tremendous, if Trump has a significant plurality and yet the GOP machinery keeps the nomination from him. As even 538 admitted, that would be the GOP elite doing exactly what their detractors have blamed them of doing - not listening to the “base”.

Blind Frog Belly White  Mar 2, 2016 • 2:55:22pm

Two things that also came up in the discussion.

First, Trump is bringing a lot of people to the GOP Primaries, which is scary. But it’s not at all clear how these people will vote on downticket races, AND it’s entirely possible that these aren’t people the GOP really wants. A lot of these folks are real ‘Clean out the barn!” types who might vote against incumbent GOP pols.

Second, although the GOP generally follows along with whoever’s nominated, I don’t think I’ve EVER seen such a level of outright hatred for a frontrunner. Sure, McCain had plenty of detractors and so did Romney, but nothing like THIS! Is it possible that Trump will lose as many votes as he brings in new ones?

I think it’s highly probable. It’s suggested by some that Trump might be tapping into a pool of potential voters who very rarely turn out to vote, but this seems inconsistent with what we know about Fox-machine dead-enders who would crawl over broken glass to vote against the Other.

It depends on just how bad they think Trump as the nominee would be. Do enough of the GOP think that Trump would have such a catastrophic effect on the GOP that letting him win would be worse than stopping him? If he bolts the party and runs as an independent, Hillary wins. If they let him be the nominee, many fear, Hillary wins anyway, but the GOP becomes Trump’s.

I agree that the level of opposition to Trump within the GOP is unprecedented within at least the last 25 years. Perhaps Rockefeller vs. Goldwater was comparable in intensity, but that is before my time.

I think Trump will lose a % or two of the Republican base over this if he is the nominee.

It depends on just how bad they think Trump as the nominee would be.

The likes of Sen. Sasse are pretty clear that they will not vote for Trump at all. The anti-Trump movement will just as much doom the GOP as much as Trump splitting off and doing a 3rd party run.

In the end, each local elected official will do what is best for their own campaign. Which means many Republican Senators and Congressmen will either run from the GOP nominee, or they will desperately cling to whoever it may be (other than Trump.)

The Presidency ought to be a cake walk for the Democrats, but unfortunately their candidate has almost as significant negatives as Trump.

If you are referring to Clinton’s favorable/unfavorable polling, these numbers are what they are, but at least they are not likely to significantly change.

Trump, on the other hand, hasn’t really had a general election level spotlight on him yet. There ought to be plenty of room to drive his numbers more negative.

I think the differences in negatives are important. Clinton’s are a result of 30 years fear mongering from the GOP. Trump owns all of his.

Virtually every Clinton “scandal” is down to GOP innuendo and are on the whole unsubstantiated. Look at Benghazi. All the scandal is that there must be something there. All evidence, all the inquiries, all the hearings…nada. But it leaves a taste that if “everyone” is talking abnout there must be a fire somewhere. Trumps are generally well documented and irrefutable.

Of course in the general the GOP will fall in line like a school kid in a Pink Floyd video

Welcome to the next great GOP conspiracy - that the media didn’t properly cover Trump overstating his wealth.

Except for all the times that Fortune and WSJ indicated exactly that - emphatically so.

Trump’s FEC filings also indicates that his wealth isn’t what it seems. And Trump repeatedly stated that his wealth is tied to how he feels about his brand in any given day. In other words, Trump’s statement on his worth being in the billions is not even tangentially related to GAAP or normal tax computations.

His tax records would probably indicate wealth a fraction of what he claims.

It’s just another lie. But the right wing thinks that there’s a conspiracy here too - that someone was holding back on this? Those people just haven’t been paying attention.

It’s weird watching people’s heads spin around the Drumpfbeat of Inevitability.

The GOP is testing the waters on dumping Trump and working convention voodoo to back somebody else (probably Cruz). Can we get away with this? Oh wait, we’re backed by money, and don’t give a shit about actual Americans! I bet we can do this.

“Moderate” conservative-inclined Hillary haters are convincing themselves that Trump is a decent human being and will be better than a Clinton in office. He’s obviously anti-social and uncooperative, but anything is better than Hillary “Satan” Clinton.

Some Trump fans are edging back, saying “Hey yeah, I didn’t really mean all that stuff about him being the best guy up there… But isn’t this fun? I just like how he stirs shit up!” Oh my god, my vote has consequences and this guy might really be in charge of stuff. Is that good? I’m not even sure anymore.

Bernie-heads are sulking in the corner. Why did all these fucking idiots vote for Hitlery? She’s just a corporate whore, just like the Republicans! Fuck everybody!

It’s very easy for the Democrat establishment to fall into the trap of thinking they have this nailed and that they can just surf on to the Presidency. However I think they vastly underestimate the sheer magnitude of Hillary Hate out there. Yes, Virginia, people WILL vote for a thoughtless, thuggish egomaniac cartoon character, because they hate Hillary’s guts now and forever.

If the Dems want Hillary to win they need to unify and start working NOW, and don’t slack off until the election is won.

The Dems can’t do anything now. There are still two candidates in the running.

I get what you’re saying but this is the process; primary, convention, nominee. Until one goes away there’s little to be done.

I think it’s a realistic goal if Trump is on the ticket. Link the GOP candidates to Trump.

I think if they do that. They’ll get a good amount staying home. The exit polls indicate to me that a lot of the GOP electorate is disgusted with their own party. Pulling a stunt like that would infuriate them.

Sarah says she picked 7 of 11 winners last night.

You all know what that means, right?

It’s Grifting Time Again!

Friend,

Governor Palin picks winners and last night her choice for President of the United States won 7 out of 11 Super Tuesday states. However, many of the winners she picks aren’t always in the spotlight like Donald Trump.

Many of the candidates she endorses are underdogs. They face uphill battles against highly funded establishment candidates and through the power of Palin, they win!

That is why it is crucial that we raise $2,500 before the next primary!

We must [sic] the Governor across the country to find these special candidates that will send the establishment a message.

Will you kindly donate $25 to support the SarahPAC Conservative Congressional Candidate Fund? Each time you donate $25 you will be entered to win an autographed copy of Gov. Sarah Palin’s newest book, Sweet Freedom: A Devotional. The winner will be announced next Friday. So be sure to enter before time runs out.

It [sic] so important that we elect strong conservative candidates in Congress to support our next president who will defund Obamacare, secure the border, and support our military and it’s [sic] veterans who are constantly ignored by the VA!

Voter turnout results are pointing to a HUGE conservative victory, but we CAN’T just elect the same establishment Congress year after year and expect change. Donate $25 today and be the change that ushers in a real conservative victory!

Best,

SarahPAC

Lindsay Graham said last night not even a week after he said that pretty much you could murder the guy and none of the Senate Republicans would care. What a mess. This is such just desserts for the GOP. Even if they do somehow nominate Rubio, he’s not going to be seen as legit.

Boehner, southern Ohio—closer to Cincinnati; Kasich, central—Columbus. Don’t really know if they were/are close. My gut says no, because while Boehner can be an asshole, he seems like a more sociable kind of guy and Kasich is just a flat out dick.
