Misogynist Milo Yiannopoulos Whines to WH Press Sec. Josh Earnest About Losing His Checkmark

He thinks the President should tell Twitter to give him back his beloved checkmark.
WTF • Views: 48,596

YouTube

So today, “men’s rights advocate” Milo Yiannopoulos used the Breitbart “News” White House press credentials to whine to press secretary Josh Earnest about losing his “verified” check mark on Twitter “for making jokes about the wrong people.” And he actually seems to think President Obama should tell Twitter to give it back to him.

In point of fact, Yiannopoulos is a serial abuser of women on Twitter, and that’s why his checkmark was removed; that’s what he’s calling “jokes about the wrong people.” And Twitter is not “censoring conservatives,” they’re (finally) beginning to enforce their own rules against abuse and harassment — and it turns out that many of the very worst abusers happen to be of the right wing persuasion. Go figure.

Someone should inform Josh Earnest about @Nero’s long history of hateful misogynist harassment. He obviously didn’t know what sort of deranged demagogue he was talking to.

Milo describes himself (while trying to get at another person):

Observers are left to conclude that […] is an attention-seeking media troll who courts adoration from bloggers, students and hipsters while picking off low-hanging fruit and mocking people he doesn’t like. But he often does this not with the master troll’s scalpel but the clumsy tin ear of the lumbering buffoon who pisses people off for all the wrong reasons, with cheap, sarcastic bait masquerading as sassy intellect.

I think the President has more important things to worry about than whether a guy on Twitter has a checkmark.

Aaarrrgghhh! The top Bernie bot on my Facebook page is also a goddamn chemtrail idiot/believer. His latest is an “expose” of photos from “inside chemtrail planes.” Most of them show legitimate, and publicly verifiable, ag sprayer installations produced by Biegert Aviation of Chandler Arizona. A few show such things as vapor blowoff from refueling tankers and JATO rockets, while one shows an emergency fuel dump.

This person has been unfriended.

This is just a big F you to bernie supporters. There is zero need to pivot to the general this early in the game, and plenty of opportunity for Bernie win the nomination. There is also a real possibility that the FBI could indict Hillary Clinton—reports say the FBI is going to interview her staff and her, and the investigation should be completed in May.

It really says a lot that wingnuts and moonbats alike see their only hope for the presidency coming in the form of an indictment for Hillary. They can’t win on ideas, they can’t win on proposals, so they have to hope that their opponent will be behind bars come November.

I’ve also been making the point that both John Kerry and Joe Biden voted for the Iraq debacle. But for some reason, there was no concerted effort to refuse to vote for Kerry in 2004, nor was there an effort to refuse to vote Obama in 2008 because Biden was on the ticket, nor was there any freakout when he toyed with running in 2016. All of the hatred for that vote flows to Hillary. I could speculate on why that is, but I don’t want to cast aspersions…

Opposition to this kind of woo is certainly not right wing bullshit, but it is the motive for trying to expose it. I was responding to withak’s speculation that woo believers are a significant force among “Bernie or bust” diehards. My contact with them certainly suggests such a thing; ie conspiracism may be yet another characteristic they strangely share with the wacko right. Worth noting that Bernie himself does not support the “Bernie or bust” position.

Very good article by Natasha Geiling at Talking Points Memo about the weird history of Trump Steaks

But if selling steaks still seems like an illogical move for the Trump brand, consider, for a moment, the Trump brand — hyper-masculine, decadent, built on the back of luxury real estate, hotels, and casinos. All those properties — especially the casinos and the hotels — boasted restaurants, and those restaurants needed to source their steak from somewhere.

So Trump struck up a relationship with Buckhead Beef, a specialty meat company that was purchased by Sysco, the largest marketer and distributor of food service products in the United States, in 1999. According to Jack Serratilli, a Buckhead Beef sales manager, Trump first approached the company when he opened his first casino in Atlantic City. Buckhead had already been servicing other casinos in Atlantic City, supplying beef for their restaurants, and they began to do the same for Trump.

He was mostly selling the steaks to his own companies.

Ben Carson’s small-dollar donors could keep yielding big money

…the retired neurosurgeon’s campaign succeeded wildly at one thing: collecting personal — and lucrative — information from more than 700,000 donors and millions of fans.

This database is a potential post-campaign money machine: The remnants of Carson’s campaign could wring riches from a legion of small-dollar supporters for years to come, as other campaigns have done before it.

How? By renting supporters’ information to other candidates, political committees — even for-profit data brokers — that may, in turn, use it to raise money.

I find this process fascinating and gross. It will be interesting to see if his list actually gets sold. (I bet it does).

So if you are banned or if you just want to talk off site more freely because of Kos’ new fairly steep decree (some call this the Ides of March!)

Through its K-12 subsidiary, Lubbock’s Southcrest Republican Baptist gun church will present A Night with the Benghazi Survivors in April. This features Kris “Tanto” Paronto, Mark “Oz” Geist and John “Tig” Tiegen. These three were very prominent in Michael Bay’s anti-Hillary propaganda film, 13 Hours The Secret Soldiers of Benghazi, and the presentation references the movie.
Southcrest is hyping this pretty heavily, with tickets available from Select-a-Seat.

My friend Carol Morgan comments:

There’s nothing Baptist nor Christian about this house of worship.

So, if a legitimate journalist who’s spent years dreaming of their chance to get into the WH press box to ask questions of a Press Secretary, you’re going to

1) ask a serious piercing question about an issue of the day, whether it’s the Flint water crisis, the federal budget, or even the nomination/confirmation process; or
2) preen and pose about a question that has absolutely no national significance or interest to anyone other than the questioner.

If you answered (2), you’d be Milo.

And that proves once again that Milo’s dumber than a bag of hammers to waste an opportunity to do real journalism - proving once again why he never deserved a check in the first place.

Those four extra delegates from Oklahoma could be all the difference, ya know!

Speaking of which, the Democrats in Minnesota announced that they rechecked their math, and the restated results gave Hillary one more delegate, so that she lost 46-31 instead of 47-30. Which means the state that has given Bernie his best showing in delegates is now Vermont (+16). When a state with three electoral votes gives you your best numerical margin, you know you’re in trouble.

The Genesis of Radical Right-Wing Politics

This is a lengthy but very informative article that draws an unbroken line from McCarthy to the John Birch Society and on to the Koch Brothers and today’s religious right.
Much of this is familiar but I did not know that Tim LeHaye, the author of the apocalyptic Left Behind series, had extensive connections to the JBS.
One interesting tidbit is that Phyllis Schlafly, a long time Bircher, was the originator of the Bilderburger conspiracy theories. There are many iterations in the Bilderburg conspiracy complex today, but the original version held that it was a gang of international bankers who were plotting to hand the world over to a communist conspiracy for some suicidal reason.

Keep in mind that in Louisiana, registered Democrats outnumber registered Republicans by almost exactly half a million, so “Democrats” who never vote for Democrats are still quite common. (After a failed experiment with regular party primaries in the 2000s, Louisiana returned to having jungle primaries; our party registration is used only for Presidential primaries.)

Also keep in mind that we now have a shiny new Democratic governor, despite this “nightmare.”

CCJ must think this is a local school board election dominated by a set of Victorian prudes.

It’s not. Instead this is the GOP primary featuring Trumpzilla vs. Cruz and Rubio, the clown duet. No simple sex scandal is going to even register here, even if CCJ did have any proof. We’re way beyond “live boy or dead girl” territory. “Dead animal” is probably the minimum ante to even get mentioned in this news cycle.

This is not really different than many other instances of conservative/Republican stupidity. The correct response to the more offensive of these is “fuck off and die”, which never gets said to these clowns.

Even the stuff that is merely idiotic should be roundly mocked as being unworthy of attention. This also never happens in the media.

Deep Thoughts by Phyllis Schlafly

“Sexual harassment on the job is not a problem for virtuous women.”

“No country in history ever sent mothers of toddlers off to fight enemy soldiers until the United States did this in the Iraq war.”

No really…Phyllis wants to know why you’re not in the kitchen. And so do her scarabs.

I’d just like to point out that my general impression that Phyllis Schafly was once entombed by ancient Egyptian priests, can vomit flesh-eating scarab beetles, and stalks the earth shrouded by drought and bowel complaints is not a reflection of her appearance.

It is rather a impressionistic accounting of the state of her shrivelled soul.

Well, to be perfectly accurate, the wandering ka spirit that has become corrupted and demonic because Andrew Schafly has done an inadequate job of appeasing her ba spirit with the raw meat of puppies that died of sadness.

This seems like a reasonable analysis of the situation.

I just grow tired of the often unthinking repetition of the idea that old people in general and old women specifically are sexually hideous.

Wait, so the guy seeking the DNC nomination is still registered as an Independent? I suppose that’s why he’s not raised a single penny for the party, because he doesn’t give a shit about them except as a vehicle to the White House.

Per Wikipedia, I have gotten my facts wrong:

In November 2015, Sanders announced that he would be a Democrat from then on, and will run in any future elections as a Democrat.[174][175][176] In 2016, many additional sources, such as PBS,[177] The Wall Street Journal,[178] and CBS News[179] described Sanders as a Democrat.

The United States Senate website includes pages that refer to Sanders as an Independent[180] as well as pages that refer to him as a Democrat. Some of the pages calling him a Democrat are dated before 2015, possibly in error or in reference to his caucusing with the Democrats, not his later-declared affiliation.[181] In January 2016, his official Senate website still referred to him as an Independent,[182] and the following month his press releases omitted party affiliation[183] or described him as an Independent.[184]

That really puts the 2018 Senate run as an Independent in a new light for me.

I realize this isn’t exactly the same as fighting, but when I was in the Navy, one of the women I worked with had been sent ashore to finish her pregnancy. After having her child, they gave her a couple of months of recovery and then told her she was either going to have to find someone to look after her child while she was out on the remaining for months of a six month cruise or get out of the Navy.

Per Wikipedia, there is quite a bit of confusion on this point.

On the FEC side, there has apparently been no filing by Sanders since an FEC notice of 8/20/2013, so there is no apparent reason to view the FEC web site as giving any evidence of a Sanders Senate run in 2018, much less a run as an independent.

I’m outta here gang. I’m going to lay out camera equipment, figure out just what I want to take to Mexico. Pretty good chance the Canon DSLR(s) won’t be going, just too heavy. I’ll use my micro 4/3rd Olys. Nice cameras, I can tell the difference in lens quality when I get picky, but light, small, shoot RAW format, and I’m much more likely to actually carry it with me most of the time.

Plus I’ve got to make sure that I’ve got all my gopro stuff ready to rock. I’m going to mount it on the cold shoe on the top of the underwater housing for the Olympus, have an easy to handle rig.

Be good, and if you can’t be good, be good at it.

So, after an incident, I have put the matrimonial stuff on hold for quite some time.

I have also told my best friend though, that I have some concerns that I want addressed though.

Namely that the time for fun in relationships is dwindling down (At a certain age, one is expected to become sensible and boring. (Or, at least that is the message I have gotten from media for my entire life.))

Other concerns are the fact are the theory I have that by the time I am ready, anyone I would be compatible with (e.g. the patience to deal with a very sensitive Autistic person), will have found someone who is statistically better than me, and the fact that I now have no method of finding someone (people who will have a romantic interest in you don’t fall from the sky, especially in the more stiff and rule based Muslim culture). Leaving me alone for the rest of my life.

I am hoping to get some compromise here from her, that my concerns are to some extent valid.

And I do push logic and statistics into everything. It helps the world make sense to me.

So, let’s say you come across this headline:

Students should love America

If one is up on the issues of the day, perhaps we would think this is about… maybe “patriotism”, the military, and so one.

And of course the pledge:

[…]

House Bill 224 would have required that schools begin the school day with the Pledge of Allegiance to the American flag. Responsible citizens should ask their elected officials, starting with their local school board members, exactly why this issue even came up.

More to the point, we should ask why anyone would oppose this and why any school board ever allowed a school administrator to discontinue this practice. Students should be taught to love and respect America as doing so will only make them better citizens. It is disappointing that this bill did not pass unanimously, however the real disgrace is that apparently there are school administrators who oppose this idea.

[…]

Yup, mindless obeisance.

But wait, there’s more.

And there often is this kind of “more”:

Moreover, science not only fully supports the sequence of creation as recorded in the Bible, but scientist have now reached a level of understanding of our universe which makes it apparent that it is mathematically impossible for our existence to be the result of some cosmic accident. Opposition to the teaching of creationism in conjunction with scientific theory tells us much about the level of knowledge and understanding of those who oppose this idea.

Always.

Creationists lying in the grass, waiting to use any issue that might ring a bell (in this case The Pledge) to pounce.

re: #294 Ziggy_TARDIS

OK, one of the substantive parts seems to be correct:

politifact.com

In 1998, the House of Representatives approved a compact struck between Texas, Vermont and Maine that would allow Vermont and Maine to dump low-level nuclear waste at a designated site in Sierra Blanca, Texas. Sanders, at the time representing Vermont in the House, cosponsored the bill and actively ushered it through Congress.

Located about 16 miles from the Mexican border, Sierra Blanca’s population is predominantly of Mexican ancestry. At the time, the community was about two-thirds Latino, and its residents had an average income of $8,000, according to the an article in the Bangor Daily News.

The low-level nuclear waste would include “items such as scrap metal and worker’s gloves… as well as medical gloves used in radiation treatments at hospitals,” according to the Bangor Daily News. Clinton, then the First Lady, did not have a vote on the matter.

How to interpret this is another question.

When the Older Boy turned 22, I started to worry that he’d never even date, let alone find a girl. I could not figure where he’d meet one, and when he did, how they’d get on. By the time he’d turned 23, he - who had never even gone on a date - was in a pretty serious relationship with a wonderful girl. They’re coming up on the 2nd anniversary of their first date.

It’s not really easy for either of them, but they keep working at it. Each adapts to the other’s needs. For example, she complained that he wouldn’t call every day, because he’d get distracted with all the focus of ASD, then it would be too late. Eventually, he set an alarm on his phone, so he’d remember to call. And she’s had to learn that if they’re having an argument, he’ll reach a point where he can’t process anymore and have to walk away, and she has learned to let him be when that happens.

The each still chafe a little, but for the most part they’re very happy together.

Don’t give up hope, and don’t worry about ‘statistically better’ guys. The Older Boy’s Girlfriend had been dating one of those. He was an asshole.

Here is the incident. I have told my Imam in OKC, and several of my friends verbatim.

So, when talking to someone on the group, they said I need someone who would take care of me, because I do not have anything to bring to the table (While I have a degree, I currently do not have a job, but I am trying). That I need to give up on finding someone my own age, and even give up on someone I find cute. Essentially, concede any and every preference for a person I would want to settle down with.

He said I should look for someone 5-10 years older, who wants to catch up, or relive their 20’s. It really hurts for someone to say this to me. I am not a toy, and no one should be told this.

My eldest step-son (from my ex’s first marriage) is now approaching 42 years old. In that time, he’s had one failed romance. He’s what you’d call a late bloomer, and somewhat socially awkward.

Anyway, he has met a woman and fallen in love, and the two of them are now seriously talking about buying a house together. Its’s too early to tell if wedding bells are in their future, but the two of them seem very happy together.

He wasn’t really looking for someone. It just happened. You seem to be fixated on getting married soon, very soon, and that desperation is ruining your chances. Potential girlfriends can smell that desperation a mile away. Ease off on the marriage issue, and just enjoy single life, and the right someone will come along.

I have the opposite problem, as it were, I don’t want to get married again just for the sake of being married. Here in China, people expect single people to get married, because that is what is done. And there is a large number of single and divorced women of a certain age here who are DESPERATE for a husband. I’ve tried to be friends with such ladies, to date and try to get to know each other, but their agenda is more like “marry me NOW, and then we’ll see if we like each other.” That attitude puts me off big time. If you’re sending out “marry me very soon” vibes, you’re sabotaging your own hopes and dreams.

I will concede that you’re single and childless, and so you’ve probably got some desires to be a dad. I’ve got two kids, and two stepsons, so the urge to start a new family is not particularly strong for me. Even so, you need to chill out.

I’m not sure what “matrimonial services” covers exactly, but I suspect that’s not going to be your best route. If they are acting as, shall we say, a broker, then you probably don’t look like a great prospect “on paper.” They want to be able to check off boxes and add up the points on both sides for an equal match.
You need to meet someone, develop a friendship so that those less quantifiable aspects of who you are can be seen, and then, with a little luck, you can move into a romantic relationship. If you don’t, you’ll still have a friend, and that is a good thing.

See, the thing is, I don’t have hope. Hope got killed during my depression. What do have going off of what other people say I am capable of. Which is apparently alot, because one of my friends, who is in DC, thinks I belong in Washington, possibly in government.

Here is the incident. I have told my Imam in OKC, and several of my friends verbatim.

If a woman was told this, it would be unacceptable.

It’s unacceptable!

re: #394 Ziggy_TARDIS

By the way, age is 25, turning 26 in June.

I didn’t marry until my late 30s. The lady found me, at the place she worked. The phone# she gave me initially was wrong. We had 12 happy years together before she died of cancer. We had 2 children, now grown.

Reflecting on my life, I may have had undiagnosed ADHD in the earlier years.

Many conservatives were big on claiming non American citizens have no rights at all under the Constitution. Maybe Obama should give them their wish and start sending trash like Milo to Guantánamo. Give them a taste of their own ignorance.
